Greetings and Salutations from Fae and Shadow. Arguably, the idea for this RP has been floating around in our minds for, what, a year or so? Haven't had the opportunity to bring it to fruition until now. Aaaanyway. The idea goes that there is this volcano, more specifically a stratovolcano [ think Mount Saint Helens or Mount Vesuvius in terms of look and destructive powers ]
At the base is a composite swamp with volcanic gas vents bubbling up from under the water. The gas isn't poisonous but it is particularly heavy directly at the base, like fog. The swamp is a dense jungle, and there is a rusted boat from twolegs, a reclaimed abandoned old shack, and a few other left overs from twolegs who once roamed the swamp. Alligators and other dangers litter the area but there are swamp rats, bats, voles, snakes, frogs and fish to eat so the cats who live there rarely go wanting. They have very little to no interaction with twolegs at all. There is a waterfall coming down from the volcano, from the river that is fed by volcanic ponds. A very clear pool of water rests underneath and this is where the most potent gas and mist can be found. The water is warm, but not too warm although it is not recommended to drink it lest the cats get a tummy ache. Medicine cats go here to see visions and commune with their ancestors. Apprentices go here before they take their warrior name to see if they can find their path. Their spirit lies in water.
Then there is the volcano it's self. There is the main cone, which dips down into a large horseshoe caldera and then rises again into the final and more impressive cone from which is the main eruption point. It all used to be one cone however centuries ago an eruption was so large and devastating that it caused an earthquake which collapsed part of the cone into a horseshoe bowl. A forest grows up from the swamp into the caldera, eventually dissipating the closer it gets to the second cone. The volcano itself is made of many layers of hardened lava, volcanic ash, pumice and tephra. There are dirt roads from the town below that carry tourists up to see the second cone and frequented hiking trails. The cats here know how to avoid them and rarely stray into the open for they take to the forest for shelter. Prey here includes birds, mice, and voles. there are a few clean pools that bubble up and it runs in a small river down from the caldera into the swamp. In order to commune with their ancestors, the volcanic clan must go up the second cone and see what lies in the mist and gases there. Their spirit lies in fire. What we need is some delightful assistance bringing this place to life. We've got one camp figured out (the Bayou Clan) but we'll need help coming up with the rules, with plots, and landmarks. If you know a place I can request a layout, PLEASE let me know. Layouts [for me] take forever to make and I'm not the best at it [as evident via this one]. Shadow will continue with everything else.

Can I just say that I love the title. You know, I didn't even think about using our cats from the 4 clan rp until you brought it up. And I think it's a great idea! I'll have to modify some of my cats a bit, as well as my plans for them, to fit the new roleplay. But it would be super fun! Ugh, I knew I should have copied their stories from the old page before the WCF shut down. I'm having some trouble remembering some stuff about them. There were the siblings: Coldpaw, Ravenpaw, and...the other brother. Slatepaw? Something like that. I think he was the least involved. And the other siblings, Webpaw and Frostpaw. I think I also want to bring Icehollow over, although I may change his name and background slightly. His story is just too damn interesting to leave him behind. If we brought them over, how would we divide them up? There's only two clans this roleplay, so I'm thinking relationships would be a bit different than before.

I'm imagining Jagged in BayouClan to be honest– I think I'll make him have moss perpetually stuck in his fur, so he looks like a shaggy sloth-cat. He and Web and Frost could be in the same Clan while Raven and Squirrel are in the opposite? That way the stories only change a little bit..?
The relationships would for sure be different, less strained. I'm thinking they still meet up to explore one another's territories, but mostly they just hang around the border all day– until the warriors catch on and they're reprimanded. Maybe this is when Squirrel grows up and stops joining them?
Just ideas. But it would allow us to use the characters and the subplots we spent so long making.

