Cecily Abernathy “Alea iacta est...”
☼☼ ☼ ☼☼
Cecily fingered the page of her book, loving the feel of the paper. There was something about physically turning the page, cracking upon the paperback to that unique smell. The young woman looked down at the page she was on and smiled slightly, "I guess that makes sense. You have to keep yourself occupied somehow. My book is Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. She's one of my favorite authors." Placing the book mark in her paperback, she once again pushed her glasses up her nose and sat a little straighter in her chair, "It's a wonderful book. I would recommend it to you if you like an older style. Austen can be a little hard to understand sometimes, but she has a wonderful sense of humor."
She was just about to politely ask the girl what book she had in her hands when the host of their trip stood up. Dissecting him with her eyes, Cecily promptly stopped talking and listened to what he had to say. A trip of a lifetime, huh? It better be since I turned that internship down. I could have been researching cancer all summer. This better be worth it.
And just like that the man with botox in his face (she could tell because he could barely smile without looking like a Ken doll) stood up and introduced their pilot. Cecily followed the instructions, buckling herself up and slipping her right earphone in. Not before the loud voice of another student echoed through the cabin. Curious as who the melodic voice belonged, she strained out of her seat and caught the sight of a messy head and strong jawline. There was a guitar case on his back. Interesting. She had always been fond of acoustic. Still, her lips pulled back slightly at his tardiness. The plane had almost left him behind.
And then the shutter of a camera and another masculine voice caught her attention. She peaked over the chair, glasses slidding down once more. Expert eyes made quick work of him and his raven hair. Most of the men here seemed... nice. Where was Ally and her expert flirting when you needed her? Cecily hummed as she pressed back down into her seat, thinking about the group of people they had in the cabin, "I didn't realize there would be so many people here."
I sure hope I'm not expected to mingle with all of them.

As the pilot went through her safety speech, Miller made sure to carefully follow all of her instructions, not wanting to take any chances. But when the boy who sat in front of them turned around to ask his question, Miller grinned, glad for the distraction from their impending flight. "Yes, I did. Magic, here, is teaching me how to take good photographs. And I'm doing quite well, if I do say so myself," she joked, before checking out the photo she had just taken. It was blurry, and out of focus, and left much to be desired. But as she held it out for both boys to see, Miller couldn't help but giggle. "Well...I suppose it could be considered aesthetic? Perhaps a commentary on the fast paced modern life?" She suggested sarcastically.

Miller laughed at Aiden's joke, as she found it quite relatable. She could not count the times she had had to make some random bs up about the deeper story behind a piece she had simply just wanted to make. "How very modern and abstract of you. This, this is the kind of philosophical statement piece we need to see more of," she replied, mirroring his mocking tone, before returning introductions. "I'm Miller. And zoology? That's such a unique major! I've never actually met anyone majoring in that before," She told him. As far as she knew, her school didn't even have a Zoology major. "I'm an Art Therapy major, minoring in Psychology," Miller added, thankful to have found some other creative people like her.

“Hey, that’s fine by me,” she replied to his sailboat comment “I’m not here to tell you how to be a rich person and do rich-people stuff. If I’m on the boat, I’m happy.”
When their host for the trip started to talk, she leaned over to Reuben - while still taking in what he was saying of course.
“That’s a lot of Botox,” she murmured quietly “Good Lord, it’s like a ventriloquist’s dummy gained sentience.”
And then the pilot went over all of the safety stuff, which Perri paid attention to. She’d heard all of these rules before but it was always good to listen again just so she hadn’t forgotten anything. Though she still didn’t take anything too seriously, because nothing was going to happen. Right?

Well, I missed a lot of replies. Here's catching up with what's already happened...
Felice Marie BrendelLocation: on plane | Status: excited | With: Cecily"Ah, Jane Austen," Felice echoed. She had heard of her, that lady who wrote Pride and Prejudice. Much of Austen's humor was lost on her. Granted, it was Felice's mother who had forced her to read Pride and Prejudice back when she was in middle school. Given her age and that Felice was never great with analyzing literature, her impression of this author had pretty much been ruined. Not that she'd judge anyone else for reading, but Felice was a physics major for a reason.
Before she had a chance to make another comment, the trip host interrupted with his giant, enthusiastic greeting. The guy looks fake, was Felice's immediate thought, as the man sped through the introduction of the plane and trip, but it's not like there's any helping it. Customer service just gotta be like that. Upon hearing "snack packs" from the host, however, Felice automatically peeked underneath her seat. Sure enough, she pulled out a pack of enough food to last her this plane ride, and a pair of earbuds. She placed it in her lap, deciding to save them for later. Nice.
Then came the booming voice of yet another person just boarding the plane. Oh boy, were they dealing with another host? She didn't think a group of thirteen required more than a single guide, or else they'd just get in each other's way. However, Felice clearly hadn't bothered to count the number of guests on this plane beforehand; the one just entering was another one of them, arriving late with a loose backpack and guitar case. Why would you bring your instrument here? Felice tilted her head to one side, confused. You're not worried about ruining your guitar? Dude, those things are expensive. I don't suppose you brought a tuner, extra strings, or anything to protect it from the ginormous levels of humidity on an island trip? She might have never been a guitar player, or a chemistry type of person, but she did play clarinet many, many years ago. As a result, instrument maintenance wasn't a foreign concept to her.
By this point, everyone had resumed their conversations again, so Felice took this as the opportunity to get back to Cecily. "There are a lot of people here," she agreed, glancing around the plane at all the others. She smiled. "Though, I think this is gonna be it. Here's hoping that everyone's here, that no one else missed the flight."

