About - SableClan is a nocturnal clan set in Ancient Greece. They believe in 15 main gods and have many different customs and traditions revolving around these gods. However their main one is Sunura, the queen of the gods. This clan will have normal cat names, though their gods do not. It should also be to note that since this is mythology based, their concept of realism is different than ours and they don’t have to follow the same restrictions a normal clan would have to follow. They may sometimes fight monsters of mythology, require the help of a god, or live through an eternal day, depending on the situation.
Plot - After Hafiza, the goddess of the sun disappears, the world is sent into an enternal day, leaving the clan cats frightened and the gods frenzied and unsure of what to do, however one thing is certain: they must find Hafiza and bring her back to the stars. So the gods choose a group of cats from the clan to journey throughout the wilderness in search of Hafiza, while the rest of the clan must now adjust to living in an eternal day.
Joining form - Name - Rank - short description [@ username]
Rules -
i. Literacy. This is at least a semi-literate Clan. Please, do your best to type at least five lines per cat, per post. And try to keep grammar and spelling mistakes to a minimum. We understand mistakes every once in a while, and low muse does happen. But too many mistakes and one-liners are not accepted.
ii. Mythology. Okay so, this is a clan based around mythology and centered around fictional cat gods, we get it, it’s a little complicated and there’s a lot to read. All we ask is that you read over all that we have on this page and understand how important their gods and mythology are to these cats. They’ll likely go on adventures that involve monsters, they’ll deal with the gods, they’ll do all of these things. It’s supposd to be fun for all those involved, and so all we ask is that you take the time to read over everything so we won’t have to explain everything a thousand times over, alright?
iii. LGBT+. This RP is LGBT+ friendly, which means we accept cats from this community. If you can’t accept that, this is not the RP for you.
iv. Activity. Please, try to be on at least two times a week. Too much work went into this Clan for people to join and then never come back. After a week of no activity, you will receive a warning. After two weeks, your cats will be temporarily deleted to save space. If you know you’ll be gone for a long period time, please let us know so we can place you on excused absence.
v. Harassment. This will not be tolerated at all. In character, issues with others are fine. But keep any OOC drama out of the RP. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
vi. Spam. Please, don’t spam this thread. If you’re calling someone back to your RP, that’s alright, but please don’t do so repeatedly. Bumping is also not preferred, a little inactivity for a few hours is no big deal.
vii. Forum Rules. Forum rules are our rules. Follow them, and follow our rules as well.
viii. Realism. Alright, we realize that this is a mythology based clan, however all the same we ask that you ask us before you do something that might not be considered realistic. But that’s it. No cats with pink or red eyes unless they are albino, and no purple pelts or wings. We want this to be at least mostly realistic.
ix. Joining. Please join with at least one cat of both male and female genders. Feel free to make more than two, but no more than you can handle, please. We’d hate for a cat to be made and then never RP’ed.
x. Plot Cats. Okay so this role play will have cats that are considered more “plot cats” than others. They’ll go on the quest to find Hafiza, and likely interact with the gods at some point. There’s a total of 10-14 spots open here, so hopefully that will be enough to include everyone. However if there isn’t, we will find ways to include you into the plot no matter what, just talk to us about it and we can figure it out, okay?

The Scars of Basi and Kalahari: When hearing tales of the gods Basi and Kalahari, they are always described as wearing terrible scars. Basi carries marks of the past from his waist down whereas his cousin carries his own marks from his shoulders and up. These two gods were not always scarred, no, they were once free from scars and injury. It was on a night when they were together that three demons attacked the two gods. The demons, Akun, Ioness, and Irza, had always been bitter toward the gods for they had not been allowed to live like worshiped gods like their family, but rather, they were treated as demons, spirits looked down upon. So when the chance came, they took their anger out on Basi and Kalahari. The two almost lost their lives but managed to survive, yet now they bare the scars of the attack forever more. As soon as the attack was known among the other gods, Eri, the daughter of Akun and Ioness and granddaughter of Irza, gathered both Bali and Ji. Working together the three of them destroyed the demons. It is said that the soul of a demon cannot be completely destroyed and that, perhaps, one day the three will return, but when that time comes Eri, Bali, and Ji will once again come together to act out their vengeance on the trio of demons.
