Sunny nodded eagerly, taking the vase from Ducky's hands as she skipped out the door. Her wings fluttered a bit, taking her off the ground and back down again, though she never really flew. "It's so nice out," she sighed happily.
Mira followed behind a few paces, keeping a close eye on the Flock's youngest member as they walked. "Don't go too far ahead of us," she warned, her maternal concern poking through a bit.
Luke followed Autumn's gaze, grinning mischievously. "Remember, cash only. I'll distract him, you find his money," he murmured to her quickly, then broke away with a cheeky wink. He made his way over to the finely-dressed man, cutting him off in his path. "Hello there, kind sir! You seem like the kind of man who knows where to put his money. Would you be interested in investing in a startup business? It'll be worth your while, I promise. I just need a moment of your time." He gave the man his sweetest smile, laying the charisma on thick.
Autumn snuck up stealthily behind him, eyeing the wallet in one of his open coat pockets. Gently, she said her hand into his pocket, then quickly took it out, managing to not get caught. She began searching for more things he had, and grabbed a few extra dollars she noticed in his back pocket. She gestured to Luke to hurry up and get out, since she had stolen all she could from him. Before she backed away any, she decided to at least stick his driver's license back in his pocket, just to be on the somewhat decent side.
Ducky walked silently enjoying the warm air. Soon the three reached the large field. It was a beautiful sight, black eyed Susan's dandelions and some other flowers speackled the field. Butterflies drifted from flower to flower and some fat old bumbble bees buzzed about their fuzzy legs covered in large chunks of pollen. "We should fill that vase with water before we put flowers in it." Ducky turned his attention to a small stream that curved around the field. "That would be a good place to fill it."
(Sure, feel free! Just use the same form you did earlier.)
"Well, it's a shame that you're not interested," Luke finished, having had his false pitch cleanly rejected. Not that he was surprised; he'd made the pitch so bad that no one would dare commit to actually donating. "Have a good day, sir!" That said, he began to walk away, making sure not to rendezvous with Autumn too quickly for fear of being caught. Once he was a comfortable distance away, he made his way over. "Well, how was my acting?" he asked with a goofy grin and an over the top bow.
Sunny nodded eagerly, crouching down beside the rushing stream and letting the stream water pool inside. "What kinds of flowers should we get?" she asked, glancing toward her two companions.
Mira was already wandering the flower patches, gazing down at the plentiful blooms serenely. It wasn't everyday that she felt this kind of calm accomplishment, so she took advantage of it while she could.
Autumn grinned at him as they walked away. "It was a solid ten!" She giggled. "I managed to snag the guy's whole wallet, save for his driver's license. It doesn't seem like he brought a credit card, so I think we're in the clear for this one. There's just a lot of one hundred dollar bills." She seemed super excited. "I'm buying some little cakes! Those are both delicious, and good for burning!"
Luke laughed, holding his hand out for a high five. "Don't get too excited, with this kind of money we can make it stretch for a long time," he reminded her, though he didn't look totally concerned. "Although, I don't think it would make much of a dent if we picked up a few nice things." He winked, as though these words were some kind of conspiracy. "I say we find a thrift store and then find something to eat. I can pick up a few new things for Mira and Sunny and everyone else, too."
Autumn high fived his hand, and smiled. "Yeah! I like that plan. Maybe we can find some shirts that don't have too many holes in them. Maybe we can get Sunny a stuffed animal if we find one there." She began plotting on how to spend a bit of the money. "But I do agree with you, thrift store, then food. I'm super hungry, and exhausted."
Ducky watched Sunny fill the little blue vase. "I'm not sure." Ducky scanned the field of flowers. "There is so many to pick from." Ducky paused his blurry vision not helping. "What about one of each?" He questioned. Ducky turned his gaze back to Sunny.
Luke nodded his agreement, walking in the direction of a thrift store he frequented. Ducking into the door, he grabbed a basket from the entrance, knowing this would likely be a hefty trip. After all, the Flock could always use new clothes. He drifted toward the clothing section, quickly finding his size and thumbing through the selection. He paused on a particularly gaudy black tee-shirt with a roaring tiger's head on it, complete with shiny sequins to really draw the whole shirt together. Snickering, he held it up for Autumn to see. "What do you think?"
"Mm, good idea," Sunny replied, leaning down to pluck a pretty red flower from the ground and add it to the vase. She began to hum a little tune as she worked, carefully picking the biggest, brightest and tallest blooms for the vase. "It's so nice out... it makes everything else feel like a dream." With this said, her expression dropped a bit, her smile turning sad.
Mira glanced over at this, looking surprised, though she didn't comment, seemingly at a loss for words.
Autumn followed him in, and looked around for a moment. When she was shown the tiger shirt, she broke out into laughter. "Yes! I love it!" She looked around for another, more ridiculous shirt. She then stumbled upon, what she thought, the ugliest sweater she'd ever seen. It had small, multi colored balls of fluff attached to very poorly made cats, with button eyes, which were pretty much all gone. It looked like it was hit by a bus. "How about this?"
