Some people can definitely take it too far with the "You're not allowed to exist if you share the same kintype as me" thing or the relating to/imagining that they were the Sun or something in a past life, but in general, I'm honestly fine with it. Prefer not to talk about it in online circles, though, because I never know what other people's opinions on it will be. Questioned some kintype stuff before myself, definitely.

It's most definitely not valid and I find it kind of insulting tbh. Most people who identify as something fictionkin claim to also have DID and "head mates" because they really relate to a character and somehow that makes them that character. It's really insulting to people actually diagnosed with DID for them to act like that, and I think it's pretty pathetic as well for them to do it. Im trying really hard to be unbiased, but my thoughts exactly

I don't really understand it to be honest but from, what I think it is, I dislike it. You're human. If you were anything else, you wouldn't be conscious. You wouldn't even be dead because you're not living. I'm not transphobic and I know this sounds kinda weird when I claim I'm not, but I hate it. I just can't explain it.

personally, i don't understand it. it's one thing if you can personally relate to something, but physically identifying as something like that is undoubtedly a little strange.
i have a friend who identifies as such and offered to explain it to me. so, some people that identify like that use it as a way to cope with their mental illnesses. and while i understand they don't mean to harm anybody by doing this, from a medical standpoint it's not very healthy. and while i really don't care all that much as to how people identify, i feel like there should be a line somewhere.

But yeah, I'm not the type of person who genuinely believes that they are the character in question, I just relate to them incredibly deeply.

Tbh I've never really felt drawn to it at all, but I'm not about to bash other people's interests/feelings? If they're into it then go right ahead.

Personally, I'm alright with it. So long as you aren't hurting anybody then believe whatever you want to believe. There are definitely some kinfolk who push it a bit, but there are people like that in every community. The most vocal people in a community are often the most toxic, and the otherkin community is definitely no exception to that.
Though bear in mind this is coming from somebody who formerly identified as otherkin, so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. Potential personal bias and all.