Sunura and Hafiza: Many moons ago, long before anyone can remember, the world was run by gods. A group of these gods banded together under the protection of Sunura, creating the first ever version of SableClan. These fourteen gods struggled in their harsh environment, fighting off demons, monsters, and even other gods, however they stood united, protecting each other until they were some of the only ones remained. However soon a new threat arose in the form of the god of the son. Something had to be done to protect their clan, and so Sunura stood up and she faced the god of the sun in a tiring and fierce battle until finally, she had won by devouring the sun and plunging the world into eternal night. That was supposed to be the end of it, but it wasn’t. Soon Sunura gave birth to a new goddess of the sun: Hafiza. The gods knew that with a new sun goddess came new threats. It was soon decided amongst the gods that the only way to protect themselves and the mortals, was to eat the sun again, and so Sunura did. However much like before, Hafiza was born again, creating another day. Since then Sunura and Hafiza have been stuck in an endless cycle of eating and rebirth. Every evening, just as the sun begins to slip from view, Sunura begins her feast until the sun is devoured once again, only to be born by morning and grow to adulthood by mid-day, when Sunura must start her feast all over again, forever trapped in the endless cycle of eating and rebirth.
Hesmos’s Stripes: When the gods were young it is believed that Hesmos was a completely black feline. And, believe it or not, but Hesmos was said to be the first god to sire kits among the mortal cats of SableClan even before Ayam or Ji. He had two sons, Tigerpetal and Pigeondance. Being the first god with mortal kits, Hesmos had to go through the heartbreaking pain of watching his sons die, and not only that, but both of his sons were killed in the same night during a bear attack. It is said that in his grief Hesmos entered the realm of mortality in his complete god form, and in a rage he took down the bear with one swift bite to the skull. As the bear fell to his paws it is said that his black fur turned into an incredible and bright orange, the black simply turning into sharp stripes along his pelt. This was said to be the first time SableClan ever encountered fire, and while they were terrified, they were also awe inspired. Hesmos then took the bloodied and torn bodies of his sons and placed them within the fire where their souls were instantly freed from their bodies. Hesmos took their spirits and sent them off to the Land of the Dead. Before Hesmos himself returned to his own realm, he granted the Clan the ability to call on his fire powers whenever a life has been lost, letting them know that, to free the soul from the body, the body must become nonexistent. Ever since then the cats of SableClan have believed whole heartily that, after a cat has passed, their body must be set aflame to free their soul so that Hesmos can then take them to the Land of the Dead.
Unity: Made by Ji and born out of iron, Bali and Basi are the only known twins among the gods and it is that connection that granted them both as a god and goddess of unity, however there was a time when the two were not united. Long ago, back when the gods were still new, Basi fell in love with a creature known as Aerl that was quite unlike that of a cat. This creature was dog like, with an unmistakable laugh, and rumored to be a god of his own. A god to the wild and mangy canines of the wilds. Basi would spend nights running off to be with Aerl in secret, quickly falling in love with him, however Bali caught on to what was happening and confronted her twin. The two of them fought and argued over whether or not it should even be allowed for a god like Basi to be with one like Aerl, however Basi refused to end it. Bali had no choice but to keep it secret. However she wasn’t the only one that caught on and it soon became obvious to the rest of the gods what was going on. Once it was revealed to the others, the gods fought and argued amongst themselves on whether or not a relationship like this should be allowed or not. In the end it was Bali that stood up for her brother, claiming that he had done no wrong, however her voice was drowned out among the others and it was decided that this relationship should not be allowed to continue. Basi was heartbroken, but he could not go against what the other gods had said, and so the relationship came to an end. However there are rumors that Basi never ended his relationship with Aerl and the two continue to meet in secret, ignoring the other gods wishes and are still together to this day.
