Layla took in the girl and blinked. If this was a bad hair day, well, Hazel would make everyone in the pack look horrible on a good day. Layla had to resist reaching up and adjusting her hairband. Instead, Layla smiled and nodded as if she understood. "It happens to the best of us." She said, tucking her list away in her dress pocket. She turned and started to walk down the dirt path. It was a good five minute walk to the edge of town, if they picked up the pace. It was be more like ten minutes at a casual walk. Not that Layla was worried. There was no rush to get there. It was cool despite it being summer. The sound of the forest relaxed the werewolf. She breathed in, only expecting the scent of the forest. She froze when she caught the scent of an unknown werewolf. Her arm reflexively swung out in front of the younger member.
What really set her on edge was the fact that the scent was too fresh for the werewolf to be far. "Do you smell that?" She asked as she scanned the road and surrounding woodland. She could feel her wolf bubbling up to the surface. She pushed it down as far as she could and took a deep breath. They were close enough to run if it was rogues. They could get to the pack house safely. She repeated these thoughts until she could feel herself relax a fraction.

Amanda stopped, and sniffed the air again when she smelled two pack wolves nearby. "Must be near a pack house or something." She mumbled to herself out loud as her wolf became nervous as she was. "It's okay Piper I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't have followed us this far." Amanda said to her wolf Piper in her head. "Well we can't be sure what if this pack will treat us like they did?" Piper asked back which made Amanda stiffen a little.

hazel ruth janna Hazel smiled gratefully at the girl's understanding, looking at her outfit for a moment. Hazel wished she could pull off outfits like that. "Your dress is absolutely adorable. Does...does it have pockets?" she gushed, blushing ever so slightly for Hazel was rather shy when it came to other people. She was about to continue, when she became aware of the scent right before Layla mentioned it.
She inhaled deeper, gaze narrowing faintly. Who could this stranger be? They were obviously still nearby. "Yeah, I smell them. But I'm guessing they're heading away from town, so if we head toward it, we should be fine. Come on," she said, careful not to command anything, starting to walk again, head up and eyes roving warily across the landscape.

Simon had just gotten back from the store, having run to the grocery store to get the groceries for the next few days. He never realized how much wolves ate until it was his turn to go and get the groceries. Literally the entire car- a Kia Sportage- was filled with groceries, and he had bought everythign he could think of the pack needing. He bought three different kinds of lunch meat, five different kinds of meat for the week, fruits, veggies, pasta, flour and sugar, really anything and everything he bought and he got enough to feed a small army. And yet he knew that it'd be gone within the week. He paused as he drove up to the manor, biting his lip.
It was still weird, coming back here. He'd left with the intention of never coming back, and then he was brought back here nearly dead. During that month both of his parents had died, so at least he didn't come back to an angry father. He felt guilty about feeling that way, but he did. He knew what his father thought about deserters like Simon, and thats why he'd barely talked to his sister since his return nine months ago. He didn't know where they stood, and was a little worried about what she actually thought. It was odd, really, because she was everything that their father had expected Simon to be, but he'd gotten over that a long time ago. For the most part at least. With a sigh Simon got out of the car, wincing momentarly before pulling as many bags as he could out so he could carry it in quickly.

Clover; People are already getting food, but it's fine if there is some extra. Just means there will be enough for two weeks. ^^ )
Layla nodded after a second of hesitation. She felt like she should protest, but she didn't want to have to go back. She was putting her faith in Hazel's words. "I suppose." She slowly lowered her hand, feeling a bit foolish for putting it up. She was sure the medic could defend herself, yet the need to protect flared up. With the rogues running around, Layla figured you couldn't be anything but careful. She took one more look in the forest. Nothing. She trotted to catch up to the other girl.
"Thanks for the comment about the dress." She said with a grin, "The pockets are really what caught my attention. You never see pockets in women's clothing. Plus, I loved the flowers." Her rough voice was lighter now and her arms were relaxed at her sides. Her eyes still scanned their surroundings. That is when she saw a flicker of something in the forest. It took a couple of seconds for her to identify that the dark shape was not her imagination. She continued to watch it as they walked along. This time, she kept the information to herself. The wind wasn't blowing the right way for her to identify it as the unknown werewolf, but some instinct told her the shape was one. Not to alert anyone, she continued to speak, "What you are wearing is nice too. For a bad day, you doing great."
---
If Inara had known it was Simon coming back, she would have sent another member to help unload the car. She had heard the rumble of a car and quickly put on someone else's flip flops. She was afraid it had been more people turned around, or members of the public wanting to talk about a new event in town. She wanted to be the first to face these types. These people weren't bad, but they really shouldn't get close to the house. Mistakes were made. Namely when two werewolves in wolf form ran down the stairs and out the door. It was a headache to try to solve that one. Now, standing and watching the car roll in, She was not sure which one she wanted right now, Simon or the townsfolk. She was leaning toward the townsfolk because she knew how to approach them. It had been awkward around Simon since he had left.
As much as she tried to wipe the thoughts away, the hurt remained. She was ashamed that she didn't help and upset Simon didn't tell her he was leaving. They hadn't talk about it, ever. By the time he had returned, she was the alpha and the former beta had passed away. It had been a little hard to forgive him, even if he had lost more than she had. "I'll help." She said, brushing past Simon and grabbing two bags for each hand. She kept her eyes on everything but her brother.

