Prologue:
The world is a vast place full of stories. Everyone has a story to tell including me. But no one cares about the story of a nobody. And no one cares about the ill. Just two reasons why im seen as Invisible. My name….. They call me Ghostpaw. I guess the name suits me. My pale white fur along with my almost lifeless amber eyes. I seem to just exist. Just in the background while everything is focused on the important cats. But I have a secret. I hear and see those that other’s cant. Anyone would say I was seeing Starclan cats but its not that simple. These cats don’t have clan names. And just like me, they just exist to exist. They are the few who notice me. The fatherless kit with no potential. She talks to me when no one else will. She is my friend… and I’ll follow her until the end.

Chapter 1-
"Come on Ghostpaw, don't give up!" the pretty, black and brown she-cat encouraged.
Still, I failed to catch the small grey mouse that was just out of my reach. I sighed and looked at my mentor, Buckheart, hoping he wasn't too disappointed in me.
He was watching the other 'paws, swishing his long, light brown tail as though he longed to have any other apprentice besides me. I don't blame him. Personally, I'd rather have the dead she-cat that spoke to me as a mentor rather than him.
"Just get down and do it like this," said Kink, the aforementioned dead she-cat. The pretty spirit showed how to do a hunting crouch, her kinked, fluffy, feathery tail down low, but high enough to not touch the ground. I watched avidly as she snuck up on a mouse and jumped, but her paw passed right through it.
I nodded and followed her movements until I caught a scrawny mouse. Buckheart glanced at me and nodded, heading back to camp. He was always a tom of few words, as was I. Maybe that was why Lightstar picked him as my mentor. I flicked my dull, white ear in response and padded next to Kink back to class.
There is one living cat that talks to me. His name is Sunpaw. The tom has interesting markings. The gold mark over his eye explains how he got his name.
"Oh look," Kink mewed softly, "here comes your friend." As she spoke, I lifted my head to see the young tom and gave him a nod.
"Ghostpaw!" He purred. "I heard that you and I are going on border patrol at sunrise!" Sunpaw sat by me, looking as happy as a cat that caught a fat squirrel in leaf-bare. "This will be the first time in a long time that we're working together. Maybe we'll fight some ShadowClan foxhearts and get our warrior names!"
Kink giggled at the tom's excited nature and I glanced at her, giving her a sign not to laugh at the only living cat who remembers my name.
"You asked for me to go on patrol with you, didn't you?" I asked, already knowing the answer to my question.
"Well, yes." He told me honestly. "But that shouldn't mean anything." Sunpaw obviously thought my feelings were hurt, so I rested my tail to reassure him I was fine.
"It doesn't." I tell him. "It only means I have to work even harder to be noticed. It shouldn't be a big deal." I gave him one of my small, fake smiles to make him to feel better. As always, he bought it. The black and gold small tom's eyes brightened and he nodded.
"I'm sure you'll get noticed soon." He nuzzled me quickly and padded out of the den to meet his mentor, who was calling for him.
"It's always the same here, huh?" Kink mewed to me.
"Always" I answered back

Chapter 2-
I awoke next to the black and gold tom, and then we headed to the ShadowClan border. I felt rather bored, but Sunpaw bounced with excitement. Watching the tom almost brought a smile to my face. Kink followed us without a word, her long black and brown mixed fur blew in the gentle breeze. I was sure that if the other toms could see her, they would all be begging to be her mate. However, I had no interest in her that way.
"I can't wait to get my paws on some ShadowClan cats!" Sunpaw purred. "They won't know what hit them!"
"Now, now Sunpaw," Nutchest chided, "we don't want to spill blood if we can avoid it. We don't want to start a war between our clans. We just want to make sure they stop taking our herbs," the small, light gray and brown she-cat explained to him.
No one had told me we were going into the ShadowClan camp. Or that we were going because they were stealing herbs. I flicked my tail with annoyance at the thought of being left behind with the news.
Sunpaw looked down in disappointment; he obviously wanted to try out the moves we practiced in training the other day. I gave a slight smile at the thought of the tom batting ShadowClan cats on the ears like he did with me, although he'd most likely be much rougher with them.
The small group remained quiet as we entered ShadowClan's territory. The eerie sound of the wind sent a chill up my spine; it seemed too quiet, even for me. I sensed a pair of eyes, eyes other than Kink's, burning into my pelt.
The ghost felt it too, and she stopped and turned to a small holly bush.
"Stop right there, ThunderClan," a low growl seeped from the holly. I recognized the voice, from a few moons ago. Raggedstorm. The large, dark grey tom stalked out from the bushes. His muscles rippled through his short pelt as he walked and his amber eyes were filled with anger.
I had seen the tom at gatherings, watched him from the shadows. When you're a cat no one likes to talk to, you tend to do a lot more listening than talking. The other cats respected him for both his power and knowledge.
"I know why you're here," he hissed, circling us, "we need the herbs more than you, so let us continue to gather them, or get clawed trying to take them from us."
"Raggedstorm, you could have just asked, but instead you came into our land and stole from us. I won't stand that," Nutchest hissed back. For a small she-cat, she could be quite scary, even to the biggest toms in our clan.
