Hey so... uh, I created something about this awhile back, but unfortunately sort of left everyone hanging as I got very, very sidetracked and didn't get many replies besides. Apologies. Old thread was here lol, you can refer back to see my rp preferences if anyone wants to 1x1 instead I guess.I'm looking to create an rp inspired, in short, by Studio Ghibli/Narnia/Charles D¡ckens/Twilight Zone/Jane Eyre/mystery novels such as classic Sherlock Holmes and suchlike! I have wanted an rp like this for sometime as I think it'd be a deal of fun, but I don't want to do a strictly historical one that sounds hard to keep accurate... so! Fantasy world inspired by Victorian is a go. I'm not looking for a 1x1 as that is usually romance centered or inclining and I have to admit, I like group role-plays quite a bit and have never done an successful non-warriors one, unless you count a scattering of fandom and crossover rps which did rather well... basically I have never done a human rp that lasted long. However I will rp romance (mxf only) if the plot calls for it as a sideliner to a main plot so no romance as full focus. I am lenient on the level of... of how literate it is, or advanced, or however you'd call it, but generally paragraphs interest me more than one liners. This aside I go onto the plot! Yay. cx I have these three old plotlines from awhile back and would like to somehow merge them! The 2nd inclines to a more modern setting, but we can mix and match as it will be a fantasy or au world. A group of strangers, who are all running from something in their past, find themselves traveling on the same train taking them to a prosperous city, all hoping for a new life. After their initial meeting, there is some mutual dislike and suspicion of each other- but the train stops short after an accident, leaving them temporarily stranded out in the countryside (in Autumn or winter). They are forced to stick together as they walk the rest of the way there, or, at least, until the next town is reached. Night is coming to the (city), with taxi's being almost all taken after a sudden downpour not predicted by the weather channels. A group of characters (or just 1/2) are forced to hitchhike as they do not have a car, and luckily find a person going to the same town they are staying at. However, when arriving, they find the place mysteriously desolate- a sudden ghost town, for unknown reason, that was previously busy with life. A group of people are called together for the reading of a will, all either not knowing each other or recalling each other only from distant memories or from hearing about them from others. This story can take whatever turn, a few ideas: 1) the man who died was murdered, with one of the inheritors the killer- could be assigned outside rp 2) we wing it and decide stuff as we go along 3) someone, a man, probably the son of the deceased, is ordered in the will to marry someone else, a woman, if they are to get the inheritance by prior betrothal agreement or something 4) only one person there inherits something with the others only getting insults or useless things, resulting in jealously 5) a mix of the above THAT IS ALL! I need people interested in joining, and I can make a layout myself, and we can also bounce more ideas around too and find a way to somehow have these all laced together into one rp? As an extra note, this is a human rp. However as long as there are no demons, I'd also not mind talking animals in a Narnia-fashion, or in the general fashion of fairytales/Beatrix Potter books, wearing clothes and such. cx Otherwise it'd be just humans with animals as pets.

Yay one person! Hi Blaze! We can plan for a bit if you want then? I'm open to suggestions if it's around the general theme or like, how to actually merge all three reasonably well. cx

I really thought I replied to this...
Anyway, I haven't thought of how to merge any of them together quite yet! XD But I can look and maybe get some ideas...? Or we could start bouncing ideas back and forth?

Sure either is good. c: The train part is the main starter sequence overall, I really want to rp stranded train travelers lol. cx

When I first read train, all I could think about was it being one of those murder mysteries on a train. XD Anyway, I agree. I think it'll be fun, especially if they are all from different walks of life..

I suppose it is slightly inspired by that. cx Maybe it was a murder attempt? Huh!
Do you think there should be any assigned roles like some rps have? Typically I'd prefer not but I guess it could be optional?

And then the murderer could be following them... or in the group. o.o DUN DUN DUNNNNNN.
Do you mean like "the player," "the quiet one," etc.? I'd say no. xP Although I appreciate them for some things, I think I'd like the opportunity to do whatever with my characters? XD So, would they all be strangers that find out they're all heading to the same place to read a will?