hazel ruth jannna Hazel relaxed slightly as they began to move forward, putting more distance between herself and the unknown, the wind blowing the scent away from her. She hoped that meant they were truly leaving. She smiled when Layla caught up to her, linking arms with the friendly girl. Hazel loved everyone in the Pack House, and was known for her displays of love, whether it was holding hands or giant bear hugs out of seemingly nowhere. She bumped the girl lightly in the hip at the thanks, grinning warmly. She nodded in agreement at the pockets comment, shrugging slightly.
"It's how they're able to sell us bags so easily," she sighed, looking at the flowers with a small smile. She blushed, pausing slightly at the compliment, a shy smile on her face. Hazel never really knew how to accept a compliment. To her, it felt like a vending machine trying to accept a crinkled dollar; frustrating for all involved. "Oh, no, not really. My hair is a mess, and you look so pretty all dressed up like that. I didn't even try to make it look better, really," she tried to dismiss the compliment, pushing stray strands of hair from her face yet again. "But uhm, thank you?" she smiled nervously, head tilting slightly as she questioned herself, unsure if thanks was the proper response. However, she noticed the girl looking at something in the distance, and her hazel gaze travelled swiftly across the landscape, coming to land on the same dark shape. Her eyes narrowed, wishing the breeze would pick back up again and blow the scent in their direction. It was eerily quiet out, and there was no breeze. It sent the hairs on the back of her neck bristling. She bared her teeth slightly, pulling her arm free from Layla.
"I don't mean to alarm you, but do you see that shape over there?" she gestured with her head, not pointing and continuing to walk as if it were no big deal, though her body was rigid, posture alert and tense now. "What do you suppose it is?" she asked in a low tone, not tearing her gaze away from it, disliking the feeling in her gut.

Amanda heard voices and looked in the direction and saw two dark figures walking a path. She slowly followed them where she was hoping that she was close to town. She stretched and took of tje black jacket she was wearing and ted it around her waist. The shirt she was wearing underneath was a black t-shirt with a skulls all over it.

(Okay. It could be Simon just not communicating with the others so he got food ^^)
Simon startled at the voice, blinking in surprise when he saw that it was his older sister was offering to help. He really didn't expect that. Honestly he'd been avoiding her the best he could, things were incredibly awkward between them since he'd been forced back into the pack. Not that he'd actually been forced to rejoin, it was more like he couldn't really be out on his own for the time being. Honestly once he was able to care for himself, figure things out on his own with his new... condition, he wasn't sure if he was going to stay or not. But now he had to make himself a part of the pack again, although he didn't talk to a lot of them unless if he was talked to first.
"Oh. Um. Thanks. Perishables are in the front," he mumbled, knowing there was a lot of stuff. He felt the awkwardness in between them, he felt the resentment and the hurt but he didn't know how to actually bring it up. He'd let his sister bring it up if he wanted to. He was still walking with a limp, a reminder of the stupid mistake he'd made those months ago. Of course Simon felt guilty for just leaving, not even telling her what he was feeling, but he felt like she wouldn't have understood because she was basically everything that father had wanted. He made his way into the house, unsure how to speak with her now.

