Welcome to Mothsnap's Writers Den!
This is a place for Warriors fanfiction writers of all sorts to give and get advice about their stories and OCs or just talk about their projects. Whether you are a seasoned writer or just getting started, everyone is welcome here as long as politeness is exercised. If you post your work here though, expect to be critiqued. Please don't get sore. Other than that I hope you have an enjoyable time here!
About Me
I guess as a starter, I'll introduce myself first. I've been writing Warriors fanfiction for a little over a year, but I've been writing as a hobby for about 3-4 years in all. My favorite canon character is Tigerstar and my favorite OC of mine is Redclaw who is one of the protagonists of my in progress novel series "Forest of Mist" which you can read HERE.
My goal for the series is to correct all the problems I personally have with the warriors universe. Too many forbidden romances, not enough development, not enough worldbuilding when it comes to StarClan, slow plot progress and not lack of meaningful death. I'm more than open to any reasonable critique and will be happy to return the favor.
My specialty when it comes to writing is character development and dialogue. If you are worried about logical inconsistencies, I can definitely help. My weaknesses are plots, but I'm steadily developing in that area. My favorite books are anything by PG Wodehouse, the Sisters Grimm series, the Dragonlance series and Animal Farm. My Library
Back Alley King- one shot featuring Scourge doing his rounds on a normal day as king of BloodClan when a sudden and unexpected figure from his past makes an appearance.
Tigerstar's Redemption- takes place before the battle in "Darkest Hour". A sort of "Christmas Carol" starring Tigerstar.
Kits Fade Faster- kits in StarClan fade faster than the rest of their clanmates. The living have had so few memories of them after all. Nightkit and Mistkit have been in StarClan for moons. But before disappear forever, Nightkit has one last cat she wants to visit... in the dark forest.

Okay!! I actually got some ideas and want to share a huge story I’m working on which is in Quotev but it’s with somebody else and she owns some of the characters. But I’m thinking of one currently and just want to plan it out first.

Hey Moth! I have to say, love the den! Writers4Ever <3 Literally everyone I know (though to be fair I guess I don't know many ppl 'cause I homeschool) call writing the curse of their lives, or insist that their writing is teribble and refuse to discourse about the subject. Everyone's an art-lover, and I can tell you I'm the opposite!

I actually draw as well tbh but writing is my bigger passion. Are you writing anything at the moment? WhispersintheMist

I actually draw as well tbh but writing is my bigger passion. Are you writing anything at the moment? WhispersintheMist Well, I have snippets of plot ideas floating around in my head all the time, but when I try to put pen to paper and get them down they don't seem to go anywhere. I'm currently mapping out an idea to write my own Warriors arc, generations after when the current books take place. I'm going to set the Clans up in a new home and try to play around with that in mind. I'm fond of treachery, lies, cliffhangers, suspense, that whole thing, and am trying to develop something with all that thrown in. A big project!

A big project indeed! I'm currently doing something similar except with fanclans and ocs. I'm current in the middle of chapter four. I already explained the series in the first post so I won't repeat myself, but it's a lot of fun to write though it took me around a year to get to where I am now in terms of the worldbuilding. I actually wrote the first book once before, but it was only novella length and wasn't very good. I think I'm having much more success with it this time though.
I'd love to hear some of your ideas

