Icepaw was looking somewhat agitated and bored as he sat in camp, but he wanted to stay out of sight of warriors for fear they might put him to work. Out of a desire to look somewhat productive, the apprentice trotted over to Yarrowpaw, flicking his tail in greeting, even though he didn't exactly have a polite bone in his body. "Hey, herb-muncher." He meowed, "Is there something you're doing that I can help you with?" “Call me herb-muncher again and I promise you you’ll have plenty to help we with when you’re put into the medicine den.” Yarrowpaw drawled deeply, looking at Icepaw with a blunt look of sharpness. The tom quickly relaxed, giving another light sigh as he mewed. “If you are that bored, you can help me organize the Juniper Berries. Listen carefully. Plump and round berries are not to be touched. Really shriveled and dark and dry berries are to be removed. Can you do that?”

He nodded along with the light brown tom's instructions, trying to keep a basic 'dry berries are removed' in mind as he sat down to look at the collection of berries. He nosed a bunch closer to himself and began to paw through each individual berry, narrowing his eyes as he began to wonder which ones were considered too shriveled or not. "What if they're in-between?" He asked.

"What if they're in-between?" He asked. “Color is the key. If they’re shriveled, but are close in color with the good berries, you can keep them. We’ll use those for polituces for other illnesses. If they’re dark like the bad ones, then just toss them with the bad ones.” Yarrowpaw was more calm now as he spoke, glancing at Icepaw for a short moment before he returned to his Marigold. He mewed. “I suppose I should thank you for offering to help me. I know this kind of stuff is probably not your preferred activity.”

Icepaw nodded, nosing some dark berries apart from the good ones. He shrugged his shoulders, quick to assure to no one in particular that he wasn't helping to be nice with the medicine cats. "I don't know how this can be all you and Weaselfoot do." He replied simply. "I think I would go crazy."

That is what makes this job great.” Yarrowpaw huffed lightly. He pushed to sorted pile away, before moving to work on the Borage. “Each time we cure sickness, or help a queen give birth, or heal an infection, we protect our clanmates and keep them with us. It’s like how you go into battle to defend your clanmates from harm. I do the same thing, just in a different way.” He shrugged. Yarrowpaw then chuckled once. “Seeing Starclan though, that is an experience that thrills you to the bone. To feel and hear and read what they give us.”

It wasn't that the young tom didn't see the value in it or the cats who were medicine cats - he just couldn't imagine what it would be like wanting to be a medicine cat. Especially helping queens kit. He let out a snort, shaking out his fur to get rid of the creeps he felt imagining helping a queen birth her kits. He was quick to change the subject on that. "That Starclan stuff is for real?" He questioned casually - "Not that I don't believe in StarClan - I do - but you see visions and all that?"

I don’t get as many as Weaselfoot has, but I have recieved signs before. And I’ve walked Starclan’s grounds at medicine cat gatherings. As for what I see then, I can’t tell you all that unless it’s imperative for the clan to know. This is sacred communication, after all.” He nodded.

He shook his head, still finding himself skeptical as to how real everything the medicine cats said was. A living cat communicating with the dead just seemed unreal to him. He realized he was almost forgetting to separate the berries, and got back to work. "Not that I care at all, you can keep your secrets. If I become leader, I guess I'll find out for myself."

You don’t seem too believing of what I’m saying. I’d be your most trusted advisor and consultant besides your deputy, you know this, right?” He inquired.

Icepaw's ears flushed a darker shade of pink as Yarrowpaw pointed out the obvious. That's right - Longstar consulted with Weaselfoot arguably even more than his deputy. Granted, they were also kithood friends, but that probably wasn't all there was to it. "I dunno, I guess I wasn't thinking that far ahead." He grumbled. "Maybe I'd be smart enough to not have to consult with anyone."

Maybe it can make you better at dealing with them, but the greatest leaders are the ones who stand at their clanmate’s sides rather than in front of them. Who listens rather than silences, and who trusts rather than triumphs.” Yarrowpaw rested his green eyes lightly on Icepaw. “I think you would make a fine leader in the future, but only once you open your mind and your ears more to those around you.” His honesty and bluntness came easily, and he was not lying. With more maturity, he felt Icepaw did have good potential.

Icepaw couldn't argue with Yarrowpaw's words - he often had trouble explaining what in particular made him look up to Longstar to begin with. Now that the medicine cat apprentice explained it like that, he realized those things were true of the leader. He felt his pelt heat up in embarrassment at Yarrowpaw's blunt honesty, and he shuffled his paws. "You think so? Er, I mean... Thanks, I guess." He meowed. He laid down to finish organizing the berries, feeling slighted in a good - but still painful - way at having such a blunt assessment. "You're good with words, you uh... Described Longstar good." He mumbled. (I'm lowkey considering the idea that Icepaw likes Yarrowpaw, but definitely wouldn't admit it and doesn't know how to handle it xD )

Yarrowpaw would probably like him back, but knows he can’t take a mate. But he’ll grow fond of Ice.) Yarrowpaw gave a quirk of a grin, before he swished his tail and admitted. “I was always told I did. It’s one of the reasons I wanted to do medicine. Honesty is the best policy in healing. As for how I see Longstar, I do admit he has those traits. But that doesn’t mean you also don’t have good traits right now too. You helped me, so you’re helpful. You’re ambitious, which can be good. And you’re seeming to be a good multitasker.” He nodded to the good work Icepaw was doing. “But my honesty can be a bit harsh for others. I...suppose that is my flaw.” He admitted.