Lyala happy strolled along with Hazel. She lightly bumped hips back. She liked being close to the other members, even if she didn't get a chance to show it much. It was something she had missed in college. That and dog piles. At first, she had been hesitant to join in such things, even if she longed for them, as it was odd to mix with another pack. She soon got over it when the weather turned cold. She was known for having cold fingers even on sunny days.
Layla hummed in agreement. She didn't have many bags herself. She refused to buy anything that did not have working pockets. It was annoying, but she won't accept anything else. She grinned and shook her head at Hazel's nervousness. How she managed to be the brightest one in the pack and then the shyest ones was beyond her. She smiled at the girl as she spoke, hoping to calm her a bit. This seemed to have the opposite effect as Hazel pulled away. Hurt flashed through her mind until she noticed the direction Hazel was looking. Layla spun around and watched as the shape approached. She bared her teeth with long, sharp canines showing. She let herself sit on the edge of transformation.
"I think it's one of the rogues." Layla said, finally voicing her worries. The figure was too human-like to be an animal and the fresh scent of an unknown werewolf lingered in the air. She glanced around to check if there were anymore. Luckily, this one seemed to be a loner. That didn't mean Layla would calm down. She stood rigged and in a slightly bent position, ready to fling herself at the intruder if it turned out to be a threat. "Don't come any closer." She barked at the stranger.
--
Inara made no more sounds as she carried the groceries in. Even with two people working, it was some time before all the food was brought in and sorted. Just getting in all the bags was work for half a dozen people. Eventually, they did finish. She set the last bags on the table with a sigh and took a step back. Plastic bags lined the table and chairs. Some spilled onto the floor. A small smile threatened to cross her face. Of course the first trough that came to her mind was, Goodbye planet. This wasn't exactly funny, but after having to work under pressure, anything was funny to the alpha. She was pretty sure the pack must use hundreds of plastic bags. Of course, they have tried to use other methods, such as reusable bags, but the bags get used for other things. She knew one was hiding snacks in her room.
She looked to the kitchen then to her brother. "You know Layla just going to come back and undo all of the work we put into this." She weakly joked. It was the truth. The resistant chief was picky on how everything was placed. Inara once watched someone try to move things around. To this day, she hadn't seen a fiercer glare than the one Layla had given to the poor were.

Amanda looked at Layla and tilted her head to the side in confusion. "That's my line I should be saying to you." Amanda said as she walked past Layla to get some food. "I'm not a threat." She spoke again before she put her black jacket on. "Just trying to survive." She added.

hazel ruth janna Hazel widened her eyes at Layla's reaction, laying a firm hand on the girl's shoulder to help ground her. "Hey, they may just be a town's person," she said in a low voice, forcing her face to be more open, more friendly. After all, if this was just a poor human, they didn't need another mess on their hands. Inara would kill them. Of course, the scent of werewolf was strong, and it wasn't a familiar one. "Or, you know, someone that's just been attacked and is seeking help," she shrugged slightly, now back to her normal, approachable self.
"I apologize for my friend," Hazel called to them, lightly elbowing Layla, shooting a glance at her that read "relax, or we might both end up in trouble". She began to draw closer to the stranger, who appeared to be dressed in all black. "Uhm, are you lost?" she asked anxiously, praying that was all. She hated confrontation, and she hated meeting new people, but right now she had to step up and take lead to ensure that Layla would remain calm. She flashed a smile more confident than she truly was, canines sharp but not elongated, smile pearly white. She took pride in her dental care. "We'd love to help you out, in any way possible, if that's alright with you," she said, a little softer now, coming to a stop several feet away. She adjusted her bag, waiting.
However, once the stranger pushed past Layla, Hazel couldn't hide the faint growl that emitted from low in her throat. "Uhm, excuse me, that wasn't very polite of you," she said, voice a little sharper now, eyes narrowed and hints of blue peeking out. "We're all just trying to survive too. I'd like to help you. We're going to get food now, and we can escort you to town," she said, though it wasn't really an offer. She was just pretending to be polite. Either way, Hazel wasn't letting this stranger out of her sight. She began walking at a fast pace, catching up quickly with the stranger.
"What's your name?" she inquired, still on guard but drawing a little closer to the new face, glancing back to Layla for support.

