Moons ago, a small group of wild cats made their home in a small valley between two large mountains. It was a misty and mysterious valley, few other living occupants other than the basic species that thrived. Two-legs were far and few between, usually living with livestock in their large dens amongst the trees. Here the new clan settled and called home. Sadly, after only a few generations, the clan suffered many great loses. During greenleaf, two-legs started a forest fire on accident and ruined acres of the forest, driving the cats from their camp. By leaf-bare, there was little the felines could do to save their clan from the sickness that ravaged their home, and they lost many cats. Because of their dwindling numbers, the leader of Mistclan declared that from now on, cats would be assigned mates from the beginning of their warrior lives to help bring up the population and to secure the clans safety. However, who is to say affairs will never happen, especially when they're paired together for life? Will Mistclan truly be safe?
» Respect and Obey. Listen to my rules, the forum rules, and all rules that don't
really need to be said. I'll change and add rules if I feel there needs to be a new
one, but I'll always let people know prior.
» No plot making, unless it's something like a forbidden romance, a warrior/kit/
Other death, a fight between clanmates. Anything like a fox attack or larger will
have to be discussed and approved by myself and the rest of the clan!
» No god-modding, powerplaying, flooding, mary-sues/gary-stus, etc.
» Don't advertise, please. Unless it's something like 'hey, if you guys want, I just
started a new clan. PM me for info' ONCE. Don't constantly use this thread or the
joining thread to promote yourself.
» This is a third person POV, semi-lit at least rp. Please keep it a grammatically
correct post, NO TEXT TALK. Text talk is one of my all-time pet peeves and I will
not respond if it's something that I literally cannot read, because I won't bother.
» Being a semi-lit rp, all posts must be a minimum of 200 words, however more is greatly appreciated.
» Be realistic. No hot pink cats with purple eyes and wings that can kill a fox with
one swipe. I'll allow small powers to cats I PICK for PROPHECIES. You may NOT
create a cat with powers unless I allow one to be made specifically.
» I'll age cats every two weeks by one moon, to keep it realistic and get apprentices
And warriors and kits moving around, instead of static.
» All rules on the joining page apply to the rp as well, make sure to review those if
you think something is missing.
Traditions
ranking
Mistclan's ranks are generally the same as many clans, with minor exceptions. There is a leader, however the second-in-charge, or deputy, will always be a direct descendant of the leader. This rank is titled 'the heir', and they act as deputy in preparation to take over the clan. If the heir is a she-cat and becomes pregnant, her mate will take over along with the leader to carry out deputy duties until she kits and can return to her duties. There are also two medicine cats, only tom and one she-cat, who are a mated pair, as well as two medicine cat apprentices that are also a mated or to-be mated pair. In the case that the female medicine cat(s) become pregnant with kits, there will always be another medicine cat to take over when she retires to the nursery for her term.
assigned mates Upon the warrior naming ceremony, a cat is given an assigned mate along with their name. Usually their mate is a warrior already, however there are times when the population is low that a new warrior will be given an apprentice as a mate-to-be for when they too become a warrior. From time to time, the leader will decide two cats will be mates when they're kits even, however this is rare and tends to only occur in situations where high ranking kits are born, usually the leader's heirs. Cats are required to be loyal to their mates, however there has been a history of lack-there-of.
becoming apprentices In Mistclan, kits start training at four moons old. However, until the age of six moons old, most of their training is chores and learning the territory and basic stalking and fighting practices. Once they reach the age of six moons and older, they will begin to join patrols and truly learn to hunt and fight, though until then they are safely trained within the safety of the territory and usually the camp and training grounds. Most kits are assigned to a warrior soon after they're born so a bond can form as soon as possible in hopes to build teamwork and clan relationships. The warrior will act as an older sibling figure to their soon to be apprentice.
becoming warriors From the beginning, Mistclan apprentices are sent into the mountains and given three nights to return safely to the camp. While this seems harsh, it's to prepare the apprentices for the hardships that come from being a warrior. They must hunt for themselves, find shelter, and find their ways home. They're left in a mysterious location by their warrior to find their way home. Because of the mountains, apprentices rarely get lost, and even rarer die. Most fail only if they do not return in three nights and a search party must be sent out to find them, and when they return are forced to continue training and trying again each month until they can find their way home in the dark and misty mountains.