No, I completely agree and was thinking of suggesting that division. I could easily see Webpaw and Frostpaw in BayouClan. Funny, of all my apprentices they were the most minor to start out with. But after developing their backstories, they're now my favorites. I also wanted Raven to be in the opposite clan as Jagged, and Web opposite of Squirrel, and Raven and Squirrel together, so that we can keep some key points of their relationships the same. So I'm happy with that. Although I was briefly considering making Webpaw a rogue, but he's too loyal for that, and not in my plan for him.
The only cat I'm unsure where to place is Coldpaw. I like the idea of him being in BayouClan, opposite of his siblings like before, and because it fits with his "I'm a water cat" story. At the same time, I'm not I want him in the same clan as Jagged/Web. I always wanted him to feel like the outsider of the apprentice group, which will be harder to accomplish with two clans.
My other problem is that having Web/Frost in the same clan as Icehollow could throw a wrench in their backstory. I can explain if you'd like, but it'd be a heck of a spoiler.
For the first main conflict, I was thinking we could play with the idea of rogues from the town encroaching in the clan territories. A little cliche, but we could shape it around until we get something we like.
And/or, we could have two power-hungry cats in both clans, secretly helping each other come to power by taking out each other's competition in borders scuffles and "accidents". They could form their own followings, gangs within their clans. Members of such gangs could be either aware of the ambitious cats' plans or naively following what they believe to be a influential, loyal clan cat. Both allow us to steer the conflict in the needed directions by rpings the troublesome rogue/gang leaders, while allowing other rp'ers to interact by being apart of their gang. Or against it. In fact, after awhile, these gangs could start to fracture the clans from the inside out. As the gang leaders get closer to the power they want, their true natures could become more apparent to their clans; this could cause multiple other factions to break out. Some cats join the "gang," while others become divided by how to deal with it. It could be a very interesting angle to play.
EDIT: And as the leaders get closer to their desire, the former partners-in-crime turn on each other. So their conflicts inside the clans, but also against them too.

Hmm in response to Coldpaw, Jagged would be really exclusive towards him. For him, at least until he grows up and matures, BayouClan is the best Clan and if you're not loyal then you can buzz off. So at least from Jagged's end, he's not going to want Coldpaw hanging around and muddling the waters with his ash and smoke background.
Icehollow.. hmm. Give me as basic as you can of a description of the situation, so I can help you sort him out.
I'm loving that second insurgents plot. Perhaps we could combine them, to a degree? Like, perhaps the two trouble makers 'hire' rogues from town to do their dirty work, promising them land and a steady food supply in their new world. Gives the opportunity for multiple fractures in the command structure.
I– have no idea what I'm going to do with Redstar, if I use him at all. I had a plan, you see, and it was going to be glorious. But not sure if it's going to shape out the way I want it.

Hmm, then I think I'll place Coldpaw in BayouClan. It won't be hard for others to exclude him, since he starts out quite timid and a little too desperate to prove himself (sort like Goldenpaw, but he's more of the quiet, suffer-in-silence type). As he matures, he becomes a more stable, rooted cat. It's sort hard to explain without spoilers, so I guess I'll just go for it. Do you remember like a year ago when I explained Icehollow's backstory? How he was a shy and clumsy apprentice who found a friend in Lightpaw, a WindClan she-cat. He thought himself in love and completely trusted her, so he would vent his clan's troubles to her. WindClan attacked RiverClan during a hard leaf-bare for them, when they were weak with sickness, and Icepaw figured out that Lightpaw had told them. She then (cruelly) explains that nobody could ever love a cat as weak as he was, and that she'd used him the whole time. Lightpaw was quite ambitious, and so she had been looking for a way to earn her clan's respect and attention. The betrayal changed Icepaw forever. For the first moons afterward, he was an emotional mess. Then his heart was encased in stone. The affair messed up his head a bit, and realizing that, as a handsome tom, he could have any she-cat he wanted, started to lead she-cats on for entertainment. It was his own twisted way of proving Lightpaw wrong, when she said that nobody would ever love him. He wanted to show her how everyone loved him. Anywho, he never saw Lightpaw again after that meeting. He didn't attend a gathering again until he was a warrior, and she never showed up. He never found out what happened to her, or if she was just hiding from him. But he swore that if he saw her again, he'd kill her. (Icehollow was always my darkest character, although to the outside he probably seemed more of a joke character) Well, when we decided to have the five clans become two, I realized it was a perfect opportunity. Webpaw and Frostpaw were going to be Light's kits, and the reveal was going to bring turmoil to Icehollow. Obviously they weren't his, but the shock that the she-cat that broke him had offspring will set his world a'rocking. And finding out what their mother did was going to drive Frost and Web apart. The question is how to work it with only two clans. If Web/Frost are in the same clan as Icehollow, that would mean their mother was too. And tha obviously wouldn't work. So my options are (a) make Web/Frost born outside BayouClan, like as rogues or something, which is complicated, or ( make Icehollow one of the ash cats. I'm thinking the latter. Originally I wanted Icehollow to mentor Coldpaw, but that was never as set in stone as the other plots. And I think having Ice and Squirrel in the same clan would be interesting for what I have planned Oh, I love that! Hitman rogues, lol. Rogue scent on enemy territory could be translates as crossed borders by the clans, leading to heightened tension across the board. It could be part of the troublemaker's plan, stir up the clan rivalries to further push them into power. I'd love it if the apprentice somehow are the first ones to figure out the plot.

