. Artemis Kollsvein . Rider of Juno the Stormcutter [ Misty Backwoods | 𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 's Luca Halvar & Zero ]
With massive beats of her wings, the stormcutter held her position in a regal hover, observing the duo’s flight patterns with a keen eye. Artemis, too, watched intently, finding the rider’s excitement at showing off to be endearing at beast.
It was then the Luca gave his dragon the order to dive.
Standing up, she peered over Juno’s branching horns, watching as the two plummeted to the ground with aerial mastery. She held her breath as the ground’s distance closed in on them, but exhaled it in a relieved huff when they leveled out just in time—shooting like a bullet across the land. It was a wonder how their intense speed kept them from crashing into the cluster of trees surrounding them, but perhaps their flying prowess also stretched to evading obstacles. What with Zero’s streamlined body and small form, said task could be easily executed, but the added speed could be potentially hazardous.
Her own dragon was much too massive and bulky for weaving in and out of a woodland—stealth wasn’t a stormcutter’s strong suit, it was their overwhelming power and nobility. “Come on Juno, let’s follow,” she told her dragon. Juno gave a low growl and refused to budge, the two staying suspended in the air whilst the others continued their racing practice. For a moment, Artemis was confused, and rather irked by her dragon’s refusal to join in the fun. However, it then occurred to the femme that it was perhaps her posture that was lending to Juno’s disapproval. With a grumpy grumble, Artemis seated herself, reclining back into the safety of her saddle.
The moment that transpired, the owlish dragon lurched forward with a proud roar. Folding her wings to her side, she dove forward in a rapid descent. Given her weight, the reptile plummeted like a bowling ball, the wind that whistled in her ear growing into a roar. Butterflies erupted in Artemis’ stomach, but she didn’t mind. On the contrary, the viking adored the sensation and gave an excited holler. Juno rolled her eyes at her rider’s enthusiasm, but even she couldn’t deny the thrill wrought by flight.
Barrel-rolling the last few feet between sky and woodland, the dragon leveled out from the spiral, going into a gentle glide just above the treetops. Artemis’ heart thrummed against her chest and she grinned giddily from the adrenaline rush. What an amazing feeling!
Peering to the side Juno’s neck, the rider caught sight of Zero’s blurred body. The two followed in pursuit. The warrior wanted to call out to Luca, but she wondered if by doing so, he’d loose focus and crash. Still, Artemis couldn’t contain herself—she had to talk, whether it was to voice her emotions or opinions.
“Go Luca and Zero!” she cheered in a burst of pride for the duo.

Luca was so focused on their flight path that he almost didn't hear her. When he did though a smile broke across his face and he remembered why he loved showing off so much. It was the best feeling to impress people. Zero roared in response and sped up further. Some people could master something but still mess up when they were in front of a crowd. Luca and Zero were the exact opposite of that. In front of a crowd they could do something impressive without having mastered or even practiced it before.
Finishing off their run Zero veered to the side and looped back so they were flying beside Artemis and Juno "So, what did you think? Were you impressed by our speed and skill?" Luca called over the wind, obviously pleased with himself. He may be unbearably egotistical but sometimes you just had to hand it to him.
"We practiced that so we could keep from losing speed when flying in the forest or in any place that's really tight." he bragged, tapping Zero on the side appreciatively. Even if Luca wanted to be the one in the limelight he always gave credit when credit was due. Zero had stuck with him. They still weren't there yet though. Luca could fell a light cut on his shoulder where a branch they hadn't avoided had nicked him. It was only a matter of time though.
"You guys kept up. Maybe you should join the next race. It would make it a lot more fun."

. Artemis Kollsvein . Rider of Juno the Stormcutter [ Misty Backwoods' Sky | 𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 's Luca Halvar & Zero ]
Artemis watched them pull out from within the confides of the forest, gaze holding an interested spark. The duo were surely built for speed. Even Luca’s build connoted to that of a slender runner, not the typical beefiness found in most nordic men.
“You did great!” she admired and if Luca were have been closer, she would’ve jabbed his arm in a congratulatory manner. “Zero makes for a fine racing dragon. The two of you were just weaving in and out of the trees without a problem. Very impressive.”
She patted her own dragon on the neck, Juno’s smooth scales rippling beneath her touch. If ever the need for the two to travel through a woodland, she would have to equip her stormcutter with sharpened shears for wings, to basically cut down all trees similar Timerjack’s own prowess, as they didn’t have a Night Fury’s agility to evade and weave in the fashion Zero had done.
“Oh, the next race? Me? Ha!” She gave a loud, booming laugh, slapping her thigh in amusement. “If I were apart of the race, Juno would most likely bully her way to the top by pushing dragons out of the way or tearing sheep forcibly from their grasp. She doesn’t play around when challenged. And hey, there’s no rule against it.”
The dragon beneath her gave a low warble, though it was uncertain if she was disapproving of the statement or agreeing with it. Regardless, the warrior grinned mischievously and twiddled the war hammer in her hand, feeling it’s intimidating weight shift and correct itself.
“And I won’t hesitate to knock riders off their saddle with this here Bonecrusher. I saw Tuffnut do it three times with Snotlout and no penalty was thrown. Yeah, ‘more fun’ indeed.” Her smile broadened and her following words were playful and teasing. “You may be fast and nimble, but Juno and I are a tank. Tell me, how do you fare with combat?”