Ji’s Children: Shrouded in the darkness of the early dusks, the cats of SableClan were not always this capable. They lacked several traits, vital for their protection and safety. This dilemma plagued Ji's mind like an unrelentless fever - how could he sit back and allow the mortal cats he had grown fond of, cats that he and his family had done their best to protect, sit and waste their lives and potential? Thus, the great black cat sat and thought. He stayed this way, not moving, eating, or drinking, for fifteen nights. The more that Ji thought on the matter, the more solid and heavy this idea became, until the goddess Bivum formed, fully grown, as his eldest daughter, with a mind as sharp as a claw and as quick as a rabbit. It was with her guidance that Ji came to the conclusion that he needed two *more* children, symbols of light, love, and enlightenment for the newly formed Clan. He went to his brother, Hesmos, for help with this matter, and together the two great cats forged the divine twins, Basi and Bali, from iron and fire. Basi the elder twin, with his soft, warm flame of love and acceptance, words edged with metal as if intended to tear, and Bali the younger twin, whose soul burned fiercely for the love of adventure, born ready to steel the wills of SableClan cats when it came to discovering the knowledge they needed to grow and thrive as a clan.

Kit Naming Ceremony: Kits aren’t named until a week after they’re born, this is so they can prepare a proper ceremony for them, including a gift to Ayam, which must be a yam that the father and the family of the mother will spend the week searching for, to bring home and offer it to Ayam. Kits will then be named by their mother so long as they appear to have Ayam’s blessing and the clan will celebrate their birth that night.
Apprentice Ceremony: When kits reach the age of six moons, they are assigned a mentor and must pray to Prijala and Bivum for good luck during their training and to learn all that they can in preparation for becoming warriors once their training is complete. It is also customary for the mentors to pray to Bivum for guidance on how to teach their new apprentice and ready them for becoming a warrior.
Warrior Ceremony: Once an apprentice’s training is complete, the leader of the clan must pray to Kalahari and get his blessing before the apprentice may become a warrior, and once it is done, the newly made warrior must offer a gift to Kibble in hopes of living a long life as a warrior. Then they must sit vigil from the first light of dawn to the last light of dusk as proof they are ready to endure everything that is needed of a warrior.
Courtship: If a cat wishes to court another cat, it is customary for them to offer a gift to Basi so that he may help them in their efforts. Then once a couple gets together, they will usually perform a duet together to Basi in hopes of gaining his support of the union. Along with this, most cats will pray to Basi for advice or guidance when it comes to romance in general.
Queens: It is customary that when mates start a family, they will hunt down a creature that might cause harm to their kits and offer it as a gift to Ji. Should he accept the gift, he will guard over the queen as she prepares to have kits, and then continue to protect the family throughout the years.
Adventures: Considering how many times other rituals involve questing outside the clan to find something or another, most cats will offer a gift to Bali in hopes that she might be with them on their journey. The gift can be anything, so long as it comes from the heart.
Vengeance: Though this tradition isn’t practiced quite as often as it was in the past it is still important to the clan cats. It is said that if you wish vengeance on someone or something, you can offer a sacrifice to Eri and she will help you with your task.
Medicine Cat Apprentice Ceremony: Medicine cat apprentices are chosen much more rarely than normal apprentices are. Ylil, the goddess of medicine and dreams will send a message to the current medicine cat when the next one has been born, once the medicine cat has this message they will go to the leader at once and request their chosen apprentice, no matter the age. Once the apprentice is requested, they may begin their training immediately even if they are not yet six moons.
Medicine Cat Ceremony: Once a medicine cat apprentice has completed their training, both apprentice and mentor must travel to the Cave of Souls and stand trial before the gods. The gods will then decide for themselves if the apprentice has finished their training, and if they have, Ylil will step forward and give the apprentice their new name. Once dusk falls, the two medicine cats will travel back home to alert the clan of the change.
