Willowpaw allowed her mentor to lift her chin, and the young she-cat gazed dejectedly up into Fawnstep's eyes. "I'm not even strong enough to pounce," she mumbled sadly. She was quick to spot the squirrel as her mentor set it down on the ground and her shoulders drooped even more. "I'm never going to be as good a warrior as you, I can't even jump right." At Fawnstep's suggestion, she glanced up uncertainly. She doubted she'd do much better at the stream, but she supposed Fawnstep was only trying to make her feel better after her abysmal hunting efforts.
Waspwing shrugged. "Sure, I'll finish up and head back," she mewed, her voice muffled by the feathers bird she had clasped between her teeth.
Tigerstripe winced at the thought with a grimace. "Yeah," he agreed, trying his best to push the image of a Clanmate falling into the water out of his mind, "maybe not the best idea, now that I think about it." Oh well, at least Fogstar liked my stepping stones idea, he reminded himself. When they reached the stream, the large tabby warrior peered down into the fast-flowing water and he shuddered again; he definitely wouldn't like to take a plunge into that any time soon - or ever.

{Snaketooth}
Snaketooth looked over him to the crack in the cave wall, thinking. "How thick is the wall?" He asked, tail waving back and forth. He slowly walked over to it and placed a paw on either side, pushing. It didn't budge that much for him and he hopped back. "I'm not that strong though, perhaps we can all try pushing on it? If it opens up more on the inside it can't be that thick of a wall, right?" The somewhat dimwitted tom asked Ashpelt. {Fawnstep} "Hey, don't say that! We all start somewhere. I wasn't always great at hunting or fighting." She picked up her squirrel and wrapped her tail around her apprentice. "Come on now, let's take this back to camp and then take you somewhere else to hunt or we can try to take to battle practice." She spoke through the squirrel now, purring. "Hunting Fish isn't that hard, though, at least for me it comes pretty easily you just snatch them out of the water!" {Fogstar} Fogstar eyed the water carefully, feeling a bit better now that the sun was rising up and the fog was slowly leaving the area now. "At least we can see a bit better, for now." He spoke gruffly to the warriors, making his way up a bit further. He didn't see any stepping stones yet, just water flowing. "You know, I'm beginning to think Snaketooth is a mouse-brained fool. This does not look like a stream at all." This was his attempt at a joke, which he felt was true, the water didn't really look like your typical stream. It's a bit deeper."

"Hm, that's a good point. We should probably get Ashpelt's permission." She nodded. Padding over to the grey tom, She smiled and meowed,"Mornin' Ashpelt. Do you know if there's a hunting patrol already out? Is it alright if me and Shystep go on our own hunting patrol?"

{Snaketooth}
His ears grew red and he nodded to Robinsong "Yeah her idea sounds great! Why don't we do that?" He was obviously trying to get the attention off himself now, still embarrassed about his own suggestion. "If we needed something heavy we could use that, or we could try maybe rolling a rock into it? We could try and find some up on high rocks up above us?" He tilted his head upwards to gesture to the top of the cave. "It'd be easier to find them there, no way we would be able to roll a rock heavy enough to break solid stone up to here but down? Maybe, right?"
{Cotton I changed her name to Shybird bc I'm an idiot on my medicine and I accidentally have to steps I'm sorry xD}

Rowanfrost watched as Dovefeather went to find Ashpelt. He felt if the others were getting up and beginning the day, he probably should as well. The russet tom stretched in his nest and went to join Shybird. "Mind if I join you two?" he meowed. He hadn't stretched his legs in far too long for his liking.

Dovefeather smiled, "That's a good idea, thank you Ashpelt." and turned to Rowanfrost, "That would be perfect!! Let's see if we can head west towards the Twin Trees. Prey really seems to love living around there." She suggested, flicking her tail in that direction.

{Shybird}
Shybird looked up at Rowanfrost for a moment, nodding her head. "I guess so, I'm sure Dovefeather wouldn't mind." Her voice was low, still heading her eyes as though meeting his would kill her. She lifted herself out of her nest and made her way to the entrance to head to where Dovefeather suggested. "Let's go then, we might run into the other patrol" She mewed to them, trying to make some kind of conversation. {Snaketooth} "Well let's check high rocks, we can probably roll one down from there into camp. Just..uhm..Ashpelt?" He turned to the tom quickly. "When I yell, watch out, watch out and please be prepared for a giant rock to come tumbling into camp maybe. Or into the forest, I don't have a good aim." He laughed nervously before running towards the entrance of camp, brushing his tail across Robinsong's flank in signal she should come with. "Last one to High rocks loses!" He didn't really want to make a bet, but he wanted to make it more fun because he knew it'd be a lot of heavy lifting for them.

