So I was typing up a thing about making a full-blown all four Clans type roleplay, but as I was doing that, I realized a couple of things. One, I don't really have the time or energy right now for four Clans (even if I'm only running one of them), and two, I was thinking of a plot which would take a lot of the interesting action away from the Clans, so why bother making them when we can scale it down to just the relevant characters? So that's what this would be- a roleplay consisting just of the characters going on the journey, with the rest just being less developed side characters only played as needed. Later, once the quest was complete, we could possibly turn it into a larger-scale rp if we were really passionate about it, or just keep the small group going, or whatever.
So, about the plot. At the moment, it's not anything super well developed, but I do have a basis and some ideas. The Clans are suffering from a terrible and seemingly incurable plague, and it's killing off many cats. The Clans are growing desperate- they've tried just about everything to cure the plague and stop cats from catching it, but nothing seems to work. Finally, one cat (or several, whatever works) has a dream or vision of some sort, learning that there is an herb in a place far, far away that can cure the disease. So, each Clan picks one (or two) of its strongest, healthiest cats to send on a quest and gather as much of the herb as they can to bring back. So, the cats must traverse many different challenges and landscapes to try to complete the quest before many of their Clanmates die, dealing with their own rivalries and difficulties on the way, as well as the immense stress and pressure of the expectations and hope put on their shoulders. It's possible, too, that one or more of those sent might end up carrying the disease with them....
Obviously, there's still a lot to decide: where the cats are going, how many of them are sent, how the place/herb is discovered and how they are guided there, which territory (forest or lake) to use, what path they must take and the challenges and dangers there, etc. etc. Overall, I'm looking for people who are on the high end of semi-literate or literate for this (so, a few paragraphs per post most of the time) and who are willing to be in this for a while (though you can always kill off your characters if you want to leave), and who are willing to contribute to the ideas and plot of the rp (as a lot of the places/dangers will probably be made up on the fly). I'm thinking that we need at least 3 or 4 people for this (2-3 main characters for each), but no more than 5 or 6.
