In the midst of his amazement, Rascal almost missed the scent of a new cat. He looked around until he saw a somewhat familiar figure. It wasn't exactly that he knew the cat, but he'd seen him a few times. "Hey there!" he called out with a friendly mrrow.

Baby let the knew stranger's arrival hide his embarrassment and flush at Rascal's amazed expression. He gathered his wits about him and looked across, just to see another cat like them. Well, this one more like Rascal. A street cat. Or was he? His scent had a collection of Owners and the outside world, the "city". Maybe he did both. He took a step back. This was more cats he'd interacted with in the past week, more so because of his surgery, and also because he just wasn't that social around other cats. He'd been sheltered most his life. So...it was strange. Yet exciting. "U-uh, hello."

When the newcomer didn't react to him or Baby, Rascal rolled his shoulders in a shrug. Maybe they didn't want to be sociable. "Well, I'm going to find a nice sunny spot to lounge. Feel free to join me," he told Baby before turning around. The tom wandered through the alleys, squinting as he looked up to gauge the sunlight. Surely there was a safe place to lay not far away.
((Whelp, tried waiting but they haven't been on in a while and we'd both posted before their last time on.))

Taboo looked around with narrow eyes, allowing his whiskers to twitch as a small breeze blew against him. The black tom lowered his head slightly, wondering if he'd be able to find anyone he could try to practice manipulation on.

((Whelp, tried waiting but they haven't been on in a while and we'd both posted before their last time on.)) (so sorry it's taken me quite a while to post, i just now seen your reply) Baby twitched his ears and followed the tom, eyes glancing back at his home. He'd come back. Surely, they wouldn't miss him for long. He remembered the last time he'd gone out and into the alley near his neighborhood. He'd met a few more cats then, but they hadn't been so friendly to him. Especially not as nice as Rascal was being to him. The other cats had tried to jump him and kill him. He'd come home torn up, so much so that his Owners had to take him to the Healer. That had been such a long time ago though. Well, about a few moons ago. Still, the layer of distrust he had with this alley gave him anxiety. He hoped that if something were to happen, Rascal would have his back. "You must know this place well if you travel around here a lot." Baby said, looking around the dark corners of the place. He hoped they'd find a good place to rest and sunbathe for a while. His pelt was beginning to get cold.

(i'll use one of my other characters since they haven't been replied on for a while) Mikel was sitting alongside the street, away enough from his place at the park. He had normally kept to the park, but he was beginning to starve. His belly growled, like a ferocious beast. He winced. He needed food, and all the mice continued to get the upper hand back at the park. It was like they knew he was there. He needed to be more careful...he wasn't that great of a street cat. He took one step closer to the alleyway he'd visited after he was dropped off here. He hadn't been here in a while...but he could do this quickly. He just needed to go in, find some reasonable food in the trash or any rats or mice around the vicinity, and then he'd be good to go. He'd run straight back to his little hideaway in the hollow of a tree in the park. Mikel sprang forward into the alleyway.

Taboo had spotted a less dangerous, more thin and uncertain tom. Nodding in silent agreement to his own plans, he hopped down in front of what appeared to be an abandoned kittypet, and tilted his head with a fake look of concern. "Hello there, friend. You alright?" he asked slowly.

Finally seeing a nice big patch of sun over a flower patch, Rascal nodded. "Oh yeah, I spend a lot of time going around about half the city," he told Baby. "I'm in roughly a different spot each day, but there are a few places I know that I like to visit more often." He plopped down amongst the lavender and stretched. His fur was warming up already, and he was so comfortable that he didn't hear the thump on the windowsill above them.
"What're you doing out there?" a loud voice wailed. It came from a large grey Persian looking down at the two toms with large green eyes. She didn't seem angry, just curious and a tad scared.

Mikel jumped back in fear as the new cat appeared before him. He hadn't scented him, maybe it was because Mikel was so afraid and nervous. He needed to calm down and get his wits bout him. He could confront this tom. He'd done it before, but last time...last time he'd almost died. He could fight, sure. But it wasn't always easy. He honestly was just so hungry...he didn't care. "Uh, yeah. I'm fine." He said, voice low and full of uncertainty, "Who are you? This your territory or something?"
---
Baby had settled himself near Rascal, enjoying the sun. He could easily fall asleep in this spot. Also, the lavender was quite relaxing. He'd never come over this way before, as he rarely went over to another Owner's area. Other than the forest itself, of course. When he heard the she-cat above them, he raised his muzzle up in surprise, bright yellow eyes wide. "O-oh, um...hello there." he said, his ears moving back, "We just came to sit for a little while. Are these your flowers?"

