| Xander | 20 | Human |
Xander could feel his body reacting to the blood loss, but didn't react adversely, not wanting to draw attention to the fact that he remained fairly cognizant. His training paid off, though, as he let his body become a dead weight and he could feel Vison handling him fairly delicately, making sure that he didn't fall. He needed to see this out and avoid detection at all cost. He wondered how long he should remain out until he "regained consciousness" pretending to wonder what had happened. After what felt like enough time, a faux-groggy Xander moaned and shifted before sitting up. He rubbed his eyes momentarily and blinked, pretending to figure out where he was. "Oh," he let out quietly, as he looked around. "Vison's room." He found Vison and looked sheepish, "I suppose I fell asleep," he said, looking over at his Ambassador.
"It seems you did," he giggled, playing off like that's exactly what happened,"but that's okay, whenever you want to sleep you are more than welcome to sleep in my room," he purred, winking at him. "You could even share my bed with me," he added before offering him a toothy grin, his fangs no longer there. Wouldn't need to slip up, though at times when he was overly excited they would slip out, it just happened. "Oh, if you don't hurry you'll be late to class. Though you should probably take it easy," he advised,"I could walk you to class if you'd like? My class isn't until a little bit later."

| Xander | 20 | Human | I should sleep just fine in my own room, the boy thought silently to himself with a smile over at Vison, letting his face flush, though the lack of blood clearly hindered that. He knew that if he were to spend the night in the Vampire's room, it wouldn't be to sleep, however, he didn't say a word. Instead he rubbed his neck where Vison had taken a bite, acting as though he didn't know why he was sore. "Must have slept funny," he muttered, before realizing that Vison was right and that he would be late to class if he didn't get going. Xander went to stand up but rose too quickly, in addition to the blood lose, and experienced some light headedness that was too real. "Woah, you're right. Could you walk me to class?" he asked coyly, slowly turning on the flirting.

| Allina | 20 | Human | Allina was sitting beneath an old-growth tree, with a couple of thick-looking textbooks open before her. In her lap was a notebook in which she was scribbling notes, as she looked back and forth between the open books. Sure she was just beginning, but this was something she was passionate about and even in her spare time, she really enjoyed learning more about it. Well, it was this or you'd find her in some body of water. As she wrote her notes, her head bobbed in time to whatever music she was listening to, a pair of earbuds tucked away in her ears. The girl was in a world of her own, not realizing that she'd missed a food date with her twin or that her long-lost sister had just walked past her.
| Kailani | 27 | Vampire | Lani, never without her camera, was shooting pictures of the students bustling around the courtyard, greeting old friends or getting to where they needed to be. This would all be going into the yearbook that was put out as well as in the newsletters she and her students put together as assignments. The young vampire, recently changed due to resistance in remaining at Caligo University was a human was slowly working into her new identity and while she knew people from when she was here before, being a vampire here was an entirely new experience for her [[ Here you go, your choice! c: ]]

"Yeah, you did kinda sleep weird, I tried to make you comfy, I guess I failed," he admitted sheepishly with a small smile. "Oh, don't stand up too fast," he said, getting to his feet quickly to help steady him, looking truly concerned for his Chosen. Had he taken too much? Oh that wouldn't have been good if he had! At the question of walking him to class, Vison's eyes lit up and he clapped his hands together before nodding. "I'd love to!" he answered cheerfully. Oh this is like a dream come true! Me, walking a hunk like him to class!! It was taking everything in his power not to start squealing or anything and he was doing his best to try and keep his composure. "Where's your first class?"

Rebecca was engaged in a conversation with her older brother as the pair walked across the courtyard. He was currently explaining some of the finer points of being a vampire student at Caligo to her, and she absently nodded to appear like she was listening to him. Truth be told, she felt she didn’t need to listen to him because both her parents and all her older siblings had attended the university, so she felt she had a pretty good grasp on everything despite being a freshman. “Sam, I’ll be fine,” she insisted, finally sick of listening to him. Without saying another word, she walked away from him and back the way they had come.