Simon chuckled at the amount of plastic they used, knowing that this was incredibly bad for the environment. You know all those adds about people ruining the planet with their use of plastic? Yeah, Simons theory was it was really the werewolf packs that basically destroyed the planet with the use of plastic bags. He was joking, of course, but they really did use a lot of bags.
And then... Inera... joked with him? Simon seemed to startle at the joke as he began to put away all of the plastic bags. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. That's why we don't put anything anywhere," he responded with a low chuckle, a small smile on his features.

Layla blinked. Everything was wrong about this. Women shows up wearing all black while wandering in a forest does not spell out friendly or safe. The only people who wander in forests were hunters, werewolves, and the occasional stupid teenager. There were too many rumors of wolves for any sensible town person to stray in the woodland. She was too old to be a teen and black was not hunter attire. She was defiantly a werewolf and her scent confirmed it. Layla's eyes narrowed from under the contacts. To add to the problems, the girl wasn't hurt, the smell of blood was not in the air and neither was the girl walking oddly. She could still attack. Despite these facts, Layla stood down, with a hurt pride.
She didn't like the fact that Hazel was upset with the way Layla had acted. She had just meant to protect them. She had to admit, she was too jumpy after staying in the house for so long. Her mind had twisted the world to seem full or rogues. She had to remind herself that she use to be an outsider and that outsiders weren't necessarily rogues.
She shook her head and let the two walk on. She was almost tempted to try to break off from the girl. Hazel's glance back erased all thoughts of leaving from her mind. She sighed and quickly caught up to the pair. She stuck to Hazel's other side. Crowding the unknown were might cause her to snap. She stayed silent, content to just listen.

hazel ruth janna Hazel couldn't just let her guard down around this stranger, for a number of reasons, but the greatest being how...rude this girl was. She couldn't seem to give them the time of day, and clearly she understood she was on their territory. She was glad Layla caught up to her, for she appreciated the support and strength the girl provided. She linked arms once again with a soft smile, letting the girl know that it was okay and she wasn't mad, not even in the slightest.
"Okay 'just getting food', where you from? And where are you heading?" Hazel teased lightly, smile friendly but eyes dangerous. She didn't trust this girl or her attitude. Plus, she looked awfully sketchy. She tilted her head slightly, appraising the girl for a moment. She could probably run fast enough to get away if things escalated, but she knew she wouldn't be able to just leave Layla here to fight, because Layla would stay. She also knew that Inara had strictly forbid her from fighting, since she was currently the only medic, and that she would be in deep trouble if anything did happen, even if she was okay. She couldn't directly disobey her alpha.
So, she merely smiled, keeping on guard but remaining kind as ever.

Inara felt a flash of happiness when she saw her sibling smile. It may be small, but it was something. A small smile grew on her face as she shook her head. "I wish, but I would hate for things to spoil. Layla isn't around for to organize things. We will just put away the cold stuff." She said, deciding to omit that Layla was also going for food.
She started to bring all the frozen and fridge food to the kitchen. "Thanks for getting all of the food." She said. She felt like she was talking too much, but she didn't want silence to fall again. She didn't like things being so awkward and fragile between them.

"Born in a pack from the mountains leys just say because of my wolfs fur color I wasn't exactly well liked." Amanda explained as she looked back at the two females. "I guess you could say that a family member of mine betrayed me and caused the pack to chase me out." She added as she looked away. "Haven't been back to the pack since not planning to go back at all." She finished as she followed the two females.

Layla was glad Hazel knew what to say and that the girl wasn't angry with her behavior. She now appreciated all the talking Inara did to the new members and whoever managed to come around to the pack house. She was close to just leaving Amanda or snapping at her. She didn't seem rude, at least not to Layla. She seemed more reserved and quiet. She seemed to hold a lot back and not show much. It was unwelcoming, to say the least. Layla felt like they were wasting her time as well as theirs. Still, she would stay. She couldn't leave Hazel, not alone with a potential threat. She would just have to stay and pretend they were escorting a potential threat out of their territory.
Layla looked at Hazel when Amanda spoke of her old pack. Now, she felt horrible for being so aggressive. Being chased out of a pack can be crushing for some. Betrayal by some one close, that was even worse. "Are you looking for another pack?" She asked softly yet not weakly. This was a pretty serious question. This story could be a lie and Layla would hate to lead the wolf to the coop of chickens. She almost hoped the answer was no so they wouldn't have to turn her around and bring her to Inara. she mostly just asked because she felt bad.

