I'd really like to see Sleekwhisker as a villain, however I'd prefer if her motivation wasn't entirely based on her alleged love for Darktail. Based on The Erins' history of writing female characters, I wouldn't be surprised if she was given a simple "driven to madness by the loss of a potential mate, swears revenge," backstory. I just feel like she'd make a more interesting villain if she genuinely became power-hungry/wanted to defeat the clans for her own benefit. Thats what I'm hoping for anyway!! What do other people think?

Yeah, I agree, though I wouldn't mind a Zira- like character either. While we have had villains driven mad with grief over their kits, we haven't actually had a character who is trying to avenge their mate's death. And besides, in The Lion King Zira was still able to be a formidable villain even though she was getting revenge and not simply trying to overthrow Simba for her own evil reasons (though I bet she would have loved to do that).
If Sleekwhisker comes back as the next villain I think she'll turn out to be a good one, even if everyone's hypothesis that she was Darktail's mate is true.

Well, Zira also thought that Scar was the rightful king and with Kovu being chosen his heir, of course she'd try to restore the order that was before. I can Sleek going down that, but not sure I would want it.

I personally think that Sleekwhisker would seek revenge even if she wasn't Darktail's mate, mostly because she was very loyal to him, and despised the clans of which she was once part of. So even if she's not pregnant or had Darktail's kits, I can still see her as being the type to still continuously cause trouble for the clans.

That actually sounds really good. What if the Erins made Sleekwhisker the villain for the next three books.

I think it's been said before. Sleekwhisker= Zira and Darktail = Scar. It's very obvious what the Erins are trying to pull. I would like her to be the antagonist for TS, but that's all. She has more villan chemistry with Tigerheart rather than violetpaw, twigpaw, and alderheart on account of being TH's neice.

Now that I'm thinking back on this, Sleekwhisker really does have a lot of potential as a villain, given the fact she was very loyal to Darktail, was interested in him romantically, and was previously a clan cat herself. She and some of the other clan cats that joined Darktail left the clans. I remember some cats were hesitant to fight in the battle cause they didn't want to fight their previous clanmates. If Sleekwhisker can be the mastermind she really wants to be, she might take advantage of her knowlegde on the clans. She know they meet every fullmoon, taking most of their warriors to the island, she knows about the medicine cats and their meetings, she knows where each territory primarily is, and where camps potentially are. Sleekwhisker could rally up cats that left after Darktail's death, including his group, and the new cats that joined and stayed, and cause some serious trouble for the clans. Now whether the Erins will take up this opportunity or not is debatable...