Another sunrise.
Another day in hell.
The shrill beeping of the alarm to Thane’s left was intensely annoying, and for the briefest of moments he seriously considering lifting his hand, curling it into a fist, and smashing the damned clock into a million little pieces. The urge passed quickly, though; his father would be infuriated if Thane did not show up to Orientation. As the son of the headmaster, Thane was considered to be a sort of role model for Caligo University – a position that he greatly despised. The alarm’s beeping grew even louder, and Thane groaned, tossing an arm over his eyes. He did his best to ignore the irritating sound, but after a few futile moments, he reached over and smacked the top of the little metal torture box, silencing it for the day. He laid there for a moment, staring at the ceiling, studying the dull, lifeless white paint. He snorted. The paint was a sort of metaphor, he guessed, as his jade eyes scanned the uniform surface. A glittering outside, hiding a bitter, rough and dangerous inside. That’s what Caligo was, after all; an outward appearance carefully constructed to mask its reality. The humans that came to this school were thrown to the wolves, and left to fend for themselves against the monsters that lurked in the dark. Every single human that entered those gates had the same fate: slavery, shackled to a vampire, serving as their source of food and entertainment. He turned his head to the left, and saw the bare, empty bed. A benefit of being the headmaster’s son, he supposed; he had no roommate. Thane curled his lip back in a biting sneer. His father expected him to act as a proper vampire should, and disregard human life. The only look a human was good for, his father had said, was blood and reproduction.
As a rule, vampires had difficulty reproducing amongst themselves. There was a much higher chance of a human becoming impregnated with a vampire’s child than a vampire becoming pregnant. Something to do with genes, or some subject that Thane didn’t really care to study, as he had no interest in carrying on his father’s line. A sickening feeling curdled in his stomach; Thane recognized it well. Hatred, despair, disgust. Thane completely and utterly despised Caligo Univeristy, his father, and everything they stood for. There were other, nonviolent ways of obtaining blood, and Thane had no interesting in twisting the mind of whatever human was assigned to him, and turn her into nothing more than a mindless servant intent on pleasing Thane at every possible opportunity.
Thane shifted, rolling off the uncomfortable lump that served as a mattress in the dorms. His bare feet touched the floor, and he scrubbed at his face for a moment before he stood and lumbered over to the sink. He flipped the light on, even though his superior vampire eyesight meant that he could see everything within the room perfectly, and lifted his gaze, staring into the mirror. His jade eyes reflected the light of the vanity lamp, casting an eerie, white sheen across his gaze. He opened his mouth, watching with abject fascination as his canine teeth elongated, sliding downward into a pair of glistening, pearly white fangs. He truly was a monster, he mused. He retracted his fangs, eyeing the slightly pointed, but otherwise normal looking, canines that were left behind. With a mournful sigh, he lumbered into the bathroom and kicked on the shower, stepping into the stream. The cold water slammed into him and he stiffened instinctively, but otherwise ignored the shock.
Ten minutes later, Thane was cleaned and dressed. He picked up his phone and wallet, sliding both into his pocket. As he moved towards the door and reached for a handle, there was a loud, sharp knock. Thane frowned, and swung the door open. The form of Kane Preston stood in front of him, and he had to resist the urge to sneer at the other vampire. Kane Preston aspired to be everything Thane despised, and for that reason Thane couldn’t stand him. Kane gave Thane a withering smile that spoke volumes about his opinion of Thane. The two shared a mutual look of distaste for a long moment, before Kane sauntered off, humming a stupid tune. Thane bared his teeth in the direction of his enemy, but said nothing, turning his attention instead to retrieving his phone. Almost absently minded, he began to sift through his contacts, searching for a particular number. There; he’d found it. Sterling, his little bird. He reached across time and space, brushing gentle against the mate bond that bound him to the human girl. Instantly he felt grounded and relaxed, felt the tension easing from his shoulders. Sterling was his bird, and yet she was his anchor. He would’ve done anything to protect her – anything at all, even if it meant Changing her into a vampire. He clicked on her name in his phone, typing out a quick text, asking where she wanted to meet. He needed to see her; he felt lost and alone and empty without her, and he found that he didn’t like being without Sterling for very long. She was his, as he was hers.
--
Rhysand drummed his fingers across the soft, supple leather armrest, staring out into the quiet wilderness beyond the pane of glass before him. His hooded gaze scanned the horizon with a judgmental eye, studying the palette of colors that extended across the sky as far as the eye could see. He curled his lip over gleaming teeth, although his fangs remained carefully sheathed. Up until about seventy-two hours ago, he’d been living in relative peace, on his quiet Scottish homestead. He’d tended his garden and let the world do its own thing; he’d written his poetry, strolled through the nearby town, and lived a quiet, simple life – one that he’d obviously taken advantage of. His peace had been unbroken for years, until a single phone call had shattered his solitude.
He’d been out of his home when the phone call had come through, so he hadn’t managed to catch the caller. When he returned to his little home, he’d seen the flickering light on his answering machine that denoted he had a missed call and a message. While Rhys had a cell phone, he still liked utilizing his home phone and answering machine for most things – he was old-fashioned in that sense. He’d pressed the button with little hesitation, and went to place a glass in the cabinet. When he’d heard Pierre’s voice over the speaker, he’d shattered the glass almost instantly, sending shards of the now-broken cup deep into his hand. Of course, Pierre only wanted one thing; Rhysand’s high rate of success at Changing humans.
While it was possible for any vampire to Change a human, very few had the mental and physical strength to deal with the Change itself. The Change was physically, mentally and emotionally taxing on both the vampire and a human, and if either party wasn’t strong enough, the human’s death was often the result. In order to Change a human, a vampire would have to give up a significant portion of his own blood, to trigger the genetic and physical changes in the human. Few were willing, or able, to do so. Rhysand was one of the few who did, and Pierre had somehow managed to monopolize on that for his university, Caligo. It likely had a lot to do with the sort of debt Rhys owed Pierre, but Rhys had a feeling that Pierre had forgotten about that debt a long time ago.
That was seventy-two hours ago, and now Rhysand found himself within his brand-new office. Pierre had insisted – ordered, really – that Rhys return to the school to teach and to keep an eye on his newest turn, but Rhys knew it was just an excuse to get him to turn even more humans, especially the ones who figured out the ploy of Caligo. He drummed his fingers across his desk once more, turning his attention inward, towards the many blood-bonds he shared with those he had Changed over the centuries. The newest, and the weakest, was to one Kailani. Pierre had called him here for many reasons, but Rhys suspected it had something to do with Kailani, or her family. He stood and followed the link to the younger vampire, finding her in the courtyard, where Caligo’s majestic fountain was on full display. It was of a dragon, its length twisting around a massive rock, and its maw was opened, spewing water forth as if it were fire. The students were bustling about, greeting friends and newcomers alike as they headed towards class. Lani seemed entirely focused on them, he realized. He cocked his head, studying her with violet-blue eyes, and waited for Lani to become aware of his presence.