Luke stifled a snicker behind his hand at the sight of the nasty looking sweater. "It looks like a fairy threw up cotton balls onto a pile of garbage. It's perfect," he amswered. He hung up tiger shirt back up and beginning to seriously look for wearable clothes. Tee shirts and sweat pants were the cheapest, and also Mira's choice of wardrobe, so he used his best judgement to pick out a few things for her while also scanning for his own wardrobe.
≫| Jib | 17 | Female| Ice Pigeon | Jib is a rather tall hybrid with long dirty blond hair and sharp green eyes. She tends to wear t-shirts and shorts with a old pair of sneakers. She also wears a silver ring on her. Left pinky. Jib has a large pair of ice pigeon wings. Jib is soft spoken and rarely tells any one what she is feeling, she can be cold and distant. Her special ability is invisibility. Her special ability is the reason how she got out. She punched a doctor in the face and managed to climb out a window. She had a sister named Sparrow. Jib tends to break rules and sometimes doesn't even listen to Mira. (Fuzzymask)
Ducky padded Sunnys back, seeing her mood shift rather quickly. Ducky knelt so he was eye level with her. "You know some day it will just be a bad old dream. Some day we all could live peacefully in a big old house with a pretty garden out back." Ducky hated seeing Sunny sad.
Autumn nodded, holding back her laughter this time, and starting looking for something to wear, and a small stuffed animal for Sunny. She didn't know what Ducky would wear, but she knew Sunny wasn't all that picky. She tried to find something slightly nice for her. Autumn managed to find a small graham patterned dress that looked just right for her. "Hey Luke, you think Sunny would like this?" She showed him the dress.
(Looks good! I'll add her when I get to my computer, but feel free to rp her until then if you like.)
Sunny offered Ducky a more genuine smile this time, glad for the comforting words. "Yeah, that sounds nice," she whispered, reaching out to pick another flower and add it to the vase.
Mira let out a breath, grateful for Ducky's comforting presence. Emotions weren't exactly her strong suit. Even Sunny had a better handle on expressing herself than she did herself.
Luke looked up at the dress Autumn held up, nodding his approval. "Yeah, I think she'll really like it," he replied with a smile. He made his way over to her, basket partly filled with clothes for himself and Mira, along with a few other bits and pieces he'd thought his Flock-mates might like. "I wonder if they have any stuffed zebras here, they're her favorites."
Autumn smiled. "I thought she might. Anyway, I'll go look for some zebra stuffed animals then. Maybe I'll actually find one." She began heading towards the toy section of the through store, which was pretty much a really tall set of boxes filled with random toys. They were almost too tall for her. She managed to jump up and climb in, digging around for any zebra stuffed animals, tossing out ones that weren't a zebra out.
Luke sat down on the floor beside Autumn, sifting through one of the boxes for something that stood out. "Any luck?" he asked Autumn, moving onto a different box. This one was full of model vehicles; cars, trains, planes, and even a few construction vehicles.
"Not ye-" She paused in her sentence and in her digging to find a small, dirty little zebra, missing part of an ear, and a button eye looking like it was about to fall off. "I got one! But it's really, really, REALLY rough." She grabbed it, holding it gently while coming out of the box. She fell backwards, landing on the ground with a painful thunk.
"Hm, maybe we can fix it up-" Luke jumped to his feet in surprise as Autumn suddenly fell backward, wincing. "Autumn? Are you alright?" he asked, pushing a few boxes away to make room for her to sit up. "That sounded like it hurt."
Ducky smiled and started picking flowers for the vase too. He made sure he picked the biggest and prettiest one's. He also made sure to stay away from any butterflies that where getting a little too close for comfort.
(I was wondering if Jib could just barely join the flock? Like if Sunny Mira and Ducky stumble upon her?)
(Sure, that sounds like it would be interesting, hehe)
Sunny returned to picking flowers for the vase, only pausing when it was filled to the brim with a colorful variety of blooms. She smiled at the bright bouquet, already looking forward to what it would look like sitting on their kitchen table. "I don't think we can fit any more flowers in here," she declared, pushing herself to her feet and dusting off her dress.
Mira nodded her agreement. "Yeah, looks pretty full," she agreed. She was leaning up against a tree warily, suddenly finding herself unable to relax. This wasn't the first time it had happened; the silence was always nice at first, but it inevitably gave fear to an irrational paranoia that something terrible was about to happen to break the peace. She let her eyes wander over the woods, frowning slightly.
Ducky got to his feet and dusted his pants. "I cant wait to put it on the kitchen table." Ducky chuckled. He glanced over to Mira her uneasy gaze made the hair on the back of Ducky neck prickle with worry. But not wanting to frighten Sunny he didnt comment on it. "Lets head back to the cabin. Luke and Autumn should be getting home soon."
Jib had finally did it, she had finally escaped. But not unscathed, flying through a glass window sure does leave its mark. Jib crindged and tightened the make shift bandaged on her arm. Jib sighed and looked around and now she was lost in some stupid forest. Jib looked up at the sky. Sparrow would know what to do. The thought made Jib flinch. Sparrow was dead and there was nothing she could do. With a mighty sigh Jib trudged on through the forest.
