This trip was so supposed to be relaxing. A break from the normal stresses of your life. For once there would be no work, nobody you didn’t want to deal with, and simple relaxation. It didn’t matter who you were with - friends, siblings, boyfriend, girlfriend - or if you were on your own. Winter’s Haven was your place to finally get some time to do what you wanted to do.
The resort looked amazing from the second you opened the door and smiled at the white haired man greeting you. “My name is Zephyr Sanders and I’d like to welcome you to Winter’s Haven.” Zephyr smiled as he gestured you towards the silver haired man behind the desk.
This break was going to be great.

Our characters have all somehow ended up on vacation at Winter’s Haven. Maybe they bought it for themselves or won a trip or any other way of getting there. Why they’re there isn’t important. What is important is that their luxury winter vacations take a turn for the worst when disaster strikes and the guests come to face to face with the prospect of their own deaths.
Activity We aren’t expecting a post every day, though once a week (post or ooc) or so would be good. If this is difficult due to life situations, just let us know. There’s also a Discord server for plotting and ooc talk. Just ask for the link.
Level Feel free to type however much you want. I ask for a minimum of a good paragraph or so, but there is no upper limit. I do ask for a decent grasp on the English language, but nobody will attack you for typos.
Basics This one is pretty basic. Just follow forum rules and stick with the usually accepted etiquette - no powerplaying or godmodding or taking control or throwing yourself in the spotlight.
Characters We’re starting with a five character limit but there’s a 99% chance that’s gonna be destroyed. Just don’t overpower your characters. They’re supposed to be human. Also, *one* of your characters can develop some kind of power.

Winter’s Haven is a small resort nestled in the wild mountains of Alaska. It was opened by Bartholomew and Magdalena Sanders in 1862 as a small four room inn for weary travelers. Over the years, Winter’s Haven has grown to be somewhat well known, now ran by Boreas Sanders and his more mature brother, Zephyr Sanders.
The front door leads to a large and well lit lobby with a sitting area, front desk, and fireplace. A door on the right leads to a pool and hot tub. A door on the left leads to an arcade and restaurant. To the back are the elevators.
Each floor contains an assortment of room styles offered by Winter’s Haven. The single is a simple room with one bed, one bathroom, a microwave, and a fridge. The double contains two beds, one bathroom, and a small kitchen. The triple constrains three beds, one bathroom, and a small kitchen. The suite contains four beds, two bathrooms, and a slightly larger kitchen.

Terrorbirds The terrorbirds, unseen for millions of years, are well hidden within the woods surrounding Winter’s Haven. These terrifying creatures are about 6-9 feet tall. Despite their size, they’re quick and nimble and can reach speeds of 30 MPH. Terrorbirds have long and flexible necks. They’re unable to fly, but are relentless in pursuit of their next meals.
Wendigo The Wendigo is not a creature to trifle with. It is said that anybody who so much as encounters one of these horrifying spirits will meet their end, that there is no escape. They are incredibly fast and ruthless, yet don't mistake their ruthless behavior for them acting out only through instinct. They are eerily intelligent and can plan much like any regular human. Description wise they are extremely tall with a lanky, skeletal figure. They tend to look humanoid for the most part, but upon their bodies one can find shaggy fur resembling that of a wolf's and of an elk's. Along with the already elk-ish features, these creatures have a set of antlers upon their heads. They survive off of human meat and will do whatever they can to satisfy their hunger.
The Storm While Winter’s Haven prepares themselves for the worst, but this incoming snow storm is one of the worst in history. Nicknamed Percy, this storm has already cut down communication with the outside world and shut down any way in or out of the resort. For now, the resort has enough warmth and food, but nobody knows how long it’ll last.

