Jace Winters (a.k.a. Winter) | 17 | Male | Winter stands around normal height, about 5'9". His hair is jet black and falls in front of his eyes, but he has dyed white streaks all along his hair. His eyes are a dark forest green color. Winter normally wears dark jeans, dark, posse t-shirts with band names on them, and black sneakers. Most of the time he has his earphones on with music from his iPod blaring. Winter doesn't like, or trust, anybody. After his parents gave him up for adoption, he was sent to live in an orphanage. There he had been bounced around from foster home to foster home. Because of this, Winter has harden his heart and refuses to get comfortable in one place for to long. An introvert at the finest, the boy is never found in large crowds. If anything, the more people around him, the more freaked out he gets. Slightly claustrophobic, the more he was condensed into small, crowded places, the faster he'll be running to the door.
(Bleh, that was an old writing of him, but he's kind of hard for me to describe. I may edit this as I think of stuff to better explain him, but I swear he's more developed than this description might suggest he is.)

|| Brynnlee "Brynn" Wilder || 17 || Female || || Brynn comes from a family of three kids, once having been the middle child before the death of her older brother, now the oldest herself. Popular and well-liked by her peers, this girl typically presents herself as the cheerful, upbeat one of the bunch. She tries to stay positive in tense situations, and as a general rule is also the person who offers others a helping hand and whatever advice she can afford. However, that is just how she presents herself to those around her while in a public setting. When she has no one to pretend for, she's not nearly as positive or cheery. She's especially reserved at home, where the atmosphere is always cold and strained. She isn't on the greatest terms with her parents, and she struggles daily with their expectations and criticism, resulting in her constructing a facade to hide all her anxieties and insecurities behind. || || Brynn's got dark auburn hair, slightly wavy and falling to just past her shoulders. Her bangs cover her forehead and are swept aside to the right. Her eyes are a pretty pale green, framed by long eyelashes. She has a peachy skin-tone, and a few freckles dotting her upper cheekbones. She stands at about 5'3", and is built thin and a tad bit curvy. Brynn dresses in a sort of casual-formal style, more emphasis on casual than formal. She likes button-down blouses and jeans, though during warmer months she may wear a skirt instead. She doesn't wear much jewellery, aside from the occasional pair of earrings or necklace.
( Yeah, don't worry about it! I've had Brynn in my head for a long time now, but this is the first time actually writing down a description for her, so that is basically my rough draft version, so I may end up editing as well. )

(Sure!)
If there was anyone who didn't want to crawl out of bed this morning, it was Winter. The boy preferred to sleep until noon. That was on a good day. On bad days, he hardly ever left bed. Today was a bad day, but he had been forced out of the warm blankets to dress for school. To rebel, he took the barest of minimal time with his attire and morning routine. Throwing on one of his many black t-shirts sporting the logo of a favorite band and clean jeans, he really only brushed his teeth. Black, shaggy hair stayed in a messy... something on the top of his head. There was really nothing he could do with it except to cut it, but he wasn't going to do that anytime soon. Get it trimmed, maybe, but never cut. Underneath the black locks on his right earlobe, his little metal stud could barely be seen.
Winter took less than a moment to gaze at himself in the mirror, his dark green gaze studying his face. If you got close enough to him, you would be able to see that they weren't true green, but had flecks of brown in there as well, giving his eye color its darker nature. Satisfied with whatever he was looking for, the boy turned and left the bathroom. He picked up his backpack, even though he really had no use for it, before leaving the house. No one was around the house as he left. Everyone was either at work or still asleep. Which one was right, he didn't know, nor did he care.
He, unlike many teens his own age, did not have a car. He had his driver's licences, but no vehicle to call his own. He wasn't complaining too much. He quiet liked the time spent in the cold weather. It made everyone else think he was mad, but he didn't care. That meant no one offered to join him. the less company, the better. By the time he reached school, however, the first bell began to ring. This wasn't new. Winter was always late for his classes. It wasn't because of the walk. If he had a car, that'd just give him a reason to sleep in longer. So, he was the last one to enter the English classroom, keeping his reputation alive.
"So nice of you to join us, Jace," the teacher commented, watching as he made his way to his desk.
By now, Winter was getting sick of the greeting, which was given every time he entered the class late. The teacher knew this and thought sooner or later he'd show up on time. Nope. He could live with the annoyance and use of his first name. He only had one more year to go before he'd never have to hear it again. So he could deal with it.