Deputy Ceremony: After the previous deputy has died, the leader will appoint three different warriors to the position of deputy, these three cats will then spend a night acting as deputy until their time is up, once three nights have passed, the leader will take their three choices to the Cave of Souls where they will stand guard over the leader as the leader talks with the gods. The gods will urge the leader to pick the deputy they see most fitting, however in the end it is up to the leader to make the final decision. When the leader is done talking to the gods, they will lead the three choices back to the clan where they will then announce the new deputy.
Elders: Once a cat has reached a certain age they will often retire from their duties and become an elder, when this happens they with thank the gods for blessing them as a warrior and a feast will be held in their honor, then they will move to the elders den and advise the clan from there.
Leader Ceremony: After the previous leader has died, the deputy must take the medicine cat and with them on a long journey to the Realm of the Gods, along the way they must face certain trails to prove that they are worthy of becoming the next leader of the clan. Once they have reached the gate to the Realm of the Gods, Nomayatta will give them once last test before they can enter. Only the deputy can enter into the realm, and once they do, they will be judged be the gods, and if the gods decide they are worthy of becoming leader, the eight that connect with the deputy the most will grant them each a life, and as a token of approval, Sunura herself will then grant the deputy their final life and their new name. Once that is done with, the new leader will travel back to the clan and must choose their options for deputy and go through the deputy ceremony as soon as possible.
Death Ceremony: Once a cat dies, those closest to them will mourn during the last few hours of the night while everyone else prepares the fire. Once everything is ready, the clan will burn the body of their clan mate so that their soul will be accepted into The Land of the Dead by Hesmos. Then, before the last stars disappear, Nomayatta will guide the soul of the cat up into the stars so they may enter into The Land of the Dead with Hesmos.
The Longest Night: Once a year the night lasts longer than any others. During this night, the clan holds a night long celebration where they will feast together and offer gifts to all of the gods - excluding Hafiza - and praise Sunura. Elders will tell the story of how Sunura ate the sun many moons ago and now continues to eat the sun at the end of every day so that they may have their glorious night. Other elders will tell stories of other gods and their accomplishments. It is a night of peace, one where it almost feels as if the gods themselves are walking amongst the clan cats to join in on their celebration.
The Full Moon: When the moon is at its fullest the clan will gather together and strengthen the bonds within the clan. They will offer gifts to Floofes and honor him throughout the night, and may even offer other gifts to Bali and Basi, as well as Ji and Sunura. Though it is especially important to honor Floofes during the full moon in hopes of growing closer to their clan mates and earning the approval of the fluffy, odd colored god. It is a time of peace and a time to strengthen the bonds of the clan while also enjoying themselves throughout the night.

History: Formed by the gods, SableClan has existed for many moons. Once strays and rogues that were found by the gods, the cats began to look to their gods for protection and guidance, banding together to form SableClan under the leadership of Nightstar, a young, heroic tom that the gods had grown quite fond of. Together, Nightstar and the gods formed SableClan. Nightstar would lead the cats of SableClan, while the gods protected them from any threats that might befall the clan. However over the moons that passed, the gods spent less time walking among the clan cats, and the cats of SableClan turned their original traditions into something else - though still in honor of the gods - and while the gods still played an important and close role in SableClan, they wandered among the clans less, now only walking amongst them on special occasions, though they still protect and guide SableClan to this day and the clan still looks to them in worship and honor.