Benjamin "Ben" O'Malley it is often that a person's mouth broke his nose
As a native California boy, Ben did not do well in the cold. In fact, he rather hated it. And that is why his sister chose Alaska as their family vacation destination. Deep down, she loved to torment him. Nevertheless, it wouldn't make a difference. Amelia couldn't ruin everything about this trip, no matter how hard she tried. In her defense though, she'd do her very best.
Nothing she did could keep him from Talia, and therefore made her mission impossible. He hadn't seen his girlfriend in months. Months! She had too much to do with school, and he couldn't leave Amelia for more than a week at a time. Neither of them could record more than three videos. He never understood how some people could stockpile weeks worth of videos. That took too much out of them, and they had two creative minds going at it.
Whack! His thoughts were interrupted by Amelia's fist pounding on his chest, "Ben! Ben! Look at how cool the resort is!! Ahhh, this trip is going to be so much fun!" She was practically bouncing in her seat. As the younger brother, Ben should probably be more annoyed at her constantly being irritating. Maybe it was years of patience, but he usually just went along with it quietly. This time, though, her energy radiated off and effected him. He was bouncing too. It was weird.
To be fair, Talia was there. He'd blame her on this reaction. "Cool? I think you mean cold, Lia." Ben snorted at his own joke, like the little looser he is. Ignoring whatever response Amelia deemed fit, he sent a text to his girlfriend, saying that the car was pulling in. Even though he was so close to her, he still was dreading the snow. Stupid frozen water molecules. He just wanted the sun again, was that too much to ask for? A little bit of sunshine? It would make everything perfect.
Instead of being a normal person, he just stared at his phone. Seeing her again would happen so soon, he couldn't concentrate on anything else. He could hear his twin scoffing, but he really didn't care. She could think whatever she wanted. Talia was literally a few minutes away. Everything felt too good to be true, in his mind. He couldn't even remember the last time they were together.
This was a big lie. He was being dramatic. Sue him. He was allowed to. Long distance relationships sucked. The only reason he agreed to it was because his feelings for her wouldn't go away. They had followed him for the first year of their relationship, nagging at him to lock her down with commitment. He had caved, after what had felt like forever.
Amelia prodded his side with her elbow, "Careful lover boy, don't faint because you're too excited. Remember the first time you saw a skate park?" She had to bring that up, of course. She was always going to be out to get him. She couldn't help but make every comment that could possibly dig at him.
"Mhm, and the time you peed your pants after seeing the lines to Disney world?" Ben reminded her with a cheeky smile, "You need a diaper, big sis?" He could play the game too, and he knew how to shut her up. True to his plan, she didn't respond. She had lost and they both knew it.

