Sable Arnold woke up before the sun rose every morning, and would walk the streets of the city, letting her fingers graze the bountiful array of plants that filled the city, waking them up so they were in full bloom by the time the sun's rays peaked through the tall sky scrapers of Los Angeles. She considered this routine necessary because, especially at the moment, as they were going through a drought, and without her help, most of the plants would have wilted and died by now. Luckily, she knew that the weather controllers were due to bring rain tonight, but still, she loved her plants dearly, and couldn't bear to see them at anything other than their best.
This process took several hours, and by the time she was done every day, the rest of the city was bustling about, as everyone had somewhere to be, and most people were in a hurry to get there. Sable, however, liked to take her time. She lived her life striving to notice the little things, and perform small kindnesses for people that she prayed would make their day. After a long but fulfilling morning of growing, replenishing, and handing out fresh flowers to the children she passed on the street, Sable wandered past a bookstore, and almost kept going, but she noticed a potted plant in the window that could use some serious love, so she gently pushed the door open and entered the store.
Solely focused on helping the wilted little plant on the check out counter, Sable completely, though not purposefully, ignored all others in the store, and simply went to work, touching each leaf on the plant as she slowly infused life back into it.

Titus started to lift the bar up and down lifting the heavy weights pretty easily. "Reasons, I'm not allowed to say." He was ordered to keep a close eye on his fellow Specials and to guard them as much as possible. The public wasn't suppose to know the severity of the situation.

Rylan gave a sigh as he finally finished restocking the shelves on the one section of the bookstore, he felt like he had been there for hours putting books back onto shelves. He push a small cart full of books around the next aisle and noticed someone with pastel pink hair standing at the front of the bookstore, her fingers gently touching the leaves of the plant the bookstore owner hardly ever paid attention to. Rylan had attempted to keep the thing alive, but for some reason he just wasn't doing something right. Every time he tried something new, the plant would have a different reaction. Slowly, as the plant started to revive with the help of this person, Rylan's fascination grew until he couldn't contain himself any longer. Carefully, he walked over to the Sable, hoping not to scare her from his sudden appearance. "Umm... hi," Rylan said with a smile. "How did you do that?"

Kassie caught Electra's heart hands, but couldn't respond quick enough before they had started the cooling process. As she felt the temperature drop, the coldness filled her with a new energy, but that didn't solve the fact that they were on top of the highest building in the city with a howling wind ready to knock the both of them off. Kassie pointed to the elevator knowing there was no point in shouting at Electra. Carefully and quite quickly, she made her way over to the elevator and pressed the button. The door opened and Kassie put her hand up against the doors to hold it for Electra. Once the rain had begun to pour successfully, Electra smiled at the sky and let the rain wet her skin before finally following Kassie to the elevator. “Wasn’t that exhilarating?” She asked excitedly, despite soaking wet from head to toe. As a true adrenaline junkie, Electra got a rush like no other when she was able to use her powers, and she had no doubt the same went for her friend.

Sable looked up in surprise at the sudden appearance of a guy who looked about her age, maybe slightly younger. “Oh! Uh, hi,” she said, blushing slightly as she looked down at her fingers that were still on the plant. “Sorry. I just noticed your plant was dying. I should have asked first before I just walked in and started messing with it,” she said softly, embarrassed like she had been caught red handed. “I was just giving it a little life. I’m a controller,” she explained, finally raising her eyes to meet his gaze. “I work with the cities plants and gardens, and basically just enhance nature’s beauty.”

