You stumble alone through the dense woods, your head reeling with muddled scents and unfamiliar sights. Hidden birds scream loud alarm calls above your head, as the fur along your spine slowly rises. Then, something familiar reaches your nose: the smell of an ocean. The stinging breeze clears your head, and when you open your eyes the scene in front of you is breathtaking. Magnificent stone cliffs cascade downwards, and a sapphire ocean stretches as far as the eye can see. Below, crashing waves rock the sandy shoreline, and tufts of grass speckle the landscape in green. Further down the coast, small holes and pathways in the face of the cliff grab your attention. Figures move among the misty rock face- cats, their paws steady and strong.
“What do you think you are doing here?” An unfamiliar voice hisses from behind you.
Whipping around, you come face to face with a brilliant white she-cat. “Wh- what?” your voice trembles, filled with confusion.
“Don’t you know this is CliffClan territory,” her words seem foreign to your ears. CliffClan? Territory?
“Y- you live here?” Your eyes flicker back to the water-covered cliffs, dumbfounded at how a cat could manage to survive in such perilous conditions.
“Of course!” the she-cat looks at you with a puzzled expression. “Each cat in CliffClan chooses which camp they live in, whether it be in the deep pine forest, the overgrown oak woodland, or- if you want, the coastal cliffside.” Her eyes seem to cut through you, analyzing your every move. “I’m the leader here at the Beachside camp,” she hesitates, as if she’s unsure of her next move. “You can call me Snowstar.”
“Err- thanks, ma’am,” you mumble not sure why the leader would disclose the information to you, a mere stranger. Maybe it’s an intimidation move, you wonder.
“Don’t thank me yet,” with a soft sigh, the weight of leadership seems to fall across the young she-cat’s face. “I am aware that my camp has been relatively short on new members, and… well you seems to be surefooted enough to climb the cliffs without falling off.” With a wince, she meets your eyes. “I guess what I’m trying to ask is, are you willing to join CliffClan, the clan of heroes and legends?”
About the Rp: CliffClan began as a small clan I planned to make a couple years ago, and though the idea was solid, it never caught on. Recently I've felt inspired to create my own warriors clan, and figured that revamping this idea could be a ton of fun. Because I already worked out a lot of the territory and rank details this planning thread is more of fixing up the stuff I have and adding fresh ideas than it is coming up with all new stuff. However, this doesn't mean I'm not open to suggestions! Like I said, a ton of these details are old and dated, and if you have a creative way to spice them up, don't be afraid to share!
CliffClan is a clan divided across its territory into four different camps. Because of this, each camp functions like its own clan and competition between them is fairly common. However, all the camps are untied under one leader. Because of its complex system, the clans has been able to thrive for hundreds of years with little to no problems. This all changes when the current 'supreme' leader dies without naming a successor. Naturally, all three camp leaders feel like they should gain the title, and with no leader to hold it together the clan is closer than ever to shattering apart.