Talia Fae Doyle ”Quiet people have the loudest minds”
”So what are you most excited for, huh, Tallie?” Harrison asked, leaning over to poke his sister in the shoulder. The quads had been talking about what they were most excited for with this vacation. Ashton was excited for the skiing and snowboarding and ice skating opportunities. Harrison was excited to get out into the wild mountains of Alaska. Cassidy was excited for the parties that she was sure she’d be able to crash while she was there. Talia was the only one that hadn’t actually answered yet.
”Oh, uh, the reviews said that the hot chocolate bar is to die for,” Talia answered absently, her mind focused on a completely different person that wasn’t even in the car with him.
”Awwww, we know that’s not it,” Harrison teased, poking her and earning a small blush as his sister tried to fight back a smile. ”I knew it! You’re excited for Ben!” he said.
”Of course she is, you idiot. Long distance relationships suck and she finally gets to see her boy,” Cassidy said, leaning over from the front seat to shove Harrison’s shoulder. Talia sent her sister a grateful look as Ash glanced at them in the rearview mirror.
”I’m still not sure about this, guys... A random resort in the middle of the mountains? Sounds sketchy,” he added, steering the conversation away from Ben for a moment.
Harrison shook his head. ”It’s fine, dude. Lots of good reviews. You’re just unhappy about having to leave Ava with Mom and Dad,” he said. When a few seconds went by without a comment from the oldest quad, Harrison looked at Cassidy and stuck out his tongue. ”See? I know how my siblings work. I was just teasing Talia about the Ben thing.”
”Sure you were,” Cassidy said, telling her eyes. The youngest then turned to Talia. ”I’m just glad I finally get a chance to beat him if he’s not treating my sister right,” she said playfully. Her siblings knew Ben, but Talia was normally on her own when she flew or drove out to visit him. The idea of the other three spending an extended period of time with him was a little scary, but Talia did her best not to let it get to her.
Ashton found a parking spot and turned the car off. While the four were getting out, Talia looked around, but saw no sign of Ben yet. ”Come on, Tal,” Ash said, snapping her out of it. He tossed her a bag of clothes and a second bag of food to help carry stuff into the resort.
”You could have at least checked us in first,” Cassidy grumbled as she followed Ashton into the resort, struggling with the weight of the bags for a moment.
”Wow,” Talia said when she entered, hearing a similar response from Harrison right away.
”This place is amazing,” Harrison said, looking around. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling and white furniture dotted the lobby area. Talia did her best to wipe her boots off on the entrance rug, not wanting to get dirty snow all over the white rugs and hardwood floor leading up to the front desk.
A man with short white hair stood behind the desk, grinning as the four walked up to him. ”Welcome to Winter’s Haven. My name is Zephyr and I hope you have an amazing time,” he said, handing over the room key once the group was checked in.
”Thanks, Zephyr,” Talia said. She turned to Ashton, who hadn’t really taken any bags. Her phone had buzzed with a text from Ben while Ash had been checking in. ”I’m gonna get more bags so you can take these,” she explained, though she clearly had different motivations for going outside than just getting more bags.
Ashton, clearly seeing this as a rare opportunity to actually tease one of his siblings, shook his head. ”My arm is still messed up,” he lied, handing the bags back to Talia. ”I’m gonna need you to carry these and then I’ll get the room set up while you there get more bags,” he said, turning around and walking towards the elevator with a satisfied smirk on his face.
Talia rolled her eyes but followed her brothers and sister up towards the elevator. ”31,” she murmured, looking around Ashton’s shoulder to read the room number as the elevator door closed on them. Their was silence for once between the four as the doors opened at floor three.
The room itself was amazing, with two bedrooms total - two beds each. Talia wasted no time placing her two bags on the small couch in the center living room area before pulling out her phone on her way to the elevators. She sent a text to Ben, telling him that she was on her way down to the parking lot.
She emerged from the resort as snow began to fall, slightly cold even in her jacket. But that didn’t stop a smile from forming when she recognized the Ben’s face in one of the cars. ”Ben!” she called out, not even caring to watch for patches of ice as she ran towards the car. Luckily there was no ice covering the pavement.

Benjamin "Ben" O'Malley it is often that a person's mouth broke his nose Ben hadn't wanted to leave the car. In fact, he was waiting until Amelia and the bags were ready to go inside rather than get out of the car. He could see the beginnings of snow flurries. There was no way he was leaving his warm sanctuary. Besides, Talia hadn't responded yet. That meant he had time.
While he was being a baby, Amelia had already moved the bags from the trunk to the front entrance. At least she was being nice and not making him help. All his jackets were packed, he didn't think he'd need one for the plane ride. Once they got here, he could easily pull one out.
Oh. There was his sister's evil plan. His bags were inside too, which meant so was his jacket. Which meant a freezing run from the car to the lobby. He could see her smirk from the doors. She was much too pleased with herself, had her camera out and everything. She was going to snapchat this, he just knew it.
Well, jokes on her! He had the keys. He could stay in the car for as long as he needed to. She'd get bored and give up eventually. Ben was too distracted to notice his phone buzz with a new message, but was not blind enough not to see the flurry of Talia's running.
Amelia stood back, grinning. She had won this time. He needed to keep a tally for this trip. He could hear his sister's yelling, even over the car, "Don't slip, Talia! He'll cry." Ben rolled his eyes, but couldn't say there was any lie in her statement. He would, in fact, end up crying if she got hurt.
Taking a deep breathe, he turned off the car and jetted out, making sure to lock it before making contact with Talia. With his luck, he'd end up forgetting once she was in his arms. Speaking of, he was running. With snow. Wow, it was cold. And snowing? His shoes had no traction. "Ben!" Amelia's yelling wasn't helpful.
A stream of words started flying, but Ben was able to stay upright. Moving was a bad idea, but it was also very cold and Talia was right there. He started walking with care, but once she was a few steps away he started too quickly again.
This time he fell, on his face. "Ow." He couldn't see his sister's triumphant smile, couldn't see her posting his fall on social media. Ben just had to lay there for a second. He was cold, in just jeans and a long sleeve. His face hurt, smashed into the ground. He needed a second to just soak in the failure.
The worst part is that Talia had seen it. Now, he had done some embarrassing things but. This was next level. He had been a few steps away from a glorious hug and he had fallen right on his face. Nothing felt like it was bleeding, at least. With a grunt, he stood up and gave her his best sheepish grin, "Guess you could say I'm fallin' for you."
His sister made a loud gagging noise and went inside, leaving the couple to greet each other. If Ben could joke, with a very bad joke at that, then he was fine and didn't need any help.

