Iris ❝ Rainbows always stand for hope ❞ ─ goddess of rainbows ─ Iris hoped this young girl was a morning person. What had started as a nice, peaceful, and quiet morning for the children of Athena changed as brilliant multicolored light filled the room. The light spread throughout the entirety of Cabin 6, brighter than the daylight outside but somehow not becoming overwhelming for the children to see. Within the dancing bright colors the form of a beautiful woman took form, a long gown covering her frame. Multicolored eyes scanned the bunks slowly until they finally rested on the form of a young girl.
She was the second youngest of the demigods that were going to participate in this quest, but honestly looked younger, and Iris almost felt concerned for her. She was a daughter of Athena, however; Iris knew that there was more than met the eye about the girl, even compared to her other cabinmates, or else she would not have been a part of the prophecy. Iris wouldn't be about to give her her quest otherwise.
"Morgan Kaizumi, you have been chosen for a quest."

Once Crystal was buckled into the passenger seat, she had her arm propped up on the door with her chin in her palm. She was glad they were getting a ride, but she was already regretting it. She wanted to just fall asleep in the seat and just let things happen. Her eyes scanned the area constantly, never wanting to be in a position to be surprised. She was so focused on not falling asleep and keeping watch, she had barely been paying attention to the conversation the other two were having. She'd heard something about her being a model warrior, to which she grunted in reply. She used to be proud of that, puffing out her chest and grinning when people fawned over her and her fighting prowess. Now she simply continued whatever she was doing at the time, barely even glancing at them. She honestly wished she wasn't such an example, because in her mind all she would inspire is kids throwing themselves into fights too big for them and getting themselves killed. Not exactly something to be proud of. Though she didn't want to admit to everyone how exhausted she was, and how much she hated it now. She didn't want to kill the image of the stone-cold badass that she was in their eyes. That would probably be equally as cruel.
She was finally shaken from her musings when she noticed the two of them staring at her. She quickly replayed what she'd heared back in her mind, which took a couple of awkward seconds, before nodding her head. "It's a pretty big deal. It was supposed to stay between me and the praetors, but my guess is someone was listening too hard. Small details were going through the camp before I even started packing." She gave Bes a look, but continued. "They're gathering up a team from three demigod camps to take on this quest. They're even going to be breaking the Rule of Three apparently, but the fourth member is a mystery. So who knows if we'll even still be three when we find this person." She sighed a bit and turned to look back out the window. "I shouldn't tell you anymore. Though I'm sure you'll hear about the whole thing when you get back."
Morgan wished she wasn't a genius sometimes. Even among her half-siblings she felt smart. Not in a bad way, just a different way. They were all about tactics and military strategy. Her? She was stuck with being a tech whiz in a non-tech world. She wanted to get old enough for the real world to take her seriously so she could get a big job somewhere and really make a difference. She couldn't really do that here. Even after she'd worked with the Hephaestus and Hecate cabins to make the first piece of magic technology (or magi-tech as she was hoping to call it), she was still a bit of an outsider. At least she could use her magi-tech to keep working. It was a router that pulled in signals through the magical barrier around the camp so she could still connect to things on her laptop, even in camp. It helped with school that was for sure. It also worked outside of camp, masking her presence from monsters so they thought she was just another human on a laptop. Hard to be a tech whiz when monsters were attracted to that kind of thing. Still, things could have been worse. She was well on her way to getting her masters, and once she was done she could really get to work.
She probably shouldn't have stayed up all night though. She'd been coding all through the night on her next project, something huge. Something that could really change things. Maybe even help out the camp somehow. She'd gotten so into it that she hadn't even noticed the moon rise and fall, morning sun now filtering into the Athena cabin. She had her earbuds in listening to some k-pop, fingers flying across the keyboard, with her siblings mostly ignoring her. No one could pull her out of her trance. Not even the light filling the cabin.
Morgan jumped almost a foot in the air and fumbled to catch her laptop as the voice broke through her music like the person had spoken directly into her mind. She managed to pause her music and pop her earbuds out before she broke something, then set it all aside on her bed to keep from risking it further. Once she calmed herself enough, she looked up at the goddess that was standing in the middle of the cabin. "Um...sorry...c-could you repeat that?"