YES. I THINK THIS IDEA IS GOOD.
No I mean more like by ranking if that makes sense...? Like saying "so many aristocrats allowed in the train group, so many middle and low class level, so many doctors, so many writers, ect" so we have varied character types with different backgrounds? But yeah, I personally prefer to have it as whatever, so they'd be more like... suggestions I suppose? Not personality based regardless. c:
I think a portion of the group could be, but maybe not all- I imagine after the accident, people kinda group off depending on their planned stops, as well as some just heading for the nearest town to seek repairs like the train owner, but the group we follow is just... really impatient/all going to the same city, so they decide to go as a group as it's safer from like... highway robbers or whatever.
Gives me an idea, should it be "plot" based with limited openings or more like open world with different plots? Like we start out with 1 story and sorta build the fictional world as we go and add new plots on completely different sides of the world, sounds like it could be fun. cx We'd start with just this idea for starters though, with maybe limited positions for the travelers and other positions for other people in the story?

Look at us! Brainstorming really well! XD And we could keep it top secret with who the murderer is, maybe...? Like, don't tell anyone so that when it is revealed, everyone is like "Oh my goodness. What?!"
Ohhh. Yeah, that makes sense. XD Maybe keep it loose at first, and then start enforcing it as people join? Or just come right out in the beginning with how many of each are allowed. I could get behind doing it for aristocrats, middle-level, and the poor. I think people would keep the careers fairly varied, but tend to bunch up in one class or another. o.e In my experience, anyway.
That would be perfect. I guess it would be kind of weird if everyone heading to the same city were going for the same will reading. XD
Having a main plot with little plots coming off of it sounds good to me. =3 And then we could build a world and after the plot was finished out, we'd still have a reason to keep rping!

Yes, that's what I meant by "the man who died was murdered, with one of the inheritors the killer- could be assigned outside rp". Like that mafia game I see sometimes. cx So it could apply to either the old man being murdered or the person on the train who someone attempted to murder or the same person is trying to kill both? We might also have to decide beforehand who he is trying to murder.
I have a lot of aristocratic characters I want to use though. cx I'm thinking it'll only apply per main plot and side characters can be whatever, but assigning limits right away or as people join works for me. Basing off my clan rps usually I just close my ranks if they fill up to fast and wait fir it to even out, so I guess we could start limitless then add it.
Yay. cx We should develop a bit of the world beforehand first, though, like place names and starting setting? Also you think we should allow talking animals and/or fantasy animals? I'm thinking not too magic, but maybe stuff like.. legendary unicorns and such would be ok? I don't want it to be strictly realistic but I don't want it to center around powers either.

Is that what it says up there? XD Oops. Yes, that seems like a good plan. Murderer will need to have good motive.
And I have a lot of low-class people I want to use. XD That's how I was thinking we could run it. Like the Clans where people close ranks, I just didn't know how to word that, I guess...? I think middle-class people will be the one that will have the least amount of characters. o.e
Hmm... maybe normal animals, but also some mythical animals, but they are restricted to a certain area or something...? Because finding them could be a sub-plot or... something. XD I don't know.

Money is always a motive. Or jealously, revenge? I probably have a good bit of middle class, but idk whom I'll be using here in that class. cx I'm ok with human only, but a talking animal nation/group might attract more members? IDk really what is the favored plot here. Plus I have talking animal characters, and the idea of animals going around in Victorian outfits and... being bakers and lawyers and stuff is cute, if surreal lol (plus I love Beatrix Potter and Narnia and The Cat Returns). I don't know if it fits were this is going though. And yeah that's good for mythical animals, I have another plot description that could be adjusted for a quest like that. cx Some rich/noble people of the fantasy world all hear tell of a great treasure hidden in a long dreaded region of the planet, and each wanting the beat the other too it assign a party to retrieve it. But is there even a treasure?

I like jealousy. XD I guess we can decide that more when we develop the characters?
o.o Aristocrats will be my hardest class to put characters in. XD But I will make do.
I'm cool with just humans, too. XD But I guess I can make do either way. That is a cute idea. ;-;
Ooh. I like that. And the treasure... is the friendships you make on the journey there. XD Kidding, kidding.

Sorry for late reply. cx And yeah we can wait on it. I like revenge and jealously story lines usually. cx I suppose we can think about it a little later? I am torn between cute lil animals that talk and just humans... The main cast in THIS plotline would be humans though. The kings who commissioned them would NOt like that.

