I have to be honest, I was a little disappointed in this book, because Red Moon Rising was so good, I had very high expectations. I wish the part of Storm being a Lone-Dog was a bit more interesting, all it seemed to be was her hunting and getting into fights. The whole Wolves and Longpaw things seemed just like filler to get to the end faster. (Though I have to admit, this book made me think Whine was totally awesome. Just imagining this slightly evil fat pug sounds cute.) And everything up until she finds Arrow and Bella is kinda boring, but after that its pretty good. This isn't really an issue, but it also said on the blurb she "Must fight through longpaw dangers and Leashed Dogs". I was looking forward to seeing these Leashed Dogs, but they were just ordinary, and the "longpaw dangers" were just them putting her in a crate. I mean, come on! I wanted to see this! But whatever.
I thought the ending with Breeze was awesome, especially after re-reading it. Breeze was perfect for the murderer, just they way she acts is creepy, acting like its all normal murdering dogs. The next book is going to be interesting, especially since Arrow and Bella are probably going to show up into the pack because they told Storm that they'd come after her if she didn't come back within ten journeys of the Sun-Dog.
Scramble and Nip are such great characters, and the whole thing they have thinking Tufty is alive is really adorable. (In my opinion that is, its probably supposed to be sort of creepy but all I can think is. "AWWWW.") And I loved what Storm thought before she left them, and they told her to say goodbye to Tufty. "I love these pups, but sometimes they can be a bit... creepy" IT JUST SOUNDS CUTE. Okay. I probably seem really weird. But anything with fluffy little puppies is cute to me.
The book was pretty good, but I just wish some parts didn't seem that much of filler. The Leashed Dogs/Longpaw thing added nothing to the plot. But over all, it was a good book.