UGH! I'm taking a break from changing this picture! Gosh I don't know what's wrong with this RP profile! I wanted to change Rylan's photo because the more I looked at it, it just didn't fit in my opinion. Now I can't get the new URL to work! UGH)
Kassie didn't say a word as Electra entered the elevator and the doors slowly closed behind her. Looking down at her feet, Kassie held up her middle finger at Electra, but then again it wasn't like they didn't ever do this to each other before. Giving out a sigh, she rose her and felt the elevator descend slowly. "Define exhilarating..." Kassie muttered. Finally, she turned toward Electra and her lips pursed as she glared at her best friend. "Do I like the feeling as the coldness fills me up? Yes, but you know damn well that we should not have been up there in 'those' winds without proper boots."
Although Kassie hadn't accepted the job of controller, that did not mean she didn't understand the safety precautions explained to her during her time at the Academy. She learned early on that her powers would likely mean working as a controller, but once she seen where they worked, she pleaded with the city to not be assigned the job unless absolutely necessary.

(Aww that’s the worst when they don’t work! I’m sorry!)
Electra returned the finger lovingly, before pushing her wet hair back from her face. “Oh come on, Kas. You know I wouldn’t let the winds sweep you away.” Electra had some control over winds, but it wasn’t something she really focused on, as opposed to more of a side effect of her main power. “But hey, now you’re done and probably won’t have to come in for another week or two. Maybe longer if the weather behaves,” she said sarcastically.

Wait! I might have figured it out! ................. Never mind -.-)
Inside of him, Rylan frowned as he did the exact opposite of what he meant to do! His eyes widen as he realized that she was a special as the bookstore hadn't received too many special customers. He also give off a little blush in his face and rubbed the back of his neck. "Don't worry about apologizing, I'm just grateful that you helped the little thing. I tried so hard to keep it healthy, but I guess I wasn't really to sure what to do with it," Rylan said with a smile, his eyes also meeting hers. A soft blue, eyes that were even different from his bright blue eyes.
"Uhh.. Wow, you make sure beauty is instilled in the city, while I work inside a small bookshop," he said with a small laugh. "I'm Rylan, what's your name?"

I got it! LUL Yeah Idk I just didn't like the picture, so I figured I'd go with something I think would represent him more)
Kassie shook her head in annoyance, still taking deep breaths to try and calm her fast-beating heart. Sometimes she couldn't stand Electra, but that's why they loved it each other. Electra drove her crazy, but Kassie did the same in other aspects. "You're lucky, I don't give you a cold for that comment, Sparky," she said with a smirk. If there was one name that Kassie constantly used to get under Electra's skin, it was Sparky. She never fully understood why she got so angry when people called her it, but Kassie seemed to be the only one that could get away with calling her it.

Sable let out a small laugh, before moving the plant a few inches to the left. “Well, you had the plant in direct sunlight, which, typically is what people expect plants need. But this particular plant grows best in shade, with only a few hours worth of sunlight per day. It was just getting too much sun and not enough water,” she explained, much more in her element now that she was back to talking about plants. “Which I suppose is the problem with the whole city at the moment. With the drought and all.” When she finished, and he compared their two jobs, the pink headed girl gave him a soft smile. “I suppose so. I’m Sable.”

"Oh, that was my next step," Rylan said with a chuckle. Truly, he had no clue what to do with the plant, but he was glad to know what to do with it now and planned to take care of it especially after Sable's revival process on the small thing. He nodded when she talked about the drought the city was facing. "Yeah, though I heard that they were going to have our weather controllers fix that tonight." Just as he finished his sentence, a small bit of rain started to come down in their part of town, which made him smile a little bit. Rylan wasn't usually one for the heat, he was more of a winter child, always loving the cold.
"I promise I'm not psychic, I just heard it from the news," Rylan said giving off a little more laughter now. "So, how do you help the city? I know you said you help make it beautiful, but what else comes with that job?"

