"[RiverClan] had accused WindClan twice more of stealing fish
and threatened to tell the other Clans that the cats on the
moor were thieves and trespassers. As
if any WindClan warriors would get
their paws wet chasing that slimy prey!
Duststar had decided that the only way
to stop the complaints was to teach
RiverClan that WindClan cats were
strong enough to catch their own
prey—and well-enough fed not
to need anyone else’s." Code of the Clans, Page 13
A Few Pages Later...
Duststar shook his head. “No, Emberstar, that’s not why I
asked you all to come here. Ryewhisker’s death is a tragedy we
can ill afford after such a hard leaf-bare, but it would not have
happened if he had not been . . . attached . . . to Cloudberry.” Code of the Clans, Page 16
So. Let's review. Ryewhisker and Cloudberry are from different clans and in love. Then RiverClan and WindClan get into a fight over whether or not WindClan is stealing RiverClan's prey. They fight. WindClan tries to retreat, but RiverClan keeps attacking. Cloudberry is attacked by Hawkfur (A WindClan warrior) and Ryewhisker defends her. Hawkfur yells at him and Ryewhisker admits that he and Cloudberry are having kits. Ryewhisker is then killed by a random RiverClan warrior. And that is how we know loving someone in another clan is bad and Ryewhisker's death would have been avoided had he not loved Cloudberry. They could have just as easily touched upon the mess that happens when you and your lovers clan meet in battle, or how it can interfere with the clan's greater good. But no. The reason forbidden love is forbidden is because a random warrior got killed by another random warrior. Wow. I love Code of the Clans, but...wow.

Yeah. If you ask me, it's a bit of a shoddy reason.
