The docile she-cat's light colored fur bristled at the feeling of Redstar's against hers, her body shivering as the tension from him washed onto her. She glanced at Icewillow, her washed out green eyes flickering with worry. She let out a subtle sigh, licking at her nose before letting her soft meow escape from her larynx. "This is really getting to him," she spoke, her eyes looking towards Icewillow. "I guess the best we can do is be there for him, right?" she asked, her head tipping in question. Daciteyelp then let out a gentle sigh before following the large tom back into camp, her ears flicking as she lost balance for a mere second. She glanced around camp before her gaze settled on Aspenleaf and Tumblecloud. She trotted over, her bobbed tail flicking softly as she approached. "Gooood morning!" she purred, her green eyes closing as she settled down in a sitting position.
----- Ewecall stretched out her short limbs, her tail fluffing out as the morning air nipped at her small paws. She let out small squeaks as she woke, her ears flicking softly as she trotted from her sleeping space. She settled not far from her nest, her tail curling around her small frame. Letting out one heck of a yawn, the sun-kissed she-cat began to clean her fur, ridding herself of all of the moss from her poofy pelt. Once she had finished grooming that soft fur of hers, Ewecall decided to get to her paws, her fur fluffing out as she shook it. She glanced towards the group of three- one including her sister- and let out a gruff snort. She flicked her tail softly, shaking her head before getting to her paws, deciding to wander around the warmth of camp for a bit before doing something productive.

Tumblecloud's ears perked up at the sound of Daciteyelp, though he immediately became flustered at her presence, "Uh, good morning–?" Rats he thought, That sounds like a question, idiot scolding himself, he tried to puff up his chest a bit to seem more confident. Aspenleaf tilted her head in greeting, "Morning Daciteyelp! How's the weather out there? The sun barely seems lit, but it's a bit past the initial dawn now-" She paused in her rambling, suddenly very aware of her age. "Ah, and how are you this morning?" She added as an after thought.
Squirrelpaw's head swiveled to the pair of young males at the front of the den. "Don't you kittens think about sneaking out. You KNOW there's a murderer out there" She scolded, looking eerily like Redstar in that moment. For all her blustering and distance, she was of Sunstar's Line, the Blood of Leaders and she knew how to command a room. Floofy tail sweeping to the side, "If you want to be useful, you'll get up. Dawn's come and gone, and our mentors are probably already looking for us." Turning back to Lightpaw, who had started a whole new coughing fit, Squirrelpaw leaned down to lick her sister's ear. "Be back soon, I'll send Berrysnout to check in on you," she murmured. Cobalt eyes flicked up to look at the ginger, "Alright, Squirrelpaw, just don't give the little ones grief. They're learning still–" Lightpaw scolded lightly, though her voice broke into a cough. "Hush. See you later." Shooting another look at Tigerpaw and Lionpaw, Squirrelpaw swept out of the den.

Lionpaw's eyes darted from his brother, who looked startled but also somewhat ticked off, and Squirrelpaw as she left the den. He sighed and looked down at his brother. "We'll do it another day," he said quietly enough that nobody else could hear, and he walked away to the other side of camp, wearing a face somewhere between miffed and disappointed. His golden coat swayed and bowed to the slight dawn breeze. "But you told me we'd do it today..." replied Tigerpaw, watching his brother leave- only breaking his gaze to glance back at the other apprentices in the den, hissing at them like the defensive snake. He felt like all of their eyes were on him- and not even on him, or his eyes, or even his pelt, but his lip. It was all he seemed to get attention for- he had hoped that his adventure out of camp would distract him from this. It would be an adventure that didn't require having a fully-developed palate, something where all that mattered was a brave heart and an affinity for the fiery, rocky landscape. But of course that stupid Squirrelpaw had to ruin his plan and make him feel only worse. He walked out of the den, his surly eyes focused on only the ground below him, as he tried to figure out what else he could do that day.

A soft giggle erupted from Daciteyelp's chest, her eyes closing in amusement at the tom's flustered actions. She decided to respond to Aspenleaf's question first, her ears flicking softly as her stubbed tail bobbed. "It's absolutely beautiful out there," she purred, her dulled eyes closing before she opened them again, her ears perked. "The sun is making it nice and bright, I love dawn," Daciteyelp purred before turning to Tumblecloud, her eyes brightening. "How are you two doing? Oh! And, Tumblecloud," she paused, her whiskers pushing forward. "Would you like to go hunting with me later? If Redstar is okay with us going on our own- of course."