I almost felt bad for my friend, having her as a mentor must be stressful, but it beat having a mentor that didn't give a fox-dung about you.
Sunpaw flicked his tail inn anger, his eyes blazing. His usually kind, playful blue eyes shifted to a serious and threatening glare.
My own expression remained neutral as I watched Raggedstorm and Nutchest face each other. I'm not completely emotionless; I was just as angry as Sunpaw or Nutchest, I'm just better at keeping it hidden. My claws slid out of their sheaths, ready to fight if he put a paw on Nutchest or Sunpaw.
Raggedstorm bared his teeth at the she-cat, but backed away. "I was told not to get in a fight so..." the tom bounded into the holly, only to drag out a bundle of catmint, "I'll give you this much for now. Volestar will talk to Lightstar at the gathering about doing an exchange."
Nutchest looked at the tom in confusion, but excepted the herbs. "Sounds fair. I guess I will see you then," she picked up the bundle that Raggedstorm dropped and turned away to leave. "Oh, and Raggedstorm?"
The tom looked at Nutchest with interest, "yes?"
"Take care of Drippingrose and your kits. You never know how much time you have until it's up," with those words and a final, curious gaze, the she-cat padded away.
The tom stood there, eyes focused on her. Though he stared at her, he seemed lost in another time, perhaps recalling old memories.
I turned back to Nutchest and Sunpaw. I didn't know what those two shared, but I wanted to know.
I would find out.

Chapter 3-
I walked back into the den after the long day of the drama that I had witnessed, and looked over at the dark pelted she-cat laying next to me in my mossy nest. I tried to rest my tail on her back, but my feathery tail passed right through her, reminding me she wasn't really here. I sighed and looked at the stars that glimmered through the den of tree roots.
"Awake already?" the sweet tone of Kink's voice fluttered in my ear as she sat up, "it's very early you know."
I just glanced at her and looked back up at the sky where the moon hung high. Times like these were the loneliest for me; they reminded me of how lonely I truly felt.
"Are you thinking of your father again?" Kink asked, concern knotting her face.
"Something like that," I muttered. I didn't want to think about my father, but the bright sky reminded me of the night he left. The night he decided he didn't want a useless cat like me as a son and became a rouge, never to be seen again. My mother grieved over losing my father, always too busy to pay attention to me. It always seemed she blamed me.
Kink's ghostly cheek flitted straight through mine for a moment, and she flicked her tail, "forget him Ghostpaw. You have Sunpaw and most importantly; me," she purred.
"I know. And I'm thankful", I told the she-cat. She had always been there for me, like the sister I never had. We were closer than anyone. Even Sunpaw and I didn't compare to the bond Kink and I shared.
"Ghostpaw?" a drowsy Sunpaw stirred from his sleep and slowly walked over beside me. "Why are you up? Who were you talking to?" the large black and gold tom's fur was ruffled, and his eyes were full of want to sleep.
"I just had a nightmare." I told the worried tom. "I needed someone to talk to so I guess I ended talking to myself." It wasn't completely a lie. I did have a nightmare that woke me up, and to others, I do talk to myself.
"Oh...well if that's the case, why not sleep in my nest tonight?" Sunpaw gave me a warm smile, "it might make you feel better."
I would argue with him, saying I wasn't a kit, but there's no arguing with that tom when he thinks he's doing the right thing.
"Alright," I mew resignedly, "just don't tell the clan that I had to sleep with you like you were my mother." I purr and flick his ear gently with my paw and curl up in his mossy bedding and wait for him.
He purred too and curled up next to me, falling asleep within a few moments. I look over to see Kink frowning at me, a hint of anger in her gaze, but before I could work up the energy to talk to her sleep hit me fast and hard and I was knocked out.

Chapter 4-
"Ghostpaw, wake up." A paw prodded my side and I groaned. The familiar voice was a bit hasty, and he put his paw in my face. "Come on!" he yowled. "It's important!" I opened my eyes to see Sunpaw nose to nose with me. "Lightstar called a meeting."
I stood up, shaking my ruffled pelt and sighed. "What's it about?" I looked at the excited tom and smiled a little. Even on rainy days like today he seemed to brighten up the day.
"I'm not sure yet. Maybe it's about what Raggedstorm told us yesterday." He said thoughtfully. "She might tell us that we're going to fight instead of giving them out catmint."
"I doubt that. We have plenty to spare so I'm sure Lightstar doesn't want any bloodshed if she can avoid it." Lightstar wasn't exactly the kind to launch into battle if she could avoid it, although, the many scars on the she-cat proved she wasn't a push over either.
"That's true, I guess," Sunpaw mewed quietly. He seemed disappointed somehow. I flicked my tail as I pondered why he seemed upset at my theory. Maybe he was hoping a fight with Shadowclan would get him his warrior name. I shook my head and looked into the tom's blue eyes. "Come on. We're gonna miss the meeting." I start padding out of the den as Kink comes and joins me.
"Let's sit over there by Nutchest and Buckheart," my denmate mewed as he took a seat next to Nutchest. I didn't want to sit next to the big brute that called himself a mentor, but for Sunpaw, sure. Nutchest gave me a simple nod, and Buckheart a grunt. Gee. What a warm welcoming.
