AshLightning(Alright) Algoria was in the hollow she and her mate shared. It was the biggest one in the tree, spacious. Plenty of room for their nests, belongings and other things. And perhaps a few... tinier nests, if they ever needed any. Right then, she was sitting at the area in their hollow where she handled paperwork, writing a letter back to the monastery of the Glauxian Brotherhood. They were seeing hagsfiends poking around the north, and it bothered them greatly because they never usually did. Owls and puffins were going missing too. Sighing, she briefly set her quill down when she heard the teapot whistling as it hung over the fire, which was safely burning in an semi-enclosure of stone. Ah, the milkberry tea was done. Going to grab some wooden cups and handle the teapot, she spoke "Scrandarg, come here. The tea is ready."

Scrandarg had been just outside their home, watching as the members of the Tree flew around, busily doing their work. He was proud of the Tree’s current state, and proud of the owls that lived and worked there. Hearing his mate call for him, Scrandarg turned around and hopped towards her happily, hooting softly with happiness. Once he came in he came a bit closer to her and watched her work with the tea and cups inside their fire-warmed den. “Mmm it smells wonderful, Algoria.” He cooed to her, settling down where they normally shared tea together.

AshLightningAlgoria smiled slightly as she poured them both some of the milkberry tea. "Thank you, dear. I just feel like some tea will be good, something to help relax with everything going on." She moved to join Scrandarg, handing him one cup before going back to get the other. When she finally settled beside her mate, she took a sip of the hot tea after blowing on it. "We'll need to select the owls to go out on that search soon. Owls are getting restless about what they're hearing is going on across the sea. They want us to do something about the Black Talon soon." But it was never wise to rush blindly into things. Time was needed.

“Thank you.” He said as he received his cup, holding it gently in his talons. He blew on his tea while waiting for Algoria to rejoin him. When she came back he nosed her neck briefly to show his love before letting her drink her tea in peace. He’d learned early on that constant physical attraction was smothering and that small gestures were often all that was needed. As he listened to her explanation about the situation, Scrandarg nodded and let out a sigh. “I know, Algoria. We need to find some Guardians to go. I can see how antsy the Tree is getting too. Like you said, we should decide soon.” He said, dipping in his tea. “And the Black Talon too, you’re right. Do you have any ideas for either of those?” He asked as he lifted his cup to sip some more tea.

AshLightningAlgoria could only shrug her shoulders as Scrandarg spoke. "I'm not too sure. All I really see fit in doing is sending some to do some spying. Continue keeping an eye on them when we can." She took another sip of her tea. "Our only hope is a story though. For all we know, the Swords are fake, or destroyed." She glanced over to where her unfinished letter was set up, and she sighed. "Either way, the Guardians must be ready. We eikk eventually need to take up arms." Parliament made sure she and her mate knew that, hounding them to attack the enemy, but Algoria would not have it.

Scrandarg nodded in agreement to everything his mate was saying. “I know, Algoria. Don’t fret too much. We can keep surveying the enemy, get to know their patterns and weaknesses, and find out how we can attack. As for the Swords, I think we need to take the chance. If we don’t, the enemy will. And we can’t risk the power of then Seords falling into the talons of others.” He mumbled, starting to finish his tea.

AshLightningAlgoria hummed. "If the Swords are real, we won't need to worry about them being turned on us. They're just "regular" swords without the blessing of the Sacred Tears, and if they are blessed it is said no evil entity may lay a talon upon them." She still remembered the story her father would tell her. How the Swords were wielded by worthy owls against the darkness of Hagsmire. How just a single swish could make the air toxic to malevolent beings. "It is a matter of just finding them really, though once this news reaches the enemy's ears, we will see much more hostility, and the search party will be hunted." She leaned against Scrandarg a little. "I just want to run those demons through with anything and be done with it, but nothing is ever that easy. At least you're here to keep me from pulling my feathers out from the stress."

Scrandarg listened to his mate’s story and nodded slowly. “Then, if we do send out a search party, we should send some of our better fighters...” he mumbled. He then felt his mate lean into him and he cooed to her softly. He nosed her head and feathers lightly to calm her. “Of course, my love. I’ll always be here for you. Just as long as you’re always here for me. I’d look like a bald buzzard by now if it wasn’t for you.” He cooed.

AshLightningAlgoria laughed softly. "You would look handsome even with some missing feathers." As she looked out at the entrance of the hollow, watching what she could of others flying by. "I sometimes wish I could get a look at what's been going on, but it's not our place to be leaving anymore. Not unless it's to battle." All they could do was fly around the island for their free time if they wanted. They couldn't go to the north or south, as they were much more needed back home to manage the Tree. "Though sometimes I'm not sure if I actually want to see any of the chaos." It was likely that others were dying right that moment because the Guardians were not fighting, but the best way to win was to kill the leader. Can't do that without the proper weapon. "I don't know what's happened to the idea of peace these days."

