alright, yall let's do this.
i've had this idea for a long time. this thread is for fleshing out and gauging interest. the people who sign up/are approved for leading the clans will be able to make the "official" joining pages when we get there.
the general idea:
The Tribe of Midnight was a group of cats that, up until recently, lived in a desert territory. The desert was so hot that they lived entirely nocturnally. The stars were/are very important to them, more than is typically attributed in canon; they recognize constellations (though they will probably have their own unique ones, not Twoleg ones, for realism (but using Twoleg ones for simplicity might also work)) and use them to navigate the rather similar looking landscape.
The Tribe decided to leave when their only source of water dried up, and living in such a desolate landscape was no longer bearable. They followed a prophecy north to reach their new home...
...only to find that the territory that was decided on by their ancestors has already been occupied by two rival Clans.
These Clans (referred to separately for now as Aclan and Bclan, until names are decided) share a territory that is largely forest with an almost dramatic start of a mountain range. Aclan lives in a somewhat lower level, centered around streams that tend to overflow with the spring thaw, and among mostly deciduous trees (oaks, maples, etc.). Bclan lives closer to the mountains with a more jagged and uneven terrain populated by pine trees and rocks.
The place where they speak to StarClan - like the Moonstone or Moonpool - is called the Starlit Cavern. It's located farther up the nearest mountain, along a steep and winding trail on the cliff face. It's a shallow scoop on the side of the mountain, only three or four cat-lengths deep. The back wall glimmers slightly from any light source, but after midnight the moonlight hits the cavern just right, making the entire cavern shine.
The place where the Clans hold their Gatherings is referred to as the Birch Copse. It's located near the edges of both clans' territories, at middle height, though some ways past the treeline, in an open field of tall grass and wildflowers. The copse itself is centered around three close-growing silver birch trees - the leaders speak from the bottom branches of these trees. There are a few more birches that mark the edge of the copse, but the whole thing is fairly open.
This is where the Tribe settle down to make their new home.
The real plot comes from the unrest between the three groups. Aclan and Bclan hate each other very much, but both are against a third "clan" in their territory (generally - there are some who welcome the tribe in both clans).
The Tribe is facing hostility from the clans, and disagreement from within. Some cats think it would be best if the tribe turned into a clan, assimilating with the natives, as it were. Others think they should preserve their heritage and history as a tribe and not dispose of their traditions so easily. Still others aren't even sure if this is the place the Tribe of Endless Hunting meant for them to come to.
..so as you can see i already have a lot of this planned. what i'm really looking for are people to take leading roles for the joining threads and can help me manage smaller character plots.
i would like to roleplay the tribe by itself, to go on their Great Journey, before finding the clans, but i'm also ok with starting the roleplay at their arrival and the clans finding them in the birch copse already.