I scooted a bit closer to Sunpaw to make room for Kink to sit. Buckheart looked at me a bit weirded out and opened his muzzle to say something until Lightstar interrupted him.
"You have all heard what happened on Shadowclan territory." She told us, head high and shoulders broad. It looked like the black and gold tom was right about what she was going to report at the meeting.
"Shadowclan is done stealing our herbs and prey! I will not stand for this. I have decided that if there is a war, we will need more warriors." The leader gave Sunpaw a nod, and then looked at me. "Sunpaw, Ghostpaw. Come up here."
I winced a bit. The only cats that spoke my name were Kink and Sunpaw. It was strange to hear it from her.
Kink gave a proud smile and attempted to nuzzle me. I looked over at Sunpaw, who was so excited he was bouncing.
"Do you think I'm ready?" I heard him ask his mentor.
"Of course you are. You wouldn't have been made a warrior if you weren't ready." She purred and touched noses with him. I didn't even glance at my mentor. I'm sure he was happy to get rid of me. A bit of jealousy hit me, but it died when I saw how happy my friend was.
"It's time to get your new name Ghostpaw," Kink whispered to me. As if anyone else could hear her. I walked away from the pretty she-cat and stood on the flat stone of the meeting place. Soon, Sunpaw scrambled next to me.
"These apprentices have waited long and hard for their names. It is time I gave them." She looked down at Nutchest. "Has Sunpaw learned all he could from you?" I hear a proud and happy 'Yes' from his former mentor and eagerly awaited if mine would repeat it. I looked over at Buckheart, who was in the front row next to Nutchest. He wouldn't even glance at me.
"And is Ghostpaw worthy of his new name, Buckheart?" Lightstar asked the tom.
The large tom just gave a nod, no sign of joy or any feeling for that matter, in his voice.
"Then, by the power of Starclan, I give you your warrior names. Sunpaw, Starclan thanks you for your kindness and determination. We welcome you as Sunpelt." The whole clan yowled as loud as they could, showing how popular Sunpelt really is. Next, Lightstar turned to me. "Ghostpaw, your new name will be Ghostsight. We welcome you into the clan." I look around and everyone is quite. Everyone, but Kink.

Chapter 5-
I watched as all of the clan swarmed Sunpelt, welcoming him as a new warrior. I sat alone, watching the tom receive warm licks on the cheek from his mother, Dawnspeck, and a loving nudge from his father, Ripplefur. I had to admit, I was a tad jealous of my friend. It didn't seem fair to be that loved. I shook the thoughts of jealously out of my head and padded up to Sunpelt when the others were gone.
"Ghostsight!" He purred and nuzzled me in excitement. "We finally did it! And you know what? Soon we'll have our first battle as warriors!" He smiled and clawed the earth. "Shadowclan will whimper in fear of Sunpelt and Ghostsight!" Seeing him so happy was infectious. I smiled back at him and nodded.
"I'm sure they'll be frightened by your overwhelming positive attitude before you could claw them," I joked and flicked his ear with my tail. Ashblossom padded up to Sunpelt, ignoring the fact I was talking to the tom; she brushed up against the tom and whispered in his ear. I see him nod and whisper back, purring. He turned back to me and smiled slightly. "Sorry, but I gotta go hunt with Ashblossom. I'll see you later. And with that, my best friend left with the pretty, tall she-cat, and left me alone with Kink and my thoughts.
When the two of them returned, Ashblossom was purring happily and acting almost sickly sweet to Sunpelt. I narrowed my eyes and watched the two as they went to pick out prey. They were joined by Vixonwing and Heavyfall. All four of them seemed happy and proud. After eating, Sunpelt, along with the she-cat that seemed glued to his side, strolled over to me.
"I have wonderful news!" the black and gold tom told me. "Me and Ashblossom decided to become mates!" The dark gray she-cat gave me a nod, but nothing more.
"Don't you think it's a bit early for a mate?" I asked. "You just became a warrior. Why not enjoy it before you grow old?"
Sunpelt laughed at my words and wrapped his tail around his paws. "You sound like an elder! You won't ever get a mate thinking like that." He nuzzled his new mate fondly. "We've liked each other for a long time now. Well, we better go." He nodded at me and turned away, Ashblossom at his side.
I watched my best friend leave, and I couldn't help but feel I've been replaced.

Chapter 6-
Moons have passed since Sunpelt and Ashblossom had become mates, and the days have gotten lonelier and lonelier. Sometimes, Sunpelt would say a few words to me then bounce back to his mate. Other times, he wouldn’t speak to me for days. I watched the two spend more time together and slowly forget about me. I started to loath the she-cat who stole my dear friend away and felt my fur bristle every time I was near her or saw them nuzzle each other. It was almost sickening to look at Sunpelt when she was glued to him.
The night of the gathering was stressful for all. Volestar and Lightstar butted heads all night, until the clouds covered the moon and we were ordered to go back to the camp. Volestar told us to give up the small amount of herbs we had, and Lightstar argued that we needed them for our sick and old. In the end, it was easy to tell that a war was starting. The next day, the leader padded up to me.