Reuben snickered at her comment, "It's almost as bad as that outfit he's wearing. Do you think the private island we're going to is actually located on that shirt of his?" He shot back, earning a disapproving look from the pilot, who didn't seem to appreciate him talking during her speech. But when another guy burst through the plane entrance at the last second, also interrupting the pilot, Reuben grinned. It appeared he had found a kindred spirit.

Miller answered without hesitating. "I have always found it fascinating knowing why people do the things they do. Growing up, I was constantly reading books about body language, mental health, and what not. Plus, I think it's going to be a really helpful tool in doing art therapy, so I can study my clients' behavior and figure out what they need from me, ya know?" As she talked, she looked at both Aiden, and Magic, wanting to include both guys in the conversation.

Perri couldn’t help but laugh at his comment about the man’s shirt, but before she could make a comment in return, probably something to do with treasure maps, the pair had earned a look from the pilot, who was clearly unhappy to be interrupted.
Not that it mattered because a few seconds later there was a late entrant onto the plane. Very loud, very excited, very much interrupting the pilot.
“Oh god, there are more of you,” Perri joked quietly to Reuben
The new person appeared to be a party person like she could tell Reuben was. And she was saying ‘appeared’ lightly here because it was abundantly clear this guy was confusing the plane for a club or frat party or something.
”Do you guys not get territorial or something if there are too many of you in one place?” she smiled

Grinning at Perri's jokes, Reuben shook his head. "Nah. The more, the merrier, I always say. Nobody likes to party alone!" He told her, before stretching out a hand to the other guy as he walked down the plane's aisle. "What is up, my man? Name's Reuben. And this is Perri the platypus," he greeted, nodding to the blonde girl next to him. Pointing at the empty seat behind him, he added, "Take a seat. This is where the party's at." The seat in question was, obviously, empty, but there was an attractive girl in the seat next to it, so he figured the boisterous newcomer wouldn't complain.

Mylo Evans ~ * ~ * ~ Being used to being in the spotlight, with many pairs of eyes on him at once, Edge was good at reading a crowd, seeing the subtle responses of those before him. So it didn't pass his notice that most of the occupants of the plane were not impressed with his proclamation. Luckily for his ego, he could care less. It's not like he was making music - if he did that, he had no doubt everyone would enjoy the show.
He slid around the woman who had been speaking when he walked in, realized she was the pilot, and shot her a cheeky grin before turning away and starting down the aisle. He didn't get far before another passenger, a guy around his age and clearly a football player, leaned out to offer his hand and introduce himself. Edge grinned and accepted the hand shake. "That so? Well, then it's good to meet you, ese." He canted his head to see around Reuben better and shot his seatmate a charming smile. "And it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Perri the Platypus. I'm Edge." He didn't sit yet, but he swung his back and guitar case off his shoulder and plopped them down in the seat Reuben offered. He offered the girl sitting next to the one he'd claimed a two finger salute.

Perri watched as Reuben introduced himself - and her - to the newcomer on the plane. She was glad there was no need for her to introduce herself fully now, and it was good to have someone to talk to. And when Edge gave her a charming smile, Perri smiled in response. She didn’t like people really but they were in a confined space and so she figured it was better to be social and friendly with these people.
“Is Perri the Platypus just my name now?” Perri asked Reuben with a roll of her eyes before fixing her gaze on Edge “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Edge.”
She looked at his guitar case, raising an eyebrow. As she spoke she brushed a wisp of snow-white hair away from her eyes.
“Well, Reuben, looks like our friend here is either a musician, or he made a very strange packing choice.” she said before looking at Edge once again “I suppose I don’t need three guesses to figure out your major?”
She hadn’t really figured she’d be hanging out with the party people on this trip, but it was turning out to be good so far. Maybe good things happened when she wasn’t her usual self.

Miller smiled as she watched the two guys bond over photography. She was glad Magic had found someone who shared his passion. WHile Magic studied the brightly colored, underwater camera, Miller glanced back at Aiden. Maintaining her smile, she asked, "So! Where are you from, Aiden?" She thought she detected a slight Northern accent, but she wasn't quite sure.

(Hey guys! So, the person who reserved the last two spots never came back so I'm gonna open up the spots to yall first! If you only have one character right now, and want a second one, feel free to claim another! If yall don't want the two spots, then I'll open them up to anyone :) )
Seeing Perri roll her eyes, Reuben nudged her with his elbow and smiled, "Nah. We can go back to Perri," he said, before shifting in his seat so he could see both the blonde and the new guy, Edge. Hearing his companion's question, Reuben chuckled, "Well, Per, clearly you aren't up to date on the latest trends. Everyone has a guitar shaped suitcase nowadays. They're flying off the shelves," he joked, before nodding at the case that sat in the seat behind him. "So, dude, do you just play guitar, or are you into other instruments as well?"