At the loud voice, Rascal merely rolled his eyes. Ah yes, I forgot about her, he thought to himself. The grey tom shifted to make sure he was facing away from the window.
The Persian above nodded her head rapidly. "Well they're my Twolegs, so I guess they're mine?" Her eyes got even wider as she began to stammer. "O-oh but feel free to lay there, I don't mind. I just thought maybe you were one of those meaner cats. Sometimes they tease me when they come to enjoy the flowers," she explained. Her head ducked just a little as she went on, as if she were hiding from those very cats now.
"That's Nell," Rascal told Baby quietly without moving. "She's nice but a nervous wreck."

((Thank you!^^))
Taboo chuckled in amusement, beginning to turn and circle the smaller, scrawnier tom. The loner had been living on the streets his whole life, so he most definitely knew his way around and rarely went a night hungry. "I"m Taboo, but I ain't got no territory. I roam around, just makin' sure you ain't gettin' into any trouble," he grumbled quietly, tail flicking behind him. His size was intimidating, but at heart Taboo was a real big softy.

Baby flicked his ears at the two cats, amusement settling in his throat as he addressed the new she-cat. "Oh, well. My name is Baby. We're, uh, not gonna get mad at you or anything. We just came to sunbathe. No worries. You ever come down to sunbathe?" He asked, curiously. He glanced over at Rascal, eyes full of questions, as he began to give his own flank a few licks to settle his fur. They must have known each other.
---
Mikel shook his head quickly, "N-no trouble. Just passing through. Trying to find a good meal somewhere." He lowered his ears as he noticed the bigger tom circling him. "Um, you wouldn't happen to know where any are...do you?" It wouldn't hurt to ask. Maybe. Unless the tom decided to attack him. But he didn't see why the tom would, considering this wasn't his territory. Then again, Mikel didn't quite understand how living as a streetcat worked, or the rules on "who to fight" and "who to not kill". He wasn't a very good street cat. More like a forest cat. Or grass...cat? He prefered the clearing area with the trees more than the street and tall twoleg dens.

Learning that this new cat was friendly, Nell relaxed a bit. She scooted closer to the end of the ledge and kneaded it. "Well yes, of course. Just usually not when other cats are around," she said. But obviously she wasn't in any danger with these two, so surely it'd be ok to come down now. She still looked a little hesitant when she heard Rascal sigh. The grey tom sat up and tilted his chin at her.
"Come on Nell, no one's gonna bother you while I'm around," he told her gruffly. The mrrow the Persian made before hopping to the grass, although he wouldn't admit it, warmed him. Outwardly though, the tom just huffed and scooted to make room for the third party member.
"This is great, much nicer than coming out alone and jumping at every sound," Nell purred as she settled in between the two other cats. She looked at Baby, eyes still wide. "Are you an outside cat too?"

(i thought i'd already responded! apologies! ) Baby smiled as Nell joined them, no longer hesitant now that he knew Rascal was welcoming to the she-cat. He purred softly and rested his muzzle on his paws, yawning. "Oh, no I'm not an outside cat. I don't live far from here, with some Owners. They're pretty nice. A mother and a kit. The kit's a little one, soft and squishy looking. He's a funny kit, that one." Baby laughed softly as he remembered the time the Owner's baby had first come home. He'd been curious as to when the mother would give birth--she'd been pregnant for quite a few moons. Maybe that was just natural time for them, he wasn't sure. She had been gone for a whole couple days, and then she returned, carrying the little kit in a small nest with a handle. He'd gotten close to him, sniffed him, and noticed the boy was a bit sickly. Maybe he was just born that way. The mother had shooed him off at first, but eventually, he'd grown attached to the kit and could even sleep next to him, making sure the kit was safe from harm. He'd thought he heard his Owner call him "Thomas", but he wasn't sure if that was in Owner language or not. "What kind of owners do you have?"