“Ghostsight, Shadowclan is attacking us at the border,” the beat up she-cat told me. “I need you, Sunpelt, and Ashblossom to hurry and go. We need all the warriors we can spare.”
I nodded and hurried to tell Sunpelt about the fight. He stretched his claws and told Ashblossom to follow him to the border. I watched them leave and looked over at Kink. The she-cat padded next to me and nodded.
Shadowclan was fighting hard and long. Although most looked skinny and worn out, they fought with the strength of lions. I watched Nutchest and Raggedstorm lock together in battle and Sunpelt fighting the leader, Volestar. Our deputy, Shortclaw, fell to the ground, her neck torn to shreds. I heard Lightstar yowl in despair as I rushed over and batted the tom who had murdered the she-cat back. The fight was stopped as everyone realized how many of us had died. I counted the bodies of Thunderclan and shook my head. Too many deaths. I saw both Sunpelt’s parents laying in a pool of blood, and the tom himself was quite injured. Softpaw and Foxsky were piled onto eachother, eyes glazed and mouths open. Five clanmates were gone and, though not even one of them noticed me, I felt a horrible loss. I would have walked over to Sunpelt, but his mate beat me to it, telling him the bad news. He looked at me with glaring eyes as a sat next to his parents. I had tried to save them., to rush over, but they had gone down a few seconds before I could reach them. The cold look in his eyes scared me, and I walked over to Lightstar instead, trying to comfort her. She watched Volestar and his warriors retreat and waved her tail to signal the clan to go back. Picking up Smallclaw, I followed. Ashblossom, who was carrying Dawnspeck, and Sunpelt, who carried Ripplefur, were close behind. I shuttered at the feeling of blue, cold eyes burning into the back of my head.
As the next day arrived, the clan gathered around to hear who the new deputy would be. Lightstar, head held high, stood proud. “Five dear members have been murdered, but our herbs are saved. We thank them for what they have done for us.”
Everyone was quiet. Not even one kit squeak was heard as the leader stood and announced the news.
“I have made a decision on what to do now that Shortclaw is gone.” Buckheart sat tall and proud and I raised an eyebrow, flicking my tail. There was no way the cold tom would become leader. Sure, he was strong, but anyone could tell he would lead us into many fights, and a fight is not what we need right now.
“There will be no deputy. I may be old, but I have many lives left and will be here for many seasons. When I am down to one more life, I will assign a deputy. Until then, I will lead this clan alone.”
The clan stood in shock, many yowled in outrage, saying that the warrior code would be broken. Lightstar sat quietly as she was questioned and yelled at. Onepath, our medicine cat, however, looked in shock at our leader, as worry shone in his eyes. Something was wrong. Very wrong.

Chapter 7-
“I don’t see why you don’t stand up for yourself.” Kink said, her eyes narrowed into slits. “He and that she-cat just ignore you. If I was you, I wouldn’t take that sitting down.” She brushed against me and whispered into my ear. “You should go tell him off”
I shook my head and looked up at her. “It's not that simple. Ashblossom makes him happy. I don’t want to ruin it for him.” Although I had grown a lot since the battle with Shadowclan, Kink is still taller than me.
“Then maybe you could find someone. Maybe find a mate yourself.” She purred and looked lovingly at me with big gold eyes.
“You know no one wants me.” I told her nonchalantly. “I might as well be an actual ghost.” Kink rolled her eyes at my response and circled me.
“That’s not true. Onepath is happy when you help him gather herbs. He doesn’t mind you being around.”
“Doesn’t mind and want me to be around is completely different.” I lashed my tail in frustration. “You don’t understand.” I whispered and sat in my nest, feeling more alone than ever.
Kink shrugged, stood up and walked out of the den. Great. Now even the ghost doesn’t want to be around me. I sighed and looked out over the clan. Lightstar was in the medicine cat den after a nasty fall from a tree. She had lost a life and now was starting to look frail and old. I started to wonder if she was close to her last life. Onepath was practically glued to her side, feeding her herbs and getting her water from the moss he had stored.
Sunpelt and Ashblossom were curled up together by the prey pile sharing tongues. He had started to talk to me more but all he would talk about is how happy his mate made him and his new apprentice, Seapaw. I was happy for him but I still felt jealous. I could do without a mate. In fact, a mate didn’t appeal to me much. But I did want an apprentice. Maybe Lightstar thought I didn’t have anything to teach to an apprentice. Thinking about this, my chest started to feel tight and it felt hard to breath. A feeling of panic set in but I couldn’t move. Or, at least, I felt like I didn’t want to. I felt like I was dying. I gasped for air but no matter how much I got, it wasn’t enough. Kink walked in and saw me laying down looking like a dying fish, squirming and bug-eyed. She rushed over and started to attempt me to calm down.
“Shhhh It's okay Ghostsight. You’re okay just clear your mind and take deep breaths.” She cooed softly like a mother to her kit. “It's okay” She brushed her tail against my back and my breathing slowly went back to normal. I felt tired like I had just woken up.