Not only was his honesty harsh, but it only made him seem more like a know-it-all, now that Icepaw had recovered from his own self-consciousness. Not that he would say that, at least not right then. "There's worse flaws to have," He meowed, smirking at the medicine cat apprentice, "You could be a mouseheart."

But he’d never forget each lost cat. “One mistake, or one wrong herb, and a medicine cat can kill a cat they’re trying to save. I’ve made mistakes, Icepaw. I...do not want to do it again.” Yarrowpaw sighed lightly.

hello! i hope i'm not interrupting anything, but i would just like to post my joining forms here! if it's okay of course. i am a teensy bit rusty on my RPing, so let me know if i've made any mistakes so that i can fix it~ thank you c:
|| Willowleaf || Female || Warrior || Willowleaf is lithe and elegant, with strong legs that allow her to trek and climb with ease. Her fur is long, but well kept; her pelt is a dark shade of chestnut brown with the exception of her underbelly, being a prominent white instead. Her eyes are a light mossy green, and her nose is light pink. || A tactful she-cat with a boundless amount of patience. Willowleaf is a demure being, perhaps having a rather innocent mindset compared to the majority of her peers. A warrior of strong faith, she is deeply spiritual and holds great regard towards StarClan. She is able to manage kindly with her fellow Clanmates and is said to have a very soothing presence; she often knows how to deal with cats who have a harsher or grumpier personality, which makes her an ideal peace-maker among her Clan. She is one who can easily be approached by anyone who is in need of advice, or whomever seeks comforting words to brighten their day and change their perspective. A hopeless romantic at heart, Willowleaf often finds couples and families endearing, and secretly wishes to become a mother herself one day. However much love she has to give away, though, is often wasted due to her inability to advance any relationship that she seeks out, as she is oblivious to her feelings being reciprocated without direct assurance. || Her mother was Frostfeather, and her father was Oakbreeze, both loyal Clan warriors. Her paternal grandfather was Vinespring, an elder who passed on his strong faith in StarClan to Willowleaf. They have all since passed on to join StarClan. || Willowleaf was born and raised in NightClan alongside her small family, which consisted of herself, her mother and father, and her grandfather. From a young age she observed how affectionate her parents were towards one another, which led to her growing up with an idealistic view of romance. During her apprentice years, she contemplated whether to work towards a warrior or a medicine cat apprenticeship, noting that she showed signs of having a close relationship to StarClan. Ultimately, her decision came too late when another medicine cat apprentice was chosen in her stead. Nevertheless, she is glad to be a warrior for her Clan. || Shadow ; Darkness. || ˏˋ h o s h i e ˎˊ ||
|| Spottedpaw || Female || Apprentice || Spottedpaw is an remarkably tall she-cat, her large frame being one that is slim and slender, akin to the Savannah cat breed. Her legs are long and appear graceful, but usually cause her to look awkward when she walks or runs. She has large ears that are placed high upon her head, and are rounded rather than pointed. Her pelt is silver with solid black spots, which are oval in shape and flow across her body in a pattern. Her eyes are a sharp cerulean blue. || An intelligent she-cat with an endless desire to learn. Spottedpaw is known to have an incredibly curious mind and an inquisitive tongue. She is polite and orderly with her fellow Clanmates, but becomes rather serious if engaged in conversation. Her demeanor is one that emits intelligence and maturity beyond her years; even as a kit she wasn't one for playful fighting or games of make-believe, and still prefers her pursuit of improvement over what she deems as 'infantile distractions'. Confident in her already vast knowledge, she often corrects others when she deems it appropriate to, which may lead her into some trouble with older ones, or those who tend to become offended easily. Although she may come off as smart-aleck, many do well to remember that she's simply a young she-cat with an eagerness to teach and to learn from her mistakes, and is still innocent in both intentions and in heart. || Her mother is Ravenflight, a Clanborn warrior, and her father is Leopardstrike, a former kittypet-turned-loner who joined the Clan at a young age after being saved from a rogue attack by a passing patrol. Spottedpaw had three siblings who were stillborn at birth: two she-cats, Hollykit and Skykit, and one tom named Kestrelkit. || As the only surviving kit of her litter, Spottedpaw grew up with undivided attention from both parents, allowing her to maintain a close relationship with them. However, because of her pensive traits, it is not unusual for her to appear emotionally distant when passing time with them. As an apprentice, she strives for excellence and harbors a slight superiority complex, especially when pitted against other apprentices she deems as too 'kit-like' to equal her. With her mentor's patient guidance and her Clan's support, Spottedpaw is bound to grow into a strong, cunning warrior when her time comes. || Shadow ; Darkness || ˏˋ h o s h i e ˎˊ || if possible, her warrior name will be Spottedwing.
(also!! i wasn't planning on making spottedpaw's parents into my RP charas, but if you'd like me to complete a form for them just for information's sake, i will be happy to provide more details for them~)

