TimberClan's history begins generations upon generations ago. Back, long before TimberClan began, a strict clan known as TwilightClan ruled the valley. Back in those times it was divided into two groups; the night watch and the day guard. The night watch were made up of darker furred cats, with extremely keen eyes and ears. They were mostly nocturnal and woke as the others slept, going out on tehir patrols when the moon shone. The day guard was the opposite; brighter colored warriors, with a few darker tabbies in the mix. They were strong and watchful, with a good sense of smell and direction. They hunted and thrived in the day while their nocturnal clanmates slept.
It was a very formal clan. Night and day cats rarely interacted, besides at the "in between times" - the few meager hours between the changes of shift when news and gossip was passed around. They were extremely organized! Every cat had a specific job, and rumor has it, were even assigned future mates, usually by their parents, to ensure a good lineage and strong warriors for the clan!
There were as with all clans the occasional problems, but the ultimate downfall of TwilightClan was what a warrior named Fleetfoot started. As the legends tell, he was betrothed to Ferntail when he was in love with Gingerstep. He was able to have his way and the betrothal was broken off, but he continued to challenge the system. Being a night warrior he eventually was frequently up at day, and he would start small arguments and challenge leader's authority- the leader who so happened to always, for the past few generations, but a day cat. He questioned their ways, saying the night and day system was impractical. He disliked the rigidity between both the night watch and the day guard. He even thought there were favoritism for the day warriors among the ranks, as in the past few generations, TwilightClan was led by a day warrior. This last bit of rebellion is what did it; the night watch was insulted! A civil war brewed among the clan, and in only a few moons, the night cats and the day cats separated into two different clans; SunClan and MoonClan. SunClan was led by the old leader, Quietstar, while MoonClan was led by Fleetfoot, now Fleetstar. These two clans would not last long. Fleetstar lost his lives rapidly, and MoonClan dwindled in numbers. No heir was chosen and they gradually fell. SunClan fared no better; they had family and loves ones still among the rebellious MoonClan, and some had regrets, while almost all felt as if they were too weak, separate, to survive any longer. During those moons they lost many cats fighting tehir former clanmates, and now they were hardly a clan.
Finally, the elderly Quietstar died, and SunClan fell to ruin. The clan discussed what to do with so few cats. Many simply left to become drifters; kittypets, loners, rogues some became- but one family, who had previously been torn and two by the war, found themselves still dreaming of returning to clan life.
Enter, Timberstrike! He was a cat in his prime, and very strong; a formidable opponent to even younger cats. He had been a night watch cat for many moons, and had supported MoonClan's plans to disband after Fleetstar died. He had returned to his elder brother's family in SunClan, where they made amends- but, as Quietstar had been this brother, he quickly died, weak from battle and illness. As cats left to become loners and find new fortunes, Timberstrike remained, with him, his mate, sons, daughter, and his mother, his brother's mate, and his brother's children. Also with them stayed some of his brother's mate's family, and a handful of young apprentices who were fearful of moving on by themselves into the world.
Timberstrike cared for these cats. They hunted, trained and fought together through a long, lonely winter after SunClan disbanded. And Timberstrike wanted a better future for these final members of his kin, and resentment towards the cats who had left and become rogues. So he began to recruit strangers, mainly young cats who wanted to learn how to fight and hunt. He told them of clan life and so founded TimberClan, and gaining his 9 lives once he felt they had enough cats.
He was happier now, but not content. He wanted revenge on the cats who had given up, and not returned by the time he founded TimberClan. Following his leadership he aimed to recapture every piece of the large valley from these traitorous rogues, and chase out any kittypets who dared venture from their dens. It took many moons of fighting, and by the time of a cat called Tomas's arrival, there was chaos and constant war.
Now enters Tomas, a kittypet with dreams of the stars. He has, in his journeys to find "the land of pines" from his dreams, gathered many followers. They arrive to Timberstar's reign in the valley, with cats constantly fighting among themselves. Tomas knows this place is the place StarClan led him to, and tries to settle there was his friends, but Timberdstar will not relent to give him land. Tomas and his followers are forced to fight; in the end, TimberClan claimed the west of the valley, and Tomas's followers- who became PineClan- had the east. Tomas became Pinestar, and order was restored to the valley. Loners, kittypets and rogues were asked to respect boundaries to end the bloodshed. They agreed, tired of the fighting. Still, many families who were settled in the forest were forced to leave and live in twolegplace, outside clan territory, or in the smaller patches of greenery just outside the clans. So it remained for moons; but TimberClan always dreamed of one day owning the whole valley again, while, in twolegplace and what forest was left to the outsiders, a few families wished that someday, some of the forest would be theirs.

Seasons passed, and soon, years of leaders, of generations after the original cats, followed. One of Timberstar's descendants always ruled TimberClan, while in PineClan they had their own, slightly different system. Fights would happen, but nothing drastic. They even had peaceful gatherings. yet TimberClan still wanted more territory.
A day would come when a war, started by Adderstar of TimberClan, would begin to reclaim the valley. Darkstar, the leader before Adderstar, thought it would be wise to ally themselves to the outsider cats. They would hold meetings with the loners, rogues and kittypets of all the neighboring twolegplaces, telling them that once, TimberClan shared territory with them, and that PineClan forced oppression on all, creating boundaries and limits, and chasing their forefathers out of land rightfully theirs.
In return for any aid they gave TimberClan, the outsiders would receive medical treatment, herbs, prey, materials, and permission to occasionally train with TimberClan, or hunt on their land. This they started behind PineClans' backs, but it didn't reach a height until Darkstar died, and Adderstar took position as leader. He proposed a better, more organized approach. He trained some loners, rogues and kittypets as "leaders" and "representatives", entrusting them to teach others about the cause, and ensure TimberClan regulations were followed upon entering the clan territories. While not all corrupt, many took these new powers as administrators very seriously, eventually training cats as mini-armies under them.
These allies did not have to leave the comfort of their twoleg homes, or wondering the streets, or overall, the idea of freedom without regulation, but the clan laws and ways interested them, and the idea that the vast forest had been taken by PineClan by force helped all the more, convincing them they needed to be chased out.
What seemed like innocent relations at first in Darkstar's time, became a full fledged, miniature government by Sunstar's rise. And soon they, TimberClan and the allies, acted, and started war with PineClan. In the end, PineClan was chased out. TimberClan rejoiced, for the valley was theirs! However, they kept their contract with the allies; allies were allowed onto TimberClan land so long as they followed their rules when on it. So TimberClan now hoped for peace, if it wasn't for the rebellion brewing among the twolegplace cats...