“I'm okay now. Thanks, Kink” I nodded to the she-cat and she purred and nodded back. I set my sights back on my old friend Sunpelt. I missed him but I couldn’t go and just talk to him. I feel like he doesn’t want to talk to me and I would just be annoying. And even when he talked to me, I felt his eyes burn into me as if deep down inside, he hated me. It was moons and moons after the battle and his parents' deaths and it wasn’t my fault anyways so he shouldn’t hate me over that. Maybe he was mad at me for something else. I shake my head and sigh. That tom is so confusing.
I heard Sunpelt yowl. “Every cat who is old enough to hunt, gather around!” Confused cats looked around the camp but they all gathered around him. I padded over and sat next to Nutchest. Ashblossom stared lovingly and in awe at the proud, strong tom on top of the leader’s rock. I have to admit, standing up there suited him.
“Because Lightstar is injured in the medicine cat den.” He nodded briefly at the damaged leader. “She asked me to take over for awhile while she is recovering. And I think one apprentice is ready to become a warrior. Seapaw, come here.”
The little she-cat looked up in surprise and excitement and bounced up there in front of him. The she-cat seemed to mimic that same look Sunpelt had when becoming a warrior. She licked Sunpelt’s shoulder and grinned.
“You have been a smart, kind apprentice and I think you’re ready for your warrior name. Because of your eagerness and kindness you remind me of my father. To honor both you and him, I give you the name of Searipple.” He purred and the clan cheered her new name and I watched the she-cat become surrounded by others as I look over at her sister, who looked very unhappy that she was not given her name and no one was noticing her. I felt bad for her because I knew how that felt to be ignored when someone you care about dearly got everything.

Chapter 8-
“How is everything, Ghostsight?” Onepath asked as he circled me, checking my ears and paws. I looked over at Kink, her tail neatly placed over her paws and her fluffy brown ears flicking. Medicine cats are suppose to be able to see the spirits of dead cats, but so far in my life, he has never acknowledged Kink.
“Anything weird happen lately?” The old tom asked me. Besides my best friend changing from Sunpelt to Sunstar? No. I wanted to say this, but I stayed quiet. Because Sunpelt was in charge when Lightstar was sick, and a new deputy was never assigned, everyone agreed that Sunpelt would be the leader. Starclan even accepted him as the leader. It was strange how it seemed we were just apprentices for a short while and now, my best friend is the leader.
“No. Nothings out of place,” I told him. I wanted to leave and meet up with Mistylight as soon as I could. After her sister, Searipple, became a warrior I started talking to her, telling her it would be her turn soon. I took her out training many times, as well as hunting. And after her mentor, Lightstar, died, Sunstar made her a warrior. When she became one, I expected her to stop talking to me entirely, but it seems she sees me as a close friend now. I’m happy the pretty white and silver spotted she-cat has taken a liking to me. It made me feel warm inside knowing she wanted to be with me.
“Then you’re free to go. Come in next moon for a check up.” I thanked him and walked outside the small cave and bumped right into the small Mistylight. “Oh! I’m sorry!” I apologized and helped the fallen she-cat up. “I didn’t see you.”
She laughed and shook her head slowly. “It’s fine. It’s fine. I know how deep in your thoughts you get.” She flicked her long, slim tail in my face and started walking off. “I was thinking we could visit the nursery. You know, Sunstar’s and Ashblossom’s kits were born awhile ago.”
My ears flattened a bit. The thought of my friend having kits felt weird to me but I nodded and followed her anyways. I look down at Ashblossom and the four squirming kits. Three she-cats and a small tom. One was a dark gray with black spots and blue eyes, another was black with gold ears and gray freckles. The last she-cat was a pale gray with black paws, and the tom was a fluffy dim golden tom. I stared at them in awe and Ashblossom looked up at Mistylight.
“Do you want to name one?” She asked the she-cat. Mistylight’s eyes widened in surprise at the new mother’s offer.
“I-if that’s okay,” Mistylight stuttered. When Ashblossom nodded, she padded up to the first she-cat and purred. “Is it okay If I name her after someone I love?”
“I don’t see why not,” the gray she-cat mewed with a shrug and looked up at me. I looked back with a questioning look on my face. She had a large, knowing smile. The smile of a sly fox. I looked back at the kits. Even though I think Ashblossom is the spawn of a darkforest cat, she did have cute kits.
“I think I’ll name the gray she-cat with blue eyes Ghostkit.” My ears perked up as I looked at her in shock. She gave me a sweet smile while Kink thrashed her tail, clearly outraged at her confession. “If that’s okay with you Ghostsight.”
“Uh, yeah, yeah. That’s fine.” I felt my cheeks burn bright red. I turned away to hide my embarrassment while Sunstar, who sneaked up on me quietly, purred and rested his tail on my shoulder.
“Looks like you’re a normal cat after all old friend. I was worried you’d never find a mate.” At the word mate, I turned and looked at Mistylight. She was a very loyal cat and bright. Not just her pelt, but her mind too. I had spent a lot of time with her and she was like my apprentice. I taught her when Lightstar was slowly dying, and I watched her grow into the beautiful she-cat she is today. Perhaps she would make a good mate. I looked over at Sunstar. His eyes seemed to speak more than his words. To me, they said “If you had stayed the way you were, strange and useless, I’d have to make you leave.”