( Uhm... this turned out a lot longer than I expected. XD They won't all be this long, probably not even close. When I start out with posts like these, they gradually get shorter until I find the perfect length that best suits me and the RP. )
"Brynn?" A distant voice called, and the girl in question mumbled and shifted beneath the covers before curling up into a fetal position, desperate to cling to the last remnants of sleep. Not even two seconds later - "Brynn!" - and suddenly the warmth of the blankets was torn away and the red-headed teenager jolted up, startled and feeling slightly chilled. Blinking sleep out of her eyes, she groggily turned to the young female standing at the foot of her bed.
"Ah... Marissa," Brynn mumbled her little sister's name and then narrowed her eyes at the girl. "Give me back my blankets." She made grabby hands at the fabrics, but Marissa hopped out of reach, taking her beloved blankets with her.
"You forgot to set your alarm again, didn't you?" Marissa accused, and Brynn blinked. The girl sighed. "You're lucky that I have to get up earlier than you for soccer practice, you know. Geez, this isn't like you at all. Did you stay up all night texting your boyfriend or something?"
That instantly perked Brynn up, and she finally got out of bed. "I don't have a boyfriend," she retorted, before reaching over and snatching her blankets back. "I assume I have to drive you to practice this morning?" She asked, but Brynn knew what the answer was already. Ever since she got her license, the responsibility of making sure she and Marissa got to and from school had fallen on her shoulders. Their mom and dad had instantly opted out of that task as soon as she was able.
"Yeah, so you'd better get ready," Marissa said over her shoulder as she left Brynn's room, "and don't go back to sleep!"
Brynn rolled her eyes at her sister's teasing and shut the door behind her. Then, she began her morning routine. By the time she was ready to leave, Marissa was hovering by the front door, looking impatient. Driving her sister to her morning practice usually meant that she'd arrive at her own school earlier, which in turn would give her time to get a bit of extra studying in.
The drive to Marissa's school was filled with the two of them bantering and giggling back and forth, but as soon as Marissa left the car and was out of sight, Brynn's amused expression instantly faded and she took in a deep breath. Then, she began the drive to the high school, which was about fifteen minutes away by vehicle. Everything was silent during those fifteen minutes, and when they came to a close, she prepared her smile once again and departed from the car, heading out and into the school.
Brynn loitered around the library for a while, browsing through books and reading ahead on a few of her subjects. She caught sight of a few teachers as well, who all smiled at her and greeted her. She smiled back convincingly each time, but her mind remained blank. When there were only ten minutes left before class started, Brynn packed up her thing and left the library, meeting up with some of her friends and heading to her first class of the day - English. They chattered the entire way there, lively and animated.
Brynn took her seat in the usual place and continued joking around with her friends until the teacher entered the room. The teacher had just started the lesson when the door opened again, and Brynn watched as a dark-haired boy entered the classroom. This wasn't the first time she'd witnessed him be late - it happened regularly. But for some reason, Brynn had been taking notice of this fact more often. He clearly didn't come from a family like hers, and she was almost in awe of the fact that he just seemed to show up whenever he felt like it. It was so different from her life - her parents would come down on her like an iron hammer if she dared to be late, even once. What would it be like, to have that kind of freedom? The girl watched him as he made his way to his seat, and as she did, she wondered what it would be like to have been born into any other family.

(That's how mine start and turn out too. XD I always think that the starter post should be fairly long, just to help solidify things about the characters and the setting.)
Winter was more than aware that several pairs of eyes were on him, but that, like his tardiness, was nothing new. He attracted attention sometimes even though he tried to avoid it. His clothing choices, his behavior, his life outside of school, his personal life... everything was prime topics of discussions among the more high-and-mighty of the school. The main pain in his neck were the typical jocks who considered themselves better than anyone anyway. It might not have been so bad had the boy had a group of friends to help hold him back. Sadly, he was friendless, at least in the walls of the school. So it was no secrete or oddity to hear that he was involved in plenty of fights whenever certain people tried to feel better about themselves. Usually he lost, sporting bruises for days and interchanging between detention and suspensions on a regular basis. So was it ever a wonder why he showed up late or skipped school?
As the lecture began and the attention of his peers turned back to the teacher, Winter folded his arms on his desk and laid his head down on top of them. His head was killing him, a consequence of his little drinking problem. Yes, he was too young to drink. No, that didn't stop him from hanging out with one of his buddies and having a couple beers on nights he needed to relax. Or make people angry with him. Most of the time, he drank out of spite. Honestly, he didn't know why he bothered showing up this morning. No one would have been able to drag him out of bed. He could have stayed in, nursed his hangover, and pretend the world didn't exist. Why hadn't he done that? Maybe he would just leave early, depending on how the rest of the day went.
If the teacher noticed his lack of focus, he didn't call it out. Even though the dark haired boy never took any notes and was absent more than should be allowed, Winter always managed to make decent grades. Low As and Bs, nothing too impressive. Many teachers had called him out for cheating over the years, but whenever they had him prove he actually knew what he was being tested on, their accusations were always proved wrong. Winter was great at school, even though his attitude towards it might say otherwise. It drove his teachers crazy that he didn't apply himself to his academic abilities. It just didn't do him any good. He was bored here, which led to his habit of stirring up trouble or simply leaving.
When the bell finally rang, signalling the end of first period, he winced at the shrill noise. He stayed where he was, waiting for the main rush of students to thin out before he would even attempt to leave the room. The less chances of bumping into, or being shoved into, other people, the better. Only when half the class had left did he lift his head and move to rise from his desk.

