so im in DC for a week with my aunts and my grandma, and one of my aunts said she might take me to an amusement park nearby (im totally not obsessed with roller coasters, i swear) so ive done some research on the parks nearby, and both of them are mediocre. six flags america, the one close to dc, has a few good rides, but it has some of the worst operations ive seen (10 minute dispatches? no thanks) and is easily the worst six flags out there, according to a bunch of internet people theres also king's dominion, which has higher ratings as a park, but ive looked at the coasters and there doesnt seem to be anything quite as intense. its also two hours away, but my aunt said that that's an option. however, three hours away, is six flags great adventure. the park with the tallest coaster in the world, the kingda ka. ever since i heard of that thing it's been on my bucket list. its just amazing. i'm absolutely terrified to ask though lol, its like a state or two away in the other direction...

good luck!
my friend and I used to go to an amusement park a bunch in the summer…we'd ride this one rollercoaster like 10 times in a row (if lines got too long there was a second rollercoaster that was almost as fun and a little less popular so we would go over to that one) and then sit in the frozen yogurt shop eating fudge for the next couple of hours…we'll probably never do that again but it was fun while it lasted

it was…every time we went by the fifth time we rode the rollercoaster the people would start recognizing us and sometimes they would change up the greeting (like "hey back again" instead of "have fun on (ride)" or whatever it was) (the fudge was really good too)

tiger beetle did they ever think it was weird or anything? lmao its chill they didn't comment on it being weird; it's (I think) their most popular ride and we'd go on overcast Sunday mornings so they probably understood the frozen yogurt people didn't like us much the first time we went because we asked for free water and they don't do that there and then for a while we would just be in their shop with fudge that we didn't buy from them (they hardly ever had any customers on overcast Sundays so we weren't a problem) but then we started buying frozen yogurt so they were okay with it

i found king's dominion to be great tbh. the last time i went was on Memorial Day. the waiting times were actually pretty good and i thought all the coasters were fun (esp the volcano and the intimidator. and also the berserker but that's not a coaster).
then again the only amusement parks I've ever visited in my life were KD, SF of Georgia. Disneyworld, and Universal Studios (which I barely remember) so take that as you will lol. I've only just started being brave enough to get on thrill rides.
idk if I'd drive 3 hours for an amusement park though, especially with Virginia's traffic. it took us 45 minutes to get to KD and over 2 hours to get back :x

I live right next to KD and it's honestly the best!! The wait for the Volcano is always insane, but it's worth the wait(:

tiger beetle thats super rad omg Cuppa Tea ive been to one in des moines, disney world, and universal, i believe. ive since become a coaster enthusiast and i looooove anything that has thrill lmaoo. my aunt's girlfriend lives both here in dc but technically lives in virginia, so it wouldnt be a huge stretch to go there. but theres also the tallest, second fastest coaster in the world three hours the other way anD I DONT KNOw if i can convince her to take me lmaoo Aku yo! thats rad! i looked up another video of the volcano and it seems pretty interesting, a suspended coaster with a launch system... suspended coasters are my favorite, although ive never been on one that you're "flying" on or a stand up coaster.

Salted Squid i mean, thats somewhat common unless you didnt snap back somewhat quickly. by somewhat quickly i mean a friend of mine passed out at the beginning of a double loop (both of which are full inversions) and woke up at the end of the second. that's just normal for some people.

I have been to all of those parks, as my husband is a big time coaster enthusiast. In fact, our entire vacation next month centers around theme parks, because he's determined to get his coaster count to 350 this year. Busch Gardens is also close to DC, so I asked him to rank the parks based on coasters, and his order is:
Great Adventure Kings Dominion Busch Gardens Six Flags America

Turin not Torino so its not looking likely to get to great adventure, as soon as i'm able to leave on my own (like when i graduate) thats the first place i'm heading. however, its looking really positive that i can go to six flags magic mountain in california! my aunt says that the choices are magic mountain or disneyland/california adventure. have you guys been to magic mountain? from what ive researched, magic mountain sounds much more epic and excitin than disneyland lol

We have, as well as Disneyland/California Adventure. He said Magic Mountain over Great Adventure, hands down. He says comparing Magic Mountain to Disneyland/California Adventure is like comparing fruit to vegetables, but would say Disney if you've never been.

King's Dominion is great I've been like 10 times I love intense thrill rides and it has quite a few of those. I literally white out on the Intimidator coaster every time I ride it Plus if you go on a weekday the lines are usually not that bad

He said if it were up to him he'd pick a day Disney was open til Midnight, then get to Magic Mountain when they open, clear that park, then head over to Disney and clear that one out the same day. This is the same guy that did 3/4 of the Disney World parks the same day. You'll enjoy Magic Mountain though.
