Rabbitfrost nodded. "I would love to." He padded over to the fresh-kill pile and picked up a plump mouse, trotting back to Poppyshine.
Moonfrost took another ragged breath, staring at something nobody else could see. "Sunstar," she murmured. "It's good to see you again." She took one last shaky breath, and then became still.
"Moonfrost?" Emberstar mewed shakily. He stepped closer and buried his nose in her fur, the smell of death overwhelming him. He crouched beside his mother.
Skyflower stared, eyes wide. "No! Moonfrost, please, come back!"

[ Great, I'll jump right in then? - ]
Lichencloud, upon hearing the commotion and Skyflower's cries, rose his head from his deep sleep. It took a moment for the old tom to take in the situation, his heart dropping when he realized. For a heartbeat, Lichencloud closed his filmy eyes and sent a prayer to StarClan. Give her the love she deserves. She was a wonderful companion, a truly amazing cat. Dipping his head in salute and respect, he clambered to his paws and exited the den, sighing deeply as the ferns tickled his spine. "Well, that's a way to start the day." he murmured to himself, turning his head around to look for another cat to converse with or have a meal with.
Slatepaw slowly opened his eyes as the sun filtered into the den, and instantly his stomach grumbled. Yawning and then barely missing a beat, he hopped to his paws and skidded out of the den, eager to get a meal in before only the grossest or most ordinary pickings were left. As he trotted towards the fairly sized fresh kill pile and pawed through it in search of his favourite - starling - the thought crossed his mind that elders and queens should be fed first, and he even considered taking a squirrel or rabbit to the nursery, but it quickly passed when he started salivating at the sight and smell of the bird. Hungrily he dragged it out of the pile, beginning to feast on it as if he had not eaten in days - which was false, he had eaten in the middle of the night not a few hours ago.
As per usual, Ashenflight was out hunting, and the she-cat was just closing in on a sparrow when she heard the familiar crash of one making a kill. Her head jerked up, fluffy fur snagging on a branch overhead and making her wrestle free, which also alerted the previously unsuspecting bird, and it took flight. "Mouse-dung!" she cursed, jumping down from the lowhanging branch of the oak tree. Glancing around and peeking through the undergrowth, she spotted the thick white tip of a white tail that could only belong to Hawkpaw. "Anyone there?" she asked loud enough for the apprentice to hear.

Skyflower sobbed miserably over her mother's body.
Emberstar pressed close to his sister, trying to comfort her in any way he could.

Proudfalcon padded into the camp with his brother, Russetgrowl at his side. The two tom's fur was shaggy like they had gotten into a squabble on their way back to camp. Proudfalcon ignored his brother's smirks aimed towards his direction and glanced around camp. He shifted on his paws, frowning. It felt like something was wrong but he didn't know what. He shook his head and brushed past his brother towards his apprentice, who finally decided to wake up. "Good Afternoon Slatepaw," he meowed, narrowing his eyes at the young tom as he took in how Slatepaw was ravenously eating a bird. "Did you see if Shadowwing or Auburnshadow needed any prey?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He could see that Poppyshine was eating with Halfkit and Rabbitfoot.
Russetgrowl let out a low chuckle at his brother's attempts of avoiding eye-contact. He definitely won their little brawl in the forest fair and square. He swished his tail as he glanced around the camp, his green eyes were a little lively for someone who had been up since before the sunrise.
Ivyriver was lying outside of the warrior's den. The warrior was enjoying the warm rays on her pelt yet she was slightly shivering, mostly due to stress and sadness. 'Poor Emberstar and Skyflower,' she thought to herself as she rested her head on her paws. It was hard to lose family, especially when you didn't have much left. It was chilling to hear Skyflower's cries across camp. Sunclan would have to arrange Moonfrost's vigil soon, she could help gather the appropriate herbs if needed.

