"Lady, stir your cauldron well, Chant your words and sing your spell. Deep within this darkened hall, Hear the goddess Cerridwen call."When the world was old and mankind young, gods and goddesses walked amongst us mere mortals, and magic was as abundant as the air we breathe. Nearly every child born had the gift of magic, and to devote one's life to the study of the arcane knowledge was respectable and often well-rewarded. Cerridwen, Lady of the Cauldron, was the source of this magic for most; the chants she sang and spells she wove were far reached. The Horned God, Cernunnos, was the life of nature, and on Samhain he led the Wild Hunt. Every winter solstice he died, and every spring he was reborn. Songs and tales of heroes and mages were spread far across the world, and the relationship between the immortal and the mortal was good. The Sidhe lived amongst the humans, gifted in the magic of nature and illusion.
All of that ended as the Eternal Fire rose to prominence.
It was a slow change; a slow conversion, from the pagan world to a new religion. Slowly, the Eternal Fire's power and influence spread; those in political positions converted and took up the mantle of purity and devotion. Kings and Queens followed suit, and within a few hundred years, magic had all but disappeared from the world. Magic, once the lifeblood of society, had been outlawed; those caught utilizing magic - even those born with magic - were put to death almost instantly, either by the sword or by the flames. The Sidhe, whose very being was magic, all but disappeared; only a few of the fae-folk remained among humanity, but those that sttayed were weak in their magic abilities and could often pass for mundane.
The gods and goddesses faded into solitude and obscurity as their power diminished beneath the Eternal Fire's light, and for centuries they slept in quiet solitude. Old traditions fell out of practice; the druids who had once guarded the natural world were driven to extinction, and their knowledge was lost to the ages. With the loss of the druids, nature was no longer protected; Samhain was no longer celebrated, and rituals that had once been integral to one's life all but vanished.
The time has come for the world to change. Balance is a law that cannot be subverted. Magic pulses once more, spreading across the land. Cerridwen has awoken, and her cauldron bubbles and boils with spells. She has peered into the cauldron's turbulent waters, and seen six who could change the fate of the world. A select few have been gifted with the potential of great power, but they must reach Dinas Afferaon to unlock their full abilities, dodging the Eternal Fire's witch hunters, the Wild Hunt, and bounty hunters as they answer the goddess' call.
The Cauldron bubbles, and its children answer.

"He calls to the powers of earth, sea, and sky, Of Dragon and Faerie and shades of the night, He calls to the ancestors of blood and bone, Of womb and tomb and standing stone."When Cerridwen peered into the waters of her Cauldron, she saw six individuals with the potential to change the world and either restore the balance, or destroy it for good. She stirred her cauldron, chanting and singing a spell for each person. Unto one she bestowed dominion over the earth; onto another, she gave control of the sea, and another control of the sky. One was given the power of Dragon, and another of Faerie. The final was given sway over the night itself.
Earth was gifted to a twenty four year old woman named Violetta Alipsea. A creature of no true nationality, she was born in a small village in the wilds, where magic could be felt but never spoken of. Her mother was said to be of elven descent, which made her an outcast in the town. Her father, an herbalist and doctor, died when she Vio was only ten. She was always fiercely independent. By the age of fifteen she would leave home for weeks at a time to traipse around the forest, temporarily joining hunting parties or guiding knights through the thickest parts of the wood. Along the way she picked up a variety of skills including how to wield a crossbow. Her talent, however, is the ability to name the effect of just about any plant a person could point to. Her father taught her the secrets of the forest and it is what she cherishes most from her childhood. With the gift of Earth she gained the ability to both stifle and encourage the natural world. For example, she can make a tree grow leaves in the middle of winter. She can take energy from a growing fern. She can even feel the rumblings of the rock beneath her feet. But, as is to be expected, this ability is not yet honed to its greatest potential and often she fails in magical endeavors. What marks her physically are a symmetrical pair of tattoos, one on either collar bone, of a lilac branch. Ironically she was arrested for use of magic at a time in which she had used none. She was accused of witchcraft by a woman in a village after treating wounded soldiers with a rare herb.
Sea was gifted to...
Sky was gifted to...
Dragon was gifted to a young man of twenty-six years by the name of Rhyne. Born in Londinium to a family of low to average wealth, Rhyne was raised to be self-reliant, independent, and a tad rebellious to authority. He was taught the art of wielding a sword at a young age, and showed great skill as he grew. At a young age, Rhys had the makings of a great bard - one of legend - and when it was time for him to chart his own path, Rhyne set off for the open road with his sister, Ryu, and the pair traveled the world. When he was gifted with the power of Dragon, he gained the ability to influence flame, although his control and level of power is erratic and weak at best. He has the ability to shift forms, from human to dragon, although he has two different dragon forms. The first of the two forms is a full version of his draconic soul, in which he has talons, teeth and wings and looks every bit the dragon he is. The second form is somewhere between dragon and man; he can call on his dragon's talons and sight, and can summon his wings if he wishes, but he overall appears to be a man. In his second form, he still walks on two feet, but his skin takes on a scaly sheen. As a wielder of Dragon, Rhyne has a physical marker in the form of a tattoo of a dragon curling its form around his right arm. The tattoo has a tendency to move, and is the reason that Rhyne was eventually arrested for using magic illegally. His sister, Ryu, was arrested along with him, although she has no magical capabilities.
Faerie was gifted to...
Night was gifted to...