Shade Comet ~ * ~ * ~ Shade and Echo were silent after Rora's outburst. Echo, still ticked off and now also appearing rather sullen, sat back down and crossed his arms over his chest. Shade's expression and mood were harder to read, though his gaze was steady when he looked at Rora. “I'm sorry,” he told her, and meant it, “for making your life difficult. But I'm not sorry for ‘encroaching’ on people's minds, because I don't. Hearing thoughts is no different than overhearing spoken conversations around me. I can, and do, tune it out so, most of the time, I don't hear or see anything I'm not supposed to. It doesn't always work, because some people think louder than others, but I don't go around abusing my power like that. So, I'll ask you to please stop judging me based on my power.
“As for Echo,” he continued, then paused. He looked at his friend. “Oh, my apologizes. Would you like to speak for yourself here since you're not an animal?”
Echo sneered. “I'm always an animal,” he replied pointedly. Then he waved Shade on.
“Echo,” Shade said, “is always calm. I am not joking. Very, very little riles him, so I suggest you pay attention when he loses his temper, because there is always a very good reason.” He paused again. “Except where I'm concerned, apparently. Don't you think that was a bit much?” he asked his friend.
“No,” Echo replied moodily. He sat forward and placed one hand on the table. “You want to know where I grew up?” he asked, gaze intent on the mayor. “I grew up in a household very much like this one. You think you have power, money, influence? Where I come from, I have this three times over. I chose to leave it, but that does not mean you get to look down on me and treat me or mine like trash. That is a requirement if you want me guarding this household. Which I will, and I will put everything I have into it. But I am your equal, not just your hired help. Surely that isn't too much to ask.”

Titus narrowed his eyes and places the bar on it's holder before sitting up. "Trust me, it's for your benefit. Without us this city would fall into chaos." This was what he had been told at least. Specials were the reason for everything and without their powers things would be horrible!

Zach frowned slightly, lifting his gaze back up. The entirety of the plan seemed heavily dependent on a variety of unknown factors. How would a brainwashed individual be able to gather intel? What is actually happening to these kidnapped individuals? Most of all, though, what if the recovery team was compromised? No doubt it would gravely endanger the kidnapped person.
Thoughts of uncertainty and hesitancy filled his mind, making it hard to focus on the actual task at hand. They would need to recruit a number of Specials who were willing to participate in such a mission.
"I'm not one to mingle with Specials all that much," Zacharias said, finalizing his impotence. The statement was completely true, albeit he was hiding the fact that he himself was a Special. He recoiled internally, hating how the word Special felt in his own mouth. It was an awful descriptor - it's only purpose being to divide the current society more than it already was.

Leon frowned at Ramsey, her idea of the plan was that it wasn’t smart, but she couldn’t change it. Part of her felt that going in alone would be better at this point, and she presumed she was the only Special in the room. Her gaze flickered to Zacharias, nodding at his words. This whole mission seemed off in her opinion.
”I guess that could work,” she glanced at Ramsey, and then Judah, back to Ramsey again, ”But isn’t that rather risky?” she then questioned. She wasn’t one to hide her opinions easily, but she kept herself respectful in her questions. She shook her head at knowing any Specials though, she did know some from the Academy, but she hadn’t seen them in forever.
Though Zach surprised her with his blunt words earlier, she reflected on them. She wondered if he had any issues with Specials now, or if he really missed his sister he mentioned. Regardless, she did feel bad for him, this whole subject must have been hard to talk about.

As the elevator doors opened, Electra walked out to the floor where their boss awaited, paychecks in hand. She (I think I said the boss was a girl? I can’t remember lol) smirked at their wet appearance, and held up the checks. “Want me to wait to give these to you until you’re dry?” She asked. Electra grabbed her messenger bag and held it open, “Nah. Just stick it in there for me.” Once she had her payment, and had gathered the rest of her things, she turned to Kassie. “You wanna walk out together?”

She was much more laid back than her the other controllers, and tended to do her duties during the day, whereas most of the others performed theirs at night, so she didn’t interact much with them. “Yes, they are. I know we could all use a little break from this heat,” she told him, before pausing after hearing his question. “How do I help?” She repeated, struggling to find the right words. “Well, um. I help the farmers outside the city and make sure their crops yield the best harvests, and I teach gardening classes to children. And just generally take care of the greenery around the city.” Her job wasn’t as glamourous as some of the other controllers, but to her, there was nothing more important.

