Coalstrike shifted his weight slightly and licked his chest fur that was already flat. The tom noticed that he was a fair bit smaller than Yellowtail and tried to make himself look a little bigger out of habit. It made him look kind of stiff and as though a small breeze would knock him over. "I can take you anywhere in these caves," He boasted, lifting his chin a little bit, "I'd love to take you right this moment; the sooner you can meet with StarClan, the better!"
Yewfoot quickly rolled onto her back and stretched out her limbs, laying spread eagle and watched Riverstep move towards Tawnystar. Now that the meeting was over, the gray she-cat felt her boredom slowly creep back into her body and she huffed a little bit. Maybe she could hunt; or perhaps she could find some other cat to bother. She managed to hear 'patrol' thrown about between Tawnystar and Riverstep, and immediately she yowled in response, "Oh please take me, I'm going to die of boredom if I'm left down here!" Yewfoot briefly thought for a moment that maybe she should stop listening in on so many cats' conversations; maybe she seemed a little bit intrusive.

(I seem to get busy once everyone else gets on, my apologies. xD) Yewfoot quickly clambered to her paws and strode over to the two other she-cats, almost giddy to get out of camp and out of the caves. It had been no lie, it had been quite some time since the clan had marked the above territory and she was anxious to see the above world. She padded closely after Tawnystar as the patrol left ensuring that she could see at least her tail tip or the backs of her paws. Once the tunnels became dark, her ears flickered for any sort of sounds; as long as the pawsteps and slight breathing of her clanmates were audible, she felt secure. The cold had crept in at this point and she felt her fur begin to stand. It wasn't long before she began to taste the fresher air, and she was sure Tawnystar was getting the brunt of the fresh wind that blew in.
Soon she watched her leader disappear, replaced with bright light from the surface -- the exit. Yewfoot stuck her head out of the tunnel and briefly looked around before pulling the rest of her body out of the cave system. She struggled a bit with her size, being slightly larger than the entrance, but eventually she popped out and shook her fur free of dust. With her thicker coat, the cold didn't seem to bother her quite as much as it did Tawnystar and Riverstep, but she did look quite a measure bigger with her fur standing on end. ------------------ Coalstrike nodded and moved toward the camp entrance with Yellowtail. "I'll be sure to take it a little bit slower with an esteemed guest in tow," he mused lightly, twitching his tail. He clawed at the stone ground a little, very anxious to get out into the winding network of the cave. Starpool sincerely wasn't a hard find from the camp, but it did have a couple twists and turns that would throw an inexperienced cat for a loop. "If you'll follow me," he gestured as he began to saunter out of the camp, "I'll leave my tail low once we get into the darker parts of the cavern, that way you'll be able to touch it with your nose and keep track of me. Be sure to keep close." He would never ever admit it to anyone, but he was a little nervous; he could hardly admit that to himself, to be quite honest. Coalstrike reassured himself; had made this journey before, even if not technically allowed, and he had been fine all those times back then. He glanced back at Yellowtail once more to make sure that the tom was following.

(What is the above ground territory like? Is it forested, fields, or something? I couldn't find it on the front page :S)
Yewfoot followed Tawnystar, parting her jaws to taste the air for suspicious scents. She held her tail fairly high and kept herself poised for response. She kept an eye on her clanmates as she moved toward the edge of the territory with them.

"Oh come on, Riverstep," Yewfoot chortled, "We hardly ever get out of camp and now you want to go back?" She flicked her tail at the blue tabby, keeping her eyes shifting across the territory. She did feel a little vulnerable out in the open like this, that much was true, but she was just excited to be outside of the camp and doing something else.
--
The jet-black tom chuckled a little bit, "No problem! I've noticed that not many cats enjoy the caves like I do; I kind of take it as my responsibility to teach cats about the tunnels and caves when I can." He lifted his chin a little and held his head high. Coalstrike eventually bounded down a small dip in the cave floor, pausing at the bottom and turning to Yellowtail to wait for him to follow.
"Here's where the cave gets too dark to see," he mewed, gesturing to the crevice that opened up along their path, "Stick close and remember to feel for my tail; there are a couple turns that are easy to turn down if you're not careful." He twitched his whiskers lightly and continued, "Any questions before we head in?

(Ah, no worries! That's really up to you though; if you'd like, we could find your cat above ground during our patrol and take you into the clan, since you put that your cat was previously a rogue, or you could just start as a warrior in the camp. It's whatever you feel best with!)