"Come and taste of the cauldron's brew, And magic she will give to you. You will dance in the eye of the storm You're Cerridwen's children, The Cauldron born." Among the humans, gods and goddess walked and existed in harmony with humanity and the world; immortal and mortal coexisted peacefully. Among the vast pantheon were a few notable beings.
Cernunnos, the Horned God, ruled over fertility, life, animals, wealth and the underworld. He led the Wild Hunt on the night of Samhain. Every winter solstice, Cernunnos died, and as a result the natural world withered for a time. When spring came once again, as it did every year, Cernunnos was reborn.
Taliesin was the son of Cerridwen. Cerridwen's first born son was cursed, and so she sought a manner to help him. Upon venturing to Dinas Afferaon, she unlocked the power of the cauldron, and enlisted the help of Gwion Boch and Morda to tend the cauldron's fire. The spell she needed required the cauldron to be lit for a year, and eventually three drops of the liquid in the cauldron were yielded. Gwion interrupted Cerridwen's plans when it was he who gained the cauldron's power, gaining the power to see past, present and future. After a vicious chase, Gwion changed into a grain to hide from the furious goddess, and Cerridwen changed into a hen and swallowed Gwion whole. Nine months later a son was born, and though she wanted to kill him, Cerridwen instead placed him in a bag near the sea and left him. The boy was picked up by a prince, Elffin ap Gwyddno, and was adopted and named Taliesin. He later became the greatest bard the land had ever seen.
Cerridwen was known as the Lady of the Cauldron, and was the goddess of rebirth, transformation and inspiration. She was most commonly regarded as an enchantress who utilized her cauldron, Awen, to weave spells.
The Lady of the Lake is said to be a woman who guides weary travelers to their deaths. While she has a negative name in that she is associated with being lost, particularly in mist, she is also a patron saint of women. It is said that all missing wives live on an island with the Lady of the Lake. She is a goddess of mystery and hidden paths. She is also associated with orphans and failed marriages.
Taranis is a god of thunder. He is commonly represented as a bearded man with a thunderbolt in one hand and a wheel in the other.
Camulus is a god of war and sky.
Tamesisaddas is the goddess of the River Thames.
Abnoba is a goddess of rivers and forests.
Epona is a fertility goddess and is the protector of horses, donkeys and mules.
Sulis is a solar life-giving goddess and an agent of curses.
Nodeni s the god of healing, the sea, hunting and dogs.

"I shall be a running hare, with sorrow and with michel care, Then I shall be a greyhound witch and tear you from your skin. Then I shall be a flying wren, the king of birds, the king of men, So I shall be a falcon grey and tear you from your skin."
When Cerridwen bestowed the gift of magic upon the six individuals, she set in motion a series of events that will determine the fate of the magical world. Those who lead the Church of the Eternal Fire seek to destroy the last stronghold of magic left in the world - Dinas Afferaon - and the High Consular has flooded the British Isles with witch-hunters and other troops in search of magic folk and clues that would lead to the stronghold, where it is believed that the gods slumber in fitful sleep.
Cerridwen was the first to awaken, when the balance of the world, which had been chaotic for a time, finally began to tilt in a direction from which there was no recovering. Without the balance of the world, nature would begin to wither, although it would take centuries for the world to be completely inhabitable. The gods would pass into obscurity and fade away, returning to their place of origin and leaving the world to its fate. Cerridwen stirred before the balance was too far gone, and knew that it was time to act. The rest of the gods remained in deep slumber, so Cerridwen sought to give humanity the tools to save itself.
The gift of magic is volatile and unpredictable, and affects each individual differently. Typically, when one gains the ability to utilize magic, they fall into a brief fit of convulsions and will usually slip into unconsciousness for several days as their systems adjusts to the magic. After this brief period, the person will awaken with the ability to use magic, depending on what sort of magic they were gifted with. Most of those gifted appear normal, but Cerridwen's chosen have a physical marker that labels them to the rest of the world as Cauldron Born. For example, Rhyne, who was gifted the powers of Dragon, has a tattoo of a highly detailed dragon curling around his right arm. The tattoo has the tendency to move, because it is the source of Rhyne's magic - his Dragon Soul, so to speak.
This roleplay will follow the Cauldron Born as they travel across the British Isles to Scotland - specifically the Isle of Skye - to find Dinas Afferaon, unlock the full abilities of their gifts, and set out to restore the balance and battle the Eternal Fire's totalitarian grip of the world. Along the way, they will be pursued by witch-hunters, the Wild Hunt, which has been running rampant without Cernunnos, and other denizens of the Eternal Fire.
The roleplay will begin with the Cauldron Born in custody, on their way with several other criminals to Londinium to be tried and executed for crimes against the Eternal Fire and the Crown. Certain powers intercede and give the Cauldron Born the opportunity to escape.

"Then I shall be a salmon-sleek, darting through a shallow creek, Then I shall be an otter witch and wrest you from your skin! I shall be a grain beneath the sun and you will never know which one Then I shall be a great black hen and take you deep within!." Below you will find information on the current plots of this role-play and potential future plots.
The Cauldron Born have found themselves under arrest and in custody, on their way to Londinium where they face certain death. Magic is illegal, after all. The powers that be have intervened, however, and given the chosen a chance to escape into the hills of Essex. They must make the decision to journey north, to their destiny, or turn their backs to fate.
In order to travel north, the group must taken on different identities and hide in plain sight. They have several options of doing so, whether they be traveling merchants or a troupe of actors. What will they choose?