Wow, mothsnap! You've gotten far! Well tbh I only have a few scraps of some mega plot I'm hoping to build up eventually. My fan fic will be set in a different territory, the Clans having moved from the lake due to Twolegs turning it into an extremely popular resort. I don't think I want to document the move because some people I know quit Warriors while reading the second arc because the move was apparently 'too boring'. I actually think writing and reading about traveling, with Warriors and otherwise, is dull too. Anyway, I was thinking that some catastrophic event occurs (what it is I don't know yet) and is on the brink of driving the Clans to extinction. Then, it actually happens. Different secret societies of cats form between warriors of different Clans, and they each pinpoint a leader and overthrow them, some heartlessly murdering these -stars, others maiming and sentencing the ex-leaders to a life of service. These groups break up the Clans into various smaller new Clans with different names, though they are actually loosely organized bands of cats with leaders quickly rising and falling. The medicine cats were all killed, and young cats were trained by the only surviving med. cat, who was treacherous as the rest and shut himself from StarClan. Eventually bands of wandering rogues joined these small 'Clans'. Generations later, there were four or five major groups who were always fighting each other. Also, I was thinking that The Tribe of Rushing Water, meanwhile, separated into three tribes that took different names while Stoneteller's two siblings fought with hi for power. The rightful Stoneteller's brother and sister eventually took their followers and formed new tribes. The original Tribe of Rushing Water, left only with frail older cats who were firm traditionalists, eventually all died out. I was thinking that these tribes and the rogue groups that used to be the Clans will in some way be connected. Anyway, like I said this is just a mishmash of ideas that entered my head over the years. Eventually, probably during summer break, I will sort through this mess and actually start to write. Thanks for reading!

That sounds really interest! Unfortunately, I'm not that good at the mass war and conspiracy plot, but I've always admired them. I'll be really interested in seeing where you go with it. Do you have a main character yet?
I think New Prophecy definitely was on the boring side (the first half anyways). Traveling plots can be interesting, but the Erins aren't good at handling them. When you travel you're taking the characters out of their comfort zone so they really have to develop relationships and develop themselves as characters and become closer. However I really don't think this ever really happens in any of the warriors traveling plots. They just travel, see some dangers, but they aren't really effect. In the new prophecy crow and feather got closer together and that was more or less it.
There was a lot of stuff they could have talked about like how Tawny and Bramble are separated and how they could have deepened their relationship or even realized that they've grown so far apart they're now only siblings by blood and nothing more. I'm actually going to be doing a traveling plot in my books where two cats run away and find a twolegplace far from the territories. they meet new cats and explore different ways of living then what they're use to, grow closer and take care of each other. I'm not really going to focus on fighting or danger, though there will be some it will only really be there to further the relationships between the characters.

Yes, I'm always so excited to see Bramblestar and Tawnypelt interacting and find out what their relationship's like, but unfortunately I'm always disappointed because the Erins don't take it anywhere. And no, silly as it seems, I don't have a main character! Exploring a couple different options though.

wingshadow I haven't done much this week though I've started chapter 4 of forest of mist. I'm too bogged down with exams to be able to do too much. I've also decided to write my comic as some sort stories just so I can practice with the plot and characters, before wasting too much of my time drawing

mothsnap: Oh, I totally get that part about exams. You make comics too? That's cool. When I was younger, my sister and I used to take turns filling in boxes to create this emoji comic. It was fun, though it never really got anywhere. Then The Emoji Movie came out, and my sister was so mad that they had 'stolen' our idea lol

not always, but a lot of the time. that's why the cats specialize in climb. to get above the mists

not always, but a lot of the time. that's why the cats specialize in climb. to get above the mists Ah, I see. And I presume their main diet consists of birds they can find in treetops?

wingshadow not necessarily. they've also learned to hunt on the ground and see and smell through the mist to some extent. they travel by tree to escape predators and get the sneak attack advantage in battle. but they still do eat a lot of birds and squirrels. they can also hunt caribou when they form large patrols of 2-3 dozen. it's like a seasonal sport for them almost. I'm really looking forward to writing that scene.

I'm really looking forward to writing that scene. Wow that is so cool. For my thing, I was thinking that I'll start out with the canon Clans, then when they break up into smaller groups they'll give themselves names like RippleClan, StrikeClan, etc. Then, when the rogues come in and start fiddling with the system, and the groups keep breaking up and reforming, they'll be renamed after their leaders, with fantasy-type names like Tirania and things like that. I'm not sure what happens next, but I don't think I can have these cats using teamwork and stuff like that, as these Clans have just become loosely organized bands of rogues.