The Camp: Nestled close to their ancestors, on top of the hill, lies SableClan's camp. Shrubbery keeps their home hidden, but once you make your way through, the camp is revealed. Closest to the entrance is the warrior's den, comprised of a few thick thorn trees woven together. Parallel to the warrior's den is the apprentice's den, beneath an old, hollowed out fallen tree. The outside of the tree is an ideal place to collect moss for nests. In an old fox den, beneath an ancient olive tree, is the medicine cat's den. Within the medicine cats den, you'll see piles of herbs and berries stored neatly closer to the back. Small dirt holes were dug out in order to store herbs that are being used as well. Now, closer to the back of the camp sits the nursery. The Nursery is protected by thick bramble thickets that protect the queens and kittens from harsh winds, with soft ivy trindles hanging before the entrance to conceal the nests inside. It's typically warm, as the sun reaches this den the best, and helps keeps the kits warm after birth. The elders den is adjacent to the nursery, also being in the back of the camp. The elders sleep under a hollow of a broken tree that had fallen in to the camp moons ago, before the clan settled down. They dug out enough space for a cat to slip in and out. They are protected by the branches, and a small bush that opens up to reveal the hollow underneath it. Last, but certainly not least, would be the relatively medium sized tree that looms within the camp, towards the eastern most part of the camp. The trunk is large, and the bottom is hollowed out where the leader has made their den after many moons. Thick, low branches over hang the camp, and occasionally the leader will address the clan from one, or from the flattened boulder besides the den that was discovered in the dried out riverbed that runs through the camp. The riverbed occasionally fills up with fresh drinking water for the clan, but when it is not, there is a small drinking pool that lies between the elders and warriors den. It is not deep enough to drown in, but it holds enough water for many to drink, and fills up from ground water, or from rain water.
The Cave of Souls: a cave with water pooling into it, this is where the cats of SableClan can communicate with their gods by lapping up the water in the cave and inviting their gods to join them.
The Isles of the Gods: fourteen individual, small islands representing each of the gods, each isle is said to be the mortal homes of the gods, staring near the two pillars with Hafiza’s isle which has long since been destroyed, then go Floofes and on until Prijala’s isle near the mountains.
Sunura’s Isle: the biggest island among them all, it is located in the middle of the water between the other islands and the mainland. Said to be the mortal home of Sunura and home of the gate to the Realm of the Gods.
The Gate to the Realm of the Gods: Located on Sunura’s Isle, the gate appears as a crescent moon pool that you must walk inside of to get to the Realm of the Gods, however the only way to get to the gate is to travel to the heart of Sunura’s Isle and accept a trial from Nomayatta, only if they succeed will they be allowed to go through the gate and enter into the Realm of the Gods.
The Dead Forest: The forest where Kalahari and Basi were attacked, it is tainted by demon blood and because of it the trees are dead. It is said to be haunted and known as a dark place to cats and gods alike.
The Burial Grounds: Sharp rocks surround the burial grounds where the dead are burned so their souls may travel up to the Land of the Dead and be amongst Hesmos. Whenever a cat dies, the clan takes their body to the Burial Grounds to mourn and to burn their body.
The Sun Tree: The place where Hafiza was first born, the sun touched the tree and burnt it, killing the tree and the area around it. It is known as Hafiza’s tree and is mostly avoided by the cats of SableClan.
The Yam Garden: A garden full of yams where the cats will come to pick a yam to offer to Ayam as a gift.
The Vineyard: A grape vineyard located at the very edge of the territory, cats will often come here to pluck the grapes from the tree for paint or offerings to the gods, or perhaps even come to take a walk through the vineyard.
The Two Pillars: Two large rock pillars where the tips nearly meet, made by and representing the two gods of unity: Bali and Basi, it is said that if you go there, the two gods will appear before you. However be warned, nothing within the two pillars is alone. They always come in twos.
Nomayatta’s Pond: A large and clear pond named after Nomayatta for the reflection of the stars shining through in the water. It is said that Nomayatta herself carved the ground and filled it with liquid from the heavens to create the bond and the ever present gleam of the stars without the water depths. It’s a rather beautiful place and a favorite resting location for anyone that wants to relax beside the starry body of water.