Talia Fae Doyle ”Quiet people have the loudest minds”
Any annoyance at her siblings was now gone at the idea of reuniting with Ben. Sure, this was a family vacation, and she was sure Ben would want some time with Amelia as well, but Talia didn’t have any plans to let her boyfriend spend the weekend on his own. She could make time for family and Ben. After all, she saw her family a lot and rarely got to see Ben.
Honestly, if she didn’t have school, she would probably travel with him a lot more so they didn’t have to be apart as much as they currently were. But being a vet had been her dream for years. It didn’t feel right throwing that away, especially with how hard she’d worked to get into such a good school. Even if Ben was worth sacrificing things for.
Talia grinned when she noticed Amelia as well, a bit embarrassed at having not noticed her because she was too focused on the boy hiding out in the car. ”Well, I’m going to try my best to make it through this vacation with a tear free Ben,”she promised the other girl.
She turned back to see Ben finally emerging from the vehicle and struggling on the wall to her. ”Ben!” she yelled, half excitement and half fear. She let out a sigh of relief when he managed to stay on his feet and just grinned. She wanted to rush forward and meet him half way, but didn’t want to crash into him and knock them both to the ground. Now that would be very embarrassing.
Instead, Talia watched and flinched when she saw him fall to the ground. ”Ben!” she shouted. This time she continued to walk - slowly and carefully - to his side. He was on his feet by the time she got there and she laughed at his comment. ”You’re so cheesy,” she said, but there was a smile on her face.
”I missed you, Benjamin,” she said, not caring about the cold or his fall anymore. She hugged him right there in front of the resort, not wanting to let go. She held onto him for a few more moments and then glanced over at where Ashton had parked the car.
”Wanna help me grab a few things since we’re out here anyway? Then we can ditch the bags in my room and warm you up with some hot chocolate,” she promised. While she was cold, she knew that she dealt with the freezing weather better than Ben did.
”But if you don’t want to help, you can head in and warm up? I don’t mind,” she offered, not wanting to make Ben endure the cold if he didn’t want to... especially after he’d taken that hit. Or his face had hit the ground. Either way, poor Ben had ended up in at least some amount of pain. At least, she assumed that a fall like that had to hurt him at least a little.
She moved towards her own family’s car, finally releasing Ben completely so that he could choose if he wanted to help her or enjoy the warmth that the resort had to offer.
She opened up the back of the car and grabbed Ashton’s duffel bag and the backpack that was just filled with some extra stuff that the quads decided might be useful. ”By the way, I know Harrison and Cassidy are excited to see you. And Ash is just a punk so don’t worry about him,” she said.
Her brother actually was a decent guy... just not very social. Although, Talia couldn’t blame him when she wasn’t very social either. Just in a different way. She was why while Ash just preferred to not speak. When Talia knew and trusted someone - like Ben and her siblings - she didn’t shut up as easily.

