Oka stayed put, eyes scanning the area- it was now his job to protect her.

(Time skip!) Nieve woke with a start bright sun beams filtered from the barns window across from her. Its brilliant light steaming on her eyes. She stood and yawned stretching her back. Nieve leaped down from her sleeping spot and looked around. The storm had passed, but leaving a very thick layer of snow that coated everything. Nieve leaped into the window and glanced around.

Outside in the snow, Oka patrolled, head high and tail wagging like a pup. His nose was working overtime to try and catch any scents in this snow.

Nieve spotted her friend and gave a small purr. She leaped down from her window sill and padded out into the snow. The small white she-cat could barley be seen in the deep snow, only her violet bell could be heard. She leaped onto a small stump and watched Oka. "Good morning." She called over.

He turned and smiled, trudging through the snow to her as quickly as he could. "Buenos Dias, mi hija. Did you sleep well?"

Nieve's ears flicked to the unfamiliar words. "I slept very well thank you!" She paused. "Umm, what was the first thing you said?" She asked curiously her head slightly tilting.

"Good morning, my girl. Roughly. Are you hungry? I shall go catch us something if that fancies you." He dipped his head respectfully- she was after all, his master.

Nieve gave a small smile. "Ah, i should learn wolf some time." Nieve paused and thought. "I am hungry, but could i come with you?" She asked quietly. Nieve loved morning hunting.

"By all means. But I'll be aiming for larger prey- it might be difficult for you, and will scare away anything smaller." He smiled back, but was sure not to say no.

Nieve gave a small sigh almost inaudible over the crunching snow under her paws. "Ok, then i will hunt in the barn! Oh i might make you nest also!" She said cheerfully. She paused. "Make sure the farmer dosnt see you." She added.

"Ah yes, him. I assume he carries something dangerous then, like a stick of death? I'll be cautious for sure." He smiled and dipped his head. "Be safe too."

Nieve nodded. "I will!" She squeaked before leaping through the snow back to her barn. When she got there she shook snow from her long fur and sniffed for mice.

It was almost as soon as she left that Oka's senses picked up a scent familiar to him. His pack was hunting for him, and had arrived. With his blood ice cold in fear he stumbled back to the barn, covering his tracks as he went. "Nieve!"

Nieve leaped at Oka's loud voice, she had just caught a mouse but now it scurried away from her paws. "What is it? What wrong?" Her fur was fluffed up and her eyes wide.

His fear scent was horrid and all-encompassing as he approached. "They've arrived. My pack. I didn't think they'd follow, but..."

Nieve could smeel his horrid fear sent. Her fur fluffed up even more. She had to help him. "Umm, There is a small hay loft up there." She flicked her tail up towards a latter. "You could hide there right?"

He nodded and looked to it. The cats always jumped from a small set of boxes, but he would crush them! How could he hop there?

Nieve then noticed her idea would not work. "Umm, you could jump from the window sill to the beam over there them get to the hay loft." She paused. "But its a long jump." She said quietly.

"I will make it." He murmured back, springing to life. It took him only a few moments, but he found himself within the hayloft.

Nieve looked around quickly before padding quickly over to a nice sized hole in the barns wooden floors. She dropped down and padded through the dark crawl space. She hoped Oka would be ok.

Oka snuggled tightly under his stack of hay, tail tucked under him. He could hear the pack saunter in the barn, sniffing around. If only he could stiffle his fear scent completely...

Nieve stood as still as she-cat, her fur fluffed up along her back. The small white she-cat was terrified. Nieve tucked closer the a small pillar.

"He's not here, but he was." One said. The others muttered agreement and turned away, walking out.

Nieve sighed in relief but as she did her little violet bell jingled loudly as it hit a nail that stuck out. The small white cat froze her eyes wide with fear.

Everything froze for a moment. Pls cursed silently and wasted no more time, jumping down from the hayloft to father their attention, then running off madly for his life. If this works... then I'll be the only dog to purposely get his pack killed! He led them towards the home of the farmer.

Nieve popped her head out as the pack chased Oka. Her eyes wide with fear. She leaped out of the hole and raced after the pack. But she froze when a loud bang sounded. The bang cut the silent air in two. Nieve hoped her new friend was ok.

Oka had ducked out of view, just as the shots rang out. It hadn't mattered, though- his chest had a searing pain, but he ignored it, staying where the two-leg would see any approaching wolves, but couldn't see him, just below the deck.

Nieve gave a small meow as more bangs rang out. Once all was quiet the small white she-cat raced out of the barn and leaped into the deep snow. The she-cat looked around. "Oka!" She meowed.

Oka waited before responding. When he did, he kicked some dirt into the air, rather than doing something like barking in reply to cause attention.

Nieve leaped threw the snow towards her friend. The small cat suddenly tripped on something. She got to her paws and looked over her shoulder she gasped when she saw she had tripped on a rather mangy looking wolf. She gulped and raced over to her friend. "Are you ok?" She asked quietly.