Mira sighed, lowering her head a bit. *Stupid... there's nothing there, of course there's nothing there,* she thought to herself, mentally beating herself for being so paranoid. As she pushed herself up from the tree, however, she froze. She could hear the telltale sound of footsteps coming closer to where she was standing. Tensing, she turned around to face the sound. "Ducky, Sunny," she hissed under her breath. "Something's coming."
Sunny nodded, standing up and beginning to follow behind Ducky, when she heard Mira's warning. "What is it?" she asked, a hint of apprehension in her voice. She hadn't been gone from the School all that long at this point, and the thought immediately came to her mind that the scientists must have come to take her back. She shivered, holding her arms close to her chest protectively.
Ducky froze, being semi blind really had is draw backs. Snapping out of his frozen state and thinking fast he gently took Sunnys hand and softly tugged her behind a large old maple tree. He crouched down low. "Its most likley a deer." He whispered to Sunny. "But we can never be to careful."
Jib froze, she scanned the forest around her. She could of sworn she heard something. A voice. Jib was to tired to use her special ability and she was to weak to fight any erasers. Jib pressed her injured arm to her chest. She would make to much noise flying. Maybe she was just hearing things. Jib begane walking again. Her sharp green eyes scanning the forest around her, she could see a field of flowers ahead of her. She then saw movement. Was it human? Deer? Fox? Some one from the school? Jib felt her breath get caught in her throat.
Sunny let herself be tugged along, eyes never leaving the spot that Mira was intently staring at. She pressed both her hands against the tree's trunk, clinging to it to keep herself grounded. her heart was pounding in her ears, thoughts swirling with all her fears and the possibilities of what could come from this encounter.
Mira lowered herself into a protective stance, prepared to fight if need be. *What a time for our Flock to be split,* she thought bitterly, but her thoughts quickly went away when she saw someone approach. "Who's there?" she called, hand moving to her boot. She tugged a long blade from her sock, holding it in front of her for protection.
Ducky watched Mira with large pale blue eyes. It a fight did break out he was useless the only thing he could do was run. But knowing his luck he was run into a tree. Ducky shivered.
Jib jumped when she heard a voice, it was a female around her age maybe a little older. But Jib was still frozen in place, to weak to run, to weak to fly. She had lost a lot of blood. She wasnt going to trust this voice she had to be careful or she would end up back in the school. Jib took a step back. But with that small movement her head begane to spin and before she knew it Jib was lying on her back. Black dots spreading across her vision.
Mira straightened up when she heard the thud, surprised. "Ducky, Sunny, stay there. I'm going to check it out," she announced, walking toward where she heard the noise. She kept her guard up, wary of a possible surprise attack, but instead all she found was a lone girl, laying on the ground, obviously injured and nearly unconscious. Mira paused, shocked, and it was then that she noticed the girl's wings. "Another hybrid," she gasped. She knelt down at the girl's side, giving her a quick once-over. She looked exhausted, probably starving, and her arm was injured. Where had she come from, and where was she going? Had she been followed? Thoughts swirled around in Mira's head as she tried to figure out what to do. Obviously, they couldn't just leave her there. "Can you hear me?" she asked the girl, wondering if she was still somewhat conscious. "My name is Mira. I can help you, so just stay still." She turned back toward Sunny and Ducky. "Run ahead of me and grab the first aid kit!"
Sunny jumped as Mira suddenly called out to her, poking her head out from around the tree to see what was going on. She gasped softly. "She has wings," she said in awe.
Jibs head throbbed, her vision flicking in and out. At this moment Jib welcomed the inky blackiness of unconscious. But a voice brought her back her green eyes flicked open. It was the girl, her head was turned and she was calling to someone. Jibs white and stone blue wings flicked out in fear, this girl could be from the school, or a human that would sell her to some zoo. Jib gasped with fear and tried to pull herself from this Mira girl.
Ducky followed Miras order."Come on Sunny we need to get a first aid kit." Ducky started back towards the cabin, "Sunny stay close." He called over his shoulder. Ducky made sure Sunny was close as he quickly made hia way to the cabin.
"Ah, right," Sunny replied, hurrying to catch up with Ducky as they headed back to the cabin. "Mira keeps the first aid kit in the closet in our bedroom," she explained, slipping into the cabin and heading for the room to fetch the kit. She opened up the closet and pointed to a high shelf, too high for her to reach. "It's up there."
"Hey, it's okay. You're safe now," Mira soothed, attempting to put as much comforting presence into her words as she could manage. "I'm like you. Someone who was experimented on and treated like an animal. I can protect you, but I need you to trust me." That said, she leaned down and scooped the girl up into her arms with relative ease. She was careful not to jostle her injured arm too much, not wanting to hurt her more than she was already hurt.
Ducky nodded and with a little help from his wings he leaped up and grabbed the first aid kit. "Alright Lets go." Ducky turned and quickly slipped back out into the forest making sure Sunny was close behind. Soon Ducky and Sunny reached Mira and the new girl. "Here." Ducky passed the kit over to Mari.
Mari soothing words did kind of help Jib but she was still very frightened and her head throbbed when Mari picked her up. She wasnt use to this kindness.