Ooh yes! I do remember something like that. But why would it tear Frost and Web apart?
Also I simply must know your ideas for Squirrel and Ice because I have a few ideas of my own based on what you wrote. I'm thinking Ice could be Squrriel's mentor or perhaps her own mentor is utterly incompetent and Ice somehow gets shouldered with the duty of watching out for her. Maybe Squirrel looks up to him, might even have a tiny crush on him, even as her own feelings for Web develop. Maybe in the end her loyalty to her sometimes-mentor and her friend tear her apart and she isolates herself from both of them, resulting in who she becomes– a cool, well managed individual who has no time for silly nonsense like games and adventures.
Yuss, apprentices as the canary's in the mine. Perhaps only a handful listen, but most if not all chalk it up to over imagination? Or perhaps only some of them saw it, like Raven and Jagged and Web but Frost and Squirrel weren't there to see it so they don't believe them?

I only have a vague idea right now. Probably something to do with their childhood being a lie, that their mother was a terrible person. Web would probably defend their mother (too loyal), while Frostpaw would be distraught that he could side with someone who did such horrible things. Interestingly, I'm going to have them switch over time. Lightwhisker was very much a purist-- thought being mixed-clan, or rogue/kittypet, or even having friendships outside one's clan was inexcusable. Webpaw values his friendships in the other clans very highly, and has never been one for rules. Frostpaw, on the other hand, has always been scared of authority, and seeing how her brother's cross-clan friendships strain him would only help convince her that it's wrong. So you have Frostpaw, who hates their mother at first but slowly begins to agree that your clan should be the only thing you should care for. And then Webpaw, who stubbornly loves his mother because she's their mother; but over time begins to see their mother as cold, narrow-minded, and that she was wrong about everything.
Honestly, I was thinking something similar (mind melt!). Icehollow finding out that his ward/apprentice was friendly with not only an enemy clan cat, but Lightwhisker's son, would bring out some rather traumatic flashbacks for him. Like his mistake was happening all over again. I can definitely see Icehollow taking Squirrel under his wing, treating her like a niece he's never had. He's always had a soft spot for neglected apprentices, given his own past experiences. I love the idea of Webpaw and Squirrelpaw's relationship; how they bicker and sass and insult each other, but have a grudging friendship. And Raven/Squirrel's friendship. I'm excited to play that all out, finally.
Yes, I like that. Perhaps the handful that listen break away into a faction within their clans. And the apprentices, unknowingly, make worse the problem they were trying to avoid/solve. Frost won't really be apart of the group. She goes out, like, twice with her brother to meet with them, but they're caught the third time. Frostpaw's easily cowed by authority, so she never sneaks out again. Webpaw, on the other hand, thinks of himself as a rebel and couldn't care less about authority, so he keeps going out without his sister. It's part of the road leading to their eventual quarrel.

Yo if we just– well, we could start on our own? Like, we essentially have everything done. Using the layout I have above, just change the colors to your liking and I'll make banners/headers/siders to go with it and we can just bloop the information and get going with it? We could also come up with color swatches?
also I really want there to be a gorge of some sort, I'm thinking an old fissure in the side, horizonal before curving down and getting shallower and shallower the closer it gets to the swamp. I'm thinking it was once the site of a minor vent eruption. It could be the main border and split between the two clans. There is a large log from a fallen tree on the swamp side that makes it passable. The apprentices could cross the log there as opposed to going further to the left of the fissure to cross where it's shallow or going down into the swamp's shallow end to pass.
Also LOVING that plot with Ice and Squirrel. I can see him shouting at her, telling her that Web'll never love her, that he'll ruin her in the end but really he's talking about Light and himself.

