Do you mind if I can try drawing the clan's territory or camp later?

I mean sure, once we type it out. I usually make the maps and stuff myself but you can certainly try.

Hmm, kind of. Are there more sea-themed ones?
And should Medicine cats in the clan be called Fortune-Healers?

I dont know about re-naming the ranks yet. Its kind of a minor detail. ^^;
And I mean, I can try to make a different layout but I thought this one was nice.

I put together a short list of possible threats and the animals that could be in te territory. I went through a lot of Maine wildlife websites lol. Ill code some scrolling boxes to put these in when I finish the layout.
Threats: Boats, divers, humans, fishers, tide, undertow, storms, pollution, flooding Predators: Moose, Black bear, gray fox, red fox, lynx, coyote, beaver, marten, hawk, falcon, eagle, mink, osprey, dolphin, whale, shark, vulture, weasel, skunk Prey: Opossum/possum, rabbits, warbler, pigeon, duck, heron, gull, sandpipers, crow, cardinal, hummingbird, swallow, wren, sparrow, frog, salamander, bass, oyster, mussels, cod, tuna, flounder, salmon, trout, pike, perch, scallops, mouse, vole, hare, squirrel, chipmunk Prey that can hurt you: Eel, bat, crab, lobster, deer, geese, turkey, raccoon, woodpecker, snake, turtle, crane, heron, otter

I think there should be a cool haunted island a good distance into the water that is hard to get to. It can double as our place to talk to the dead and possibly be a setting for one of those trials I mentioned.
Im thinking maybe the cats dont believe in StarClan but their ancestors just protect the territory as like...the mist/fog that sometimes can be seen over water?

dou: does Maine have any like urban legends or folklore that may be interesting to incorporate?

I had the idea for Trials instead of assessments in my last clan but they werent used to their full potential so I would love to move them to this clan and improve them. There were three of them. One tested bodily skills, one tested spiritual and mental fortitude, and one tested morality/personal values. I definitely want to change them up and make them better and more relevant to this clan theme.

Ooooh. I like the first two, especially cause I was thinking of making the spirits of the dead turn into mist. Not sure aout the goatman lol.

perhaps instead of starclan, the clan believes in sprites? they aren't cats, per say, but instead small blue 'fires' of sorts, and while headed through possible forests they can show a path to, let's say, an omen or a spirit of a cat to tell a prophecy.
as for the test layout, i think it should be more blue/green instead of just greens. perhaps some yellow thrown in there.
and for the ranks, i don't think there should be too much of change, other than perhaps a few added ranks? like, something to do with crab catching/land prey catching, since some cats won't like the water as much and others will refuse.
and as you said that you didn't want any like specific build to the cats, i think they should be a bit like riverclan. not specific coat colors/lengths, but perhaps webbed feet and sleek, almost water resistant coats.
would you mind if i fixed the prey/predators list a bit?
EDIT*** perhaps the clan has tales of the currents being sea serpents? instead of the currents themselves, it could be the sea serpent dragging them down to eat them or something

All valid points. I like the idea of the lights, kinda like wil-o-wisps? Maybe thats a common form for the spirits to take when they need to communicate with the living.
I will make a few more versions of layouts and we can maybe make a poll later?
Thats a good idea. I agree we should separate the hunters into land and sea hunters. Maybe add another kind of rank. Not sure yet.
And sure, go ahead. I basically just sorted all the animals I found on the Maine wilfdlife websites lol.

Oh thats a good idea. I kind of want to make it like a serpent with many heads? So each one can be the currents and undertow and, like you said, they can maybe drag cats underwater. Maybe that could be considered a bad omen when it happens?

Ill code some scrolling boxes to put these in when I finish the layout. Threats: Boats, divers, humans, fishers, tide, undertow, storms, pollution, flooding (all good and valid)Predators: Moose, Black bear, gray fox, red fox, lynx, coyote, beaver, marten, hawk, falcon, eagle, mink, osprey, dolphin, whale, shark, vulture, weasel, skunk (moose won't bother them unless they bother it first; but could get underfoot. dolphins aren't in maine unless they're down south, and in very deep water[not sure if we have them at all, i've never seen one here], skunks aren't that much of a threat, but i can see how they would be)Prey: Opossum/possum, rabbits, warbler, pigeon, duck, heron, gull, sandpipers, crow, cardinal, hummingbird, swallow, wren, sparrow, frog, salamander, bass, oyster, mussels, cod, tuna, flounder, salmon, trout, pike, perch, scallops, mouse, vole, hare, squirrel, chipmunk (cats can't take down a seagull. trust me, i watched my cat try to. same with herons. hummingbirds are very small here, and wouldn't provide much other than a play toy for the kits/apprentices. cod, tuna and flounders get VERY big, and would probably eat a cat. im not sure how they would get into oysters, mussels, clams, etc.)Prey that can hurt you: Eel, bat, crab, lobster, deer, geese, turkey, raccoon, woodpecker, snake, turtle, crane, heron, otter (you can't find lobsters unless you're very far out, or looking for basically microscopic lobsters. cats would not take on deer, geese, turkeys, raccoons, otters, cranes or herons, as they're way too big. and cats and raccoons get along VERY well.)just pointing some things out :>

No problem. Some things need adjustment I see. Like moving seagulls into predator/threat territory lol XD. As for the shellfish, if an otter can figure out how to smash them open, I figured the cats could.
I will try to fix the list and have you check them again.

i think it would be a bad omen, yes. and, if a cat got into it and survived, then they would most likely be petrified of the water from then on. i also like the idea of a "haunted island." would it be cat haunted? Yah, like the spirits are probably a lot stronger here because I also want our Moonstone type of place to be here and can be quite scary/intense. Do you think other things should haunt it? Oh very true. They would probably assume the sea marked them for death XD poor kitty! Would probably become a land hunter after that.

Ill figure that out later. I moved rabbits and hares to the prey that can hurt you because thats how Longtail went blind. I kept the shellfish cause I figured that if otters could figure them out, the clan can.