"Thanks for the offer, but I prefer being alone ever since I was born I alwaysed believe that if there were other werewolf packs besides the ones in the mountains that they would treat me the same way my birth pack did." Amanda explained as she stopped, and looked at Layla with a hint of loneliness in her eyes. "Plus I would rather not be called names because of my wolf's fur color." Amanda added quietly as she looked down to rhe ground.

"Yeah, good point. " He responded, beginning to grab some of the eggs and milk, putting it in the fridge and offering her a slightly bigger smile at the thanks. "Of course. I just want to do whatever I can to be helpful to the pack," He responded, hating how fragile their relationship was. At one point they had been incredibly close, and Simon idolized his big sister, but slowly they just began to grow apart, and (although he was ashamed to admit this), he had grown resentful towards her because of her successes and how their father constantly compared the two of them. He sighed at that, glad that the beta was gone now and wouldn't see what Simon had actually become.
He bit his lip at that, the smile fading as he grabbed the ice creams and set them in the freezer, trying to think of where Layla would put everything. It was so weird, because he still felt like a stranger in his own house, even though when he had left it had only been for a month. Perhaps it was because he was still trying to earn the packs trust again.

hazel ruth janna Hazel slowed in her walking at Amanda's story, turning her head to look up at Layla, most of the blue gone by now, the same compassion reflected in her own gaze. She knew how hard it must be for Amanda to admit this to them, and she wanted to let the girl know she appreciated her honesty. However, Layla went ahead and asked her the trickiest question out there. It made hazel a little nervous, because they didn't technically have permission from Inara, but she dismissed the thought, figuring they could at least let the girl know they were nearby if she wanted to be introduced or consider joining.
When Amanda stopped, Hazel stopped as well, arm still linked through Layla's looking at the girl with a mixture of pity and anxiety. She was quiet for a moment before she reached out, placing her free hand on Amanda's shoulder. "I'm sorry you fear that, and I'm sorry your old pack made you fear that. I'm sure your fur is beautiful. If you change your mind, just come back into our territory about where we first noticed each other earlier, and someone will find you so you can meet Inara," she offered, squeezing lightly. She gave the girl a soft smile, dropping her hand quickly.
"Now then, do you have a preference which type of grocery store you use?" she grinned slightly, turning to start walking again, not wanting to push the girl too much.

Layla was left silent as Amanda voiced her fears. She caught the loneliness in Amanda's eyes and had to look away. She had never experienced such a fear and couldn't fully comprehend Amanda's worries. When Layla had been without a pack, she was happy to join another. Then again, Layla had never been in a abusive pack. Her first pack had sent her off with well wishes, not with blood and the promises of death. There were pack members who had experienced this and had joined the pack still. She opened her mouth to mention this and then thought better. She thought everyone would still long for a pack, even after an unfortunate previous pack. But everyone does have their own reasons and Layla felt like they had pried enough into Amanda's mind. She was glad Hazel seemed to know what to say.
Layla welcomed the change of topic. This was something she was very dedicated to. Not that there was much to be dedicated to. There were only two, three if you count the market, places to buy food. "Normally, I would recommend the market, but it is only up on Saturdays. Bob's is honestly the best place with the sales and it's local. But Saveway does have a larger selection." She trailed off, unable to make a choice. Honestly, she was going to go to Bob's because money was tight, but Saveway was larger. She didn't know if Amanda wouldn't like the small stores.
---
Inara's grin fell as the room slid back into an uneasy silence. They worked silently and oddly coordinated as they put away the rest of the things. She wasn't surprised. It was to be expected. Their father had trained them together. It seemed even time couldn't erase the hours spent tracking in the woodlands or playing in the yard. At least, she hoped it wouldn't. She bit her lip as she tried to think of something to speak to him about or something to do with him. Anything too physical was out. She would not be the one to get Simon sick or hurt. She wouldn't risk such a thing. Perhaps a walk. That seemed safe. Would it be weird to ask? Another wave of anxiety washed over her as she realized she knew nothing about Simon anymore. Did he like walks? She sure didn't know. She looked at him and remembered his missing leg. She quickly looked at the food with her checks dusted pink. Walks were out.
After everything was finally put away, Inara sat down with a sigh. She looked up at her brother and with all seriousness spoke, "Do you want a prostatic?" She spoke without any nervousness. This was something she should have offered him months ago. She had refrained from touching the topic as she thought he would come to her.