( XD Yeah, that does make sense. Mine will probably stay kind of on the longer side until I get out all of Brynn's inner thoughts and feelings. Then they'll start to shorten. Probably. XD )
As the lesson picked back up again, Brynn all but forgot about the late student as well as her internal thoughts - at least, for that moment. For her, the class dragged on a bit, though she paid attention and took notes diligently. Everyone expected her to have good grades - her peers, teachers, her parents. Heck, she'd been keeping her grades as high as possible ever since she'd started going to school. Things had gotten worse for her, more dull, since the passing of her brother, and she found it difficult sometimes to stay focused on school when she thought about how the most understanding person in her life was gone forever. But still, if they expected her to be a grade A student, who was she to disappoint?
The truth was, Brynn didn't even want to get out of bed some days. Last night, for example. She had deliberately decided not to set her alarm, just to see what would happen, to test fate. Her sister had ended up waking her up. Her precious, naive little sister... Marissa had been allowed to take time to grieve, get upset and wallow after their brother's death. Brynn, on the other hand, was instantly subjected to the intense criticism and expectations of her parents. Their eldest child had died - someone had to step up and be the new picture-perfect child of the family. She'd essentially been told to store away all of her grief and sadness - because she had an image to uphold, a role to play. Stray from the path and there would be consequences.
Brynn wondered how her brother had ever managed with the amount of expectations cast by their mom and dad. He never seemed burdened by it, he was almost always smiling, always there to lend an ear when she needed to talk... then one day he died in a freak car accident. Killed by a drunk driver while he was home visiting from university. Then just like that, all the pressure seemed to shift to her. But it wasn't just that, either. Her parents had always been distant, but not like they were now. She could hardly stand being in the same room as them, the atmosphere was always so tense and cold as ice. Sometimes she wondered if her brother's death had frozen their hearts over completely, leaving no room for love for their other children.
Suddenly, there was a sharp prod in her side, and Brynn jerked to attention, realizing that she'd been daydreaming for the past five minutes. She cast a grateful smile to her friend sitting next to her and resumed her focus on the lesson, which passed by like a blur once she was able to put her thoughts aside.
When the bell rang, signalling the end of class, she stayed behind a bit longer to make sure she'd copied down all the notes off the board. Closing her books once she was sure she'd gotten everything, Brynn got up to leave. As she did, her eyes fell on the dark-haired boy again. He seemed to be waiting for the rest of the class to leave, and for a moment, she paused. An idea flittered into her head, one that she would never have considered a few years ago when she was younger and didn't feel so cornered and oppressed. She pursed her lips for a split second, and then abruptly made up her mind.
Moving toward the boy quickly - before she could change her mind and back out - she opened her mouth to say, "Hey there." She instinctively conjured up a friendly smile, "You're Jace, right? I noticed that you're often late or absent, and I can't help but worry that you may be falling a bit behind and I'd hate to see that... so, I was just wondering if you'd like to borrow my notes sometime? I think we have a few classes together, besides this one..."
On the inside, she was screaming at herself - what was she doing?! A straight-A student, willingly offering help to someone like him? Her parents would no doubt disapprove. Her friends would laugh and make fun of him behind his back. Her teachers would wonder why she was wasting her time with him. But, she thought, that was exactly why she was doing this. For once, she wanted to just throw away those expectations, those notions that she ought to just stick to being the perfect, innocent girl that everyone perceived her to be. Sure, her family was one of the wealthiest, most well-known in town, but really, what harm could this do?

