Hey! If you don’t know me, I’m Pallas, previously known as Semper. You can call me whatever you like though
I feel like doing a little one on one. I’m happy to do pretty much anything from historical to slice-of-life to romance to fandom-related stuff. I’m happy to do most things.
I tend to prefer rping females but I’m happy to do a male character too and any gender pairing is alright for me. All I ask is you do at least ten lines of roleplay so I have enough to respond to.
Please do let let me know if you’re interested.

Hi! I think I've posted on one of your previous threads before... anyway, I have a historical-romance plot I'd like to reuse, if you'd be interested?

Oh I remember you! Man I’m so flaky. I’m gonna bookmark this thread so I am less likely to forget to reply. Ugh sorry for abandoning you
I would love to hear your idea)

No problem, it happens to the best of us! Here's the basic concept:
The setting is WWII. Character A is a reserved, cynical bartender who has been overseeing their quiet family-owned pub in the absence of their enlisted relatives. Every day is more or less the same, until one evening when Character B walks in the door, fresh off the draft, and turns Character A's predictable life upside-down. Character B is idealistic, somewhat cocky, and has a thing for foreign accents. The United States has just entered the war, and they've been stationed temporarily in Character A's country while awaiting deployment to the front. Due to conflicting personalities, our characters don't get along at first. Yet Character B comes back to the pub each night without fail, and soon a strange relationship begins to develop. But friendships and romance in wartime are never permanent, and it's only a matter of time before Character B is sent to the battle zone... what happens then is up to us!
So, thoughts? I know this sounds really structured, but it's intended to be flexible. We could add or subtract details, or just start from here and go forward with it. I'm open to any suggestions you have as well!

(Ooh I’m liking it! That sounds so fun I don’t have any suggestions yet but for me that kind of thing usually pops up as we’re rping. I have to go to bed soon but I would be happy to discuss this more with you and whip up a character maybe tomorrow, depending on whether you’d prefer to make forms or describe through rp or howvee you want to do it. Which character do you feel you’d rather be?)

Glad you like it! And generally I prefer to develop character through rp, but maybe a two-sentence description and a faceclaim would be nice. I would enjoy being Character B, unless you have a really strong preference for that one (:

(Nope that’s cool with me I’ll take character A. I’ll probably get a faceclaim and some information up tomorrow about her. Forgive any typos in this and my previous posts, I’m pretty tired and on mobile. I’m gonna go to bed. Bye!)

Okay, so this is Marion Parker, she is 25 years old. She’s pretty quiet and reserved, but this is in no way due to shyness. She is intelligent and witty, with a sharp mind and an equally sharp tongue. She’s pretty cynical, but she has a good heart really, though she doesn’t always like to show it

She's lovely! Here's Alexander Jones, he's 27 and he has brown hair and blue eyes. He's a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force with a passion for aviation. He's cocky in a charming sort of way and likes to tease. He's stubbornly optimistic about the outcome of the war, but seems to hide his insecurities behind the guise of swagger all young servicemen have. He feels isolated in this foreign country and loneliness makes him uncomfortable, so he wants to make some memories before he is deployed to face certain death. But, he is worried about growing too close to anyone during his stay.

Hmm, how about England? I seem to remember some 60,000 Americans were stationed there by 1942, and the English joked that the yanks were "overpaid, oversexed, and over here." What do you think?

(I like it the name works too in that case. And I’m more than comfortable rping a British girl So is there anything else you’d like to discuss or any plot things you want to iron out?)

I have a few twists we could throw in, if we want to:
a) Alex has a girlfriend back in the U.S., which brings up conflicting feelings when he starts to fall for Marion b) Marion loses a family member in the war c) Alex is injured in a dogfight once he's sent out d) Marion struggles to keep the pub open under the strain of rationing
Just brainstorming, totally optional. We could pick from one of those or just keep the plot the way it is (:

(Ooh they all look really good. I’m thinking we could maybe take a struggle for each of our characters? So one of the Alex ideas and one for Marion? For Marion the losing the family member is sadder but I think struggling with the pub is more of a conflict she’d have to deal with so... maybe the pub one? I don’t know
Also should Marion be quite middle-class/Southern English or are we thinking a slightly different, more tough and working class feel? If we went working class she could be a tough ol’ Northern girl)

That's a nice compromise, one for each. I think it would be interesting to give Alex a sweetheart back at home, and probably pretty realistic, too. I don't want to decide Marion's conflict since she's your character tho.
I think tough ol' Northern girl and idealistic Midwestern boy could be a cute dynamic. What city should we put them in?

Yeah I like that idea for Alex. For Marion I’ll probably go with the pub idea because that is more of a conflict y’know? Grief would create a very different kind of conflict for her. But she will have family members fighting anyway so there is always that stress for her.
Yeah that sounds cute. Hmmm well some northern cities could be like Newcastle? There would have been a major port at Sunderland, not too far away, and there were air bases like RAF Usworth close by. Other options include Manchester, an industrial town)

I like the sound of Sunderland!

So, any other thoughts before we start?

Haha yeah it should be. Meh it’s alright haha. It’s pretty industrial too so an ideal 1940s setting
Nah I think I’m all good if you are. Would you prefer for me to start or would you like to start? I’m fine either way)

(I’m just giving an idea of her accent I probably won’t maintain it throughout the rp. If I include slang I’ll let you know what it means and if you have any trouble at any point figuring out what she’s on about let me know)
A young woman stood behind a bar in a little pub. It was small and cosy, welcoming with its golden light spilling out onto the cobbled street. Comfy chairs and tables filled the place, but the pub had little in the way of patrons at the moment despite being one of the most popular in her little corner of Sunderland.
The city was full of good people. The area was a little deprived of money, but it wasn’t too bad. The weather was usually grey, cold and a little rainy, and the chimneys of factories dominated the landscape. But on the east side of the city were the docks, a huge trading hub leading out into the glimmering sea. On the other side was countryside, beautiful moors covered in flowers in the summer months. The people living here were tough, but good, honest and hardworking. Most worked in the factories, the mines, or the docks. Or they had, before the war.
Now many of the men were out fighting in the war, and had taken their custom with them. Some hadn’t come back, and Marion had already seen the widows. Munitions factory workers who would likely lose their jobs when the war ended so the men could return to work. Women who had to support their families somehow.
Marion has taken over the running of her little family pub. It had been there and owned by her family for generations and was well-known by the locals. Luckily for her, because that meant that the custom she lost was gradually getting replaced. The American soldiers on placement here would be recommended her little pub by the local people. Or so she hoped.
“Alright, John?” Marion said in greeting to one of her regulars, a middle-aged man and a member of the Home Guard “the usual, is it, then?”
The man gave a nod and Marion deftly poured him a pint of his favourite beer, passing it over to him. He put some coins on the counter, which she took with a smile
“Alreet, now dinnit drink it too quickly. I’ll be ‘avin’ none of your messin’ about tonight.” Marion warned with a raised eyebrow
The man growled an affirming ‘aye’ and took a seat with his friends across the room. Marion rolled her eyes. She knew what John got like when he got drunk. She always knew how to deal with him, but she just wasn’t in the mood to be doing so tonight. He got too loud and raucous and it would be so expensive to fix any damage she did. Plus it was exhausting trying to stop fights from happening.
So she kept an eye on him, hoping he’d be alright, cleaning the bar as her blue eyes scanned the room.
