Sweet! I think we got all that we needed in the way of animals. Now we just need to figure out the layout of the park.

also, i could try my hand at some art- i’ll probably do best at the map. i’m headed to school now, but i think i’ll work on some sketches there. i know we don’t have the layout yet so i’ll try a few drafts. c:

We have all the animals. So if you can figure out a good sketch yourself, let me know! Most parks are circular so keep that in mind.

this is the first map i came up with. its quite rough :/ bottom left: grass + trees (panthers, tigers, lions?) bottom right: greenhouse + large aviary (parrots, macaws, owls?) top left: grass + trees (gazelle, elk, zebra?) middle right: pond + small shore (ducks + tortoise?) middle: small pond + shore (flamingos?) i know im missing a place for rodents and reptiles. i tried looking at wildlife park maps for inspiration, but theyre pretty complex. what should i add/where?

It looks great so far! I would suggest putting the reptile house on the opposite side of the park from the aviary to try and draw people fully through the park (Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection, don't let me down). We still need a store near the entrance, an education area, another shop (near the middle), and a restaurant. Wildlife parks aren't small so the map is going to be pretty big. I'll pull up the ones I've been using to base stuff on. Maybe that can help us a bit. But I like that area you have for the ducks, tortoise, and flamingos!

I kind of like how you had it. But! We might want to put what was the "main" attraction near the center. I was thinking since big cats usually are some of the biggest pulls, we can have the jaguar and clouded leopard near there. Let me update the front page with the new reptile and amphibian list.

I'm glad! They are smaller locations but still have a good amount of animals. Chehaw has a very, very, very large property with only a small portion going to their numerous animals. It's just that big. The central Florida zoo is more condensed but focuses more on smaller animals and leaves out the larger ones. Lake Tobias is small as well and has fewer animals but has a "safari" ride to see more of the herd-like animals, freeing up space more and allowing more variety around that area.

again, very rough. i just need to know if this kind of thing will work before i continue with colouring and landmarks (im sorry if i oversold my skills) 1- large water enclosure 2- big cat enclosure ( main attraction ) 3- from what i saw when i looked up images and such, parks often have small cages for the birds nests inside or next to a large secure space for the birds to fly. 4- parking lot, restaurant, gift shop, information centre, ticket booth. second shop up higher. i counted, and i actually have to many enclosures according to the list. ill switch around the size and placements. I took a different approach, i outlined the enclosures and let the gaps between be the path, i think its more realistic. Will this work better?

That looks great! Do you think you could add a little bit of room in a few places just to space things out a bit more? I love how it currently looks! I cannot wait to see the ending map!

Badgers - caged, dirt/dusty with fallen logs, burrows, and little undergrowth (medium sized enclosure) North American Wolves - high walled but open, undergrowth but with paths, man-made wooden dens, pine trees (large enclosure) Red-tailed Hawk - caged, lots of perches, wooden box for nesting (small enclosure) Zebra, Gazelle, Gemsbok, Emu, and East African Crowned Crane - fenced, completely open plains-like area with a few trees for shade, wooden structures for shelter, little water area for natural grazing and such, wooden troughs for food (extra large enclosure) Elk - fenced, less open with little undergrowth, pine trees, wooden structures for shelter, water area for natural grazing and such, wooden troughs for food (large enclosure) Camel - wooden fenced, sandy area, no trees or undergrowth, wooden structures for shade and shelter, wooden troughs for food and water (medium-large enclosure) Jaguar - caged, thick undergrowth and trees, wooden structure for shelter, little water area for swimming (large enclosure) Clouded Leopard - caged, thick undergrowth and trees, lots of area for climbing, little water area for swimming, wooden structure off to the side for shelter and breeding (medium enclosure) Gopher Tortoise - wooden-low fence, dirt area with shrubs on the edges, wooden-slightly burrowed structures for shelter (small-medium enclosure) Black bear - caged, undergrowth and trees, water area for swimming, caged structure off to the side for shelter (large enclosure) Ring-tailed Lemur - caged, little undergrowth, lots of climbing area, high wooden structures for shelter (small enclosure) Red Ruffed Lemur - caged, little undergrowth, lots of climbing area, high wooden structures for shelter (small enclosure) *Flamingos, Wood Ducks, Mallard, Ring Tealed Duck, and Black-Bellied Whistling Duck - caged area that you enter into, fenced area for the birds, large water area with undergrowth around the edges (large enclosure) *Red Macaw, Blue and Gold Macaw, and Green Macaw - caged, lots of places to perch, high wooden structures for shelter (small enclosure) *Great Egret - caged, large water area for feeding, little undergrowth on the sides (small enclosure) *Barn Owl - caged, lots of perch area, trees for hiding, high wooden structure for shelter (small enclosure) *Great Horned Owl - caged, lots of perch area, trees for hiding, high wooden structure for shelter (small enclosure) Reptile, Amphibian, and Insect House: Chameleon, Pygmy Short-Horned Lizard, Spiny-Tailed Iguana, Poison Dart Frog, Eastern Coral Snake, Emerald Tree Boa, Eastern Rattlesnake, Yellowed-Bellied Toad, Leaf-Tailed Gecko, and Colbalt Blue Tarantula - all were tank-like, climate controlled habitats that were tailored to each creatures' individual needs (building was nicely sized but smaller than the restaurant)
*All birds are in the same area part of the aviary. Those not listed together are in separate enclosures for animal safety reasons as well a human.
All are now completely overgrown. Many of the fences have places that have broken down and most of the wooden has rotten away. You can still kind of tell what animal when where by the faded signs and how the habitats still look similar to what they were (I will personally go into detail with how they look now because some of the habitats will now be den areas). The buildings have almost completely collapsed in with them still resembling structures. Everything is very overgrown. This link is the only example I could find of an overgrown wildlife park:

dang, thats a lot of details. ill do my best, but that sounds like its beyond my abilities. i dont mean to sound rude, this is a great idea, but are all the enclosure and building details necessary for the RP, especially if the park is shut down?

Not really. I just wanted a simple layout of how the park looked beforehand to give people an idea then another simple one of how it looks now. It doesn't have to be incredible detailed. When I write it, it probably will be more detailed. Some of the enclosures will be the "camp" part or at least where the specific positions will be (i.e. - medicine cat in the flamingo habitat, apprentices in the tortoise habitat, etc.) while the rest will be landmarks for hunting. The whole park is going to be the territory so it makes sense to have something down. I'm also a stickler for details so I get really involved. Plus, it opens up names for everyone that might join. You would be easily able to name your character Zebrapaw or Macawfeather or Tarantulafur without needing to have those specific animals in your habitat of the clan.

Hi, everyone! I plan on getting as much done as possible today. The biggest thing for me will be completing the territory, landmarks, and camp. Also the history of the park. Once those are done, everything else is mostly smooth sailing. I've got to figure out where the park is located. So far, I'm thinking Middle North America where it can still snow. Or near Oregon. I'm thinking that might be the best place.

Hi, everyone! I will be trying to finish the "landmark" today. They aren't really landmark. More like where the old cages and such were. They will still be areas were cats are sent to hunt. I decided to not put landmarks outside of the fenced in area because wildlife parks are usually very large! So it isn't a small territory. It might look it, but it's not. If you have any ideas, I am open to them!

I'm a little torn. Mostly because it will work like a clan but not be exactly clan like. (I'm trying to think of how I can edit the warrior code to be more welcoming to strangers.) So a clan name isn't really needed, but it has to be called something other than rogue group because it works like a clan!

Post by ᴀᴄʜʀᴏᴍᴀᴛɪᴄ on Mar 11, 2019 17:55:53 GMT -5
Perhaps you could just throw away whatever parts of the warrior code you don’t want and make your own? The clan could adopt the philosophy that strength comes in numbers, and that you must always help a cat in need, or something like that?

That could work! But is that more code or culture? Also, so far it looks like RuinClan in winning! Two days left to vote!

what if the group had a tribe like name, or the name was more location based? like the cats of the ruins or the hidden homes (obviously those arent that great, but just something of that nature)

I like the Cats of the Ruins! That is something creative! I'm just trying to figure out how to word things properly. Maybe once we get it narrowed down to a clan name, we can have another vote for something like that. Would be interesting to see what people some up with. Also, I am currently in the middle of a bad flunk. I'm not sure what is going on, but it's getting hard for me to do anything right now. I want to get this done but don't seem to have the energy to. I'm going to do my best to get it done by the end of this week. But I can sadly make no promises right now.

Hello everyone! Good news! I managed to get the "landmarks" all done! I'll try and post it tomorrow since I need to head to bed now (5AM wake-up call for work). After that, I can start working on the camp! Slight change to that: I've made the aviary the whole camp now. It just made more sense rather than spreading it out a lot. I hope it still works ok! I think it does. Hopefully you will agree too when you get a chance to read it what I'm done.