Finally, because of CliffClan's multi-clan system, the rankings are very different from the one's you see in the books. They break down like the following: 'Supreme' Leader: They are in charged of running all the camps and thus, have the most power and influence in all the camps. This cats also serves as the camp leader for the main camp, and after they inherit the title are forbidden to have romantic ties to anyone. The supreme leader receives nine lives from the ancestors and gain the suffix of -moon. They are also responsible for naming their successor out of one of the current camp leaders. Camp Leader: Each one is responsible for running and maintaining one of the four (technically three, since the supreme leader runs the main camp) camps of CliffClan. Usually the leader will choose a successor out of one of their kits, though there's no rule against choosing someone else. Though they don't receive nine lives, they do get the suffix -star and are the only clan members able to advance to Supreme Leader. Healers: They are responsible for healing all ailments of their clanmates, even if it risks their own life to do so. Though there can only be four healers in a camp, they are allowed to have romantic relations and bear kits. They do NOT communicate with the ancestors. Prophets: They are responsible for receiving and interpreting all signs from the ancestors from the safety of their dens. They are forbidden from having romantic relationships, and only one is allowed in each camp (not including an apprentice). Queens: They are responsible for raising all kits after they are two moons old no matter what camp they come from. The Queens only reside in the main camp, and though they aren't forbidden from having kits, they cannot raise their children after the two moon limit. Mothers: They are allowed to raise their own kits until they are ready to be handed over to the queens. Messengers: They are responsible for keeping all the camps united by visiting and advising all the camp leaders. Messengers have a rotation so that they change camps every moon and only four fully trained messengers should be at each camp at one time. They are forbidden from retiring until an apprentice has been trained enough to assume their place and are expected not to make alliances within a certain camp (though many do). Warriors: They are responsible for hunting and fighting for the clan Apprentices: They usually train for six or seven moons in order to become any role needed within the clan.; For the first four moons of their training, they rotate camps so they they get to experience all the places they could to choose to live. During this process, most apprentice's mentors change from camp to camp (with the exception of messengers), and thus many mentor\apprentice relationships aren't very good. After they finish their rotation, the young cats are expected to choose one of the four camps to finish their training and live out their lives in. Kits: They stay with their birthmother until they are two moons old, then they are sent to the queens. Elders: They are any rank of cat who has retired, and are responsible for burials and telling tales of history.
Helpers: If you're just popping in to help and don't plan on claiming any of the major roles, fill out the form below. Screename | Literacy Level (I'm looking for people who are at least semi-literate meaning they can have well-rounded characters and post at least three lines of text every time.) | Anything else
If you wants to try and get an important role such as camp leader, prophet, or messenger, fill out the form below. Screenname | Role you desire | Literacy Level (Please be prepared to type up at least five lines of text with well-developed characters.) | Roleplay Sample
Things I need help with: □ PLOTS~ I'm open to all of your ideas! Even though I may have the major plot figured out, that doesn't mean you can't suggest minor ones or share ways to further deepen the Supreme Leader one. □ Layout/Coding~ This is literally the one thing I can't do by myself cause I'm too lazy to teach myself. If you are skilled with layouts and graphics, don't be afraid to offer up assistance. □ Traditions~ I literally have nothing for this, so anything you can come up with is greatly appreciated. □ Territory/Landmarks. If you have any ideas for specific landmarks for any of the territories don't be afraid to share! □ History.....? Maybe??? I kinda have something for this, but I'm totally open for suggestions!

Alright thanks for taking interest! I was thinking we could start out with hammering out the plot just so we have a general summary. However, if you want I can post what I have for territory and such and we could begin by revising all of that.

If we did the territory first, maybe there could be some inspiration for minor plots. Just a question. If there's different camps, are romances between two camps forbidden?

Alright give me a second to pull that up.
Romances between camps aren't forbidden, however they are discouraged do to it being difficult for the pair to meet up unless one was a messenger.

Territory CliffClan territory in general divided into three major biomes: deciduous forest, pine forest, and coastal. In the center of the territory, a small lake sprouts from the main river. Though all the camps belong to the same clan, the different biomes cause some cats to view the others as rivals rather than allies.
The woodlands stretch across the much off the CliffClan border, making it the largest of the three biomes. Mostly composed of oak and maple trees, the ground is thoroughly shaded by the canopy. Nevertheless, many bushes and undergrowth thrive in the forest. The cats who live here are known for their silent pads and impressive tree-climbing skills. Many landmarks stretch across the woodlands including the following The Tree Graveyard: a small grove of ash and oak trees that caught fire during a lightning storm. Many burnt husks of these trees can be found, and the ground still has soot and ash from the fire. The Silent Grove: a stretch of woods made up of aspen trees. Strangely enough, no birds seem to nest there and the grove is unnaturally silent. Nevertheless, many mice and voles make their home among the overgrown brush. The Badger Den: old abandoned fox dens that have now been occupied by a fierce family of badgers. Though occupied by the fierce black-and-white creatures, many other predators have nested there in the past, and the land is forbidden to travel to by any young cat without battle training. Unfortunately, it is one of the few spots in the forest where catmint grows freely. The Osprey Nests: A stretch of trees near the coast where osprey’s nest. Experienced warriors may take the chance to steal an egg or two, but young cats are told to be wary of the raptor’s long talons. The Seaside River: The main river stretching from the lake down to the ocean. Many fish swim in the brackish waters and the banks are known for the abundance of herbs that grow on it’s shores. The Forest Camp: the second largest camp of CliffClan. The camp is hidden away in a grove of maple trees.