"No missions yet but won't be long before I'm given one." Kane said ruffling his feathers. He couldn't help but be excited. He was a fighter and missed being able to battle against a worthy opponent.

Scrandarg nodded slowly as he listened to his mate talk. It was true, even Scrandarg himself wanted to go out and see what was happening on the frontlines and all. It was also true that the peace everyone in the Tree once has was now shattered. He carefully preened a bit of dirt from his mate’s feathers as he spoke once she had finished. “The enemies we now face have shattered our tranquility. And we won’t have any until we conquer those who seek to destroy us.” He whispered to her as they snuggled. “I too wish we could go see what is happening out there, but like you said it’s not our place to go out and about.” He said softly.

Hawkeyes258Tirel hummed. "I wish I could know what a good battle feels like. My pa trained me with ice swords cause he was a smith at Dark Fowl, yet I've never actually seen battle." AshLightningAlgoria could only nod as Scrandarg spoke. "We will have our time soon, love. We might need to do some venturing out soon anyway. The Glauxian Brothers are stressed, judging by their letters, and we might need to actually go out there, though I think they just want to discuss the Swords. Even if they haven't told us, they don't want them used." They were so convinced that action needed to be taken against hagsfiends, but not violence. Algoria wouldn't be surprised if those monks tried to discuss another means of stopping the war. "I think it'll be best to go anyway, to put such foolishness to rest."

Scrandarg nuzzled his mate as he listened to her speak. He knew she was right, and that they needed to take action. It was also true about the Monks. He too knew the owls there would try to convince them not to use violence, but sometimes it was necessary, like now. “We should go talk to them, love. Like you said, we need to make sure they know what we feel we need to do.” He replied, cooing to her softly.

AshLightningAlgoria cooed softly as Scrandarg reassured her. "We'll see about discussing it tomorrow. Parliament is supposed to meet tonight already about the search. No need to get them annoyed with the chance of the idea being stepped on." After a minute or two of silence, she suggested "How about we go for a hunt? We never really get the time." They got their exercise through training and flying around the Tree, but being so busy they never really got the time to just go and hunt like any other owl. "Sure, we can just have food brought up here, but sometimes I still like going and catching my own."

"You might see battle eventually." Kane said with a ruffle of his feathers. "If things gets just as bad, the whole tree might just get involved."

Hawkeyes258Tirel nodded his head. "The Tree has gotten through many things, many wars." Before any of them were born, but still. A talon tapped a soft rhythm against the book he had with him as he continued "And just like before, we will prevail. We must."

As they sat in silence, Scrandarg pressed close to his mate and Queen and nuzzled her to comfort her and show he was there for her. Upon the mention of food, he looked at Algoria and nodded. “That’s a wonderful idea, love. Let’s do that.” He cooed, hopping backwards and letting her lead the way out.

"This is why I'm trying to push my students so hard." Kane explained as he looked out at the horizon. "They are going to meet some nasty owls and I want them to be prepared to put up a fight."

AshLightningAlgoria nodded before moving to leave, after putting out the fire in their fireplace. Walking over to the entrance, she looked out across the night sky, and around at the others going about their day. After another moment, she spread her wings and took off into the sky. Circling back, she passed by Scrandarg before heading out toward the freedom of the actual island. Hawkeyes258Tirel nodded slowly. "The Tree is ready for anything. It is our duty to meet evil with the fury of our training and strike them down." If they didn't, then owlkind would have fallen long ago. "Maybe I'll see if my swordsmanship is still there, but I've only ever used Ice Swords. Much different, surprisingly."

Scrandarg hopped to the exit of their home, watching as his mate took off, circled around, then shot by the entrance. He hooted happily as he watched her, hopping out of their den and taking off behind his beloved mate. He soon caught up and flew even to her, glancing over at her as they flew. “This’ll be nice.” He cooed.

AshLightningAlgoria nodded in agreement. "A nice little stretch to take a break from all the business of the Tree." If only they could go out more, but such things were not to be considered. As she thought it over, she glided along the soft winds, heading out to the forestry around the gigantic Tree. "Rabbits haven't been seen too much lately... bet I can catch one before you!" And with that, she took off, shooting to try and find the dark-furred creatures. They were rare on the island, and smart. Should be fun to try and catch. Hawkeyes258Tirel blinked once. "Would you really? That'd be great. I could use the refresher." It would be much easier to exchange blows with Kane due to having had training already.

Kane nodded his head. "Everyone needs to be ready. I may offer my training to others just so that they can be ready." He wasn't sure how many would actually want to train with swords.

Tirel nodded. "Then let us take up a sword then." He looked ready to fly. "Let me go and put my book away, then we can go see about getting to work." He then took flight, taking to the skies to fly up to his hollow. Then, he would go to meet Kane in the training area.