"Great, we've had luck there so far," Rowanfrost agreed. He looked forward to hunting with his clanmates, and only hoped the popular spot hadn't been hunted too heavily for them to find anything that morning. He watched Shybird carefully after her reply. The serious tom gave her space as they began to leave, not wanting to make her nervous with his gaze or presence. As he left, he caught his sister Grovewind's gaze where she sat outside the Nursery and nodded to her.
Grovewind watched Rowanfrost leave, wanting more than anything to move her legs and follow the departing group. After moons of being looked after and lying around, she was itching to do anything fast and exciting. She looked down to Quickkit, where he was batting at a strand of ivy on the Nursery wall. The bored queen smiled at how strong her single kit was, his tiny paws looked close to the size of an apprentice's as he pawed the plant. She loved him more than anything, but couldn't imagine giving up her time as a warrior to have kits again.

As the patrol got closer, Dovefeather could hear the little scurrying of mice in the underbrush. She instinctively licked her lips in anticipation. They only needed a few minutes to reach the Twin trees. "Alright! Let's disperse around here and see how much we can catch." Her eyes lit up with an idea,"First one to catch three prey gets bragging rights!"

Waspwing had already reached the camp long before the rest of the patrol with her blackbird clamped tightly between her jaws. She had passed Robinsong and Snaketooth on the way in, and nodded a stiff greeting to her denmates as they scampered past, chattering excitedly about the High Rocks or something. She approached the freshkill-pile and deposited her catch, spitting out a few stray feathers that had snagged in her teeth.
Willowpaw nodded glumly and followed her mentor, her paws dragging slightly with each step. "Do you think I'll ever be as good as a real Clan cat?" she asked hesitantly, her voice laced with very evident sadness, "What if Fogstar never makes me a warrior because I'm just not good enough?"
Tigerstripe lowered his head as close as he could to the water's surface without getting his whiskers wet. "You're right, it's way deeper than a stream should be," he pointed out, looking up at Fogstar with slightly rounded eyes, "do you think we'll make it across at all?" He had looked upstream and downstream from where they were stood, but he couldn't see any point of crossing at all. How far down or up would they have to travel to find somewhere to cross? What if they just...couldn't cross it?

{Snaketooth}
He scanned the rocks, sunlight gleaming off of the few white ones and momentarily blinding him. He blinked for a few moments, waiting for his vision to return then it came back. "Okay, we need a pretty big one, so let's choose one big enough for us both to at least roll down to camp." He padded up the a decent sized rock, testing it with a paw. "It needs to be able to roll too, if not it's pointless." He pressed it with his paw and it quickly began to move, he shook his head as if to say it was a no go and moved on to another. {Shybird} She watched the two for a moment before disappearing into the undergrowth, glad they had left when the fog had dispersed. She found herself padding a bit away from the group, not really scenting for prey at the time. She finally zoned herself back in and opened her mouth, tasting the air for anything. {Fogstar} He examined the water carefully, sniffing at it as though that would help them at all. "We can certainly cross, we just need to find an area where the water is more shallow than here." He made his way further up, where territory opened beside them to the fields. He quickly beckoned with his tail for Tigerstripe and Waterfur to come over when he saw some rocks sticking out of the water. "Do these look solid enough for us to cross?" He pressed, sticking a paw into the water and quickly jerking it back out. {Fawnstep} She looked to Willowpaw, shocked at her concern. "Willowpaw, I wasn't born a clan cat. I was born into the kittypet lifestyle, do you think I always knew how to hunt? No, I trained as hard as I could to be the way I am. All you need is to train, which is what we are doing. Fogstar won't turn you away for not knowing to hunt as soon as you step foot into the territory or the seventh, you're still an apprentice. There is always room for improvement." She sat her squirrel next to Waspwing's prey and looked back to Willowpaw. "Do you want to grab something to eat before you head back out?"

Snaketooth visibly deflated at the thought of his own idea failing. "I guess we might have to. Where do you think we should check? Down below at the forest?" He looked out at the trees that looked like little shrubs from here, he fluffed up the little fur he had and stood up on his paws. "Let's get going then, we shouldn't keep Ashpelt waiting too long."

"I guess," Willowpaw shrugged, sighing through her nose. She supposed Fawnstep had a point; her mentor, just like her, had been a kittypet and lived with twolegs, and yet she was still a really good warrior. It might just take a long time, she reasoned. At her mentor's question, she shook her head, ignoring the little rumble in her stomach. She wanted to actually catch something before she took something from the pile. "No, I'm okay," she mewed passively, "I'll have something later."
Tigerstripe cautiously approached the rocks and reached out with a paw as Fogstar withdrew, pressing his pad carefully against the surface. "I guess there's only one way to find out," he remarked, flashing an uneasy grin at his leader. Definitely not the brightest idea, he thought, but when have I ever been known for bright ideas? The thought made him chuckle nervously as he placed his other forepaw on another stone, letting his weight fall onto his shoulders. The stones didn't give way immediately, which was a good sign, he supposed. "I mean, they don't look so bad," he hummed, testing his weight by leaning forwards and backwards.