Slatepaw jumped at the sound of his mentor's voice and glanced up. "Oh- I..Uh-I." he stammered, debating whether or not to lie to his mentor. Seeing as Proudfalcon was smarter than he looked - his fur was unkempt and dusty, but Slatepaw had no room to talk, he hadn't groomed his yet this morning - and would obviously go approach the queens about it, he took the latter and ducked his head ashamedly. "No. But I just- I figured since prey is so abundant right now, it wouldn't be any harm." he muttered. The apprentice looked up timidly at the large tom and then quickly looking back down, awaiting his discipline.
"Woah- hey!" Bluefang stammered as she came out of the den and almost tripped over Ivyriver. The she-cat had spent a majority of the night working on her hunting skills, and even with dozing all morning, she was suffering from lack of sleep. You shouldn't be wearing yourself out, save all the work for Leafbare! She had scolded herself when coming back in just as the stars were fading out that dawn. "Are you feeling alright?" Her emerald eyes shone with concern when she noticed Ivyriver's forlorn state.

( I have to go but I will be back in a little bit )
Proudfalcon watched the young tom fumble around, trying to find his words. He shook his head and letting out a sigh, recongizing that Slatepaw was still young and that he had to withhold his temper. "Slatepaw, you have heard of the warrior code correct?" he asked wryly, like he was already tired from their brief conversation. "Elders and Queens must be fed first, or at least asked before you eat," Proudfalcon meowed, explaining.
Ivyriver jerked in shock as she saw Bluefang. She blinked and gave a small smile as she watched Bluefang. The dark grey she-cat shook her head and motioned towards the elder's den, "Moonfrost died a while," she meowed quietly. It sounded so much worse to say it out loud. It was finalizing the elder's demise. "Emberstar and Skyflower are with her now," she whispered.

Slatepaw huffed. "Yes, Proudfalcon, I know." he rolled his eyes, sniffing at the last remains of the bird and kicking it away towards the pile. He ground his teeth for a moment and squinted an eye at the body of the starling, thinking of putting it back in the pile, but positioning it in a way where one would think it was a full meal and then - ! No, that wouldn't be funny, it'd just get him into trouble. He shrugged. "I'll think before I act next time. Now can we go train?" The young tom scuffed his paws, walking past his mentor a few steps then turning back inquisitively.
Bluefang immediately frowned, casting a look towards the elder's den that Lichencloud was lurking near the side of. "Oh, StarClan's sake, I'm sorry to hear it....That's...It's a real shame when a good cat passes away." She murmured, trying to think of a way to comfort her companion. It's one less mouth to feed come the cold seasons. Her tail flicked and her ears slowly pinned to the back of her head and she knew that was wrong of her. Moonfrost was a treasured cat to the Clan, and it wasn't exactly fair that her time had come so soon. But was it soon? No, she she-cat was old, Bluefang was surprised she hadn't died sooner. Realizing she was getting lost in thought, she shook herself out of it and awkwardly crouched to press her nose into Ivyriver's shoulder. "It'll be okay. She's with StarClan now.." [ okay ! ]

Emberstar took a step back to let the medicine cat work, pawing at the ground agitatedly. "Please do everything you can, Honeyleaf." He choked back grief. "If anything, just don't let her suffer." Skyflower's legs shook and she crumpled to the ground beside her mother, trembling. Rabbitfrost trotted back into camp carrying two squirrels and looked at the commotion outside of the elders' den in surprise. He padded over to Poppyshine. "What's going on?" He asked the queen. Moonfrost gasped for breath, her entire body trembling with the effort. ( littlesong42 I am adding you now! Feel free to rp.) Thanks! Sorry, I didn't have internet for the whole weekend.))

Poppyshine nodded, and used her tail to escort Halfkit over to a sheltered part of the camp for the three to eat. She winced as Skyflower began to cry, Halfkit pausing with a frown on his scarred face. The blind-kit tilted his head just slightly, but went forward at Poppyshine's urging.
Lionfire's head fell as the other warrior began to cry. It was clear that Moonfrost had passed away...

Rabbitfrost followed Poppyshine and Halfkit, wincing at Skyflower's cries. He decided to try to keep Halfkit occupied, not wanting the kit to experience grief at such a young age. "Halfkit, you're about old enough to become an apprentice, aren't you?" He asked.
"Moonfrost, please, come back to us!" Skyflower wailed.
Emberstar pressed his nose into his sister's fur. "She's gone, Skyflower. She's with StarClan now."