I'm good with that! I love your layout, it's simple but not minimalist, effort obviously went into it but not complex. It also looks easy to tweak/manipulate if need be. Since you're the design expert here, I'll let you control the headers/banners My only request is that for the headers, I'd prefer more blocky than cursive. Unless you have a specific font/idea already in mind. For BayouClan, I'm thinking earthy tones. Rich browns, deep greens, that sort of thing. Maybe white highlights, as a tribute to the white plantation house the camp is in. I'll try and pull out some more specific shades for you. I love the gorge idea. Like a scar in the landscape. Each clan could have their own story about how it got there: the ash cats would talk about how the spirits of their volcano split the earth with an eruptions to keep their kin safe from their enemies. Bayou cats, on the other hand, would believe that their ancestors used water from a great river to carve it from the land and provide a barrier against the rival clan. There could be a cave or tunnel in the ravine wall that the apprentices discover, and they make it their meeting place of sorts. Perhaps it's an old volcanic vent, and a warm draft still blows from it occasionally. Ice would totally project onto her. He doesn't think anything good could come of any form of cross-clan relationships. I can easily see him simultaneously rejecting her while worrying about her. I forgot to address this, what was your plan for Redstar originally? You mentioned it a couple posts back but I missed it.

Here's an extremely quick doodle for what I was thinking in terms of territory locations and stuff:
I've always imagined the Volcano territory being to the north, the bayou south, and a twoleg place adjacent to both to the west. Would the gorge run from the east side to the west, or start on the west and run east? Or right in the middle? I have no preference.
Eventually, I'll make a map for BayouClan's territory. Which will be better than thing lol

The gorge would run east to west, on the most eastern side of that map, does that make sense? The map looks AMAZING btw.
yuuss land scar stories.
Ice is going to be the worst sort of dad. I imagine Squirrelpaw having a father who was super neglectful. Maybe even Redstar himself..
Oh! Red was originally going to take a forbidden mate from BayouClan but it wouldn't have worked out because it was literally a moment of comfort and not because . Something bad had happened to both clans and it was like "we're alive, we're safe for now" kind of moment and then kits would come from it and they both regret it heavily. But in the end the mother didn't want the kits so she just gave them to Redstar to take care of and he enlists some Volcano clan she-cat who was told she'd never be able to have kits to pretend they were hers and Red's. But Red couldn't really deal with the fact he essentially betrayed his clan in a moment of weakness so he kind of ignores his kits. Like he acknowledges that they're his but further than that he doesn't care much. Meanwhile the she-cat enlisted to take care of them realizes that hey, maybe she was better off without kits because she has no idea what she's doing so she too kind of lets them run free.
Thinking I might keep with this, except have it only be Squirrel instead of three or four kits. Maybe when Squirrel becomes an apprentice, Redstar is super dismissive and literally just is like "take her, Icehollow."

yes, it's my masterpiece. i'm selling it at the local gallery for 20 grand
Dude, yes! Redstar being's Squirrels father would be a super interesting dynamic. Maybe she looks like her mother, and so he avoids her to avoid the painful memories. Or it could be he never wanted to be a father, and he doesn't know how to act like one. So he thinks it's better if he just treats her like any other cat under him. Hmm, I just had a thought. What if, when the apprentices find out there are troublemakers, they don't know the cats' identities? And it leads to a guessing game of who the culprit is. Perhaps Icehollow would be a suspect, since he's always been very ambitious, and he doesn't get along too well with Redstar on behalf of the personal grudge of neglecting his own daughter? That would be interesting.
...okay, usually when I reply to people's posts, I read one part at a time and immediately write the response to the specific section, then move on to the next. So I wrote all of the above before reading what you wrote about your old plan for Redstar. xD Mind melt.
You could also pull a Yellowfang. Give Redstar two kits, but one of them dies. And he feels even more guilty, because he knows that the kit wouldn't have died if they'd never been conceived in the first place. So he keeps himself detached from Squirrelpaw, because the responsibility of facing his mistake all the time as a father is too hard.
I'm fine if you still want the mother to be a BayouClan cat. Or if you want, she could be a twoleg place rogue.

//hides wallet//
Our minds are on the same wave XD
Ooooooh I'll combine all 3. He doesn't want to be a dad and Squirrelpaw looks like her mother with just enough of himself in there that he can't hang around her otherwise he just feels guilt for giving in to a pair of pretty green eyes and dismay because he knows he can never be the father she deserves. Accompanied with the fact that maybe he doesn't want to hang around the female who's raising his daughter anymore, because maybe they made a mistake. Maybe the other kitten got sick and they didn't think it was a big deal until it was too late. The two can't reconcile with the fact that their neglect essentially caused the death of an innocent, maybe this was not long after Redstar brought the kits to the clan– maybe.. the kit didn't even have a proper name yet, maybe it was named posthumously. Squirrelpaw perhaps wasn't even named by anyone yet either. [ headcanon:: Icehollow is Redstar's best friend from childhood but they split because Icehollow tries to get Redstar to take his daughter more seriously and Redstar continually dismisses his daughter and Icehollow's opinion on the matter. ] Maybe Icehollow is the one who names her, when he stops in and inquires about how his bestie's new family is doing after the recent loss of a kit. He finds out they didn't even name the last living one and he kind of loses it on Red and they argue, ending with Redstar saying "if you care so much, you name her. I want nothing to do with her." Or something like that.

