Hey there.
So here’s the thing... I really really enjoy making a character’s personality, traits, backstory, etc. But I absolutely loathe trying to come up with physical appearances and names for them. Naming is difficult and I have a limited understanding of good pallets and cohesive design.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas/concepts etc that would look good? Or just advice?
The first has a tentative name, being Umber, which basically means a brown colour. He’s a male wild boar anthro. He’s around late thirties in ‘canon’ of my headworld, but I draw him at all ages throughout his story. He is brother to my fursona, Tansy, and they come from a very poor family. They do not have last names because of this.
In his late-twenties, he ends up in the hands of some unsavoury characters, and has half his face obliterated. He’s left with a blind eye, a ruined ear, missing and chipped teeth, and a Glasgow grin that never heals right. He gets constant infections in his face. Yellow eyes. He’s also huge and muscular from manual labour and the like.
Here’s a sketch of him:
I just... don’t know what to do with him. My designs are always so boring. Maybe a auburn brown? Some sort of pattern? Idk. Also his name? I don’t know if I like Umber or not, as it limits my pallet.
I just don’t want to make him look too close or exactly like his sister and confuse people
Here is her:
The next character I need help with both naming AND picking a colour scheme/design for is this girl
She’s a mid-fifties goat anthro. She comes from a wealthy family, so she does have a last name. She is also experienced in the world’s magic, is quite well off and runs her own business... and murders people that stand in her way quite happily. She’s Not Nice™️
I originally had her with albinism. Then I changed it to slate grey and named her Shale. Now? Maybe muted purple/pastels? Eh. Idk. Also name? Ugh.
Any help is much appreciated. I’ve been stuck on these assholes for weeks, ugh. I’m just not adept at design.
