I had a venus flytrap very briefly but it died shortly after transplanting it from the tiny crammed pot it came in to a slightly bigger one.
One cool plant I recommend that is similar - not carnivorous, but has a very neat reaction to insects landing on it - is "Sensitive Plant" (mimosa pudica). I owned a couple of them for years (and really should start another one): they have leaves that instantly fold up and droop for several minutes when you touch them, and the blossoms look like kinda like purple cottonballs.

I do know some of these plants need high humidity, or so that's something to keep in the consideration.
I had a Venus flytrap for like a week, I bought it from Walmart and it didn't last very long because I literally kept it outside in Nebraska fall weather. I was like 12 at the time and just thought it would be a cool Plant, I also touched its mouth all the time, making it close. The poor thing didn't stand a chance against my idiocy.
