So I had made a roleplay similar to this a very, very, very long time ago on the old forums and while it never really took off, I still thing it's a very cool idea and a rather unexplored corner of the feline universe. The original roleplay was probably a bit too ambitious and not all that well-developed or well-sold. It consisted of four "gangs" within an area of a major twolegplace, which would constantly fight for influence and power. Most of the gangs were not especially unique or interesting, which is probably why it failed... that, and I was trying to run all of them, which just didn't really work. Regardless, a couple of the gangs and- perhaps more importantly- their leaders have stuck with me over the intervening years and I would really love to build on them and expand their story and world.
This would be intended to be a fairly dark roleplay, at least by Warriors standards. There would be a lot of fighting, death, sabotage, murder, starvation, and those sorts of things. These alley cats do not live by codes like the Clans do- their only rules are what's allowed within their gangs and their alliances, or- perhaps even more so- what they think they can get away with. The streets are ruled by those who are powerful, and power here comes from fear, bloodshed, and a measure of cunning. The only way to keep your influence is to gather followers and to keep them in control- any sign of weakness and they will descend like wolves. Thus, any cat clever and strong enough can rise to power here and carve out an alley of their own... but one mistake could cost them everything.
I'm hoping that this would be a bit more on the literate side of things, probably semi-lit minimum. So, pretty good grammar and posts around a paragraph or so each (longer or shorter as necessary). It's possible that literacy levels could vary by gang, with some of them having higher requirements than others. I'm looking to have two different gangs MINIMUM from the start (for some conflict), but hopefully three or four to make things interesting (that way they can make alliances and have more complicated relationships with each other than just two gangs fighting directly). Of course, it's possible to have quite a few more than that, and not all will be equal in size and influence. Some may form during roleplay, while others may die off. It's not like Clans where, despite their rivalries, each is relatively constant. No, in this the sole purpose of each group is to become as powerful as they can, and part of that is to eliminate as many others as they can.
Currently, I have two gang ideas.
The first one is currently nameless, but would be more akin to your stereotypical "mafia" sort of gang. This group focuses less on the quantity of followers and territory that they have, and more on the quality of it. They accept only the best members, and take only the territory most suited for their purposes. They tend to run what the cat equivalent of a club or speakeasy would be- in this case, essentially "safe zones" where cats can pay a fee- usually prey or something similarly valuable- to come under the protection of the gang and simply have a good time. This gang works more through deals, alliances, and cunning than outright combat, though they're perfectly capable of holding their own if necessary. This gang is run by a handsome and charismatic cat named Jared, whose cunning and combat prowess make him a very good cat to have on your side.
The second one, which carries over from the original roleplay, is called the "Flood." This gang is pretty much the opposite of the one listed above, making their headquarters in the city dump and surviving off of garbage, crowfood, and desperation. The Flood welcomes all cats desperate enough to side with them, and are perhaps the most bloody and violent gang. They have little loyalty to one another, as even within their own group they are constantly at odds for food and shelter. This gang only draws the most desperate, as despite all its downfalls it does offer some protection and the guarantee of food and shelter- not of good quality, but something. Cats who also have a vendetta against one or more other gang might also find themselves as a part of the Flood. Their strength is in numbers, and the fact that generally its members will fight like they have nothing left to lose. This gang is run by a cat named Half- no one knows what his original name was or where he came from, but it's quite clear that he's insane.
So, is anyone interested in this? Certainly up for any more gang ideas.