The mayor listened and waited for the two to be done, before chuckling, as though nothing had happened. “Son, at what point have I treated you like trash? I’m paying you a handsome salary, have invited you and your friend to a hearty dinner, and am housing you in luxurious quarters where you will want for nothing. I could care less where you came from. Hell, I was born and raised in the gutters of this city, and only made it out when I got tested and sent to the academy. So don’t you dare think I don’t know what it’s like to go through struggle,” this comment was pointed at Shade, whom he could tell did not share the same wealthy background as Echo. “All I wanted was for you to open up. And now you have, and we are finally getting somewhere.” Clapping his hands to signal to the servants to bring the next meal, the mayor continued, “As for you, my darling, don’t you worry. We are all going to get along just fine. After all, we are all family in this house, are we not?”
Rora didn’t look up as she listened to her father speak. Family? Ugh. At the moment, she wanted nothing to do with anyone in this room.

LOL I'm not sure, let's just assume the boss was a girl!)
Similar to what Electra was thinking Kassie opened her small backpack and tucked her paycheck into the bottom of the bag, careful to hardly touch the paper. She nodded to Electra about her chance to walk out together. Why wouldn't we? she thought. She followed Electra to the main elevator of the building, waiting for it to take them to the lobby together. Kassie waited to speak until they were both descending in the elevator. "Too bad one of us isn't a pyromancer, then we could easily dry faster," Kassie joked.

Sable's smile was something of a different universe for Rylan, like a small fire had been lit inside of his chest. He tried not to seem completely lost in the conversation, but his senses felt dulled from her smile. "That sounds fun, I mean I guess none of us would be here without your help to grow food," Rylan said. In his head, he face-palmed quite hard as he realized it wasn't the best compliment he probably should have used. What in the hell am I doing? It's like I've lost the ability to speak properly! Briskly, he smiled at Sable and tried to think of a way to continue talking to her. "Would it be dumb if someone other than children attended these gardening skills?" he asked with a big smile. He hadn't really been much of an outdoor person, so he knew virtually nothing but the literal basics. Even reading books about gardening, didn't help Rylan to improve.

Don't worry, I can get like that.. I will do a single sitting of reading a book. I've finished one of the Legend series books in 4 hours. I don't pay attention to what's going on, sort of like I'm toning everything out. Can be helpful in staying focused, but bad if something bad happens like a fire or something.)

She wasn’t used to receiving compliments and really had no clue how to respond when she was given them. Her heart had begun to pound a little faster as she looked around, before Rylan’s next question brought her gaze back to the tall bookstore clerk. “You want to attend my classes?” She asked quizzically, analightly confused look on her face. “Well I suppose...I mean I don’t see anything wrong with that. As long as you don’t mind being surrounded by small children who throw dirt all day,” the pink haired woman added with a giggle.

Kassie shook her head smiling at Electra. "No that's would be your type of guy! Do you not remember the conversation we had earlier? Fire and Ice don't mix very well!" Kassie exclaimed, but she was laughing the entire time. As they got down to the first floor, she followed Electra out of the elevator and over to the entrance doors, but paused at Electra's question, surprise filling her face. "Wait, you rode your motorcycle here didn't you? Did you really not think this through?" Kassie asked pointing up at the sky as rain dropped drenched everything in sight.

Rylan laughed along with her, but he did notice the different shade of color appearing in her cheeks. She's blushing! Well maybe I said something right! In his head, he celebrated a small victory, but her offer to come into her classes stunned him. He didn't really think she would say yes, but not because of the thought of dealing with children. In return, his cheeks also flushed a light red and he smiled down at her. "Actually, I wouldn't mind the children at all. I may even know some of them since I volunteer to read books with a few of them. I have this odd ability that has kids like and trust me from the start, I really can't explain it!" Rylan replied, rubbing the back of his head.
