Corrin was sprawled across the ground of what seemed like an endless plain, slowly coming to. He shook his head languidly and gave a gravelly groan, one that didn’t entirely sound like his normal voice. It was loud and the edge behind it masked how pitiful he felt at the moment, the realization finally clicked as the prince came to his senses. He was in his manakete form: the draconic state he would sometimes find himself in was only used in dire situations, so upon figuring out that point he made quick work of turning back to normal. However, it only raised the question of why he felt the need to transform... Corrin gave a quick scan of his surrounding while he searched for the answer, mind foggy and body still numb. He couldn’t recall how he reached this place, but the dull pain he felt eventually gave way into revealing the events prior. An ethereal creature had been only a speck on the horizon, Corrin recalled. If he remembered correctly, some of the heroes who had ventured to face it called the being Galeem. He was among those who had fallen back in case of a potential retreat in the main fighters, waiting to see if he would be needed or fleeing was in order. What he never would have expected was near-divine light beams engulfing those who had dared to face the creature, and that the light was slowly approaching him and his allies. Determined to live to fight another day and save those who had no chance of escaping by foot, he had transformed to come to their aid. Much to his dismay though, he couldn’t outmaneuver Galeem’s attacks. He and those he had tried to help were captured just as Corrin tried to take flight, everything vanishing as only a brilliant white was left to be seen in their last moments. The prince gave a shudder as he pushed the memory to the back of his mind, however he couldn’t shake the guilt he felt. This was no time for self-pity though, and he did his best to rise to his feet and begin his search for those he lost. Briefly using his Yato as support, Corrin stood and held his weapon defensively as he called out into the expanse... “Is anyone out there...? Answer!” he fixed his tone towards the end, trying to sound commanding and confident through his uncertainty.

King Dedede gave Luigi a scornful look when he heard someone calling out from the opposite direction. "Where the heck are you going? The voice is coming from over there." Dedede pointed the head of his hammer away from where Luigi was heading. Of course he's going the wrong way! That yellow-bellied son of a gun is too much of a wuss to find out what's goin' on. Dedede's apparent boldness was nothing more that a facade—he had no intention of going off to investigate on his own. He grabbed the collar of Luigi's shirt and attempted to drag him toward Corrin. "C'mon! This way!"

Luigi let out a yelp as the king's massive mittens grabbed onto his shirt collar. He leaped into the air, mauling Dedede with a flurry of frenzied kicks. He fell to the ground with a thump, a nervous gaze fixed to Dedede.
"S-sorry! I didn't mean to, um, uh... I'm sorry! But... b-but..." Luigi pulled himself to his feet, dusted off his shirt, and frowned. "I won't take orders from you! I heard it from over there-a, clear as day!" A rare spark of courage flashed inside Luigi. He adjusted his overalls and stomped.
"Besides, how am I supposed to trust someone without ears?!"

(I HATE LUIGI AND HIS STUPID FAST AERIALS.) Dedede cried out in surprise when Luigi slipped out of his grasp and jumped into the air. The plumber's foot smashed into Dedede's beak again and again, causing him to topple onto the ground. Once he had recovered from his shock, Dedede shot back onto his feet, balled his fists, and gnashed his teeth. "What's the matter with you?! I'm tired of your abuse! Your mistreatment! Your..." Having already exhausted his vocabulary, Dedede let his hammer do the talking. He extended it in front of him and gave it a spin, walloping Luigi with both sides of the hammer's head.

Marth gripped Falchion tightly, his eyes narrowing as he definitely began to hear something now. While the voices sounded very familiar, the young man was no fool to clones and dark tricks. The Subspace had certainly attested to that. Even so, he readied his blade, and began to make his way towards the voices.
Once the light mist cleared from his field of vision, Marth’s eyes widened with surprise and concern. Somehow, it seemed King Dedede and Luigi had survived the burning light as well. While Marth was certainly relieved at seeing familiar faces again...perhaps moreso of Luigi than Dedede, what he was not relieved at seeing was the large, puffy hammer-wielder clobbering Luigi in the sides of the head.
Marth stepped forwards quickly, his voice both commanding and carefully concerned. “Cease this! What are you two doing?”

Before he could react to the sudden entrance of Marth, the hammer hit Luigi dead-on, crashing right into his side. With a terrible thwack, he was flung from the ground on which he was firmly standing. He let out a long, squeaky holler as he was thrust from the land to the sky and reached a horrifying altitude. His screams faded until they were inaudible.
A few seconds later the screams returned, and Luigi dropped from the sky. A giant cloud of dust lifted into the air from the Luigi-sized force it was struck with. A ghastly gurgle came from his throat as he slowly rose upward.
"... I'm-a okay!" he wheezed, giving a feeble thumbs-up to Marth. He proceeded to fall back down.
Face to the ground, Luigi's voice was muffled, but he managed to say, "I told you it was coming from over there. Hi, Marth..."