The pine forest sprout is the northeast section of the territory and provides for both the main camp and the shadow camp. Though some cats despise the prickle of pine needles under their feet, the cats of the pine forest seems to treasure the brushless territory. The cats that dwell among the pines are renown for their night vision and skills in stealth. A couple important landmarks are as follows. The Silver Meadow: a stretch of open land in the middle of the pine forest. New apprentices will often start battle training here, and a few hares have been spotted hiding in the grasses recently. The Owl Pine: a massive, dying pine tree in the center of the forest. Once a grand beacon of the forest the tree became infected and began slowly dying. It is inhabited by a grand owl, and all young apprentices are told to be on edge when near it. The Silent River: a small stream to the north of the territory. The currents are fairly slow, making fishing easy. A couple rarer herbs grow along the banks and small mammals like shrews and mice nest along the river. The Greenleaf Twoleg Nests: a patch of forest where Twolegs come to camp during the warmer seasons. During the wintertime, apprentices are taught snow-hunting especially in the areas cleared for tents. The Shadow Camp: the smallest of all the camps, it is located in a dense patch of forest where a dip in the ground protects the cats from violent winds. The Main Camp: Located just east of the Lake, the main camp is the largest of all the four. Made in a deep gorge, the main camp is easily the most protected too.
The coast is located in the south of the territory, and is the most interesting of all the biomes. A mix of sand and grass, the beach is fairly untouched by Twolegs, partially do the the frigid temperatures of the ocean waters. Cats of the coastal region are known for their strength and independence. A few landmarks include: The Cave: in the middle of the coastal territory, a large cave exists. Carved away from the ocean’s waves back when the tides reached further up the shore, the cave offers a form of protection from dangerous storms, and is one of the best places to find moss for nests in the sandy region. The Seashell Shore: located to the west of the territory, the shell-covered beach is known for, well, shells. Many Beachside Camp residence go to this shore to collect pretty shells to give to their mates and children. The beach is also a prime area for hunting crabs and other ocean dwelling creatures. The Tidepools: in the furthest corner of the coastal biome, countless tidepools form due to the lowering tides. Many fish and other aquatic creature are caught in these pools and are easy picking for CliffClan hunters. The Falling Cliffs: The cliffs that Give CliffClan its name resides right on the shoreline of the ocean. A deep fall downwards, coastal clan members dare to make their camp in the tunnels and holes in the cliff face, using worn paths to make their way up the dangerous drop. The Landbridge and Ocean Island: during the low tide a land bridge is formed from the coast to a small island named simply Ocean Island. Many aquatic birds nest on the shores of the island, and cats are known to make daring dashes to steal eggs and hunt on the island, they just have to make sure to get back across before the tide returns. The Beachside Camp: the cats who dwell in the coastal camp make their camp in the steep cliffs that give the clan its name. While other camps may scoff and comment on the risk the Beachside camp members take, the cats are proud of their daring nature, and the cliffs have become the only place they’d ever feel protected. I need to do some heavy rewrites here but for now this will have to do.

It seems really interesting. It's amazing that not everyone believes they're different Clans.

Here's some camp stuff that will probably change~ Main Camp The main camp is located in the pine forest, just east of the lake. The cats of the main camp settled in a deep gorge, once carved out by a massive river that dried up.