"Yup," Halfkit responded, the blind-kit turning his head to face Rabbitfrost's direction. "I'm guessing I'll have to be the medicine cat apprentice." He said, tilting his head slightly as his ears laid back flat. His short tail twitched behind him, before the kit took a bite from his and Poppyshine's prey.
"Being a medicine cat is something to be quite proud of," Poppyshine told him warmly, before also taking a bite. The she-cat had managed to carefully lay down, the queen laying mostly on her side.
Hawkpaw jumped quickly, surprised by the sudden call of her name. "Oh! Ashenflight! I didn't even see you!" The tabby she-cat meowed, turning quickly as she spotted the warrior.

Ashenflight gave a half smile. "That's okay. What are you doing out hunting all by yourself?" She swished her tail, stepping over a few vines and twigs so she could be closer to the younger cat. It kinda comforted her not to be alone out here like she'd been all dawn. Maybe having a companion to speak and hunt with would do her mind well.

"I got up really early and I didn't want to bother Redwillow, so I decided to go hunting!" Hawkpaw replied, "Have you been out for a while?" The tabby asked, tail flicking over her back. She hadn't gotten far from where she had buried her squirrel, and her eyes flicked towards it. Maybe she could tell Ashenflight about it, Hawkpaw bet shed be impressed!

The gray cat looked at her paws for a second. "Uh, just a little bit." she mumbled. "How about you? Have you caught anything?" Ashenflight tilted her head kindly at Hawkpaw, trying awkwardly to keep up the conversation but she was kind of getting bad at it, as she hadn't a real conversation with anyone in awhile.

(Image won't upload for reference) || Mothwhisker|| She-cat || Expecting queen || A dark cream, short-haired she-cat with a white belly, chest and neck. She also has white on the tips of her ears, eyes, tail-tip, front toes and back feet. Smaller in stature, with long, wispy whiskers. and scars both on her left ear and back leg.|| Mothwhisker is easily defined as distracted and thoughtful. She’s very clever, but dangerously curious, often putting her in less than optimal situations. She’s always kind to her clanmates, but she instinctively extends that kindness to anyone outside the clan as well, as she doesn’t fully understand the dangers of outsiders. || Cloudwhisker (deceased brother) || She had a fairly typical upbringing in the clan with her brother Cloudwhisker and parents Iceflower and Otterpelt, but frequently got in trouble for sneaking off with her littermate when the rest of the clan was sleeping. The pair’s curiosity and sense of adventure was snuffed the day Mothwhisker returned with multiple scars and the absence of her brother. She solemnly informed the clan that they had been separated in a fox attack and she never found him. After Mothwhisker had become visibly pregnant, she has yet to claim anyone as the father. Many assume that the father is from outside the clan. || Sunshine || chewe817 ||

"Ya, I caught a squirrel and a mouse earlier!" Hawkpaw answered eagerly, happy to express how well she had done. "I actually just caught the squirrel a little bit ago, I buried it over there so I can come get it later." She told the warrior, gesturing towards the freshly-dug up pile of dirt with her tail proudly. "I was going to go around once more and see if I can find anything else before I go back. Do you want to come with me?"

Honeyleaf pressed her muzzle into Moonfrost's fur for a moment, saying a silent prayer for her. Then she turned to Emberstar and Skyflower. "Emberstar, you should select warriors to bury her, while I prepare her for the vigil," Honeyleaf advised, her voice soft. "Skyflower, if you are up to it, you can help me."
Redwillow stood outside of the warrior's den, already grieving silently for the dead elder.

Hawkpaw grinned, before looking around the forest. Her nose twitched rapidly as she scented out any prey nearby, before her eyes widened with a grin. "I think there's some prey over there." She said, pointing with her nose to over a nearby tree-covered hill. "On the other side I think, or at least there were some." The tabby told her, looking at Ashenflight for her input.