[[ Sorry, I'm back. Had to get some stuff done on my work computers ]]
| Xander | 20 | Human | "No worries," Xander said cheerfully, mimicking the effects that Vampire Saliva was supposed to have on Humans. "Yeah, shouldn't have done that," he muttered, feeling slightly woozy. He stood and shook his head to try to clear it. He looked over at Vison and caught a look of concern, "Oh, I'll be fine," he assured his Ambassador with a smile. It took him a moment, but Xander finally got his wits about him again, all of them.
Xander thought long and hard about where his class was and managed an uncharacteristic chuckle - again the Vampire Saliva effect he needed to play by. "I forgot. It's Orientation Day." He'd been so concerned about keeping up pretenses and worried about balancing his academic responsibilities with his guild responsibilities that he had completely overlooked the fact that the first day, no matter where he was going had an Orientation. "Don't you have to go to that as well?" He asked curiously.
| Lani | 27 | Vampire |
Lani was so focused on the students and taking pictures of the first day, that it had taken her a while to feel the tug that normally only took a matter of seconds to establish. She knew exactly who it was, the one Vampire who always had a connection to her - her sire, Rhysand. She glanced around wondering if Rhysand was in the courtyard and she hadn't noticed him, but a shake of her head, she new that he wasn't. I wonder what he needs, she thought to herself as she let her camera rest gently at her side, abandoning her task to answer the call of her sire.
She knew where she could find him if he wasn't around, but it was easy enough to simply follow the link to search him out. She passed through the courtyard, past all the bustling students, Vampire and Human alike, to head into the administrators' building, Creperum. She didn't know, though, what Rhysand wanted with her. She knew that the sire bond she had was new and weak, but she didn't know if there was any reason why he would want to see her now.
The new Vampire entered the building and walked up a few flights of stairs to where Rhysand's new office was located. She knocked on the door. She'd only come to see what he wanted from her and did not want to rely on the link they had - it was weak and ineffective at best. "Did you want to see me?" she asked, her voice quiet and respectful.
| Allina | 20 | Human |
Allina, though her head phones were in and her nose stuck in her book, felt the shadow of people walking past her. There were many of them, all walking to the new student orientation or getting ready to go to their first class of the academic year. However, there were two passing her as a pair that caught her attention when she looked up. They were too far away for her to hear their conversation, and her music helped with that, but was genuinely curious about what they were talking about. So, she took off her headphones, packed her books, and stood up to follow the girl who was walking away from the boy. From the looks of it siblings, she knew all too well as it was what she imagined she looked like when she walked away from her own brother.
"Hey!" she called out, jogging to catch up to the girl.

