Hello, everyone. First off, admittedly I’m not great with coding, so that’s my main problem and why this is in the planning pages lol. Good news is that I’m currently very active as the cold and snow isn’t super easy on a wheelchair-user, so all the writing for me by the heater. Anyway, thanks to anyone visiting for your interest!
The main idea revolves around how smart Warriors cats are compared to normal cats and how this could have a Secret of NIMH style flair to the normal type of clan origin. Also there’s the fact that my study of genetics means I know some scientists working on HIV - FIV studies made a transgenic glow-in-the-dark cat by mistake. Fun times. So say a laboratory was working on smarter cats, cats smart enough to gather herbs and even draw with a stick (yes you Jayfeather), cats smart enough to create a society and even religion. So let’s say cats smarter than an average parrot. They have better color vision, able to match colors and shapes, recognize pictures for the item they show, match sight words, etc. They’re smart enough to get down out of a tree if they get stuck. They comprehend the space around them and time passing. This is the first generation. Second generation cats include some polydactyl cats with working opposable thumbs, cats with prehensile tails, cats that can mimic sounds much better with more advanced voice boxes, etc. Those three main things, plus previously mentioned things. Feel free to make other suggestions for abilities.
At some point, the humans/people (as lab cats know them by) or twolegs/no-furs/white coats as control cats or outside cats know them by, disappear. It would seem to be an evacuation, but whatever required their escape doesn’t hurt the lab cats or seemingly any other animals. Luckily a kindly caretaker of the cats decides to release them and leave the lab doors open so they can escape as well. The incident could relate to an EMP, a human disease, or heck even zombie humans if you guys want. As is, the cats are mostly fine and are now free to explore the lab, but as it is their home, they try to stay as long as possible.
The setting is an abandoned small city (big/loud twolegplace) with surrounding suburbs (small/quiet twolegplace) going into some rural area beyond. The cats will have to make their decision to stay in the city, with the concerns of dog packs and rat packs, or make their way out into more wild areas on a journey for proper territory. The cats start out in the laboratory, but the RP begins as they run out of food and the water finally stops arriving (about two weeks, half a moon, into their abandonment). They then have to try to survive on the streets, with the help of other cats, and make their way into being wild, Warriors-esque cats.
The main plot, which any players will help create, revolves first around the quest for a new home outside of the labs. Subplots will revolve around finding food, finding water, meeting less intelligent but still helpful non-lab cats (including control group cats), fighting dogs and rats, and so on. As these cats are more intelligent, including social intelligence, they have a slightly different playing style, but they are also not “street smart” and aren’t aware much of hunting or fighting. You will be able to play as hyper-intelligent lab cats or average cats, but be aware the average cats cannot exceed Warriors abilities unlike the lab cats. If anything, the average cats may come across as not very smart to the lab cats and there may be some prejudice against them--and vice versa.
Character Creation Note: If your cat is a lab cat, they are a transgenic mutant. They aren’t purebred, but they can have features of a purebred. If you play a non-lab cat, they can be any breed including hybrids like Bengals. Despite being oddities, I’d hope the lab cats are mostly natural except for abilities. As it’s been proven possible, “glow in the dark” could be an ability. Any other feline mutations or theoretical possible science-fiction abilities are allowed with permission.
Also since the lab cats understand some human language, they are allowed to understand and have names based on human words or common pet cat names (Fluffy, Whiskers, etc.) which might have been lab human nicknames for them. Otherwise they were given numbers based on generation, so F1-1 or F2-1. They also have a lot of twoleg lore, if we’re going by WAG rules.
While this won’t be a full WAG roleplay, I find the system of abilities, knacks, and skills to be useful for deciding battles, so I’m considering including that and a dice roll feature for any battles with NPCs or character against character. Otherwise your cat can basically do whatever, but please make sure they are flawed and have accidents/make mistakes.