((It's all good, this seems like a roleplay that will last even if it's responded to at odd intervals.))
Nell chirped at the mention of an Owner's kit. "My Owner has two kits, one seems to be about half their size and the other sounds a little bigger than yours. That one likes to crawl around with me sometimes, which is fun. They all leave during the day though," she told Baby. The older kit was mostly grown when she was brought in as a kit herself. She wondered if that's why they were calmer? "The whole lot of them are wonderful when they're around."
Listening to his companions talk about their housefolk, Rascal felt the need to scoff. He didn't, out of respect, but boy did he want to. Sure the ones that fed him were great, but too many others were neglectful at best and violent at worst. He's had his share of both and refused to fully trust an Owner since.

"I really love my Owner and her kits. Though, I have always wondered what it's like to leave outside, to have all that freedom..." Baby thought about the pain it would take to leave his little family, to see the pain in his Owner's face, to see an older version of her kit giving him wet eyes. He wasn't sure if he would risk that. But, the outside world did call for him. It was why his leg had almost been gnawed off by a fox. He was too adventurous for his own good. "Have you ever had an Owner, Rascal?" Baby turned his head to the other tom, curling his tail around his paws.

A tortoiseshell she-cat made a turn on a corner, her bright green eyes narrowed at her paws as she padded along. Something was obviously bugging the slender cat but she wasn't too tense. Her feathery tail swayed with her steps. She was new to the area after escaping her past owners. The former kitty-pet was just tired of that life and wanted excitement, but now hungry and lonely she might've regretted that choice.

Salem was sitting on top of a dusty old bin nearby. She was cleaning a spot on her pelt where another tom had ripped out her fur and nearly slashed her open. However, it didn't get too deep and she could simply clean it without the worry of infection. She'd still keep an eye on it, though. As she was sniffing it, checking for any abnormal signs, she quickly collected the scent of another cat nearby. Terrified of another encounter with an aggressive cat, she hid her body from the newcomer, getting a look at the she-cat under her. She noticed the sharp green eyes, but she didn't feel too scared. Going by the mixed scent, was this cat even a wild cat? "Who are you?" She asked softly, though loud enough for the other cat to hear her.

Hearing the voice spooked the tortoiseshell she-cat, sending shivers throughout her body. She quickly turned nervously around to face whoever was the owner of the voice. She spotted another she-cat and sighed quietly. Forcing to relax a little more she sat down and licked down her fur on her shoulders. "I can ask you the same thing," she murmured back. The former kitty-pet stopped licking just to turned her green orbs onto the stranger once more. "I'm Jynx" she introduced quietly.

((I may throw another cat in to join you guys later, very likely))
With the question, Rascal flinched ever so slightly. His tail flicked quickly. "Yea I've had a few. They..weren't great," he grumbled, ears flattening at the thought. His thoughts flew from his first home where he was loved for a few moons and then soon was being pushed aside constantly, to the next who always yelled and threw things at him, to the one after that locked him in the back room and only fed him a couple of times a week. That was his final set of owners before he found a hole in a screen to escape from once he was fed up. Even though that was a couple of years back, the memories were burned into his mind.
Having never seen the gruff tom this tense, Nell got to her paws and moved closer to Rascal. She said nothing and just leaned against him.

Salem eyed the new she-cat quietly after she spoke, studying her. This cat must have been a kittypet before. Salem can see it on her, like a radiance from her pelt. Salem remembered her old Owners, how they loved her. And then she ran away to be with someone she loved, and they were killed by another streetcat. She assumed that's how life worked, especially when you live along the dark alleys here: there will be fights, and there will be death. You have to fight for survival here. But gods, that didn't mean she didn't miss Damon with all her heart. She loved him. Salem flicked her ears as the she-cat introduced herself. She stood up from the can's lid and jumped down. She was still hestiant in front of the she-cat. "My name is Salem. Do you live around these parts, or just traveling around? I'm assuming you used to be kittypet, coming from your scent."
---
(okay ^^ )
Baby felt horrible about even asking the question. Why would he ask that, when it was clear if the tom didn't want to stay in an Owner's home, there was a reason? Poor Rascal...Baby could only imagine what his previous Owners were like. He'd seen Ownes who'd abused their cat before, when he was younger. It was a neighboring den, with a couple of Owners and a tall older kit. He'd seen the tall older kit come outside with the cat and drag him around, throw the poor tom around. He'd seen misery in that cat's eyes. After a few moons, the neighbors had moved. He didn't see the cat leave with them. Baby had stopped thinking about it, mainly because he was scared of what that entailed. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Baby whispered, his ears pressed against his head in shame. "Whatever happened, I promise not all Owners are like that. I've seen good ones, like mine and Nell's. But I understand why you wouldn't want to live with an Owner now. Again, I apologize." He flicked his eyes away, towards the trees nearby, "Have you ever heard about the stories of cats that live in the forest, that hunt and kill for fun? I used to hear them a lot growing up."