Benjamin "Ben" O'Malley it is often that a person's mouth broke his nose "I do my best," He shrugged. His jokes were peak comedy, after all. Nothing could beat a good pun. He matched her smile easily, proud of himself at making her laugh. At her words, his heart warmed. On the logical side of things, he knew they missed each other when apart. But, with emotions running high, there was something about hearing the words to confirm it. The way it just made him feel better was exactly what he needed. "I missed you too, Talia."
Once she was in his arms, he felt centered. Finally, Ben thought to himself, holding her tight. It had been way too long. He needed to get better about taking those vacations. To be fair, though, that would probably distract her too much from school and he really didn't want to make her feel like she had to choose between him and her dreams. That's why they had set up the whole long distance thing in the first place. He didn't need school for his dreams, but he would've been pissed if someone tried to stop him from accomplishing them.
He frowned at the loss of her warmth when she let go, making a promise to himself to hug her again at the first chance possible. Maybe not until they were away from any of their siblings, though. Yeah, that sounded like his best bet for a very long hug.
Ben was fine after the fall, really. He fell all the time. This wasn't anything new. Sure, his nose hurt a lot and there's no way he didn't have some scratched up skin but overall, he was okay. His jeans made it out without getting torn, so there was still cause to be thankful. The cold, though, that sucked. Snow was awful, he just wanted to go inside with Talia.
Unfortunately, no one always got whatever they wanted, and she needed help. It had never been a question, no matter the goosebumps prickling his arms. "Of course i'm helping you. Hot chocolate still sounds good though, please tell me we can still do that." Ben snorted, shaking his head but hanging back for just a second to build up the courage to walk on the pavement again. He carefully moved over to their car, taking care not to fall again. There was no doubt of certain death if he ended up falling again.
So he grabbed the rest of the bags, because he was a good person and liked to help her. Was it worth feeling frozen? Probably not, but being helpful was not about what it brought you as a person. It's not like the bags were too heavy, either. He was used to lugging around camera equipment all the time. This was nothing compared to that.
"I'm not worried about any of your siblings, Tal." He should his head, putting on a brave face. Cassidy was a lot like his sister, he was used to a certain type of torment. Ashton was where the fear really set in. He didn't want to get into a physical fight with Talia's brother. Men are weird and violent, and he hadn't been around Ashton much. He internalized this fear, even with Talia's words.
It's not like he didn't trust her judgement but that he knew how he'd react if Amelia brought home one of her boyfriends. Well, okay, that was completely different actually. Amelia didn't have boyfriends. She had conquests and didn't do commitment. But if she did! He'd make sure the guy was worthy. And, well, he didn't necessarily feel worthy of Talia.

Winnie Winnie pulled her luggage out of the trunk of the taxi, setting it down and heading around to driver side window so she could pay. The ride had been exhausting, and she couldn't wait to check in, then hopefully get in a nap in her room, before finally checking out the rest of the resort. This winter vacation had been a birthday present from her mother, the kind of thing she wouldn't normally buy herself. Marlene hadn't been around consistently since she was eight, so presents from her were normally like that. Of course, even if it wasn't something she would have picked out, Winnie wasn't about to say no to a few weeks in a resort. A private room, more hot chocolate than she'd ever need, and hopefully a hot tub? Why would she turn that down, even if it was alone? So, she'd packed her bags and caught a bus to the nearest town, then gotten the taxi. She tugged her bag behind her, pulling her unzipped coat a little tighter against the chill, and headed towards the check in, eyeing the other groups of people just showing up with interest. Being here so long on her own wouldn't be fun if she didn't at least try to make friends.