Ashenflight was surprised by Hawkpaw's instant skill in scenting prey, and capturing the creatures as well. "You're going to make a great warrior," she murmured, half to herself, as she recalled her and Russetclaw's first time hunting alone as apprentices. Russetclaw had shown off her skills and made Ashenflight feel inferior. 'It's okay!' Russetclaw had reassured her. 'You'll do better next time. And you're still the best apprentice any mentor could ask for, because you're Ashenpaw! The greatest climber and wrestler and hunter of all around!' Ashenflight fought back a sigh and forced herself to smile again at Hawkpaw. "Of course, let's head out that way then!" She followed the she-cat's instructions, padding ahead of her at a quick pace.
Auburnshadow sat near by, licking her paw and drawing it over her ear before she noticed Redwillow in her grooming. Heaving herself up over her belly, starting to swell, she dipped her head to the ginger tabby tom. "I heard what happened." She said sullenly, then headbutted the mourning tom's shoulder. "Would you like to go on a walk and maybe collect some lavender for her? I'm sure the medicine cats could use some help, and death isn't great to handle - especially when you're trapped in camp all day." She rolled her eyes, signalling to her kit-filled stomach.

"Is that what you want to do?" Rabbitfrost asked him. "Because if you would rather be a warrior, I'm sure we can make that work."
Emberstar nodded and looked around camp. "Ashenflight, Redwillow!" He called to the two warriors.
Skyflower nodded and got to her paws, her legs trembling.

Honeyleaf moved closer to Skyflower, letting her lean up against her. "Carry Moonfrost to my den please," she meowed to Emberstar.
Redwillow trotted to Emberstar, wanting to avoid looking directly at Moonfrost. "Yes?" he asked, dipping his head to his leader.

Halfkit gave Rabbitfrost a doubtful look, the one-eyed kit's ears leaning forward. "Right... Because a blind warrior would work out so well." He grumbled, taking a rough bite of the bird pinned under his paw.
Lionfire stepped back and out of the way, dipping his head in respect and sadness. He glanced around the camp, eyes meeting Poppyshine from her resting spot. He shook his head slightly, confirming what she already knew. The queen dipped her head slightly as well, and looked back towards the warrior and kit at her side to converse still.
Hawkpaw nodded, leading the way to the hill as she dodged among the trees, and set a steady pace towards it. She glanced behind her and grinned at Ashenflight, before beginning to climb up the hill.

Ashenflight surprisingly struggled to keep up, and by the time they were reaching the peak of the hill, she was panting. "You're...really eager...for that prey...aren't you?" she wheezed, taking a minute to catch her breath and sniff the air. The scent of a hare caught her attention. Hares were much bigger than rabbits, and hard to hunt. What if they were to catch it? The whole Clan would probably be proud of them. "Do you smell that?" Ashenflight glanced over at Hawkpaw.

Lionfire smiled back at the medicine cat, dipping his head slightly. "I just want to help my clan... It's sad to see Moonfrost go, she's been around since Poppyshine and I were kits..." He said sadly, looking towards the elder's body, before turning his gaze to focus on Honeyleaf.
Hawkpaw grinned at first, before taking what Ashenflight said seriously. The she-cat's ears perked, as she swiveled her head with a twitching nose. She nodded in agreement, eyes lighting up in excitement at the smell of the hare. If they could catch one, they'd be famous in the whole clan! And if she was famous in the clan, it wouldn't be that much longer after before she became a warrior! The tabby narrowed her eyes, looking down the slope to see if she could spot any movement or sign of where the piece of prey was hiding. Luckily they were downwind from it, and their scents weren't carrying down to the rabbit.

littlesong42 - [ I'm free with Auburnshadow and Lichencloud and I think Bluefang ~ ] @pinacolada [ An elder, Moonfrost just passed away so cats are in mourning and I don't think many of my characters are occupied so when you get accepted I can roleplay with you and depending on the development i'm willing for romance to occur. ] Quite quickly, Ashenflight spotted the dark creature flitting in and out in the fields about them. "I haven't hunted rabbits in awhile, especially a jackrabbit. They can be dangerous, can't they?" She admitted, obviously looking to the apprentice for the best method of how to take it down. It looked huge even from where they sat, so they didn't have much time to waste.
