{ should we skippy?? :0 *reposted bc i forgot the profile xDD }
"Lady Reyna, I believe you must enlighten this room about the capabilities of a woman."
Rasmus arched an eyebrow at the comment – a bit taken aback by the King’s blatant disregard for his plea. His father clearly looked annoyed by it too, staring down the younger man with a look cold as ice. But neither of them said anything, there wasn’t any point and it would be rude to Lady Reyna, besides. Still, he sincerely doubted anything she could say or do would change his mind about the task at hand. This was war they were talking about. It was hard and simple truth that a lady had no place in it.
The Axelsson’s turned their gazes expectantly on the woman in question, waiting for whatever it was that would apparently make a difference. The first thing Rasmus noticed was the room growing cold, cold enough that when he let out a breath it came out in a cloud. Then, much more shocking, were the particles of ice that formed above Lady Reyna’s outstretched hand. His eyes widened and he noticed the vaguely smug look her eyes were giving him. He didn’t look at her for long however, watching with held breathe as she threw – without touching – the ice shards toward a statue, where it shattered into pieces.
This was…magic, then? Rasmus was aware that people possessed magic in this world, his own sister had a knack for controlling flames, but he didn’t think House Omdahl’s very own Lady Reyna would have any sort of magical talent...and of course, he wouldn’t have been. Only King Lucius would’ve known… That explained it then. Why she of all people was summoned here in a room otherwise full of important men.
There was dead silence in the room, until Brasinius broke it, bragging about his niece. Thorvald Axelsson returned the glare and let out a harrumph.
“So the lady is more than a pretty face...impressive.” he conceded. “I suppose she’d be useful, then. Just not as useful as my boy – don’t forget this is still a war, and it’s experience that will truly matter.” He said all this while staring straight at Brasinius.
Rasmus said nothing to that, unwilling to jump into the rivalry sparking between the other men (as much as he agreed with his father). His brows were furrowed in thought. If ice was truly the dragon’s weakness as His Majesty said, then there wasn’t any doubt that Reyna would be useful…but attacking a statue with her ice magic was one thing – would she be able to handle a moving target? Multiple enemies? A giant, flying dragon..?
He didn’t speak until Lady Reyna did, and he quickly followed suit, though in a much less mocking tone. “As do I, Your Grace.” He refused to look at the woman any further – she was clearly baiting him now and he wasn’t going to let himself get riled in front of everyone here. He ignored her in favor of listening to the King.
So, they were to leave tomorrow morning, then? Rasmus had no qualms about that, though it left only the smallest amount of time for preparation. King Lucius claimed to have that handled at least. He tightly grasped the scroll of paper as it was placed in his hand – a curious thing that would take them to instantly back to the castle. As light as it was, he suddenly felt as if a heavy weight had been placed in his hands. He was to travel to who knows who far, face who knows what, subdue a dragon...and, as much as she might not think so, protect Lady Reyna. He wasn't going to be responsible for the spilling of Omdahl blood - he was not.
“…Thank you, Your Grace. I won’t fail you.”

(I'm so sorry for forgetting about this!)
Reyna had a sleepless night. Knowing that she was going to embark on a quest that likely entailed great risk didn't help in her trying to find a peaceful rest. Her uncle hadn't been much help, scheming feverishly and conspiring. Her twin merely kept silent. She had hoped he would be able to give her some kind of advice. Anything to reassure her... Nothing. Just silence. she didn't dare breathe a word to her little sister. She couldn't bear the thought of disclosing such information to impressionable ears. It was so lovely to know her own family had her best interests at heart.
At the crack of dawn, she had forced herself to wake up and prepare herself. For once, she was glad to be in more simpler riding clothes. If she was to embark on this, she knew that a noble lady was an easy target, even if she would be accompanied by another noble.
Oh right.
She had nearly forgotten about her companion, Lord Rasmus. Her lips tightened while she was starting to fasten buttons along her tunic. He would consider her a burden. That much was apparent. He had every reason to be wary of her lack of experience in the elements. All her life she had been presented as a lady, simple as that. Uncle had taught her how to hone and perfect her powers under her parents' noses. Part of her was relieved that her mother didn't know this side of her. Oh she would have been rolling in her grave.
With an apple in hand, Reyna walked down towards the family stables, hoping to tack her black mare up on her own. She needed the practice if this journey was going to take weeks or months. At least her own steed cooperated enough with her. She sighed in relief, glad her reins and saddle were secure. So she went about adding supply bags to the saddle. Once she felt satisfied, she stepped back to admire her handiwork, hands on her hips.
"Already set on going?" A quiet voice interrupted her thoughts.
Reyna nearly jumped out of her skin as she turned around to see Desmond watching her. "Must you sneak up on me?" she winced while crossing her arms over her chest. "I was just packing." she said quickly while pushing back her loose hair.
Desmond rolled his eyes a little bit before double checking her work. "I bet Uncle that you wouldn't pack tent materials or a cloak." he pouted a little, "Guess I owe him twenty silvers." he grumbled a little more before stepping away. "House Axelsson should be here soon." he noted. After all, their lands were closest towards the mountains.
"Alright, thanks for letting me know." she smiled a little, starting to guide her mare towards the pasture exit. That was when she made her way inside her castle home to wait in the main hall for the men to come in. Of course she was anxious. It wasn't long for Brasinius to enter and start fussing over her state. Wonderful.