King Dedede frowned at the sight of Marth, not because he had anything against him, but because Luigi had been proven correct. "I know I heard something over yonder," he insisted, not bothering to greet the newcomer. Crossing his arms, he said, "Well, if you don't wanna go check it out, that's fine by me. But if it turns out to be some kind o' monster or something and it sneaks up and gets ya, that's your problem, not mine."

Marth moved quickly to Luigi’s side, his eyes wide with concern. Crouching down, he reached to help Luigi back up. “By the gods, are you alright? I’m relieved to see you both here, though certainly not to see you flying in the air like that.” The blue haired sword fighter turned a slightly scolding look to King Dedede.
“There’s more than one way to handle a squabble. I’m not to sure you’re doing it the right way...” After a moment to compose himself, Marth kept a supporting hand on Luigi’s shoulder, though he addressed both of the fighters.
“Do either of you know where we are? I remember the bright light, and then...” He trailed off.

It seemed as though Dedede had already moved on from his quarrel with Luigi. He had made his point, so he had no reason to expend any more energy. "No idea," Dedede replied as he tried to make out what lay beyond the field. "Looks like we could be pretty much anywhere."

Luigi pulled himself up with the help of Marth. He was out of breath and gasping for air, thanks to Dedede knocking the wind out of him.
"Th-thank you, Marth," he said, blushing. "Sorry to get you involved in this-a mess." Luigi respected the prince — he had an affinity for royalty that didn't require constant rescuing.
Luigi fell silent as Marth asked them about their situation. His expression turned sour.
"The truth is, we have-a no idea," he said. "All I can remember is the light and then, well, whatever's happening here." He turned to King Dedede. "We just kinda... appeared here."

Corrin could hear chatter from afar, hope slowly rising up within him. However, after a few moments the voices seemed to bicker and quickly turned into squabbling followed by a scream of all things. His eyes widened and his body proceeded to move on its own to the source of what Corrin presumed was fighting. What he found gave him a mix of relief and confusion, seeing that it had just come from a small group of fighters. This was no time for what he presumed was infighting and Corrin quickly spoke up to try and make himself known, hoping to get a bit of clarification. “Were you all the source of the conflict I heard moments ago? I admit, its nice to see familiar faces but I feel like now isn’t the time for roughhousing— if that’s what produced the scream I heard.” he glanced at Luigi, the man did have a bit of a higher voice when in distress so Corrin felt it was probably a good assumption that it came from him.

“Then it seems we’re all in the same situation.” Marth murmured once he heard both Dedede and Luigi’s responses. He looked around carefully for a moment, before Corrin’s voice had him snapping his head back around. Marth gave a sound of relief and recognition.
“Corrin. It’s good to see you unharmed too. It seems we’ve wound up in some unrecognizable location. Those lights...” He stepped away for a moment to pace slowly in deep thought. His head still hurt, but it was certainly clearer now.
“We were ready to fight, but that power. In all the battles I’ve fought, never before has something like that happened. I...think we have been transported somewhere.”

"Y-yeah, that was me. Sorry," he sighed, still visibly shaken. "Have you seen anyone else around here? I'm hoping we'll eventually all regroup. That... thing.... Galeem. It might still be out there." Luigi gulped.
"Are we all sure that we didn't defeat it and just-a forgot about it? I'd sure like that. I'd hate to go through all that light stuff again," he said. "Dedede and I both don't know where we are. It doesn't seem familiar but... at the same time I feel like we've been here before. Just little bits and pieces feel strangely recognizable. Should we..." Luigi's voice wavered. "... explore?"

It was very well that they could be walking around and straight into a trap or danger of some sort. But, the longer they stayed still, the longer they’d be in the dark about where they were and what exactly happened. He looked at Corrin and King Dedede, speaking out. “We may not have much of a choice. I say we continue moving and try and see if anyone else is here, or if anyone can tell us exactly what happened. But if anything, we must stick together. So, what would you all prefer to do?” He wanted to gauge the opinions of all of them.