Personally, the bolded. It shows up better and grabs your attention better while reading, which is the point of headers.
I love that idea, but it depends on how old Redstar is. Icehollow is fairly young, only about 2 years, so it might be hard to pass them off as childhood friends if Redstar is older than that. If that's the case, then we could always do and old mentor/apprentice bond between them. Childhood friends would work better, but isn't absolutely necessary. What happens to the birth mother? Does Squirrel know she's half-clan? And if the clan doesn't know, how did they manage to fool them into thinking the foster-mother was pregnant beforehand?
Hmm, clan names. I'm okay with just BayouClan, since it's fairly unique within itself. But I'll come up with some others: LichenClan; MireClan; FenClan, off the top of my head

I actually have two tentative banners set up, if you'd like to see them?
Redstar would be around 2 years himself, latest 2 1/2 years, having been made deputy not long after he became a warrior because the previous leader had a disagreement with the former deputy and thus replaced him with a younger cat. Then there was a rumbling in the mountain not two days later, perhaps a minor quake, but the previous leader was crushed to death and thus Redash became Redstar.
The birth mother is still in BayouClan, she never confronts Redstar or Squirrelpaw, although she did speak to Squirrelpaw once at her daughter's first Gathering. Just a standard talk though, just to see how she was and if she was happy. After that, no interaction. Squirrelpaw does not know she's HalfClan, no one does except for those directly involved– though perhaps Icehollow and the perceptive might have an inkling but no real proof because Squirrelpaw also has the vague look of her foster mother– same white fur and similar eye colors. The foster mother had been gaining weight prior to the arrival of the kits, as it'd been spring and as per usual the territory was booming with prey. Also, it was considered a 'gift' from StarClan so the medicine cat didn't really look too closely on the day she disappeared with Redstar, and returned with two kittens. I'm thinking the birth mother [ Mosseyes? ] told Redstar about halfway through her pregnancy that she wouldn't keep them. Redstar then went to the barren she-cat [ Marblefoot? ] and asked her if she would help him, giving her enough time to convincingly gain the weight necessary. I'm thinking there was an exchange at the border, Mosseyes gave birth nearby or across one of the lesser checked borders and Redstar + Marblefoot simply collected the kittens and snuck into camp at night, when few are watching.
For mine, I like AshClan, CinderClan, TephraClan, LapilliClan...

i like the bottom one better tbh. The top one is a little to bubble-y for my taste.
wow that's a complex story. Icehollow, being sensitive to cross-clan stuff, would probably figure it out within a few moons. He's perceptive. Does Squirrel ever find out about her half-clan heritage?
I like AshClan the best, simply because then I can call them ash cats Now that I think about it, Mire/Fen won't work because those are flatland marshes, not wooded. I wish there was something like bayou/swamp that sounded a little more elegant.
I think BayouClan's leader will be Mirestar, rather than my fursona per usual. Still in the works for her personality. So instead, Shadowstalker will just be a young warrior. Except I'm changing her coloring a bit.

How should we set up characters on the clan pages? Should we restrict it to one-line physical descriptions like in the books, or go with the separate blocks for each character? If the latter, we should find a limit to agree on.
|
|
|
Post by Featherwing on Aug 23, 2016 10:43:02 GMT -5
Or– to make it less complicated– perhaps Marblefoot was not barren at all. Perhaps, she managed to have one litter and her litter was stillborn. Perhaps Redstar just brought her these two new kittens to replace the ones she lost. Perhaps the stillborn litter made her barren and she was bitter over their deaths and the fact that these half clan kittens lived while hers did not. But, in a way, these were her kits. Her babies. So she overly smothered them, but didn't actually mother them, you know? Like, from an outside look you could tell something was off but otherwise it looked like a normal mother caring for her kits.
Yeah, I kind of hoped you'd say Icehollow would figure it out. I imagine that when Squirrelpaw's friendship with the BayouClan apprentices gets revealed, then her HalfClan status will show up– not necessarily publicly, but Icehollow is more than welcome to spit the knowledge at her while he's projecting. I don't think I'd want it to be public knowledge, but it'd always be one of those suspicions, one of those things that people aren't quite sure of, that things seem suspicious but no proof so it seems unfounded.
I quite like AshClan myself, that way we can use the prefix Cinder XD
Oooh! She could be in the running for deputy of BayouClan, then? Eventually taking over-? My fursona is usually dead, haha, or she is predicted to die.