She is one who can easily be approached by anyone who is in need of advice, or whomever seeks comforting words to brighten their day and change their perspective. ; here are my starters~ feel free to respond if anyone would like!
Willowleaf ; - The rays of the sun managed to enter into the warrior's den through the crooks and crannies of the bushes nearest Willowleaf, causing her to stir from how they beamed brightly against her face. She groaned quietly as she shifted awake, her eyes sleepy and dazed. Seeing that she was perhaps one of the few warriors left in the den, she decided to tidy herself out in the clearing, hoping it wasn't too late for her to join a patrol of some sort; she did enjoy walking through the woods during the morning, as the normal dreariness of the territory seemed to brighten along with the early day. Padding out of the den, the she-cat remembered to greet her Clanmates that were out and about already, sending them a warm look as she passed by. Finding a quiet spot a little ways off from the fresh-kill pile, she settled onto her side to begin grooming her tousled fur. Although occupied, she occasionally lifted her head up to scan the area, in case anything required her attention.
Spottedpaw ; - The lack of leg space had been what awakened Spottedpaw. Feeling her hind legs cramping once again, the apprentice sighed in annoyance as she tossed in her nest one last time, before admitting a calm defeat. Slinking her way out of the apprentice's den, she yawned quietly as she sat down at the entrance, taking a moment to observe the bustle of the camp. She took note of her fellow apprentices, Icepaw and Yarrowpaw, who were conversing together while sorting herbs. Her tail flicked in interest. Herbs we're always fascinating for her to learn about. How exactly did the medicine cats know which herbs would heal and which would hurt? Did StarClan provide such knowledge to the very first medicine cat to exist? How did StarClan know what herbs the Clans would come across in order to heed their advice? So many questions to be answered, Spottedpaw pondered as she groomed her chest fur, wondering if her mentor would be able to help provide those very answers.

Icepaw smirked and narrowed his eyes competitively. "Well, you must know quite a bit about healing, then." He meowed. It gave him vague satisfaction to have a skill over Yarrowpaw. He seemed to be so good at everything... He glanced down at all the herbs Yarrowpaw had been organizing while he had been sorting through just the berries. "...Huh. And you'd have to be if you can keep all those straight." He noted. “I have to.” Yarrowpaw admitted lightly, remembering the first death he had seen, his first moon of training. How slow and painful it seemed. Nothing works sometimes, he knew that. But he’d never forget each lost cat. “One mistake, or one wrong herb, and a medicine cat can kill a cat they’re trying to save. I’ve made mistakes, Icepaw. I...do not want to do it again.” Yarrowpaw sighed lightly. Icepaw winced, feeling slightly uncomfortable at the heavy thought. It was easy to battle an enemy cat. That was black and white. Losing a cat you want to save was something else entirely. The apprentice did not often feel strong sympathy, but he couldn't help but feel bad for Yarrowpaw. He flicked his tail, momentarily reaching to brush it against the medicine cat apprentice's shoulder, but he quickly drew it back, not liking the warm, affectionate feeling it gave him. "You won't. At least, not as long as you can help it." He meowed, wanting to ease the dark thought quickly, "I mean, look at you already. You know what you're doing now. And you'll get better, I'm sure. You're that kind of cat, you know? Always good at things, and only getting better."

Longstar was nosing through the fresh-kill pile until he found a plump toad to his liking, and the large golden brown tom picked it out and settled down to eat it. He flicked his long tail in greeting to Willowleaf as he saw her emerge and join the waking world finally. "Enjoying some extra sleep, hm?" He meowed.

Yarrowpaw looked at Icepaw with an unreadable look, though he soon gave a small look of gratitude and even faint warmth. His eyes flickered to the side a bit as he mewed. “That’s very kind of you to say, Icepaw. I wouldn’t say always good at things, but I do try my best...You can count on me to take care of you, er, and the whole clan.” He corrected himself firmly.

Willowleaf ; - Showing no sort of alarm at her leader's teasing, Willowleaf let out a soft meow of laughter as she agreed, "How tiring the real life is, Longstar! Sometimes dreams are better than reality." Sitting herself up to face her leader, the she-cat dipped her head down in proper greeting to him. "I hope you rested well yourself. StarClan knows how hard you work on behalf of us." She gave his meal a pointed glance, "And for that, they bless you with such lovely toads to fill your belly, do they not?"