Anatoly Blayke ❝ A hero can go anywhere, challenge anyone, as long as he has the nerve. ❞ ─ son of phanes ─ It didn't take long for Anatoly to make it back to his cabin and get the rest of the things he'd need on his quest packed. Really the only concerns he had were passing on his camp duties to someone else - and admittedly, he had a lot of those, so it would take a hot second - and getting someone to watch Brace.
He found a couple different people to pass his usual chores onto. He'd become something of a helper to most of the campers here, and it had kind of become his position. Once EJ came back he figured his close friend would help, or at least guide others on how things should be done, but EJ wouldn't be here for a few days, either. So, after passing instructions on to some Oceanid titan children, he searched for a caretaker for Brace.
No-one wanted to look after a giant anaconda. Who would have thought.
He finally got his cabinmates to do it. They didn't like it, but had dealt with Brace long enough to know what to do, and with Anatoly going to be gone for who knew how long, they didn't want to let their cabin leader down.
And finally, within fifteen minutes, Anatoly found himself next to EJ. "Ready, partner?"

Besnik "Bes" Tadd ❝ What's so remarkable about love at first sight? It's when people have been looking at each other for years that it becomes remarkable. ❞ ─ son of cupid ─ Kaimana blinked as she listened to the esteemed soldier beside her, nodding to herself as she took this in. All Crystal really said was that there were four demigods that were going to be on this mission, but she didn't exactly explain what it was for. She did let slip one thing, though, that stood out to her. "Three demigod camps?" he mused, eyebrow quirking as she looked out at the road. "So there's more than just Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood?"
Bes nodded. "Weird, huh? Why would there be a third camp?"
Kaimana squinted as a thought seemed to occur to her. "Unless they mean Hotel Valhalla? Or one of the Egyptian Nomes? They aren't 'camps' though..."
Bes squinted from the back seat. Nomes? Valhalla? "Wait, what are you talking about? Isn't Valhalla a Norse place?"
Kaimana blinked and glanced back at him for a brief second before returning her gaze to the road, ever the diligent and responsible driver. "It is. Hotel Valhalla is where the children of the Norse gods train and stay. The Nomes are... they vary. Basically areas where magicians studying the Egyptian gods live and train-"
"Wait just a second. The Norse and Egyptian gods are real?" Bes gaped, jaw dropped and lips parted in a way that emphasized his shock. "And they have demigod children too? Why isn't this public knowledge? How-?"
Kaimana held up a hand to hint for him to go quiet. Her expression hadn't changed much, but had shifted ever so slightly in a way that Bes felt like she was already regretting spilling the beans about this. "The different pantheons try to avoid each other. They don't want to trample on each other's business, and when they do mix, things can get really confusing. I mean, it was chaotic enough when Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter found out about each other, y'know?" She slowed to take a turn, eyes scanning the tree-line for monsters that might be ready to pounce. Nope, none so far. "As for demigod children... the Norse gods do have demigod kids, but the Egyptian gods don't."
Bes nodded slowly. He was still in a slight bit of shock but he was recovering quickly from it. "Does that mean the other Pantheons exist?"
"Pretty much, to different capacities." Kaimana smiled a little. "The Aztecs, Yoruba, Hindu, Mayan, you name it."
"And how did you find out about them?"
Kaimana shook her head. "It's a really long story," she mused in a tone that left little room for questions. "In short, let's just say I have friends from both. Met them when we all thought we were human. Enough about that, though." Kaimana's eyes focused again as she went back into thought. "The thing is, neither Pantheon really have 'camps,' and usually the gods don't send demigods on quests that will have them actively interact with those from other Pantheons. It would ruin the secrecy of it all. It's not impossible, just really unlikely."
"...so what you're saying is... you think it has to do with the Greek and Roman pantheons?"
"Right."