Aspenleaf snorted, "it's storm season so I don't think it's going to be pretty for long" She shuddered, absolutely hating rain. "This is the worst season of the lot, the humidity makes my fur stand on end" she complained, tail flicking rapidly. "Other than that good, had a good sleep considering the circumstances. Careful about what you say around Thunderfall though, he's really agitated today. I think it's 'cause he might have been sweet on Sapphiresky" Yellow eyes moved to the hulking male looming by the entrance of the medicine den, he's gonna go grey early– oh wait she snickered lightly he's already grey, ooh I am terrible Aspenleaf breathed a soft, satisfied huff. "Dawn patrols should be going out soon. If y'all want to go, best get at it. I reckon Redstar'll announce who's gonna–"
"I need three warriors and three apprentices to go on dawn patrol. Volunteers come see me!" Redstar boomed from his place at the base of the ledges that lead up to Bramble Ledge.
"Well, there you go." Aspenleaf shrugged smugly, eyes creased with the grin she withheld. Tumblecloud just appeared starstruck, and his speechlessness was a permanent source of amusement for everyone around him. Still winded– she wanted to go hunting, with him? "I-I'd love to!" he managed to stutter, eyes rounded. "We could hunt by the Fire stone? I hear the quails are plentiful in that area" He managed to say it slowly enough for the others to understand, but he was so excited! Hunting with the prettiest cat around– what a day! Even if there was a murder investigation going on, nothing could bring him down–

The brown-furred she-cat purred as she listened to the older female, her green eyes flickering softly. She fluffed up her fur, her ears flicking as she focused on Aspenleaf. She purred softly, her eyes closing as she laughed heartily. "I kind of like the rain, actually. It's fun to play around in! But I get the humidity thing. Hate the humidity," she purred, her green eyes rolling in annoyance at the mere thought of getting caught in a humidity spike.
Redstar's voice boomed through camp, Daciteyelp's head ducking in slight fear of the sudden noise. She perked up once she heard the announcement. She purred softly, nudging Aspenleaf. "Future teller?" she joked, her eyes sparking in joy.
She then let her gaze drift over to Tumblecloud, her eyes brightening even further as he agreed to go hunting with her. She jumped to her paws, purring loudly before a yawn interrupted her excitement. "Eep! Pardon!" she purred, her ears flicking as her stubby tail stood up as straight as it could get. "The Fire stone sounds wonderful! Quail is my favorite prey!" she purred softly, stretching out her lengthy legs.
----
Mattedpaw's eyes cracked open, ears perking as he listened for the sound of anybody in camp. The soft mumbling of the others interrupting his sleep. The apprentice sat up, his small eyes closing as he let out a yawn. He got to his paws, licking at his fur to rid himself of the sleep before crawling out of the tunnel, leading into the main of camp. The other cats mumbled among themselves, their mews quiet to keep it low.
Everything stopped. The noises from around him stopped, and he settled down, his blue eyes focused on that of the large ginger tom. His loud meow echoed through camp, and Mattedpaw jumped to his paws, nearly tripping over the things before he got to his leader.
"I'd like to go!" he exclaimed, his blue eyes wide as he looked up at the large tom.

( hello c: )
Proudfalcon's eyes crept open as he slowly became aware of his den mates waking up and leaving the den. He could identify Ewecall's squeak along with his brother's soft snores beside him. The brown tom tucked his muzzle under his paws and closed his eyes for a brief moment, he took a deep breath. He pushed himself to his paws, stretching out his sore and stiff muscles. He let out a soft, almost inaudible purr as he felt his muscles beginning to relax. His amber gaze flickered the few warriors that were still in the warrior den and let out a quiet huff before padding out of the den and into the main space of camp. His gaze flickered up to the top of the cavern, watching as more sunlight started to pour into their camp. Proudfalcon swished his tail, as he absently glanced around camp watching his fellow clanmates. The tom felt tired, maybe it was because he couldn't sleep, maybe it was because he was worried about the murders, or just maybe he needed push Russetgrowl from his nest. His brother has always been rather clingy since they been kits. His ears pricked up as he heard Redstar's call for volunteers, he glanced over towards the tom. Briefly, wondering if he should offer to join the patrol especially with everything that has been going on.
Littlespark glanced around camp from her position along the outskirts. The ginger she-cat's gaze lit up as she watched the sun start to creep into camp and as her clanmates started to emerge from the clan. The young feline had troubles staying awake for the whole night and it was much more peaceful to sit out in camp to watch everyone awake. Waiting in the warrior's den, being surrounded by snores and wiggling of sleeping cats is nothing that Littlespark found to be peaceful and relaxing. Yet the quiet of camp before everyone awakes is perfect. It was easy to forget all of the tension that has happened as of lately when there was no-one awake to remind you of it. Her gaze flickered towards the fresh-kill pile that dwindling in size. The slender feline wiggled in place, hoping that soon that Redstar... or Thunderfall would call for a hunting patrol.