Jynx looked away in embarrassment as the stranger concluded about her past. "Traveling." The hungry she-cat stated, "or...I don't know" the tortoiseshell huffed and looked back at Salem. She then looked back down at her dirty paws, "it's nice to meet you" she shyly meowed. Making a friend here shouldn't be so bad Jynx silently chided.

Feeling support felt..odd. Rascal shook his pelt, accidentally startling Nell. "Sorry," he told her before turning to Baby, "S'not your fault." Nell blinked sympathetically, not really knowing what to say. Thankfully Baby was better in these situations. She looked back to Rascal, glad to see a switch go off with him again. This time his eyes were sharp instead of glazed, ears pricked back up. "You kiddin? Half of what you hear on the streets are about those crazy cats," he replied with a grin. His slender tail swept from one side to the other. "I'd love to meet one and find out if the rumors are true."

Salem gave a small chuckle, taking a sit and began licking one of her paws. She was never good with conversation, she assumed that was from her secluded life as a kittypet. Some kittypets were social. She wasn't. She'd been kept inside for so long, and when she had finally stretched outside her boundaries, everything seemed so new and strange. So, no, she wasn't keen on conversation. But she tried her best in times when she needed it. "You must be hungry, yeah? I was just on my way to get some prey. Want to come with me?" It probably wasn't a good idea to ask a wandering cat to come with her, in case things got ugly quick with another territory cat, but she figured it was easier than letting this cat go and starve somewhere. She also noticed that, once she had gotten outside her comfort zone, she could be very 'big-hearted', as Damon had once put it.
---
Baby was glad the conversation had been able to transfer to something easier to discuss. He didn't want to further agitate Rascal with their talk of Owners. He just chuckled softly and knead the grass underneath him unconsciously. "I've heard they only talk in prophecies and that sometimes they'll come out of their hiding to grant someone access into their clan. You'd probably just get killed." Baby purred, "Though, living among the trees sounds slightly pleasant, if not adventurous."

Talks about getting killed put a shiver through Nell's spine. The she-cat shivered while Rascal just snorted. He really did amaze her sometimes, being so casual yet arrogant. The solid gray tom looked up at the tree in Nell's yard. "Prophecies, those cats have always sounded so pretentious," he said, still seeming excited. He turned to look at Baby and Nell. "I say we go and try to find them."
Nell gasped, glancing from the tom to her home. What if something happened to her and she never came back? Her Twolegs would be so upset. Still, the thought of even just going to the forest did excite her. It was hard for her to make a big decision on her own though, and she soon looked to Baby for guidance.

Baby appeared shocked at first, hearing Rascal so casually mention the option of entering the forest and finding these wild cats. However, he did enjoy the idea of adventure and a sort of escape. He loved his Owner, he really did, and he was sure he'd come back to her and her kit. But...going to explore more of that forest--the same place he'd wanted to explore before when he was attacked by that fox--filled him with excitement, and he held that idea close to him. He'd come back, he was sure of that. But what exactly was out there? What kind of cats would they find?
He noticed Nell eyeing him, possibly to see his reaction or find out what he thought about the idea. "I think we should." He finally said, a smirk covering his white and brown tabby muzzle, "As long as we know we'll come back, it should be fine, right? We shouldn't pick too many fights, though." He chuckled softly, only joking.

Hearing the response of his companion's, Rascal looked back. His tattered ear flicked in embarrassed thought, he did forget that Baby had recently recovered from a forest adventure. "Of course, even with me as a guard we'll be careful and turn tail if things get bad," he declared.
With Baby agreeing, Nell found enough confidence to give a firm nod. "Let's do this then!" she yowled, growing excited. The round cat's whole body quivered as she imagined the world beyond her fence. She fell into place next to Rascal and looked to Baby. She watched as Rascal's yellow eyes glanced warmly at their tabby-and-white friend before he began to head toward the trees. There was no time for her to wonder about it as his long legs carried him away quickly.
"I'll make sure you pets are back in time for dinner," the gray tom assured the others from over his shoulder.