Iris ❝ Rainbows always stand for hope ❞ ─ goddess of rainbows ─ The woman waited patiently as Morgan scrambled to take her earbuds out once she finally noticed her, a soft smile growing across her face. Technology wasn't often allowed in Camp Half-Blood... or rather, it hadn't been the last time she had looked into it, the year of which she admittedly wasn't sure of. The fact that this girl had one, and was openly using it without fear of getting caught, showed that she was some kind of exception. She was taken out of her thoughts at last when the demigod asked her to repeat her words. "Morgan Kaizumi, dear, you have been chosen for a quest."
The goddess frowned and looked over her shoulder. It was clear that wherever she really was, someone was talking to her. "I... yes, I am fully aware. I will speak to him as soon as I am done delivering this very important message. She turned back to Morgan then, smile somewhat sheepish for a split second before it vanished entirely, her expression turning serious. "Listen, young one. This quest is of the upmost importance. Listen well to this prophecy." Her eyes closed, but when they opened once more, they were no longer rainbow-colored; they were beams of light.
Four seek out a dance stained red, A golden demon that fills us with dread. To find the child that has lurked in a dark flower so long, The performance for Mount Olympus will have only just begun. Four of which are to make this journey far. Three of which will return home without a scar. For there will be plenty of monsters to fight. But the only one that should be feared, is one of golden light. A sharp-minded youth will travel far from home. A daughter of the King will be found in New Rome. Lastly a son of a winged first being will make two become three, For they will be collecting one more who can only half see. Find the director of this fearful show, If these four cannot, between three camps blood will flow.
Iris's eyes flashed with a brighter light, and then turned back to normal. For a moment she said nothing, just scanned Morgan's face for her reaction. She didn't look like the quest-ready-and-willing type of demigod, so she figured this wouldn't go across very well. Iris also couldn't shake the fact that she looked so little... she truly hoped Athena wouldn't lose one of her children because of this quest. "To meet the demigods from the other two camps, you must go to Robbers Cave State Park in Wilburton, Oklahoma. You will be meeting by Lake Carlton near the falls. You should pack accordingly for a very long and taxing journey."
She stopped. Would the girl make it on her own to the lake? Had she ever gone on a quest before, especially alone? She was clever, but that wouldn't solve every problem that came her way. "You may ask others to come with you on your way to the lake, but once there, the other two demigods will be your only companions on your way to find the fourth."
There was a distorted noise and Iris frowned, eyes glaring daggers over her shoulder at something. "I must get back to work. If you have any questions, you should ask dear Chiron. I wish you luck, Morgan. We're all depending on you."
And with that the light vanished, and her presence left the cabin.
"...other two camps?" After several seconds of complete silence, a small boy in the corner of the room spoke up. Brown eyes wide, he murmured, "I thought the only other camp was Camp Jupiter."
An older lady, around eighteen, frowned from where she had been discussing graphs with another daughter of Athena. "That's what we were told."
"Do you think Chiron and the gods were keeping this a secret from us?"
The girl's eyes narrowed. She didn't like the thought of there being even more secrets kept from them by Chrion and their godly parents and ancestors, especially with the disappearances and murders going on at both camps. In a time like this, Chiron and Lupa certainly would have told them about a possible third camp, right? "If they know, they may have sworn on the Styx to never tell."
"They swore on the Styx to never spill the beans about each other, either, but they did eventually," another boy pointed out, wiping at his glasses, eyes squinted shut. Apparently the beams of light had nailed him right in the eyes. "Whenever there was a threat of war and murder. Something the gods were even afraid of. You heard what Iris said; 'We're all depending on you.' This seems like something the gods are concerned about. So..."
"You're thinking that if Chiron and Lupa knew anything, they would have told us. Solid logic."
"So there is a third camp that no-one, not even the gods, knew about..." The little boy frowned and looked at his hands. "And this... guy in a dark flower? Who is he? Shouldn't we try to figure this out-"
"No. Unfortunately, Morgan has to go immediately, like Iris said." The oldest girl frowned and pushed herself to her feet, focusing on Morgan now. She hadn't said anything to the newly chosen quester, wanting to let the girl gather her thoughts and composure, but now it was showtime. "Morgan, I'll help you with packing, if you want. You can talk to Chiron and I'll gather some equipment? Ambrosia and nectar?"
This girl, Ibis, was intelligent for sure, but she wasn't on the level that Morgan was, despite her superior age. While she aced most of her tests and assignments in school, the skills she had inherited from her mother leaned more towards battle tactic and strategy. She hadn't ever been able to help Morgan before, because Morgan had never needed her; she rarely fought, and she was fine in academics. This would be the only time Ibis would be able to help her little sister, and she refused to let Morgan go anywhere without being prepared. "Anything you need, you say the word."

