Icepaw trotted to leave the apprentice's den, assuming that Maskedpaw would be following him. "Well, that was the idea, anyway - There's a pine tree we can climb that has the best view, and nobody else would be able to -" He meowed over his shoulder, but he stiffened when he scented Yarrowpaw outside of the den. He snorted to hide the small freeze he gave. The gray and black tom poked his head out to shoot the medicine cat apprentice his usual smug look. "Eavesdropping, medicine cat?"

((you think maskedpaw just like knows he has a crush. like she can tell))
Maskedpaw paused behind Icepaw listening to him talk. Yarrowpaw, probably. She knows Icepaw wouldn't be so smug with Weaselfoot. At the least, she sure hoped not. The she-cat remained quiet as she waited for their conversation to start. Maybe Icepaw would drag Yarrowpaw along with them. Hopefully, between him and herself, they could keep Icepaw somewhat sensible.

Melody and Dill led the way, as Dandelion eagerly pointed out the directions. Oren just trotted along, whiskers twitching in frustration and impatience. If he and Dandelion could lead, then they'd be moving so much faster. Melody's condition that she and Dill would lead was just for her own comfort—not a decision made out of rationality at all. Not that the nonrational decision making bothered Oren, as he could understand how his mother felt, but the inefficiency of it all... Oren's pelt bristled the whole trip. Dandelion, however, was just about to jump into another adventure. New cats and a new family—what wasn't there to look forwards to? Sure, they might encounter some mean cats, but it wasn't anything that she or her family couldn't handle. Well... Dandelion glanced over at Melody, whose tail she saw swishing back and forth. She's kinda moody, I guess.... I dunno if she'll really get along with them...Dill was never one to take immediate charge. Despite living on his own and having coaxed Melody out of her Twolegs' care, he himself always liked to sit around, sunbathe, and live life slowly. Twolegs always got angry. He simply desired a comfortable existence, one where he and his family could live in harmony. Savoring the small pleasures, like how a sunny day felt on his back, or the crunch of a mouse's spine as he landed the killing bite. Following his kits was no big deal to him—as a loner, he had moved enough times in his life. This was just the next one. Melody checked beside and behind her all along the way, making sure that the rest of the family still followed her. As she stepped out of the tall grass near the marshy areas, Dandelion called for the group to stop here. Melody turned round to face the younger she-cat. "You are absolutely certain?" Melody meowed skeptically. "Uh-huh, this is the place," Dandelion confirmed. "Now we just gotta wait."( ☾ѕησσzє☽ I found the post connecting the patrol x) ) Sorrelpatch's ears perked the moment she scented unfamiliar cats not too far from the patrol. She signaled to her clanmates with her tail. "That must be them!" She meowed.

"Nothing really. I finished most of my duties as a warrior for now so probably relax or take a walk around the territory." she shifts again and curls her tail up around her "What about you?" Hawkfrost pondered for a few moments. "Honestly, I have nothing planned. Might go around an ask if anyone needs help, then probably go down to the river to catch some fish." The pale tabby had pretty much completed his tasks for the day, minus the extra go around later in the evening for a small patrol excursion. He let out a large yawn. "Maybe take a nap," he sighed, realizing that he had been up since before dawn. He was going to be so sleep deprived one of these days.

"You do sound tired. Don't want to pass out mid-hunt or something if you haven't slept." the she-cat added on to the end. Crowclaw hadn't paid much attention to it but he did look and seem very tired. Poor cat'd been up since who knows when.

"Eh," he spoke. "Sleeping is for the weak." Hawkfrost let out a hearty laugh. "If you're up for that walk, we can go together?" He cast his eyes over to his clanmate.

"Eavesdropping, medicine cat?" “What need would I have to eavesdrop on dozing apprentices?” Yarrowpaw snorted lightly, his green eyes flashing with calm indignation. He held back his rising emotions and hid them behind his mask of focus. “I was passing by, though most of the camp could hear your voice no matter where you are, Icepaw.” He greeted Maskedpaw more politely, having no problem with the she-cat. He frowned lightly at Icepaw though. “Perhaps the apprentices can help me for once with these herbs, lest you all die because we can’t collect them all in time and you jump into battle.” He flicked his tail.

"Suppose I am, yes. Though, if you pass out on me, I'm dragging you back to camp." Crowclaw smiles. She stands and stretches out, beginning to make her way towards the camp entrance.