We could bring in the animals down the road, perhaps?
Haha. Perfect. XD

More people lol.
Uh I'm thinking a world name and main location to start with? We'll add things as we go as we said but we need some beginning. cx

|
Post by Winona on Oct 8, 2017 8:32:22 GMT -5
We can get those later. XD
I'm guessing this is some kind of fantasy world? For some reason, I keep imagining it being somewhere in Europe. XD
|
|
|
Post by Deleted on Oct 10, 2017 2:55:20 GMT -5
I picture it somewhere in a Europe like setting, but, not? Because I want it to be a made up world, easier to deal with. cx I'm thinking a few continents and islands in the like with just basic names to start with but only focus at the beginning on one kingdom... state, empire, nation... whatever it is?
|
|
|
Post by Winona on Oct 10, 2017 13:12:57 GMT -5
I'm glad we're both at least thinking of Europe? XD But yeah, a made up world that has striking similarities to Europe will do. So... one kingdom but as the story progresses, we could incorporate the others? o.O But what kind of name for our world. XD

Post by Deleted on Oct 10, 2017 15:03:42 GMT -5
Yes. c: I have no idea about name still though. cx Do you mean the entire world or the places?
|
|
|
Post by Winona on Oct 10, 2017 16:53:13 GMT -5
Probably the entire world, and then we can go into naming the kingdoms?
I have no clue. O.e I used to use Latin to name my places. XD Like, choose what I want it to mean, and then use various translation websites to pick the name.

this looks very very interesting to me, i'd love to roleplay it! this type of genre is always so fun! do you have any set ideas for characters ?

|
|
Post by Deleted on Oct 12, 2017 6:33:32 GMT -5
Winona Ok, works for me, I guess the world's name is most important. cx Uh I sometimes used Latin names too. cx Other ideas is to mix and match words that sound like a theme for it if that makes sense? Or mi and match Latin words lol. What kinda vibe? Mysterious, light, fancy, plain, fantastic, or whatever? ѕкεlεтσиѕ αяε иσω αlινε Hey, welcome! And no not really. I mean for the first storyline we need basic roles for the plot (the murderer, the potential heirs of the deceased, the train conductor if anyone wants to rp a train conductor lol) but for the most part it's free range if it fits. We discussed limiting social classes on given times and plots though. Also the possibility of talking animals if you want a talking animal character.

Let's see... Victorian and fantasy... Victoryland. Don't actually listen to me. XD Uh, maybe we could look up some common phrases from the Victorian era and base our name around that, and maybe with something that sounds fantasy-y? Or the whole world could be Victorian-themed, and then the kingdoms could be fantasy-themed? If any of that makes sense...? Or we could have, like, a theme (such as maybe seasons?) and then translate those words and keep what we like?
Oh my gosh, when you say the characters like that, it seems like such a mess. XD

Post by Deleted on Oct 12, 2017 8:37:59 GMT -5
I can see it now. VICTORYLANDWe can have a themepark appear and name it that. cx Victorian themepark? Sound like it could work if we search around. Maybe mixing popular Victorian names together? Also most of by information on the Victorian era currently probably comes from Charles D¡ckens, so if in doubt, we can always call it "Scroogeland", "Podsnappen", "Pickwickan" or "Pecksniffen". For nations and countries maybe after their first historical rulers for some places, and others maybe off of like mascots of some kind? Like if the coat of arms of a country is some lions it could be called "Leonsgale" or "Lionvendale" or something dramatic and fantasy sounding idk. cx As for characters lol. But... Hey I think I may just claim the train conductor and name him Samuel Pipenwig.

YES. Let's do it. Victorian themepark. XD 11/10. Best idea ever.
You know, those are actually good. o.o We could name the country and kingdoms after Victorian writers! We'll get super nerdy. XD
I like that idea, too. =3 "Wolfington." ... I'm gonna stop suggesting things. XD
Is that a literature reference? XD Because if so, I do not get it, but I like the name?

Post by Deleted on Oct 14, 2017 11:31:18 GMT -5
We will somehow put the themepark in our first plot! What if the dead guy once owned it and eon of our character inherits it in the will? XD Yes! Very nerdy lol. cx I actually kinda like Pecksniffen though do we want a place named after Pecksniff I'm.... not sure. I actually like Wolfington. cx Though I'm picturing wolves living there. Wolves in Victorian outfits. One is a lawyer. And the talking animals have resurfaced. Not really, but I was thinking of weird last names from D¡ckens I'm listening to one of his books on audio lately so uh and it sounds nice. I also thought "Samuel Pippin" but I kept thinking about LOTR... Samwise Gamgee, Pippin Took, ect lol.