Unless you count the Red Death rip And I could totally see her clashing against 【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 's commander Astera! But sure, I can totally reserve it for you. For the Alpha thing, it's up to you~ Usually it's the leader's dragon that's the Alpha of a pack (like Hiccup/Toothless) but sometimes it isn't, like how Astera's dragon isn't Alpha of the Sky Scrapers' pack ^^ }

Astera Fyrason - Rider of Celestial Solstice the Woolly Howl The Village Forge ᔕɿɱƿՆעᗰעς੮ע 's Ragnol & Dust Devil
The brunette only shrugged off his reply. "No worries. It's one of my requirements as Commander to execute anyway." What she said wasn't a lie, she had to interact with half of the jobs her own Wing's village had done. She had already completed some like hunting on water and on land, taking place of one of the weavers for a day, and more activities similar to so. One time, she had to do training to gut a fish, and she definitely wasn't content with the job. She felt bad for the poor creature. The way they stuck a small string connected to an arrowhead through it’s gills, and the way they suffocated the poor aquatic life. And finally, when she had to get her hands dirty and stab her knife into them. That was one experience she wasn't happy with. Astera was more kind than anything, as she preferred for all life to live happily and unnerved with, such as killing boar, pig, cow, and more other creatures like fish and goat. It made her upset to hurt the poor animals, but she didn't deny loving the taste of them.
She shook her head, red-brown curls bouncing over her shoulders and she crossed her arms. "Do you not believe in me, Ragnol? I can take care of things. I'm the Commander, after all!" The leader teased him, and to his new question, she nodded. "Being by the Bay would be better than being in this heat. Would you like to take anything before we go?"
~ Celestia turned her attention back to the two humans, her resting position was as elegant as her colors. Although that wouldn't may much sense, the way she sat was much more than simple, and she crossed her slightly-skinnier limbs over one another and her wings folded in, the blue highlights of her skin blending in the with burgundy. To Dev's reply, Celestial's once, slightly concerned expression returned to countenance. 'That's good, because she takes an interest in him too, believe it or not.' The female paused, continuing to think about her comrade's sentence. 'Perhaps it did. They were really close. But I wish he could know how much she wanted to choose him. I remember Astera explaining how much she wanted to choose Ragnol, but it would've been bad on her part because he's a childhood friend and supposedly "favoritism".'
The Woolly Howl leaned her back inwards, rippling out a harmonic crackle of each individual bone among her spine popping. She hadn't done it in a while, and though her rider explained it was bad, Celestia still continued to do it. With that, she let out a soft coo in content of the tension relieved off of her back. 'Why would he think that? Astera thinks he's nothing but a hard worker and that he's very useful to the Village.' She paused, catching on Dev's words. 'Mocking their relationship? They'll have to deal with me if they don't agree.' The dark-scaled femme's voice had an off-tone to it, something that showed more dominance and protectiveness— something that was rare to catch.
Once more, Celestia paused to think about her opposing friend's query. With a grin that bared her fangs in a cute way, that, in modern day she would be deemed as something similar to a 'vampire-dragon', and her eyelids folded down to curl over her lavender orbs in a calm gesture. 'Of course she does! All she ever does is talk to me about him. Although it never seems like it, I think she's quite interested in him.' Her elegant fur-like scales flew over her shoulder when she nudged her head back in thought. 'Do you.. do you think we could try getting them to know that one likes the other?'
There was her friend's reply, and then, Celestial only nodded. There was nothing much she could say, Dust Devil was indeed right about their customs. Suddenly a thought came into her head and she gave a small smile. 'Well if I was Alpha, I'd change those rules and they'd have nothing to do but listen to me, wouldn't they?'

Lycaonia
Getting Better, but Very Tired.
|
Post by Lycaonia on Nov 8, 2018 17:21:38 GMT -5
((Sorry for the wait. I currently have a migraine and am posting on strong painkillers, so please excuse any mistakes.)) Eerika Ljungstrand and Runa ~ Outside Berk ~ With Sigurd Afargus and Ladon ( 【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】) Eerika smirked slightly, running a hand over the edge of Runa's wing, careful not to cut herself. "My girl's great at wood collecting, of course," She said as Runa growled happily at getting stratches, "But she's also real useful for shaving away ice that's too close to anything flammable." The girl chuckled at Sigurd's admiration of her dragon. "I think she's the most beautiful dragon in the world," She agreed, looking down at Runa's scarred and pitted hide. Some might see the small Timberjack as ugly with her damaged scales and broken horn, but to Eerika she just looked strong. Like a survivor. "Though your boy there is gorgeous as well," She appraised the exotic-looking Moldruffle, admiring the fierce red spines and iridescent blue. Humming in thought, Eerika draped herself over Runa's lithe neck again, rubbing her hands over the scars there. "Misty Backwoods might be good," She agreed, thinking it over, "But Runa has a hard time actively hunting there without knocking any trees down." Runa grumbled, irritated but acknowledging it as true. "How about the Spine?" Eerika offered, referring to the Dragon Spine Range, "There's a lot of goats around there. I think there's even a wild Yak herd or two."