{Snaketooth}
When they reached the forest, he was huffing and he gave her a sheepish grin. "Next time, I vote we send different cats onto this type of work after we just did all of the other work today." He grabbed a small stick and lazily tossed it aside, over exaggerating himself falling onto his side. "Let me just rest for a moment, okay?" He caught his breath, trying to slow his own breathing before they continued on. "What do you think we should look for in a stick?"{Fogstar}He watched Tigerstripe and felt his fur prick up, he felt a bit upset that he may have sent his warrior to some kind of dangerous task beside himself. I still have a few lives left to spare! He calmed down a bit when the warrior was steadied on the rocks and turned to Waterfur "Follow close behind me, okay?" He followed his warrior across the stones carefully, glancing backwards to make sure the she-cat was still close behind them. "You know, Tigerstripe, for taking the risk I think I might leave naming these up to you. But if you choose a mouse-brained name like Snaketooth's for this water, I'm going to overturn it."{I won't actually, I'll take any name you have ^^}
{Fawnstep}
She nodded at her apprentices words and mulled over ideas of training in her head, what should she do for her? She thought about taking her up to high rocks but she knew the dangers of it. Maybe she'd enjoy some battle practice? "Would you like to do some battle practice instead of hunting? Or do you want to stay here and see if Ashpelt or anyone in camp has something for you to do?" She always tried to keep herself more mature around the apprentice, it was a struggle but she felt like she was doing well enough.

Tigerstripe flashed Fogstar a toothy grin when the dark-furred tom reached the other side, turning around to face his leader on the bank. He cocked his head in thought, concentrating as he stared at the stones they'd just used to cross the river. "Uh..." he started, wracking his brain for something that might've sounded remotely impressive to his leader, "what about the Hidden Stones? Because they're like, underwater and you can't really see them," he suggested, perking up proudly.
At Fawnstep's question Willowpaw paused for a moment. "I don't mind," she admitted, offering her mentor a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes; she was still a little disheartened from her failed hunting effort. "Actually, could you show me some battle moves..? I'm not very good, and maybe I'll be a little better at that," she mewed hesitantly, blinking up at the taller she-cat.

{Fogstar}
He thought the name over in his head, before accepting it. "I like it, it sounds like a fine name for it." He looked back over to the stones when he got across and decided to help Waterfur the rest of the way across. When all three were safely across he flicked a little bit of water off of his tail, having dropped it too low on his second time on the rocks. "We should tread carefully here Tigerstripe, be wary of twolegs and any cats who seem like they want to fight. I don't know if Owltuft would like us to come back with a few more scratches than needed." He took the lead and made his way closer to the twoleg dens, hiding along the bushes. {I hope it's okay I'm moving your character a bit, protractor, when you get back. ^^ Also if you want, they can find some background cats we can just use for patrols or hostiles I'm fine either way} {Fawnstep} Fawnstep quickly made her way to the exit of camp, calling out to Ashpelt that they would be out having battle practice in case they were needed. When she had left the darkness of the cave into the sunshine, she seemed to perk up and fill with energy. "Willowpaw, when we get there I'm going to show you some basic battle moves okay? Mainly defense for now, just so you can be safe in case of an attack." She couldn't wait to start practicing in the new training area they had found down alongside the mountain. "I want to start on the bottom of the training side, so we don't risk you falling and hurting yourself." She tried to remember some basic defense moves in her head as they continued on.

Waterfur scented the air a couple times."All I can smell around here is the water and damp ground and wood!"She growled.She looked around and saw a few bushes that had a certain vibe that she didn't want an explanation for.She crept in behind Fogstar and kept her ears swiveled back,hoping she would catch anything out of place.

{Snaketooth}
He rolled his eyes, getting up and lightly nudging her with his shoulder as he brushed past. "So me right? I already tried to open the hole and I don't think I did much damage to it." He joked, teasing her as he rolled a few sticks forward with his paws. He was about to give up on their search but he found one that was rather thick and sturdy. "Does this look like it might work? We will be the strongest warriors in the clan by the time we get it to camp, but it should be worth it." {Fogstar} He swiped his tail to the she-cat, trying to tell her to keep her voice low. "I dont scent any cats either, do you think we should head back to camp or-" He stopped, pricking his ears as he heard something in the bushes to their right, he quickly slipped out of his hiding and closer to where the noise was to inspect it.