(Same. XD Don't worry about it when it happens.)
Winter saw the girl walking towards him the moment he stood. He also knew exactly who she was. Brynn Wilder, Teacher's Pet and one of the more popular girls in school. She was always seen with friends around her. Her grades were always perfect. Her whole life seemed to be going as perfectly as it could. A lot of people would envy her and her life. It just ticked him off. Up until now, the girl never spoke a word to him. Not that he had ever tried talking to her either. The boy kept his distance from the preppy and colorful. Yet here she was, walking towards him and offering to share notes with him.
Green eyes turn cold as he scowled at the girl. "I don't need any help," he replied shortly. And with that, he pushed passed her to join the multitude out in the hall. He didn't trust people who talked to him out of the blue. Either they were up to something or needed something. Someone had to have asked her to set him up for some kind of prank. He'd seen it happen before. There was no way she had meant a single word she had said. People like that never did anything out of the goodness of their hearts.
Pushing the encounter to the back of his mind, Winter walked to his next class, still debating whether or not he wanted to leave earlier. One more class should be enough to help him decide. If he made it to lunch, then he would just trudge through the rest of the day. If not, then there were other things he could waste his time doing.

Brynn had to admit - she wasn't used to being brushed off so coldly. She was so used to everyone greeting her with smiles and friendly words... well, everyone at school anyway. All of her family - minus Marissa - acted in a similar fashion as he just did. She didn't like that she was suddenly reminded of the stark unfriendliness of being at home, while she was here at school. School was the only place where people seemed to appreciate her in any way. Jace's actions left a bitter taste in her mouth, and she decided then and there that if he wanted to be rude for no apparent reason, then she wouldn't bother with him. She didn't need anyone to look down on her and act like being around her was too annoying. She already had enough people in her life to do that instead.
Clicking her tongue, Brynn also headed out of the classroom, catching up to her friends. They asked what had kept her so long, but she merely shrugged and told them she had gotten distracted with taking notes. A couple of them teased her, saying that she was such a Teacher's Pet, to which she laughed and agreed. She was determined to get Jace's mean rejection out of her head, but for some reason, it kept bothering her. She wouldn't consider herself a particularly proud person, but clearly whatever pride she did have had been wounded, and she couldn't stop thinking about it.
As Brynn reached her next class, she almost wanted to turn around and leave the moment she saw the dark-haired teen inside the room. Instead, she steeled herself and walked with her friends to her own seat, only giving the boy a passing look as she walked past his seat to get to hers. She smiled widely at him as she passed by him, half out of spite and half out of the desire to mend her pride. Feeling oddly satisfied, she then took her seat and withdrew her things from her bag. Then she waited for the bell to ring, chatting with her friends as they crowded around her desk.
( Haha, these two are off to great start! XD Hmm, maybe they could be forced together for a project in this next class? I mean, they need a reason to interact and because Brynn's so deadset on getting good grades, she'd be all up in his case for him to do his share of the work, even though neither of them particularly want anything to do with each other right now, XD I kind of want this to be a kind of 'acquaintances - to friends - to more than friends' kind of deal. Also, none of Brynn's friends has names or personalities at the moment, but a couple of them may become more important as this goes on. )

Winter wove his way through the hallways to his next class, history. Probably one of the most boring classes he ever had to sit through. It was probably his worst class. The dates and names of kings and wars of old just tangled in his mind. Sometimes he could untangle enough information to pass tests, but it wasn't enough to say he was the best in the class. On the way, no one bothered to talk to him. Conversations of all kinds echoed off the walls, but none involved him, which was fine by him. He was never one to talk much. You'd be lucky if he ever spoken more than five words to you.
As he entered the history class, the boy took his seat at the far corner of the room as possible. It was the best place to nap. All around him, other students took their seat. For the most part, no one paid him any attention. Except for Brynn. Of course, he noticed when Brynn walked in. Was one of the last few people who walked in without being late. The smile she sent his way got no reaction. If anything, it was only further proof that her earlier conversation was a ploy of some kind. Maybe one of the jocks had put her up to something. s far as he knew, she wasn't dating any of them, but that didn't mean they might not use that as a reason to start another fight. Was he a little paranoid? Possibly. But it was better than letting someone trap him in something.
(I think that's the only way they're going to interact. XD But yes, with Winter's aversion to people in general, their relationship will be the slow growing kind. Mainly because Winter will be so determined to keep her at the distance. Also, I'm fine with that. You can't make personalities with every single friend she has. Just bring in the important ones whenever you see fit.)