Yewfoot felt a pang of regret for teasing Riverstep and quickly reassured her, "It's good to remain vigilant though; it's very different up here from the caves and it's definitely unsettling." She leisurely moved close to a tree and rubbed herself from cheek to chest on the trunk, marking another point of their border. Upon hearing Riverstep's question, she looked at Tawnystar expectantly. "I've certainly never been beyond the borders," she responded.
--
Coalstrike kept his tail at what he hoped was a manageable height for Yellowtail to touch; he imagined briefly that he had to lean down constantly to touch it and he felt his back fur stand up a bit along his spine in response. He thanked StarClan that it was dark and no one could see his frustration. At least with his small stature, he didn't have to crouch. His ear tips didn't even brush the top of the cavern, although he assumed it was close.
"There's a sharp left up here, just so you know," He breathed, feeling his excitement grow. It wasn't very much longer before the Starpool would be in sight and it was absolutely a sight to behold. He felt the path grow wider to the left and his left whiskers no longer felt the cavern wall, telling him exactly where he was. "Yes, right here; this is the turn," he asserted, and quickly began to follow the next path.

Riverstep tipped her head in curiosity, staring into the distance. Suddenly, she felt the urge to run; to explore the lands beyond their borders. She quickly shook the thought away, though, and refocused. What am I thinking? I'm behaving like a kit. We can't just cross the border. She looked to the others. "We should keep going. We've got a lot of ground to cover."
Yellowtail envied the other tom just a bit due to his smaller stature. Yellowtail had always been a rather tall tom, albeit lanky. He managed in the tunnels, though, and kept close. "Alright. Thanks again, Coalstrike. You don't know what this means to me." He padded behind the tom, dipping to touch his tail here and there to make sure he hadn't lost him. "I wonder what StarClan has to say to me," he murmured, thought it was mostly an outward thought.

(I'm probably not gonna do much more with Yewfoot until Sparkly gets a chance to respond! P: ) Yewfoot hummed in agreement to Riverstep's request; she shivered slightly and noticed that her paw pads were a little numb. "Hopefully I don't make us move at a snail's pace; I feel like my paws are going to freeze off!" she chuckled.
--
"Don't worry about it; it's my pleasure!" Coalstrike beamed, feeling his pride warm him in the dank depths of the cave. He continued to feel the cavern walls with his whiskers, feeling for a gradual widening of the path. They were curving to the right slightly now, but this path was easy enough to follow and had no diversions or branches.
"You know, I bet StarClan'll be thrilled that we finally found someone to fill the medicine cat role. I feel like they get pretty lonely with no one to talk to," he joked lightly. He silently wondered if he should have told that joke, but then flicked it out of his thoughts with a flicker of his ear. His mind somewhat wandered as he moved through the network, feeling Yellowtail's nose on his tail tip every once in awhile; he felt a familiar sense peace wash over him as it always did when he wandered these caves. In his slight daze, Coalstrike suddenly did not feel the floor under his front paw any longer; before he could realize what was happening, he stumbled down a fairly sharp incline.
"Mousedung!" He cried, trying to catch himself before he tumbled all the way. He felt his paw twist and a sharp pain erupted from the joint as he caught himself. '"You've done it now, mousebrain," he thought as his skin burned under his pelt, hot from embarrassment more than the pain. "There's a bit of an incline in front of you, Yellowtail... uh, be careful," he mewed sheepishly, hoping that he would make it down okay.

Coalstrike stood to his paws, and winced slightly at the pain in his left paw. It wasn't anything awful and he could surely walk on it; the tom shook his pelt out knowing that there was quite a bit of dirt clinging to him, and adjusted himself. He heard Yellowtail's claws scuff on the sloped cavern floor as he moved toward him. He felt a twinge of disgruntlement when the medicine cat derailed his concern for Coalstrike in favor of the scent of water, but he let it go quickly; this was an important moment for Yellowtail and it really was Coalstrike's own fault for getting caught up in the moment -- his pelt still felt like it was on fire and he felt even smaller than normal. "Yeah, we're getting pretty close to the Starpool," he mewed, clearing his throat, "We have a branched path up ahead, this time to the right." He took a few steps forward, placing weight tentatively on his paw. "I'm feeling good; we can keep moving," he mewed.

Coalstrike laughed a little bit, and shook his head, "It might be strained," he admitted, lifting it slightly as Yellowtail sniffed his injury. "Unfortunately, we'd have to go back either way; I'd say we should keep moving to the pool so we can at least get something out of this." He lashed his tail at the thought of returning to the clan having failed; he was supposed to be best at this. "I'll be okay, really," he reassured, "Let's keep moving."