The leader’s den is made in the shadow of a massive rock, formed out of a small fern. The den can hold a maximum of four cats, and is designed for the Supreme leader to make decisions in solitude rather than with a team of other cats. When calling meetings, the leader jumps onto the neighboring boulder, a symbol meant to show his or her power over the clan. The Messenger's Den is located in the center of camp, woven out of bracken. The den has a capacity of eight cats, and even though there will only be four messengers in a camp at a time, the den is large enough for leaders and other important cats to ask the messengers for advice. The Healer’s den is located on the opposite side of the leader's den, and is a deep tunnel once used by foxes before the clan moved in. The den can hold up to fifteen cats, and has deep grooves in the walls for herb storage. A small pool of water and moss is kept in the corner in order to help with the healing of sick cats. Healer apprentices are expected to sleep in the den alongside their mentors unless there are an abundance of ill cats. The Prophet’s den is made out of a small rabbit burrow and only has enough room for two cats. The entrance is covered in moss, and smooth stones are brought in to help the prophet communicate with the ancestors. The Warrior’s den is made out of a fallen tree husk and can fit over twenty cats inside. There are two entrances, one that leads towards the fresh-kill pile and other dens, while the other one points towards the exit of camp. The Apprentice den is located next to the Nursery and is made in a clump of ferns. The den itself can room up to thirteen apprentices at a time. The Nursery is located in the dead center of camp and is made out of the same tunnels that the healer’s den is created from. The entire inside is covered in moss and feathers and can fit over twenty cats and kittens. Mothers stay here year-round whether or not they have kits that they’re actively raising. The Elder’s Den is located to the left of the healer’s den and is made in a patch of bracken that was previously the messenger’s den. The den can hold about ten cats.
Forest Camp The Forest Camp itself is made in a small grove of maple trees. The cats make their dens among the undergrowth and branches.
The Leader’s Den is located in a hollowed out hole in a massive maple tree. The den can hold only three cats, and most of the discussions the leader has with fellow clanmates are on the ground. Because the den is in a tree, it requires the leader to climb up the tree in order to reach it. When a leader grows old with age, often they will sleep in the undergrowth below, rather than risking the climb. When the leader calls a meeting, they climb to the high branches and address the cats from there. The Messenger's Den is located at the foot of the maple where the leader makes their nest. A deep fox burrow was converted into a spacious den with plenty of room for all the messengers. In total, the den can hold a maximum of ten cats, although it is uncommon for one to see more than seven carry on a conversation inside it. The Healer’s den is located on the opposite side of the camp, near the fresh-kill pile. The den is shaped out of ferns and bracken, and settled in between the roots of two massive trees. The healers are able to store wet moss in the cool shade of the roots, as well as store herbs in crevices. The Healer's den can hold around thirteen cats at a time. The Prophet’s den is a solemn thing located away from all the other dens. It is made out of a small shrub, and can only hold around three cats at a time. Inside, feathers and other small treasures are kept in order to keep the connection between the prophet and the ethereal spirit realm. The Warrior’s den is much like the Healer’s den in sorts of structure. The cats of the Forest camp pulled thick bracken over the tall roots of the maple trees, making enough room for twenty cats. The Apprentice den is located in a clump of ferns near the camp entrance. Inside, small clumps of moss make up small nests on top of the uneven ground. The den can hold around twelve cats. The Nursery is located next to the warrior’s den in a section of the roots, hollowed out in order to make room for the birth mothers. The den itself isn’t made with much care, and was designed only hold mother and kits up to three moons old. Because of this, only a few feathers and other luxuries can be found amongst the moss. The Nursery holds about seven cats. The Elder’s Den is made in the shadow of the leader’s den. Made in a den formed out of brambles and bracken, the Elder’s den is one of the most sheltered dens in the forest camp. On the side facing the tree, healers often keep stashes of herbs in the roots, so that in times of crisis, they will have all the supplies they need. The den can hold around eight cats.
Beachside Camp The Beachside camp is the most identifiable of all the four camps. The dens are made in in small caves on CliffClan’s iconic cliffside and small winding paths are used to connect them.