Brynn chatted aimlessly with her friends until the bell rang, and only when the teacher came in and told them all to sit down did they scatter away from her desk. The moment they did, she felt a wave of relief. Sometimes it was just so draining, having to entertain them constantly. That being said, they were still her friends, and a few of them she'd known since kindergarten. They were important to her, that was true. But at the same time, she wondered at times how they didn't notice her inner turmoil if they knew her so well... maybe she really was just that good at hiding her problems. She supposed, to them she hadn't changed at all over the past few years. If that was the case, was it her own fault that she found herself in this situation?
She exhaled a quiet sigh, running a hand through her auburn hair as the teacher droned on about some king that had lived centuries ago. Gosh, she really wished she could just fade away into the background sometimes... she could really use the space to just sit and think for a while, without people constantly surrounding her.
"Everyone listen up," the history teacher suddenly raised their voice, and Brynn tried to turn her full attention back to the front of the room. "I'm going to be assigning partners for this project. Your task is to pick one of these topics on the board here and make a presentation for it. This will be a big part of your final grade for this semester, so I recommend that you not slack off."
A murmur swept around the room, and Brynn suddenly felt a bit of apprehension. It didn't sound like they were allowed to pick their own partners - which meant there was a chance she might get stuck with someone who might not do their own fair share of work. She bit her lip and waited for the teacher to start listing off the pairs.
And several names later, it happened - "Brynnlee Wilder and Jace Winters" - the moment she heard those words, she felt her stomach drop. Of course. Of course this would happen, why wouldn't it? Brynn felt an intense wave of resentment wash over her. She really didn't like history.
( Yeah, haha. I feel like Brynn's going to have an uphill battle trying to convince him that she doesn't have any negative ulterior motives, XD She doesn't have much of an aversion to people, but she's dealing with her own kind of internal crisis at the moment and is going through a kind of "what I want vs. what everyone else wants" thing at the moment. )

As soon as the bell had rung to start the new period, Winter had assumed the position he had adopted in th last class: head down on folded arms as if trying to catch as much stray sleep that he could get. Of course, he wasn't alseep at all. He wished he was, but sleep never visited him during class. He didn't know why because he was bored out of his mind. Maybe it had something to do with the uncomfortable desks they had to sit at. Zoned out as he was, the boy missed pretty much all of the lecture and mention of the project. It wasn't until he heard his name being spoken did he lift his head. On the board was a variety of topics. That combined with the few other pairs of names that made up the last of the list, he guessed what was happening. A group project. Great. Another person to tell him what he was doing wrong nd what he needed to do to fix his work. He just hoped he hadn't been paired with anyone too unbearable. The less interactions the better, but he didn't want to be annoyed every time then had to meet. (Good luck with that. XD Something she should have the support of friends to help her through. Instead, she gets this ray of sulking sunshine, haha. I already feel bad for her.)

After all the pairs were announced, they were instructed to meet together and discuss what topic they planned on doing. As the students began getting up and moving around the room, Brynn cast a glance over at her assigned partner. From the looks of him, he didn't seem to know who his partner was. Great, already off to a wonderful start. If he wasn't even going to pay attention to who he was going to be working with, how was he going to be with the actual project?
Pursing her lips and steeling herself, Brynn rose from her seat and made her way toward his desk with no small amount of hesitance. Then, she grabbed a nearby chair and dragged it over, plopping down into. "So here we are," she said, once again pasting a smile onto her face, "looks like we're partners, huh? Have you decided what topic you want to work on?"
On the inside she was dreading this, all of it. If he was rude like before, then she wasn't sure how long she'd be able to keep up the friendly and cheery act. The last thing she wanted was to show anyone how she really felt.
( Yeah, Brynn's really gonna need all the luck she can get, XD Haha, ray of sulking sunshine. What a way to describe him. )

Everyone stood up and instantly moved to their partners. Winter didn't. Even if he had known who he had been paired up with, he wouldn't have tried to find them in the midst of the main chaos. There was only so much space to walked in between the rows of desks, and people were bumping into each other enough as it was. But, luckily, he didn't have to get up anyway. His partner found him. The downside: his partner was Brynn. Yay.
His expression never changed as she sat down beside him. Her smile didn't phase him. If anything, it was just a testament to what the whole project was going to go. She'd be all smiles now, but as soon as the work started, she'd be over-bearing and strict about what she expected him to do. "They're all the same to me," he muttered. "You pick, tell me what parts to cover, and we'll keep the actually group work to a minimum. Work for you?"
(XD I'm so mean to him. That's a generous way to describe Winter.)