Icepaw gave a huff at Yarrowpaw's offer. He had been hoping for a relaxing trip out of camp - not getting flustered and outsmarted by the medicine cat apprentice. That's what he told himself, anyway. "Well, Maskedpaw and I were going out anyway. We might as well help you carry things." He meowed a moment later, as though it had been his own idea.

Maskedpaw suppressed a snicker and pushed past Icepaw and Yarrowpaw both. She still didn't say anything. Normally she'd be quite clever as of right now but honestly, she wasn't close with Yarrowpaw much. Maskedpaw still didn't understand why she was nervous with others but, you know. She'd been like that all her life so far so.

“How gracious.” Yarrowpaw hummed with a toss of his eyes. He noticed Maskedpaw pad past them, and he observed her carefully. She had always been different compared to the other apprentices. But Yarrowpaw preferred her, knowing she had never once pulled his fur like the others did. He looked back at Icepaw before he moved to catch up with Maskedpaw, calling back almost tauntingly to the other tom.
“Come now then. Of course, if you can keep up with Maskedpaw and I, that is.”

Maskedpaw snickered and threw a look back to Icepaw with a smile. It wasnt sweet or anythung more just smug in a way. The she-cat was messing with him for the most part.

Icepaw rolled his eyes, feeling heat rush to his face. He strode to push himself to the front, his tail held high. "Where do you collect your herbs, then? The Great Bramble Bush?" He asked, glancing over his shoulder before he pushed his way through the narrow camp exit.

“I collect herbs everywhere.” Yarrowpaw explained calmly. “Most grow near bushes or small streams, but some are near the brambles. I’ll tell you when we find some.” He promised, his voice now less taunting and more of its usual calm focus, dedication to his job and rank. He supposed being in Icepaw and Maskedpaw’s company was nice, though he knew inwardly that the feelings he considered were...dangerous, for a medicine cat to have.

Maskedpaw let Icepaw lead them for a bit before she spoke up, "Don't you think it'd be better if Yarrowpaw leads us, Icepaw? Y'know, since he's the medicine cat's apprentice? she asked with a bit of a mocking tone in some way. Admittedly though, she was pretty sure she had a point there. They hadn't a clue what they were looking for and Yarrowpaw did.

Icepaw's ear flicked. Maskedpaw was right, but he felt more at ease when he was in control. He slowed his pace so that Yarrowpaw could take the lead instead. "Only because I'm no good with that herb stuff." He meowed.

“Oh, I doubt neither of you are good at any herb stuff. But you are good at carrying things and listening to orders.” Yarrowpaw decided. He stopped suddenly, nose twitching before he turned towards a bush between a patch of trees. He crouched down and scented near the bush, where a clump of scented plants were. He nodded with approval.
“This is Horsetail. It’s very good for treating and preventing infections. I’m going to pull it up, and you two can carry it once I divide it properly.” He moved with methodical precision, clearly experienced and often collecting herbs.

She stands and stretches out, beginning to make her way towards the camp entrance. Voidastral "I won't pass out on you," he chuckled, proceeding to follow the she-cat. "Or maybe I will just so you have to drag me back." He winked and stuck his tongue out at her. The tabby tom picked up a bit of speed so he was right next to her.

"You're going to split it between us?" she asked. His instructions weren't clear and it'd be kind of odd to make them both carry a half when one could just carry it all.
"I think I've changed my mind, maybe I'll just let you rot out there!" she laughed, sticking her tongue out in reply. Crowclaw considered picking up her own pace just to mess with him but she decided against it ultimately.

Icepaw held his head up high, giving a proud snort. "I could carry them all myself." He meowed, stepping to stand beside Yarrowpaw. Even though he was somewhat competitive, he strangely felt the stronger need to impress his fellow apprentices now that they weren't in camp. "I carried two squirrels back to camp the other day."

“Well if you care to know, too much Horsetail in one cat’s jaws will make it incredibly hard to scent, and will make your tongue feel tingly. I’ve come to learn that carrying less in one go will lessen the effects. Or you can be a prideful mousebrain and carry it all yourself, not that I care.” Yarrowcloud corrected sternly, huffing at the two apprentices. “Besides. With both of you carrying it, I’ll be assured some nice peace and quiet.” He nearly joked, voice rumbling.

Maskedpaw nodded "Huh, that's good to note. In case I ever find some on a hunt. Then I can pick them for you, if I know how, that is." the she-cat replied with a pleasant smile to Yarrowpaw.