Changes were made once Sunstar became leader. If you hurt the clan’s reputation badly or seemed useless, you had to leave or else. He may have gotten a bit colder, but he still cared about the clan and his kin. And everyone seemed to agree, that is, until you were the one getting kicked out. I looked over at my old best friend and nodded.
Mistylight’s eyes shone and brushed against me, purring. Although I still was unsure about this, it seemed everyone decided for me. And who was I to disagree?

Chapter 9-
At sunhigh, I padded up to Sunstar’s nest. The black and gold leader had asked me to swing by and talk to him. I gingerly parted the tall grass covering the entrance. “Sunstar?” I mewed a bit nervously. “I’m here like you asked.”
The large and cheerful leader came up to me, his tail touching my shoulder. “Ghostsight! Glad you could make it!” He purred and touched his nose to mine. I blushed a bit and looked away. I wasn’t use to this kind of attention in a long time. He had been too focused on his mate and his duties to really talk to me. And now that everyone had declared Mistylight as my mate, he started talking to me again.
“As you know, I haven’t decided a deputy yet.” He circled around me and stopped, inches away from my face. “And you know you’re my best friend.” I flattened my ears in discomfort at how close the tom was but nodded.
“Yes, I know.” I sat down, knowing this would most likely be a long talk. “So? Did you choose someone yet?”
He nodded excitedly, reminding me that the tom was still the same one I knew as an apprentice. “I have! I’ve decided you should be my deputy!”
I look at him with wide, shocked eyes. “Sunstar, I can’t. Im not fit to lead a clan, and the others wouldn’t be happy about it. What about Stoneleaf or Yelloweyes? Even Mistylight would be a good choice.” I told him. I didn’t want to be deputy. It would mean one day becoming leader of a group of cats who barely knew me.
Sunstar narrowed his eyes, his cheerful expression changed to a hard, dangerous look. “Are you refusing my offer, my dear friend?” His bright blue eyes stared into my pale amber ones. “After letting my parents die, I think it’s the least you could do for me.” He unsheathed his long, sharp claws and held them up to my cheek. “Remember who your leader is, Ghoststar. Remember who lets you stay and gives you food, medicine, and shelter.” I backed up a bit, seeing a side of him I’ve never seen terrified me. Seeing that I was scared, he soften up his face and he was back to normal. “I’ll tell the clan about you becoming deputy later.” He started to walk away but stopped and turned his head over to me. “Oh, and don’t tell the clan about our little talk, or I'm afraid you’ll have to leave.”
I started in shock for awhile but I nodded and left to go to my nest, turning to see Kink had seen the whole thing. I sighed and walked into the warrior’s den, laying down with a plop on my nest. Kink laid next to me, licking my ear.
“Sunstar is getting worse,” The brown and black she-cat mewed softly. “You don’t deserve that.” She touched her nose to my ear. “I think it's time for you to end this, Ghostsight. He’s getting out of control. You need to kill him.”
I looked at her and shook my head. This wasn’t the first time she suggested this. “Kink, no. I can’t.”
She looked at me with a serious look on her face. “You have to do it. Before its too late for you and the clans.”

Chapter 10-
I woke up and much to my surprise, Mistylight was next to me. Her warm silver fur pressing against my white one. I stood up, trying hard not to wake her. But with the slightest movement the she-cat woke up and looked up at me with light brown eyes.
“Ghostsight” She mewed with an exhausted tone in her voice. “What are you doing? It’s not even dawn yet” She stood up, stumbling a bit. As she stumbled she tripped on a small stone and fell onto me. She didn’t seem to care about the fall but I was very uncomfortable being this close to her. Others may see us as mates, but to me she was just a friend. I didn’t want to be with a she-cat. She must have felt the stiffness of my body and noticed that I was feeling a bit awkward. She frowned and got off me and sat down. “Let’s go for a walk.”
I nodded and followed the she-cat out of the den, letting her press against me while Sunstar watched with large blue eyes in satisfaction. I looked over at the cat that I use to consider my friend. I nodded at him in greetings and he gave me a quick nod before turning and retiring to his den.
After we were out of the clan and almost at the border of Shadowclan, Mistylight stopped and looked up at me. I wasn’t the tallest of cats in the clan but compared to her I was huge. She looked at me with sad brown eyes. Her pelt shone like a river under the moonlight. So calm and bright. She let out a soft sigh before speaking to me, flicking her long tail gently.
“I know you don’t love me the way I love you Ghostsight. I’m not stupid” Her words shocked me but I kept my muzzle shut and let her tell me how she was feeling. “I know you’re only with me because Sunstar wants it. I understand what he’s been doing to our clanmates. This is only a cover for you so you can stay in the clan.” She scooted closer to me, letting her nose touch mine for a heartbeat and then sunk back down into the sloppy posture she was used to. “You like him, don’t you? Whether it’s as a friend, leader or mate, you like him.”
“Do you mean Sunstar?” There was a pause when I asked. She didn’t want to confirm that she thinks I like toms. I shake my head lightly. “Although I am jealous of Ashblossom and I care deeply for my old friend, I don’t think it’s that kind of love.” I saw her body loosen up a bit and give a small nod.