The Leader’s Den is located in the highest den on the cliffside. Though the entrance of the den is large and open, the den itself is fairly small and can only fit four cats in it at one time. When calling a clan meeting, the leader exits their den and leaps on top of a small rockpile gathered on a large ledge further up the cliff face. The Messenger's Den is located at the both of the cliff, the cave being right next to the path that leads up the cliff. This allows for easy exit and entry for messengers who aren’t as familiar with climbing. The den itself can hold a maximum of eight cats, though it isn't ideal for conversation due to its proximity to the ocean. The Healer’s den is located halfway up the cliffside and is adjacent to the warrior’s den. The cave is by far, one of the largest and healers are able to stash herbs in the many cracks and crevices of the rock walls. Near the back of the den, a pool of water is kept as well as a fresh store of moss. The Healer’s den can hold up to thirteen cats at a time, though in the case of an epidemic, healers are more likely to move down towards the beach, rather than risk any of their patients having to make a difficult climb. The Prophet’s den is located at the very bottom of the path, near the Messenger’s den. It is a small cave, only being able to hold one or two cats, but shells and seaweed are used to decorate it, making it seem less lonely. The Warrior’s den is located just above the healer’s den, and is massive in size. Though once believed to have an entrance into a tunnel system, the den is pretty mediocre, not being used for anything besides sleep. The warrior’s den can hold a maximum of eighteen cats at one time. The Apprentice den is a small tunnel, just before the leader’s den and nursery. The entrance is covered in moss, making it difficult for older apprentices to squeeze through, but once passed this initial discomfort, the den can hold over twelve apprentices. The Nursery is a small thing, being made in a cave in between the leader’s and apprentice’s dens. Inside, the rock walls have been coated with fresh moss, and bracken has been used to form nests. The den itself can hold around four nursing mothers and their kits. The Elder’s Den is the first den on the path up the cliffside, and by far the cleanest. No musty odors creep from its corners and only the crisp perfume of ocean salt can be detected. Though the den itself is fairly minimal in appearance, it can hold up to ten elders at a time.
Shadow Camp The Shadow Camp is the smallest of the four camps, due to the fact that it is located in a narrow river gorge. Because of its small numbers, the cats of the Shadow Camp have learned to use their brain rather than brute skills to over power larger enemies. The Leader’s Den is located next to the entrance of the camp, in the belly of a fallen tree. The leader’s den , though not the only den located in the pine, is the most identifiable. Across the top of the entrance scratch marks are visible, these marks are made as soon as a new camp leader assumes the role. When calling a clan meeting, the camp leader leaps up on top of the tree and addresses the clan from there. Though relatively small, the den can hold up to five cats. The Messenger's Den is located on the opposite side of camp, in a dense bush. Though, most of the den has been fitted with moss and feathers, a few prickly branches still stick into the meeting area. Though too fancy, the messenger’s den can hold up to seven cats. The Healer’s den is located amongst the roots of a pine tree that grows just above the gorge. Dried bracken is used for walls, and the healers are able to stash herbs in cool crevices between roots. The Healer’s den can hold about eleven cats at a time. The Prophet’s den is the smallest den in the fallen tree. Located in what used to be an owl’s nest, the den can only fit two cats at a time. Nevertheless, the interior of the den is decorated with fresh flowers and shiny pebbles in order to help the prophet connect with the ancestors. The Warrior’s den is located in what used to be a fox burrow. The den, once abandoned, was widened in order to compensate for all the cats. The warrior’s den can hold up to twenty cats. The Apprentice den in made out of a small clump of ferns next to the Elder’s den. It sits in the shadow of the fallen tree, and although it appears to be small, can actually hold a total of twelve cats at a time. The Nursery is located directly under the fallen tree and strung together out of fallen twigs and bracken. The inside is covered in fresh moss and soft feathers so that queens and kits are as comfortable as possible. The den can hold a total of five full grown cats at one time. The Elder’s Den is located to the left of the nursery and made up of the same materials. Inside fresh moss is placed to make soft beds and wet moss is kept fresh in the corner. The den can hold a maximum of ten cats.