Little Falls: Little Falls is, well, little. There's not much to it, but it's a wonderful place for battle training. With the water nearby and the steady drum of the waterfall, the overall ambiance of the place helps relax the body and mind to allow those who are training to concentrate on the task at paw. It is also believed that this is where Kibble spends most of her time when walking the mortal realm. There have been rumors of some witnessing a sleek ruddy pelt darting through the shadows; perhaps some very fortunate soul would get to one day meet the goddess of endurance in this very place.
The Mountains: The mountains of SableClan are known to be dangerous, not many traveling into the rocky terrain unless they are visiting the Cave of Souls. Prey is scarce and danger is everywhere, yet the mountains were thought to have once been non-existent. It is said that Sunura herself created the mountains so that she could reach the sky and challenge the original sun god. Other than the spiritual connection that the Clan has with the mountains, most tend to stay far away from the area.
The Three Ponds: The Three Ponds are relatively close to the Dead Forest. In fact, they are the only "living" thing near both the Burial Ground and the Dead Forest. After the attack on Kalahari and Basi, most, if not all, of the deities were shaken about it. Some responded in anger, some in feigned indifference, and some in sadness. Floofes was one of those to respond in sorrow, and it is believed that his tears created the Three Ponds, giving life to where there is death. Now small fish can be caught here along with songbirds and other small creatures attracted to the water. Compared to all the nearby decay, the Three Ponds are overall a place of peace and beauty.

The 10 beliefs of Sableclan are as followed.
Night can only come when Sunura eats the sun. With every passing day the Goddess chases the sun across the sky and when she finally catches it she swallows it whole, leaving the world in the peaceful darkness of night.
A common belief among the clan is that Basi sometimes “gets in the way”, or rather, does something rather stupid that messes something or another up and then will come down to walk among the clan cats to fix his mistake. Due to this it is common to both blame Basi when something has gone wrong, and to ask him for help when it’s you that’s messed something up.
It is believed of the clan cats that if any of them so desires luck in any particular problem they might be having, they can search for sea shells on the beach and lay the sea shells out in intricate designs for Prijala and she will bless them with luck with whatever problem they may be facing.
It is a common belief that to change the seasons they must leave out a piece of pray for their gods so that when they change the season into the next, the cats will be gifted with a good season. Commonly, fish is left out at the end of Leafbare, squirrels at the end of Newleaf, mice at the end of Greenleaf, and rabbits at the end of Leaffall for an easy Leafbare. They believe that leaving food out for the gods will help them through each season and bring on the next, with the prey signaling the end of each season.
Along with the tradition of the full moon, it is customary for all single warriors to eat mushrooms under the watch of the full moon and by doing so, the gods will bless them with good luck and prosperity in relationships. However this is only done every other moon as to not take away from the other traditions that the full moon has.
A common belief among the medicine cats is if they require help or assistance when sickness breaks out of tragedy falls down upon the clan, they can lay lilies outside their den at dawn and Ylil will take them during the day, leaving behind anything they might need, or healing those in need by dusk.
The cats of SableClan also believe that during a drought, if they chew mint and leave some out for the gods, the gods will make it rain and bring back the waters that had been taken away from them.
It is believed that Nomayatta, the goddess of the stars created incredible and beautiful images in the night sky with the stars. Images that you can find simply by looking up at the night sky, it is said to be believed that every image you find has a story to tell and if you ever accomplish a great heroic deed in your life, Nomayatta might use those stars to create an image of you among all of the heroes of old.
A belief among the cats of the clan is that back when the clan was new, Ji knew they would need protection, and lots of it. So he created Bivum out of thought and then Basi and Bali our of iron to protect the clan throughout the ages. Some of the cats still believe to this day that the iron he used to create the twins is somewhere on the island and if they can find it, they will be given the powers of a god.
It is another belief amongst the cats of SableClan that when there is a particular fierce storm, it is Eri fighting the demons of old again. With the thunder representing their ferocious howls, lighting representing their claws gnashing together as they fought, and the rain representing the blood that spilled during the great fight and once the storm has passed, Eri stands victorious, fighting the demons off until the next storm.