Talia Fae Doyle ”Quiet people have the loudest minds”
It was nice to be around Ben again. Nobody in her family made quite as good puns as he did. Sure, maybe that was a stupid reason for missing him, but it was fine when grouped with the rest of her reasons. Honestly, did she even need a reason? She just missed him when they were apart and didn’t see why she had to justify it to anyone.
Of course, most people never asked why she missed Ben. It was pretty obvious.
”The calls and texts and video chats aren’t enough,” she said. Sure, she did whatever she could to keep in contact with him when she couldn’t travel out to meet him wherever he was, but it just wasn’t the same as being able to touch him and hear his voice normally or just be around him.
Still, hearing that he missed her made her smile. She knew he had missed her, but hearing him say it just made it more real. He was thinking about her when she wasn’t there, just like she was thinking about him when she wasn’t there.
At least she didn’t have to worry about missing him now. Now they had time together and she was going to make sure they actually used it and enjoyed each other’s presence. In fact, she had a whole list of things she wanted to do with Ben before they went their separate ways. Her eyes lit up when she realized that.
”Ben, there’s so much we can do before we head home! We can make gingerbread houses or bake cookies or choose something on Netflix to binge or go sledding or explore the woods or go skiing or mess with our siblings or try something new to eat. The town is a bit of a drive, but I read online that they have a lot of food options,” she said, explaining everything to him as she lead the way to the car. ”I mean, obviously we can’t do it all today but we can fit in as much as possible.”
”We can definitely still do hot chocolate,” she said when he agreed to helping her carry things in. ”They’re supposed to have a great hot chocolate bar. Whipped cream and marshmallows and cinnamon and cookies and just... It sounds great. I figured we could check that out and then maybe kick one of our siblings out of one one our rooms so we can watch a movie. You know, just have a chill first night and then do the more adventurous stuff starting tomorrow?” she suggested.
She turned to watch Ben, making sure he didn’t land on his face again once he had the bags. She shut the car and locked it up before sticking the keys in her pocket and leading the way back into the resort. She was hit by a blast of warmth as she entered and she turned to look at Ben as she headed for the elevators.
”Good. You shouldn’t be. They’re weird anyway,” she said, shaking her head. ”Cassidy said she’s gonna beat you up if you hurt me, but besides that she’s chill. And Ashton is going to act tough because you know that’s how brothers are, but ask him about his daughter some time. That’ll show you just how soft he actually is. And Harrison... he just wants to fly a plane.” She gave him a quick rundown of her siblings as she entered the elevator.
She hit the button for the third floor and rode up without saying much. It wasn’t until the elevator dinged and let them out that she turned to Ben. ”Ready to see them?” He’d seen and talked to her siblings before, but he hadn’t seen them for an even longer period of time that he hadn’t seen her.

Cassidy Brynn Doyle ”I want to live, not just live”
Cassidy found herself smirking slightly when Talia left to go get more of their bags. ”Bet we won’t get our stuff for at least an hour. She’s just gonna sneak off with Ben and make up for the time they didn’t have together,” she teased.
Ashton made a face at the image of his sweet and innocent sister actually dating a real boy. Harrison, however, crossed his arms. ”$5,” he agreed. ”Look, Talia is excited to see him, but she’s not an idiot either. She isn’t going to forget what she’s supposed to be doing.”He checked the time on his phone, writing it down on the pad of paper provided on the desk.
”Now, I’m gonna go get myself some hot chocolate and be back in an hour to collect my winnings,” she said, throwing a charming smile in Harrison’s direction. He shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair as he watched Cassidy go.
As she rode the elevators down to the first floor, she looked out the lobby doors to see Talia and Ben hugging. Good. Now, hopefully that would just last long enough for Talia to forget what she was supposed to be doing so Cass could be $5 richer. As she turned, she saw another girl and smiled. ”Do you need help with your bags? I was just going to get some hot chocolate if you wanted to come with?” she asked, mainly wanting to look like she was in a conversation in case Talia turned and saw her and thought she was spying.
She’s surely get a lecture from her sister then. Something about how Talia was an adult and should be able to greet her boyfriend in peace. It was stupid, honestly.

Winnie
Winnie glanced up from pulling her suit case, a little startled by the offer. She smiled, shaking her head slightly. "Nah, I think I can handle a backpack and a rolling suitcase. But I might take you up on the hot chocolate offer. Have you seen where the hot chocolate bar is? I heard it was great," she responded, readjusting her bag on her shoulder as if to show she was fine. Truth be told, she would probably be able to find they hot chocolate station on her own, but she'd just been handed the chance to at least have someone to talk to on this trip on a silver platter, and she wasn't about to throw it away. Even if the taxi ride had been long, and a freshly made bed was calling her name. "I'm Winnie, by the way," she added, letting go of her suitcase for a moment to offer her hand for a handshake. It was maybe a little formal, but she'd always been like that, a little bit weird. She was confident enough in it though, so she normally pulled it off okay.