[[ Hello hello! ]]
| Xander | 20 | Human | Xander nodded, trying to reassure the Vampire at his side. "Yeah, I'm sure," he answered, "Just a little light-headed." He stood again, this time feeling much better and began to head to the door. The boy nodded and looked over at Vison. "Well, we might as well go together," he mused, upping his game with his Ambassador. "Come on, I might need someone to lean on," Xander continued, grinning outwardly, though lurching inwardly. It's all part of the game, he thought to reassure himself, keeping the thought quiet and far back in his mind away from the superficial areas that Vison may have access to.

Rhysand continued to drum his fingers soft leather beneath his palm, violet-blue eyes staring outside into the forest. There was a stirring in the back of his mind; one of his children was approaching him, and when he heard a soft knock on the door, he pulled his gaze from the forest beyond and settled it on the door. He called out an affirmative, and after a heartbeat, Lani entered the office. Her voice was soft, quiet and timid, as if she feared him. Did she? Rhys wouldn’t be surprised. He’d turned her life upside down, after all; even if it had been done on Pierre’s orders, it had been Rhysand who’d forced the Change on her. There was a pang in his chest – one of grief, one of remorse, but it passed rather quickly. He studied her for a moment, cocking his head to the side. “Indeed,” he said after a moment, leaning forward to rest his elbows and forearms on his desk. “Sit down, Lani.” He gestured to the rather comfortable looking chairs before him.
“I will be honest with you, Lani,” he said, once she’d settled down. “I had no plans to visit here, unless I was needed – you and I both know that if my presence was necessary to you, you could’ve reached over the link. It’s weak and young, but it will grow over time.” He drummed his fingers across the wooden surface. “Pierre called me here and insisted that I return to this campus promptly, as my presence was needed. I have felt nothing over the link, but Pierre was insistent. Normally, I would have refused, but something tells me that Pierre is worried about someone or something.” He studied Lani for a moment. “Is it you? Are you – or your family – the reason that I was called back here?” He wouldn’t have been surprised. If he remembered correctly, her other siblings were of the age to attend college, and it was Caligo’s practice to bring entire families under the fold. Did Pierre expect a rebellion? There had been rumors about Bruja poking its nose around Caligo. If there was anything that Pierre was afraid of it, it was Bruja.

| Lani | 27 | Vampire | Lani looked into the room with a sort of reverence before entering the room. Despite everything that Rhysand had done to her and what it meant on her life, she still held respect for the older Vampire. Whether it was her own free will to hold it or because he was her sire, she couldn't really tell. She nodded and took a seat before his desk, setting her camera gingerly in her lap and straightening out her skirt.
The young Vampire nodded; it was true, since her Change, Rhysand hadn't visited campus and that was nearly four years ago. She knew that the connection grew over time, but four years was a blip in the timeline of a Vampire's lifespan and it would take longer for it to grow. Lani sat quietly, listening to what Rhysand had to say, thinking about the things that had unfolded in the past four years. If she was being completely honest, nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. There had been warnings of keeping an eye and ear out for Bruja, but aside from that, nothing else stood out to her. She had kept her gaze on the supplies on his desk, but when she felt his gaze upon her, observing her, she raised her eyes to look at him.
"It's not me," Lani answered. She knew that her younger twin siblings were on campus, Allina wanting to follow in her footsteps and Xander playing the protective older brother following his sister into what he thought was trouble. "Like you said, if I needed anything I would have made a connection with the link." Since Allina and Xander's matriculation and arrival on campus, Kailani had done her best to stay away from her younger siblings. The family loyalty she felt to her younger brother and sister made it difficult, but she knew that if she saw them, they would have questions that she would not be able to answer. "If it is my family, I would not know," she answered honestly. Upon being brought into the inner folds of the school as a staff member, Lani had learned a little bit more about the operation and what the traditional Vampires wanted to maintain. Concerned now, at the mention of her siblings, she asked, "Is there a problem?"