“I just want you to know that I truly do love you and I believe if you truly love someone that you should do all you can to let them be happy. Even if it means seeing them with someone else or just simply letting them go” Tears welded up in her eyes. Not wanting to see the she-cat cry, I turned my head. “I will still follow you wherever you go Ghostsight. I know one day you’ll become a great leader.”
I felt my pelt rise a bit hearing her clearly say that I was going to be the next leader. “Listen Mistylight. I don’t want to be a leader. I don’t have that desire or drive. It’s true that Sunstar made me deputy and it’s true I don’t want Sunstar as the leader but that doesn’t mean that I’ll accept being ‘Ghoststar’. It will never happen.” This was one of the only times I raised my voice in anger but I was fed up. None of the cats even wanted me as a warrior, why do they want me to be leader so bad? It’s obvious. Sunstar wants it, so now every cat in the clan is following like a blind kit.
Mistylight could see it was no use arguing. She nodded and turned away, her pelt ruffled but the night’s wind. “Okay Ghostsight, I’ll see you tomorrow. But understand that I mean what I said. I think you’d be a great leader and mate.” She left without a single word more.
I didn’t follow her. I was too busy thinking of the conversation I just had with her to notice Kink sneak up on me.
“Ghostsight” The pretty brown she-cat looked at me with serious eyes that seemed to burn into my soul. “I have something to tell you. I couldn’t tell you this before because it wasn’t time.” She sat down by me and looked up at the sky. She use to have her emotions all over the place but now she looked as wise as the oldest elder in the clan. “You’re meant for more than just a petty leader’s life Ghostsight. You are meant for the life that knows no bounds. You are the single most important cat of all the clans. More than Starclan and the Dark forest combined. You know what you have to do. Make yourself heard. Make yourself known. You have to kill Sunstar and become the name everyone knows.”

Chapter 11-
I woke up in the forest next to a strange tom. His scent was familiar in a way. I stared at his long white fur and his dark brown eyes. My fur was soaked from last night's rain. I lifted my head to look into his eyes and ask him who he was.
“Ah. So you’re up. About time, boy.” He gave an amused purr and stopped, as if looking for something. He turned back to me and gave me a small smile. “I don’t think you remember me Ghostkit, but I’m White. Your father.” The older tom looked at me with somewhat sad eyes. “I saw what happened with that she-cat last night. I also saw you talking to yourself.”
I stared at him for awhile before answering him. I let what he just told me sink in. White. The rouge my mother fell in love with, and the first rouge to join our clan in a long time, but he left us when I was a kit, right after my sister died. I had mixed feelings about this: anger, happiness, confusion. I thought he left because he thought I was useless, but the look in his eyes told me otherwise. “I wasn’t talking to myself. I was talking to Kink.”
The sadness in the rouge’s eyes grew more and more. He shook his head and wrapped his tail neatly over his paws. “I was afraid this would happen.” He looked down and sighed. “Son, you’re sick, my boy. Just like me. Does this ‘Kink’ tell you to do terrible things?”
I looked at him in disbelief. First he leaves and then shows up in my life without any reason and expects me to be happy to see him, and then he bad mouths the only cat who has really been there for me? Telling me I’m ill? How dare he? I lashed my tail at him and let my neck fur stand up. “Kink has done nothing but help me unlike you! You left me and Brightspirit! How dare you show up for no good reason and tell me I’m sick without even knowing me?”
Kink wrapped herself around me, nuzzling me. “Ghostsight, You can’t let him speak so badly about you and I. Teach him to respect you and to watch his tongue.” At my dear friend’s words, I slide out my claws and stared at my father.
White backed away at the sight of my anger. Fear and sadness filled his eyes. “So this is what I looked like to Brightspirit.” He looked up at the star filled sky for a moment. “I’m so sorry my love.” He looked back at me, determination in his eyes now. “Son. Listen to my words. Kink isn’t real. She isn’t a spirit or a real cat. You are sick. It’s a rare sickness not even a medicine cat can cure. We call it Schizophrenia. It’s where we see others no one else can. Cats no one has ever met before. They tell us things. They tell us what to do. I’m so sorry, my boy. I never meant to pass this down to you. The reason I left the clan was because I was too dangerous. But I’ve learned to control it better. If you just come with me for awhile, I can teach you to have a normal life. If they learn about this, they’ll drive you out as well. Please, come with me so the same thing doesn’t happen to you. I know you need time, so when you’re ready, meet me under the large oak tree covered with vines. I’ll be there every sunhigh.” And with that, he ran away into the shadows.
I let my fur flatten back down as I thought about what he told me. If he saw the same things I did, maybe he was telling the truth. Or maybe he just wants to get close to me and hurt me again. I shook my head. My brain hurt badly from everything that happened. I figured I’d go back to camp.

Chapter 12-
Waking up next to Sunstar startled me. The large tom was curled up next to me, his pelt touching mine just like old times. I looked down at him, twitching my ear. He was smaller than me now but not by much. When we were apprentices, he was much bigger.