Corrin gave the group a slight smile due to things appearing calmer now, but the conversation turned back to the memory he tried to push away. It seemed everyone was just as intimidated by Galeem as he was. The fact they had all encountered the creature and ended up in this place didn't seem like a coincidence in his mind, driving his opinion of their situation. "I...think we should scout around here, look for our allies. I didn't encounter anyone except you all but if we managed to end up here after Galeem's attack, don't you think the others should be here as well?" Corrin asked, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Now, I will say I agree with Marth on sticking together as we have no idea where exactly we are...but even if we come to the decision to stay put I may venture out on my own. I don't want to sit idly by while our friends may be lost or in danger..."

"Yeah, there ain't no reason to stick around here. We've gotta find food!" King Dedede exclaimed. "I hope none of you plan on going after Galeem or whatever his name is. There's no way I'm going through that again." Dedede had been very reluctant to confront Galeem with the other fighters; as much as he prided himself on his strength, he knew he'd been no match for the Lord of Light. Why hadn't he just stayed home? Of course, King Dedede was oblivious to how no one had been spared from Galeem's wrath. He was actually one of the lucky ones—if he had made the choice to stay home, he likely would have lost his body and been turned into a mindless pawn of Galeem. While Dedede had briefly been under its control, he retained no memories from that period of time. It was far from the first time he had been possessed, and it was unlikely to be the last.

Marth nodded in agreement with Corrin, knowing he could not force the other male to do anything he did not desire to do. Even so, King Dedede’s words surprised him a bit. Marth looked at the large ruler with steady eyes.
“Surely we cannot just give up. If we’re still alive, then there is still a hope of defeating Galeem. We were simply caught unaware. Now we know more, and now we can plan another method of taking it down. This is not something we can ignore.”
Especially not when he had a Kingdom and Fiancé to return to. How could he possibly allow himself to be taken from them, or to have this power reach his world and take them from him. And the other fighters, he could not bear to leave them to the dangers of this creature simply due to a failed attempt. He urged. “We must find a way to defeat this.”

King Dedede rolled his eyes. While Popstar, his home planet, was regularly under attack by immensely powerful cosmic entities, Dedede rarely did anything to help save the day. That was usually left up to Kirby, who was more or less his ally. Where the heck is that lil' punk? If anyone can stop Galeem, it's him. I don't know how he does it. Little did King Dedede know that Kirby had initially been the only one to survive the destruction of the universe. In fact, it was Kirby who had rescued Dedede from Galeem's control. The pink puffball hadn't stuck around for long, leaving Dedede in the dark as to what had happened to everyone. "What exactly do we know now? That he can vaporize us all in the blink of an eye? Or... at least make it seem like that happened?" For all Dedede knew, Galeem's attack had been nothing more than an illusion. He felt as though he knew even less about their enemy than he did before.

Marth shook his head lightly, his voice growing lighter and calmer now as he spoke. “Now we know that a direct approach might not be the answer. That we are facing an enemy that cannot be underestimated. That whatever Galeem did, it did not kill us. The question is why...and beyond that, is there any sort of alternative? In my world, blades like Falchion are created to take down enemies that are more powerful than typical enemies. Perhaps there are objects that can work against Galeem.” He offered, letting any of his thoughts out. If anything, brainstorming could help them decide how to go about their next steps.

"We have somethin' like that in my world, too. The Star Rod... One time, I actually smashed the thing to bits to keep its power from bein' compromised. Things didn't exactly work out the way I'd planned, but everything turned out okay in the end," Dedede said. And it was all thanks to Kirby. "How are we s'posed to go about finding something like that? Since nobody has a clue where we are, I doubt we'd be able to get our hands on the Star Rod." Being able to relate with Marth seemed to open Dedede up to the idea of doing something about Galeem. "Maybe I could fly up and scout the area. If I get a good view, I might be able to figure out what this place is."

That can be of assistance as well.” He glanced at Corrin with a polite nod of his head.

"'Kay, here I go." King Dedede opened his mouth wide and gulped down a large quantity of air, causing his belly to expand. Once he was sufficiently inflated, he clamped his beak shut and began to flap his arms. It took a while for him to gain a decent amount of height—while Dedede could fly, he wasn't particularly good at it. Considering how much he weighed, it was a wonder he managed to get off the ground at all. What would those guys do if I just flew away and didn't come back? As tempting as it was to escape from the responsibility of fighting Galeem, Dedede didn't want to be by himself in this unfamiliar land. Indeed, the place remained unfamiliar even from Dedede's new point of view—he saw generic-looking trees and what appeared to be a paved path, but no native species or anything else to indicate a particular world. The path was a good sign, at least. It almost certainly led to some form of civilization, which meant there was sure to be food. Just as Dedede was about to descend, something caught his eye. A humanoid figure was making its way toward Marth and the others, but something about it was... off. It was staggering, as if it wasn't quite in control of its body. Dedede frowned in pity. Gee, that guy doesn't look so good. We should go find out what's wrong with him. Keeping a close eye on the figure, Dedede slowly expelled the air from his body and dropped to the ground. "No good. I still don't recognize anything," he reported to Marth. "I did see some kind of road up ahead, though. And I also saw someone comin' this way. He looked like he was hurt or somethin'."

