Hmm that's true that the apprentice usually do stuff like care for the elders and stuff like that. Also what I had in mind for the "council" is like a mix between deputy and senior warrior positions, where the council would advise the leader and help them organize patrols and stuff like that. It would be made up of one cat from each category, maybe one hunter, one fighter and one of a third category? Then upon the leader's death the senior council member would take over as leader and appoint a new cat to be in the council. Apprentices would still exist, and at their apprentice ceremony the leader would decide what category they fit into. I'd like there to be three categories, I'm just not sure what the third one would be exactly. The name Gatherer doesn't really fit a fighting-style role, either, but I like Companion. I had the idea that the third role would be more like a support type role, taking care of things like building dens and nests, gathering supplies out in the territory, etc but idk if that's a very interesting role haha.
Also, since I don't plan on including StarClan, I figure the leader would retain their warrior name and just carry the title of leader, like a deputy or med cat would.

Okay, yeah that makes more sense now. I get what you're going for. I think it will be an interesting dynamic, as well as allowing more people to have a higher position.
Idk about what other people would think, but I like the idea of the third role, 'Companion,' type cat. It wouldn't have the most action or anything, but sometimes I like to play roles like that (ex. queen, kit, mc apprentice).

That's the idea! I think in general there would be less cats in the companion category than the others but that should be fine. I'm going to work on some stuff for an intro, territory, about, and rules soon, so I may go ahead and make a WIP NightClan page where I can tinker with the coding and such. Do you want to claim an important position? I'll be playing the leader but if you want to claim a counciler/healer role feel free! Here's the stuff I'm going to need for the layout, I think:
Intro About Territory Links
Rules Joining Seasons Prey/Predators
Leader Councilers (3) Healer (1) Healer in Training (1)
Hunters Soldiers? (for a name suggestion, idk how i feel about it tho) Companions Apprentices
Queens & Kits Elders Deceased Outsiders
Members Plots
Mentors/Apprentices Relationships Family Tree

I'll probably take one of the councilor roles, thanks! Definitely something I haven't really played before, but I think it would be fun. Also, just realized I put hunter, gatherer, and companion on my post earlier. I meant to put something else for the fighting role. No wonder I was so confused when you said that didn't fit I suppose my brain is short-circuiting already (finals week starts tomorrow for me lol) Anything in particular you want me to work on? I posted some outlines for some stuff earlier, but I'm willing to work on pretty much anything.

If you could brainstorm some cool landmarks/special places for a foresty/rocky territory that would be cool! Also feel free to claim a councilor! I'll have a joining form template up soon and I'll link the NightClan WIP when I start working on it soon.

Sounds good! I'll get back to you soon with landmarks

Here's some ideas for landmarks
- a large, naturally-eroded rock arch, situated in one of the only clearings of the dense forest. Could be used as a Gathering location (if we have border clans) or just as a place for announcements. This arch is easily 10 tail-lengths tall, and it is made of dull grey rock. - the tallest tree in the territory, situated near the camp, is where training occurs for Soldier Apprentices. - a small lake towards the edge of the territory - a sharp drop off cliff on the western border. It is covered in large, jagged rocks, and is a dangerous point in the territory. Apprentices are not allowed to go there without close monitoring by a grown cat.

Thanks! Those are some good ideas, I'll start working on writing up a territory description with these landmarks soon! Here's a link to the WIP page where I'll be coding and writing up everything.

Also one of the idea I had for a potential two-Clan rp would be a neighboring Clan DayClan. They would be moor and field-dwellers and would be much more daylight-oriented than the night-oritented NightClan. They would likely prefer wide open spaces where they can easily see the sun and both Clans would have a similar history.
NightClan's history is that a group of travelling rogues discovered Clan life on their journey and decided they liked the way the Clans lived. They established a Clan-like system (though they changed a few things, such as their faith in StarClan). At this point, maybe the Clan became divided in where and how they wanted to live and a sort of civil war broke out, leading to the creation of DayClan and NightClan, separately. I would just need to find someone familiar with BBCode to be willing to lead/keep up the main page, since I would probably make a matching DayClan layout that's a bit brighter and has a different color palette. What do you think?

I like the idea of having a neighboring DayClan, especially the civil war idea in which they break apart. It adds some drama, as well as allowing us to have a border clan to deal with. As for the history, I like that too! How far back do you propose the separation happened? If we went where it was farther back (a few generations, or so), we could make one of the plot devices to be the divide of ideas in the clan. Like, the older cats want to stick to tradition, and are still hostile towards the border clan, and the younger cats are much more open to intermingling? Idk, just an idea. I would be able to help out with keeping the roleplay(s) up, but as I stated before, I'm pretty useless with BBCode right now

Cool! I figured the internal war would have been at least a few generations back, so none of the original cats would still be alive. And I could see the older cats being more separated than the younger ones! I started tinkering with a possible DayClan layout on the first post, and I'll update the title of the page to make it a two clan rp.

Yeah, I saw that earlier; I like that layout too. Just the right amount of contrast, while still being similar enough to the original.
Two questions: Anything else you need me to do? And: Do you have a specific deadline that you want to have these clans up and running by?

At the moment I'm working on writing the Clan's history and about sections, which will talk about how the two Clans were formed and explain the new positions/customs. Hopefully someone will want to take responsibility for DayClan haha, otherwise I may end up running both pages. One of the things I thought about was replacing the Companion position with more of a Scout position, where they would be specially trained in stealth, including some battle strategies unique from the Soldiers.
For now if you'd be willing to brainstorm some stuff about the DayClan territory/landmarks that would be great, I really liked your ideas for NightClan! DayClan territory is mostly moorlands with tall grasses. They'll be to the south of NightClan and their southern border would be the lake that the gorge's river empties into. To the west would be the cliff, which would span almost all of NightClan and DayClan's territory, and to the north is a mountain range. Maybe there could be a twoleg city to the east?

Hopefully lol. I can take if you can't find someone better suited, though. Running two large clans at the same time would be too much for me Here are some ideas for landmarks (DayClan): - having a twoleg town to the east sounds like a good idea. Maybe if we make is a rural town we could add in the obstacle of horses to the DayClan roleplay? - marsh area near the mouth of the lake. Dangerous for apprentices that haven't learned to swim yet, as they can easily fall in, however it does contain some useful herbs for the medicine cat. Could look like this? - thick, tall grasses on the northeastern side of the territory. There are tall grasses all throughout DayClan's moors, but this grass, in particular, makes it very easy to cats catch prey like small mice (unfortunately, not very filling). It is a key point for the Hunting apprentices because it is where older Hunters teach them to catch prey. - old barn in the southeast. It is completely abandoned, and is starting to rot. Some of the items inside are very odd to the cats. - thunderpath that ends Dayclan's territory to the east. - small forest area near the edge of the territory; the only part of Nightclan's forest that Dayclan has (unfortunately, they are very poor tree-hunters) - large badger set towards the middle of the territory; to be avoided by all cats - [WIP]

Hello! Sorry about my absence, I was traveling all day Wednesday and resting and unpacking on Thursday haha. If you're willing to learn some BBCode I don't think my layouts are too difficult to edit! I make sure to section things out in a way that it's easy to find stuff even in the code, all you would really need to do is be able to copy and paste, but I'll see how it goes! Thanks for the landmark ideas!

Hmm if all else fails I bet I could teach you enough to use my layout at least! The actual coding is harder than using the layout haha, you just need to know where to put the text.