Benjamin "Ben" O'Malley it is often that a person's mouth broke his nose Ben was always happy to be around Talia, but there was something to say about being around someone who got your humor. Amelia certainly didn't care for his puns, as stupid as that was. His twin just didn't get comedy. Talia did. Part of the reason he loved her so much. Not that he was going to tell her that. No, that was much too emotional for the first hour of the trip. They could get super emotional later, when they were leaving and wouldn't see each other again for awhile. He would tell her all the reasons he loved spending time with her. Her perfect reactions to his perfect jokes being in the top ten of that list.
"Talia, literally nothing compares to you in my arms. Or me in your arms, you're a very good pillow." He was totally going to hug her again once the bags were dealt with. He couldn't really grab her hand or anything while carrying everyone's things, but once she was done with being a better sibling than he was, it was on.
She'd end up getting annoyed with him once the trip was over. He was planning on touching some part of her at least twelve times a day, for a minimum of five minutes. Hence, why the hug wasn't long enough. In fact, he felt kind of gypped with that hug. He had promised her an eight minute hug. Or, well, he probably hadn't told her his plan in fear of it being rejected. It was still a plan, though! He had every intention of following through.
"I vote for inside activities, always." Ben reminded her, because he could feel the cold seeping into his bones as every second passed by. Why had everyone agreed on Alaksa, again? It was totally awful. "I might explode the kitchen, did you see that video of Lia and I from like three months ago? I ruined pasta. How does one end up burning noodles? I still haven't figured it out, T. It's been three months and I still haven't figured out where I went wrong."
"Not to say I don't want to do all those things, though. I bet you could beat me on the slopes. I might be good on pavement but there's no telling how awful I'll be on a snowboard." Whatever the plan was, he'd be fine with it as long as they were together. Outside activities would need a coat, though. Oh, there's something they could do together! "Do you want to go shopping later? I think I'll need some better winter gear. I didn't pack well enough for this." In fact, he hadn't been the one to pack at all. No, he had made his sister pack his bag, which meant he probably didn't have any winter gear at all. The only thing he knew he had was the clothes on his back and a winter puffer jacket in his carry on.
Ben nodded along as she spoke, listening to what she wanted for the night. He was excited about the hot chocolate though, and got a little distracted but focused back in somewhere around having a chill night. "Room service for tonight, then? I bet they have chili. Hot chocolate is weirdly good with chili, just trust me." She could hate his suggestion all she wanted, but he was still gonna order the chili. Warm foods and hot liquids, wow, tonight sounded so nice. Cuddles and warmth, absolutely perfect idea.
Ben almost sprinted for the lobby once the car was locked. He didn't, but he wanted to. He was so very cold. Inside was right there, after all. All he had to do was get inside without falling again. Thankfully, do to his lack of running, he made it into the nice lobby where he wasn't freezing his nips off. He followed Talia to the elevators, relaxed once again.
And then she mentioned her siblings wanting to violently harm him and he tensed up. He had just gotten to see Talia again, he didn't want to die! He already fell, he didn't need to get beaten up too. Cassidy could take him if she wanted to, without a doubt. She looked feisty enough for it, and Ben wouldn't hit a girl. It just didn't feel right.
It's not like he was going to hit Ashton, either, but. There was something different about violence against a girl. He'd hit a guy that pissed him off, not a girl though. To be fair, he never had reason to want to. Amelia always ended up getting into girl fights. "Good thing I'm not planning on hurting you, then." He tried to sound as causal as possible. No cause for fear, here. He was fine. Everything would be fine.
Once the doors dinged that they were on the right floor, he squeaked out, "Can I just talk to Harrison?" Okay, sue him. He didn't want to get beat up by Ashton. He had seen Cassidy in the lobby before going up to the elevator, so that was fine but. Ashton was a brother. He knew things. He had a daughter. He could assume things. Oh, no, this was going to be bad.

Cassidy Brynn Doyle ”I want to live, not just live”
Cassidy was slightly distracted from the conversation when she saw Ben and Talia dragging the rest of the luggage into the resort. Great. Harrison wasn’t going to let her get away without paying him. She was tempted to go after them and further distract her sister, but she’d already started a conversation with another girl and Cassidy wasn’t a jerk. No, she was going to stay and finish this interaction, even if it meant losing some money to her overly supportive brother.
”Cassidy,” she said, shaking the other girl’s hand. She pointed down one of the halls. ”I think it’s set up in there. My sister is excited for it, so I know she had looked it up and told us all where it was located,” she said. Of course, did Talia ever actually plan on hot chocolate with her siblings or just Ben? She wasn’t bitter. No, she was happy to see Talia having a good time, but Ben made her lose $5.
She did, however, shake her head. She was going to focus on this new girl - Winnie - instead of her siblings for once in her life. Sure, they drove her crazy, but that’s what siblings were supposed to do. They were 21 now and had to start living their own lives instead of relying on each other and that’s what Cassidy was going to do. She was going to get her chocolate with this new girl.