Crystal didn't really react when Kaimana mentioned the Norse and Egyptian places. She simply shrugged. "I doubted they would be talking about them, or one of the other pantheons. This seems important, but not that important." The only reason she even knew about the others was because she'd run into them on her many quests. It was hard not to sometimes. Heck, she was pretty sure they'd come into contact many times before, but the mist had gone into overdrive to keep them from asking questions. She happened to see through it because monsters are harder to hide when they're fighting. That Frost Giant had been a difficult fight. When she'd gotten back to camp she'd asked Lupa to tell her the truth, and since the secret was out for her, there was no point trying to hide it anymore. She'd sworn not to say anything, but since Kaimana had spilled the beans, there was no point anymore.
She glanced back at Bes. "You have to swear not to tell anyone about this. Lupa would kill me." Her eyes fell on Kaimana for a moment, before returning out the window. "The less people that know about the other pantheons the better. We really don't need to mix, even if it seems like it would help." She'd had the argument with Lupa before. She'd thought it would be smarter to let all the pantheons mix, so they could help each other out. However, Lupa had told her the enemies would have the same idea. The different pantheons didn't get along, so the amalgamation of enemies would be overwhelming and devastating. That had shut her down right quick, because she hadn't thought of that. Still though, learning from the other pantheons would be helpful. Sharing the fighting styles would be really advantageous. "I can't think of what this third camp would be, especially since our parents don't even know about it. Or if they do, they refuse to speak of it."
Morgan had to take a couple moments to pick her jaw off the floor. She couldn't understand. Why in the world had she been chosen for this? She'd never gone on a quest before! Hell, she didn't even have much combat training! She had her brain and that was about it. The gods must have lost it to think sending her would be a good idea. She was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't even hear her siblings talking about what they'd heard. It took Ibis talking to her directly to break her from the trance she'd been stuck in. "O-Oh...um...w-well..." She'd never been on a quest before, never even thought of going on one. She didn't know what she needed. Luckily the weapons she'd walked the Hephaestus cabin through making were done. They were wrapped in cloth under her bed. She'd trained with them a couple times, but she'd always been more focused on her college work.
She shook her head and got up, pulling a bag from under her bed and packing away her laptop and everything that went with it, before pulling the wrapped bundle out and setting it on her bed. "I...Can you please, Ibis? I-I would appreciate it..." She bit her lip, then glanced back at the rest of her cabin, adjusting the glasses on the edge of her nose. She was so screwed. "I'll go meet with Chiron." She nervously headed out of the cabin, one hand crossed over her chest to grip her other arm. She really hoped there was some kind of mistake, but getting visited by a goddess directly made her highly doubt that.
She left the cabin and began the slow walk through camp and up towards the Big House. She'd only been here once, when she first arrived at the camp. She'd never had a reason to come back up here. When she reached the door she raised the hand that wasn't gripping her arm to knock, but hesitated. She honestly didn't want to hear Chiron confirm what she was dreading. She didn't want to go on a quest. She wanted to finish college and become the person she knew she could be. She definitely didn't think she could be a hero. She sighed heavily and knocked lightly on the door, waiting for someone to either invite her in or open said door.

Besnik "Bes" Tadd ❝ What's so remarkable about love at first sight? It's when people have been looking at each other for years that it becomes remarkable. ❞ ─ son of cupid ─ "Do you really think the gods and goddesses would keep something this important from us?" The corners of Bes's lips turned down into a frown. Sure, they weren't exactly willing participants in their children's lives, but it sounded like there was something much more important going on here than just a few kids growing up without their godly parents. "Or, rather, Crystal, and the other participating demigods?"
"You've got me, Besnik." Kaimana shrugged, her brown hair tumbling further down her shoulders as she spoke. "Like Crystal said, they might not know. The gods can't see everything that goes on unless they actively look for it. And if they do know... maybe they don't know every detail completely, and, well, having incomplete knowledge isn't always a good thing. Best for the questing demigods to learn something bit by bit rather than be given information that sways their actions negatively."
Bes bit the inside of his cheek as he glanced out the window. "...right." He closed his eyes. For a moment, the truck remained silent. He knew Kaimana was waiting for him to say something else, and after a second, he obliged. "So all we know is that it is a demigod from an entirely different camp. But I noticed that... the gods, Chiron, Lupa... they all knew that each of our camps existed, even that other pantheons existed, but hid it from their campers. That must mean that this new camp is new, or that it doesn't want the gods to know."
"Yes, that was clear," Kaimana mused.
Bes squinted. "So, what I guess I'm getting at here, is... if they are really demigods, then they can't be the kids of the gods. I mean, I know we're hard to keep track of..." Well, hard for the uncaring gods to bother checking up on, anyway. "...but they'd notice if a bunch of their kids were in a third camp, right? So our parents and stuff truly might not know about the third camp, but the other deities..."
Kaimana blinked slowly. "...you... have a point there."

Chiron ❝ A hero can go anywhere, challenge anyone, as long as he has the nerve. ❞ ─ trainer of heroes, son of kronos ─ Ibis had nodded and darted off to get Morgan the materials that she would need.
Almost immediately the camp director opened the door of the Big House, his usually intense brown eyes softened and concerned as he took in his visitor. "Hello, Morgan, dear. I just received news that Iris delivered you a quest?" He carefully trotted out of the house, closing the door behind him with a soft click. "This will be your first quest if I recall. It'll be strenuous, but the gods wouldn't have chosen you if they didn't know whether or not you could handle it." He gave her a tiny smile, but his eyes dimmed slightly.
"I've gotten word from Camp Jupiter that they are sending their best warrior, a daughter of Jupiter named Crystal, so you will be in good company. This other demigod..." He looked into the distance, brow furrowing. "I wasn't aware there was a third camp. 'A winged first'... there are many gods often depicted with wings, but the 'first' is a better hint. Though I don't want to speculate..." He sighed and offered Morgan his arm. "Walk with me, dear? Talk? Maybe it'll help you calm down before your departure."