A bit shorter than usual, my bad!)
Luca tilted his head at that question "Well I wouldn't say we could defeat someone in a single blow." translation, they didn't practice fighting all that much. But with their speed and agility they wouldn't have to worry "And you may be a tank, but tanks are the ones that get enemies. I could totally see a group ganging up on you." as she had said, there were few rules when it came to the races. They were vikings after all, if it wasn't dangerous it wasn't fun for the hardened warriors. Even Luca, someone who didn't fit your stereotypical viking mold enjoyed the danger. The more dangerous something was the more attention he got for attempting and living through it.
"Now you've gotten me excited. If you don't participate in the next race I'll be disappointed." he feigned a frown "I may have to reconsider even being your friend." this was a joke on his part. Even if Artemis was a bit intimidating when compared to him he enjoyed her company. Zero rolled his eyes, knowing that his rider would rarely outright ignore someone. In Lucas' eyes, even bad attention was attention.

. Ragnol Ulfketil . Rider of Dust Devil the Sand Wraith [ The Village Forge | 【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 's Astra & Celestial ]
He gave a slow nod at her comment, but inwardly remained unconvinced. Though the commander sounded genuine in what she spoke, he still didn’t agree with her taking on what hadn’t already been jotted down on her list of to-do’s. Not that he doubted the lass—no, he knew how capable she was, why else would Hiccup have taken an interest?—but he noticed what a toll such an important job took, whether if it was the stress wrought or the deficit of energy that came out of multi-tasking. Regardless, Ragnol did not wish for her to do anything more than she had to. Perhaps it was a protective thing, perhaps it was his compassion, but he worried for his friend and the chances of overworking herself. Still, he managed a grin, more so for Astera’s sake rather than the uneasiness he currently felt.
“No, no, of course not. I would never doubt you.” His voice was playful, with amused undertones. Despite these underlying sentiments, the blacksmith’s words rung true—he wouldn’t doubt his Wing’s Commander. He trusted her with so much, and she had yet to disappoint.
The thought made him pause. Sure, she hadn’t disappointed him, but had he disappointed her?On instinct, his gaze drifted to their dragons—busy emitted enthusiastic grunts and guttural growls—and briefly wished for the emotional support he had when his Sand Wraith stood by his side. Dust Devil seemed to make everything better somehow, and he couldn’t have been more grateful. Hearing his companion again, he blinked suddenly, turning back to face her.
“Hmm? Oh no, nothing from the forge. Though…” Tugging at his smock’s straps, the man unclipped their connection and strolled over to a nearby hanger—one jutting out of a wooden column. There, he hung the pinafore over the metallic hook, watching the soot-afflicted piece of clothing sag without bodily support.
The removal of the overall revealed a beige, nearly immaculate tunic, a stark contrast to all the ash and dirt the entirety of his apron had collected. Not to be mistaken, the tunic did have some residue, mostly noticed at the edges of his sleeves, which he presently rolled up. The skin beneath was tanned, with some freckles here and there, but the arm was unmistakably muscled—leant to years of working at the forge. He turned back to Astera, suddenly looking taller and more mature without the apron hanging from his neck.“Shall we get going?”
{ x } Her hardened crowning nubs buzzed as they quivered slightly, listening intently to the words uttered by the adjacent dragon. She heeded each spoken sentence with interested eye and a piqued posture—cranium upthrust and alert, shoulders straightened and proper. ‘Humans are so judgmental. If a leader sees someone fit for a role, who cares if they knew each other when hatchlings? I sure wouldn’t!’
Her haw nictitated, drawing the third eyelid swimmingly across her optics, damping it just so. It was almost done in a pensive, thoughtful fashion.
‘I think humans call it insecurities? It makes them think irrational thoughts that are usually false. But yeah, they’ll have to got through me too.’
She grinned playfully, fanning out her wings in an almost defensive manner. It was all in good-spirit of course, and they promptly returned tightly to her sides. ‘Sure! What do you suggest? Maybe I can have Ragnol give her a freshly caught cod. That’s romantic, right?'
She righted herself abruptly, returning to her quadruped stance—hearing her rider’s voice nearing. They were about to takeoff! Dev did manage to give a laugh at her friend’s last comment, the Woolly Howl having an underlying tone of naive enthusiasm. The dragon understood the sad truth, however, but decided not to burst Celestial's bubble. ‘Hmm… maybe! but I don’t think it works like that. Who knows.’