honestly, Fae, I'd love anything you'd make. The banners are lovely.
Smothers but doesn't mother. Catchy. She cares for Squirrel because it's her duty, not out of personal connection or an emotional bond. Like when your grandmother gives you her childhood doll to replace yours that you broke; you don't love it, because it still belongs to someone else even if it was gifted to you. So you care for it because it's precious, it holds memories and meanings, but none of them special to you.
So he could blurt out her heritage mid-argument? That's a drama-loaded gun. Trust me, I'll use it. >:] He'll probably have enough control not to say anything in front of her BayouClan friends, though, so there is some mercy.
Yes, that's what I was thinking. I had her in ShadowClan at the 5-clan role-play but almost never got a chance to use her. So I haven't role-player my fursona since WolfClan, really, which was years ago, and back when she was a scary-sue. Getting to seriously role-play her will be interesting for me, since I'm planning to let her personality come about naturally throughout the rp. Speaking of cats, I've been going through my old ones and trying to decide which ones I want to transfer here besides the apprentices, Icewillow, and my fursona. I'm thinking of bringing in Fogstalker, although making him just a quiet, anti-social warrior rather than mentally clouded. Cacklestump/Gingerwood for sure, since he's such an amusing elder. Nettlerose and Sleetwhisper would be interesting as well. We'll see.
I would suggest two lines for personality as well, but one could work fine. What about other information, such as family, age, etc? We could have a header of sorts for each cat that includes such information. Here's one I've used before:
CHARACTER NAME | Gender | Rank | Age Lines of physical description ~ Lines of physical description ~ Lines of physical description ~ Lines of physical description ~ Lines of physical description ~ Lines of physical description ~ Lines of physical description ~ Lines of physical description ~ Description of personality ~ Description of personality ~ Description of personality ~ Description of personality ~ Description < Crush / Mate > Family of:
Sometimes the family tag can get too busy, though, so I'm up for tossing that line.

I'll do the more "branched" banners as opposed to the "bubble" banners then. Maybe I can fit something like that with a text box inside so we can just fit in the info there...... hmmm. I will experiment.
Yuss, smothers but doesn't mother, probably says stuff that really brings down Squirrel's self-esteem too.
I look forward to getting to that Maybe she whispers it to Raven in the dead of night after she finds out. Maybe it's that tidbit that makes her separate from her friends, in an attempt to really prove herself a full member of AshClan.
I may bring back Goldenpaw tbh– loved my floofy baby. Lilypaw wasn't a big player, but I'm probably going to bring back Stormtrail as a grumpy senior warrior.
Loving that form btw. 2 lines of personality works, but perhaps we should really emphasize to not make a mary-sue/gary stu/scary sue/scary stu kind of character. I hate flat characters who's only purpose is to find a mate/have a family. The family section should stay but we should limit it slightly, like immediate family. No cousins/aunts/uncles unless it's completely necessary. Grandparents/parents/siblings are fine, but on the condition that you plan to actually incorporate that relationship into your rping.

Yo, which do you like better? HiddenClan or BayouClan?
Which reminds me, I need to do my part on my saved post for this thread. Whoops. Completely forgot.
I imagine Raven would be entirely sympathetic to wanting to prove loyalty. After all, her and Slypaw's brother ran off to join the enemy clan. It's a Brambleclaw thing-- cats will constantly be wondering if she, too, is going to abandon her birth clan. So she feels the need to be continually proving to herself and everyone around her that no, this is her home and she is not her brother. The main difference being that Ravenpaw's trial is public knowledge, while Squirrel has the mercy of privacy. Although, in some ways, I wonder if that'll be harder.
ahhhhhh I loved Goldenpaw!! i always felt so terrible for him. I played his father and uncle, right? Macewhisker and Roaringwind, I think were their names. And grandma Thistlebloom. Good times, even if they didn't last very long.
No, that's a good idea. I always especially hated scary-sues. Easy to pick out by their blood-clan like names. 'Bonecrusher" "Bloodfang" "Hauntedmoon" or whatever was suppose to seem creepy/eerie.