( Well it took longer than I would have liked, but here it is, finally! XD )
Brynn had honestly expected him to be a bit more resistant to the idea of working with her, but this was a nice surprise. The bright smile on her face became a bit smaller, taking on a more real and genuine appearance as it did. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. As long as they could both remain civilized, perhaps this whole thing could go by that much more smoothly.
"Works for me," she answered, allowing herself to relax and drop the overly cheerful attitude somewhat to take on a more normal one. She gradually slipped into a thoughtful and analytical mood, forgetting her earlier hesitance almost entirely for the sake of the project at hand. "In that case, we should divide up the work evenly. As for the topic, they are all similar. Most of, if not all of the information we'll need can be found in the school's library or in the textbook... let's go with..." she examined the different topics on the board again, absently tapping her fingers on the desk. "Let's just keep it simple and go with the first World War."
She was well aware that at least 40% of their classmates would also pick the same topic since it was undoubtedly one of the more simple topics. It wasn't like she was just looking for a fast and easy grade, though - the fact that they wouldn't be the only pairs who would be covering the topic, meant they'd have to step up their game and work hard. She admittedly viewed it as sort of a challenge, one that she was fully prepared to take on. It would be a welcome distraction anyway.

(Lol, it's all good.)
Winter gave a small scoff at her choice f topics, but didn't argue. Honestly, he wasn't surprised by her choice. The first World War was probably the most easiest topic to cover. Yeah, it s very complicated in it's nature, but the amount of information that could be found on it was endless. Not to mention there were multiple angles in which one could cover. An easy and certain A. What more could he expect from a Teacher's Pet?
"Then just ho ahead and tell me what you don't want to cover and we'll go our separate ways," the boy muttered, wishing for nothing more than to have this conversation over with. She would assign him the work she thought would be simple enough for him to handle so there would be no risk of him messing anything up. That's what every partner he ever had did. Seeing him as the dumber of the two, no one trusted him with a huge bulk of the work. Why should this time be any different?

Something about his attitude was rubbing Brynn the wrong way. No, he wasn't exactly being rude, but the way in which he was putting all the decisions on her was starting to irk her. It seems her overly friendly facade was backfiring here. Looked like she may need to alter the way she had to behave with him, as much as she didn't want to give him the honour. The last of her smile dropped and she gazed at him in a way that didn't really give away any of her internal thoughts. Finally, she spoke,
"You know, this is a group project. A group effort. Yet, you seem perfectly complacent to let all the important choices fall on me," she resisted the urge to cross her arms like a petulant child, and just laid them down upon the desk instead. "I personally don't care what parts I cover or don't cover. It makes no difference to me." Somehow, being genuine was actually feeling pretty good. She allowed her gaze to drift away, "So, how about you pick what parts you want to take on. I'm fully aware that the first World War is the simplest choice I could have made, and that's exactly why I chose it." Her eyes then cut over to him abruptly. "You can choose to approach your share of the work however you want, but I'm not going to tell you what to work on. It's a little unfair to put that on me, don't you think, if not a bit degrading toward yourself." Oh, that felt good. Letting out a bit of her irritation. He could think what he wanted about her. It made no difference, her opinion was still her own.

Honestly, she didn't think there could be a way for one single person to irritate her more than this guy. Brynn was having a hard time wrapping her head around his attitude. Seriously, what the heck did she do to earn this? All she did was try to be friendly. She resisted the urge to scowl and simply nodded her head in response. "I can work with that," she replied, sensing that he wasn't going to really care about anything else she could have said. "As long as you don't give me a reason to complain, I think we're good." She didn't know what kind of worker he was, honestly, but it hardly mattered in the end. If he decided to slack off, she would just make the required adjustments. If he presented something brilliant, then even better for her. All in all, the odds of her complaining were pretty slim. Not that he'd know that.
She leaned back in her seat, throwing one leg over the other. She found herself looking at him, trying to figure out what his deal was. He clearly had issues, he made that obvious. Or maybe he just didn't like people. Brynn could relate to that in a sense, but she handled it in a completely different way... not that pretending to like everyone was necessarily a good thing. She made a disgruntled face, caught up in her thoughts and not registering the fact that she was making said face while looking at Winter. Eh, what could you do?