Talia Fae Doyle ”Quiet people have the loudest minds”
Talia had never really been good at being funny. She tried, and maybe that was part of the problem. It seemed that everyone that was actually funny didn’t put any actual effort into it and she put way too much effort into it. Had Ben even considered his words? Or had he just stood up and let the pun fall thoughtlessly from his mouth? She never knew with that boy.
Being funny was truly an art, and it was one that Talia hoped to master one day. Unfortunately, that day wasn’t really anywhere near today. She was about as funny as a dirty sock. Yeah, a dirty sock was a good comparison. She could be used to make people laugh - whether on purpose or accidental - but she was mostly useless, especially when it came to humor.
She turned to Ben again, smiling at his words. ”Oh, trust me, you make a really good pillow too,” she promised him. Ben was actually her favorite pillow. Unfortunately, he had more important things to do than laying around in her bed all night. He had his own life to live, which was the reason they were doing this stupid long distance thing in the first place. If she didn’t want to give up her dreams to go along with him, she couldn’t expect him to give up his dreams and spend his days in a college town working some job he’d probably hate.
”Awwww, it’s not that cold, Ben,” she said, nudging him. It actually was pretty cold, so she’d understand if he preferred to stay inside. Maybe they could run out and buy some board games and lock themselves in a room to enjoy the peace and warmth. ”Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you don’t burn anything this time,” she said, smiling in amusement. She had seen the video. She never missed a video that the twins posted. ”In fact, maybe we could make some pasta and I’ll make sure you do it correctly.” She didn’t want him to have some weird lifelong fear of cooking pasta because of one video where he’d failed at it.
”I’m certainly not a profesional at snowboarding,” she assured him. The snow and ice was Ashton’s territory. He was mainly a skater and had grown up playing hockey, but had also gotten into snowboarding and skiing around the age of 12. Maybe she could offer Ben some lessons from Ash later... Even if it was just teasing because she’d never force her boyfriend to spend hours alone with her brother. ”Oooh! Shopping would be fun!” Talia wasn’t exactly the most fashionable, but she would still have fun picking out some winter clothes with him.
”I’m all for room service. Think you’ll have an empty room for us to crash in? And Chili with hot chocolate...? I’m not too sure about that. I might play it safe and get chicken tenders or something.... and might steal a bite of your chili to try it,” she said. The night sounded perfect... if he could get them his room. He had one sibling and she had three. Even if they had to share the room with Amelia, it would probably be easier than sharing it with Ashton, Harrison, and Cassidy.
”Good job not falling again, by the way,” Talia said when they made it to the safety of the lobby. She looked over him again in the better light, noticing a few scratches from his fall, but nothing major. He would be okay. ”And you’re in the warmth. The night has to be getting at least a little better, right?” she asked.
”I didn’t think you were planning on hurting me and I was sure to tell Cassidy that,” she agreed. She looked over when Ben asked about talking to Harrison. ”I won’t let Ash bother you too much,” she promised, reaching over to brush his arm with the back of her hand. It was the most she could do with both hands full, but it was meant to be encouraging.
She made her way to the first door on the left and knocked with her elbow until it opened up to reveal Harrison on the other side.
”Benjamin! Welcome!” Harrison said. He stepped back and pulled the two in. ”The bags can just go on the couch,” he said, nodding to where the couch was already stacked with the bags that the quads had brought in from Ashton’s car. He flopped down onto the couch. ”So what brings you up here?”
”What do you think?” Talia asked, knowing the question was meant more for Ben than her.
”I wasn’t asking you, Princess,” Harrison said, his voice raising in pitch to sound like her. Despite the mocking, the playful smile never left his face.
Hearing voices, Ashton emerged from one of the rooms. ”Ben,” he greeted with a simple nod. He leaned against the wall, his hands buried deep in his pockets as he eyed his sister’s boyfriend.