A chance to do something. Quicker than the speed of a startled rabbit running from its attacker, Seedspeck sped across camp, passing her somewhat confused brother. Shoving her way through the budding crowd, she made her way up to Redstar with prance in her step and her nose in the air. Suddenly, energy was coursing through her, an energy that had been lacking when she had gotten up that morning. "You were looking for volunteers, Redstar?" she asked, her confidence overflowing into her words, her eyes gleaming with possibility and visions of glory, as her tail excitedly wriggled and shook. Hopefully, just this once, she'd escape the boring camp and have a small adventure of her own.
Tigerpaw heard Redstar's announcement as well, and it perked him up quickly. At least there was a chance to prove he was more than a lip. He scrambled to Redstar, only to get shoved out of the way by his older cousin. "Watch where you're going, mouse-dung!" he yelled at her as she sped away, her body slinking and shoving through the small crowd. A low growl crept out of his throat as he tried to get to Redstar as well, having a gut feeling some other cat would show him up- like Seedspeck or some other show-off. He hoped that this would be his chance to prove himself. Tigerpaw heard his brother walk up behind him. Hopefully he'll let Lionpaw come along as well.

[ Hey hey everyone! Shad you left Raven with Squirrel going to Berry. Sand, heads up there is a murder investigation going on, the former deputy Sappiresky was found dead at the bottom of the gorge. The fall killed her but someone tried reaaaal hard to make sure she was almost dead by the time she hit the ground.]
"Future teller? Nah. Redstar's just predictable. The moment he can make the most hub bub he will. A bit starlit, that one" Aspenleaf snorted, "You kids to have fun. I'm going to wrestle my apprentice into going on a hunt. Maybe get Cinderflake to drag her bestie out too." The golden tabby knew that Ravenpaw was stubborn, a kitten after her own heart that one. But one never caught a bird without bugs– "Be safe out there, steam vents acting up." With that, she lopped off in search of rebellious youths.
Redstar's eyes narrowed in on Seedspeck who popped up in front of him, after having shoved the young Tigerpaw out of the way. "Patience is a virtue, Seedspeck but yes. Volunteers are needed. I suppose I can count you in?" His voice was only slightly dry. He didn't want to discourage the enthusiastic cat, but he was not in the mood for cats who were looking for a fight. "Tigerpaw you are also welcome" Kinder, much more welcoming to the youngster. The kitten tried so hard, that's why he paired him with Downfall. Maybe the cheerful male would perk the apprentice up. When Mattedpaw spoke up, Redstar tilted his head, "Alright you too Mattedpaw." After a moment he glanced around, "Anyone else?"
Berrysnout emerged from the darkness at the back of the medicine den, out of the sickbay. Her paws were covered in dried blood, and she looked exhausted. This was the worst part of the job, besides giving clanmates a fire burial. Well, that's something she'd have to soon anyway– given the circumstances. She'd made her conclusion and right now? She needed a break. Exiting the den, she passed Thunderfall, who was looming like a terrifying statue. "Well?" he demanded, almost growling. But no, he wouldn't dare do that, not when he knew how all medicines were poisons. "I will tell my findings to the leader. Not you" She hmmed with satisfaction, that'll take the wind out of his pass. He scowled at her but Berrysnout was already heading towards the prey pile in the center of camp, thinking about snagging a nice juicy vole for breakfast.

Seedspeck was almost about to jump for joy as she listened to Redstar. I'm going to do something for my clan that's less petty than cleaning camp! She flamboyantly strutted over to the edge of camp and impatiently stayed there, barely waiting for the patrol to begin. Tigerpaw soon joined her, seeming content that he was going to have an adventure, wishing his brother would come along with him. Lionpaw did deserve a spot in the patrol, Tigerpaw thought- he was hardworking, intelligent, brave- it took him a while to find a genuine flaw in his brother. He did have an obvious bias, of course, but this didn't cross his mind.
Lionpaw, meanwhile, walked up to Redstar, somewhat more gracefully than Tigerpaw did. "Could I go with my brother? For, um- safety purposes." He glanced at his brother, only to see Seedspeck beside him. Great. That know-it-all will be trying to be better than everyone else and overachieve the whole time! If only she was quiet for once.