Marth listened carefully to each word, glancing at Corrin and Luigi with concern at the mention of someone that seemed injured coming towards them. Could that be one of their fellow fighters? Or, was it possibly an enemy?
Hand gripping for Falchion, he spoke. “Thank you. If there’s a road, then there’s people who had to have made it. And if there’s someone coming our way, best we prepare for a friend or a foe...Did you get a good look of who the person might be?” He asked.

(sorry for my absence, i felt real nasty last night xP)
"Someone's injured?" Luigi's words brimmed with concern, though his concern was actually rather cowardly. "Mamma mia, th-that must mean that there's something out there that hurt them!"
He let out a deep, gloomy sigh.
"I've been thinking... Galeem's a horrible cosmic threat to the entire universe - the destroyer of-a everyone and everything and all that, but..." He gave a shy smile. "C-can I just, y'know, stay home for this one?" He glanced at the others for approval. "I'm not very u-useful by myself. My bro's always been the one defeating threats to the galaxy, not-a me. I don't know the first thing about, I dunno, victory?" Luigi looked down at the ground as he prodded at the dirt with his foot.
"What I'm saying is, without my brother, I'm-a as good as useless."
The sudden sound of rustling shook him from his somber monologue. "W-what was that?"
The rustling continued, and Luigi cautiously stepped back.
"Ahh! S-stay back! I have, uh, a vaccum cleaner!" he yelled.
A shadowy figure began to emerge from the bushes. Foliage crinkled around the being as it sluggishly crawled towards the group, a ghastly aura surrounding it. In the dark of the vegetation, discerning its face was impossible, but Luigi shot up as his eyes picked up the silhouette of the figure.
"M-Mario?!" he cried.
Eager to reunite with his twin brother, Luigi beamed with genuine joy. "There you are! I'm so glad you're okay!" But his joy quickly turned to confusion. The figure did not respond, it only trudged further. The figure's shambling motions looked inhuman. There was a stagger in its step as it traipsed closer and closer. As it stepped into the light, Luigi let out a high-pitched yelp. "B-bro, what's wrong?"
It was Mario... but it wasn't. Its visage was ghoulishly distorted beyond recognition, and glowing crimson eyes replaced the ones Luigi knew. Before Luigi could react, a bestial growl rumbled out from the doppelganger. It lunged towards the group.

King Dedede squinted, trying to get a closer look at the approaching figure. There was something deeply disconcerting about it—it was like some kind of feral animal was wearing Mario's skin. Holding his hammer out in front of him, Dedede murmured, "I don't know what that thing is, but it ain't your brother." When the Mario lookalike lunged, Dedede instinctively bashed it in the face. CLANG! To Dedede's surprise, his hammer struck something metal. He studied the unflinching figure in confusion, noticing that its skin was glinting in the sunlight. "What the..." While Dedede was caught off guard, the thing that definitely wasn't Mario pounced and slugged him with its sturdy fists.

“He’s hostile!” Marth called, rushing towards the metal figure of Mario. He slashed his Falchion towards the Mario look-alike’s legs to try and hinder it, calling out for King Dedede in concern. He was hesitant to aim a vital blow in fear of this somehow being Mario, but in a different state. Possession was no new thing for the young King, and he assumed Corrin knew of it well too.

(I was waiting for Shiinotic to post, but she's sleeping. ) Since the creature was focused on Dedede, it didn't see Marth's attack coming. It snarled as Marth swiped at its legs with Falchion and ripped through the fabric on its knees. Oddly, the blade didn't appear to strike metal like Dedede's hammer had. The Mario lookalike was somehow capable of changing the composition of different parts of its body. Dazed, King Dedede breathed in relief when the creature began to target Marth. Its fists began to give off something resembling smoke, but instead of throwing a fireball like Mario was wont to do, it released a cloud of poisonous gas. Even though Dedede wasn't the creature's intended victim, the fumes entered his airway and he began to cough. Something tells me it wouldn't be smart to use Inhale now, he thought, trying to hold his breath.