Redstar frowned, "Tigerpaw will be safe enough in a patrol of warriors, don't you think? Why don't you go find Daciteyelp and ask her about your training schedule for today?" He spoke kindly, but firmly. Siblings were well and good but even brothers needed to be separated once in a while– and Tigerpaw and Lionpaw were young, they had much to learn apart as much as they did together. Loyalty to the Clan must be fostered from apprenticeship onward he thought with a quick nod, reaffirming his decision. "Perhaps you might go on the Noon Patrol in compensation" Redstar mused.

The glow in Lionpaw's lime-green eyes seemed to fade away as Redstar talked, and a sense of discontentment bubbled inside of him. Keeping a false smile plastered on him, he nodded accordingly. Great, now I'm going to have to wait til' noon. And me and Tigerpaw will have to go separately. "I understand, sir," said Lionpaw quickly before running back to the apprentice's den, his frustration finally displaying itself on his broad, brazen face. Tigerpaw opened his mouth to speak to him as he sprinted by, but Lionpaw didn't stop, and Tigerpaw shut his mouth accordingly. "What's gotten into him?" asked Seedspeck incredulously, without a hint of respect for her cousin. Tigerpaw shoved her with his shoulder, a growl creeping from his throat. She swatted him back with her paw. "Your brother's a moody sort, all he cares about is his place in the Clan and nothing else." "That's not my brother, that's you!" spat back Tigerpaw. How could he be even remotely related to her?

The small she-cat let a purr escape from her throat as she nodded towards Aspenleaf, her ears perking as she watched the older feline trot away. Daciteyelp's ears perked as she looked back towards Tumblecloud, her green eyes seemingly brighter than usual. "So, when would you like to go? Starlight, perhaps?" she purred, her head tipping as she looked at the rusty brown tom.
----
Cinderflake's light fur fluffed up, his ears listening to the rumble of the camp. He grunted to himself, shaking his head as he settled down by the exit of the camp. The large tom let his head lift as he glanced around, his yellow gaze landing on the familiar golden she-cat trotting around, seemingly looking for her apprentice. A raspy cough escaped from his throat, his eyes scrunching shut before he settled down, his lungs stopping its rumble. He got to his paws, letting them carry his wide frame over to the she-cat. He settled down by her, letting his gritty voice escape from his vocals. "Looking for Ravenpaw?" he asked, his yellow eyes flickering as he looked towards- or rather, through- Aspenleaf.

DragonessPheasanttail slowly got up from her soft nest and stretched, using her long, fuzzy tail to flick off a twig caught in her fur. She couldn't have something as obvious as that ruining her pelt, of course- she took pride in her appearance if nothing else. Strutting like a prideful rooster into camp, she figured out what was going on as her firespark-like eyes adjusted to the light of the early dawn and her carefully-groomed tortoiseshell coat glimmered and shined Redstar was issuing his dawn patrol- she couldn't care less about it, though. She was perfectly content in camp, safe from things that could harm her or scar her dashing looks- at least, that's how it was after her father died a couple of moons ago. She didn't think about him longer than that brief thought- a conscious decision on her part- she told herself she didn't need to worry about dead cats and moved on quickly. Stifling a yawn, she stretched again to show off, and then tried to see if there were any cats that would talk to her and not openly try to ignore her bragging and boasting.

Heatherfrost loved dawn. She loved the feeling of the morning sun warming her pelt, and she loved being up early. While most of the other cats were sleeping, she had the time for a morning hunt and to collect her thoughts before she had to talk to anyone. That way, she would always look composed and productive when the others woke up. Not that she cared much for what others thought of her. She was perfectly aware that she was pretty, and wouldn't bother wasting time on her appearance when confidence and her natural beauty would get her just as far as constant grooming or worrying about how she looked. She was just about to leave the camp to go hunting when she spotted Pheasanttail just nearby. Her constant showing off was slightly annoying, but Heatherfrost elected to ignore it - for now at least. She wouldn't mind some company on her trip, and it was well-known that the other she-cat was a great gossip. "Morning Pheasant", she said as she strode gracefully over to her, a pleasant smile upon her face. The unnerving glint in her eyes never seemed to go away, however.

Pheasanttail returned the greeting. "Morning, Heatherfrost," she replied, only a hint of her ego showing through her sunny tone. She hadn't talked much to her, but she did at least appreciate that Heatherfrost appreciated beauty- although she didn't like the fact she thought she was better than her. Pheasanttail just hoped the molly wouldn't say that she was better than Pheasanttail- otherwise, she'd have bones to pick with her.