“So you’re awake.” Sunstar’s voice boomed and echoed in the small cave under the meeting rock. I never understood how he could possibly like living in the small space. “When you came back from camp, you collapsed. I took you to Onepath but he said you just needed rest.” He didn’t explain anymore than that or tell me why he was so close to me. The tom suddenly got closer to me, bringing his nose to mine. “When Mistylight came back without you and you disappeared for the whole day, I started to worry.” He paused for a heartbeat before continuing. “You seem to be staying up really late Ghostsight. It’s not good to be up when the stars are and asleep when your clan is up and about.” He looked at me with a tad bit of anger in his eyes. “So I decided to follow your scent trail. Only to find you with that rouge that abandoned you.” The anger disappeared for awhile. “I’m worried about you Ghostsight. I’m worried about your illness. My mother, or should I say your adopted mother, told me all about White. He was crazy. He would yell and hurt others, saying we were all working with the foxes.” I cringed when he told me this. I looked around the den, noticing Ashblossom and the kits weren’t anywhere here.
“Where’s Ashblossom and the kits?” I asked, trying to ignore the words Sunstar had told me. I wasn’t as bad as my father. Sure, I saw Kink, but she wasn’t telling me anything bad. At least, not that I know of
“Ashblossom went away for a bit. She wants to take a break from the clan and me” The anger in his eyes returned. “She took Ghostkit, Hopekit, and Tuftkit with her.” Sunstar looked away from me. His eyes filled with mixed emotions of sadness, anger and regret. “We aren’t mates anymore Ghostsight.” He looked back at me. “But that’s fine. She’ll return to the camp soon enough and on the bright side, a new warrior joined us.” He purred and pointed to a small, battle-scarred ginger she-cat. “That’s Redclaw, my new mate.” He grinned as he told me and I repressed a sigh. Sunstar is still the same tom. It was easy for others to fall for him and it was easy for him to fall. “I know what you’re thinking, It’s a bit fast, but hear me out. She’s a really tough she-cat and will make a good warrior. And with her as my mate, the clans will respect us more by seeing the tough she-cats we have!” He purred at his own confusing logic and I just nodded.
“By the way Ghostsight.” The stern look in his eyes sparkled and he pinned me down with a paw on my chest. “I’m giving you a moon to get better or you’re leaving. We don’t need extremely ill and dangerous cats in the clan. That’s why White isn’t here.” And with that, he returned back to his fun-loving self I remembered right after I agreed with him. But the familiar she-cat’s voice returned, saying the same thing over and over again; “You have to save the clan. This cat is a dark forest cat. You have to kill him to save the clan. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill……..Kill”
Chapter 13-
Moons have pasted and I was still ill. Sunstar had told all of the clan about what was going to happen to me. I was to be banished from the clan and anyone who objected would be thrown out with me. I looked around at the clan I was raised in and set my eyes on one she-cat, Mistylight. I thought if one cat would stand up for me, it would be her. But the blank expression in her eyes made it clear that she no longer wanted me here. The sadness and anger boiled up inside me as I looked down on them all on the meeting rock. The only cat in the clan that looked disapproving was Sunstar's old mentor Nutchest. Looking up at the darken sky, I saw the clouds move over the moon. Perhaps Starclan was disapproving too. Sunstar slide in beside me and looked up at the sky. He too saw the sign of Starclan but simply dismissed it.
"Cats of Thunderclan" The tom bellowed. "I, Sunstar, have made a mistake for letting this go on so long. The cat before you" He flicked his tail at me. "Is dangerous to this clan and I refuse to put our clan at risk any longer. Ghostsight is to be banished and anyone who is caught talking to him outside the clan or trys to defend him is to go with." Small chatter surrounded the camp as well as glares. "This, of course, means I will need a new deputy." Sunstar's blue eyes rested on Mistylight. "Mistylight. I have chosen you to take Ghostsight's place. I believe even though you were mates with this sick cat, you can be trusted. Do you accept being deputy and showing your loyalty to this clan?" The tiny gray she-cat looked up grimly and nodded.
"I will do anything to prove my loyalty to you Sunstar" Anger that i've never seen in her appeared in her eyes. "Even if I have to kill the one I loved." I stared at her in surprise and stumbled back just to get pushed forwards by Sunstar and nearly fell off. The tom smiled approvingly at Mistylight and looked at me as if to gloat.
"Very well. It is time to get rid of this useless fleabag and let him rot in the forest he was born into." The night sky which was once clear other than the few clouds turned into rain and thunder. Onepath looked up panicked.
"Sunstar! Starclan obviously doesnt want this! Don't you think-" Before the medicine cat could finish, he was cut off by the leader.
"Did I not make myself clear?" The black and gold tom growled at the small tom, wet fur clinging to his frame. "If you rather leave to become crow food with this excuse for a cat, then go"
Onepath stared at the younger tom, eyes full of anger and wisdom. "This is not the clan I love. This is nothing more than a ban of bloodthirsty rouges." And with those words, he leaped up next to me and looked down at the clan. "By following this monster, you are all turning against Starclan! I will not take part of this." He turned to me and started pushing me away from the clan. "Lets go Ghostsight."
Chapter 14-
While leaving the clan territory, Onepath told me the story of what happened between Ashblossom and Sunstar while I was gone. He said that Sunstar had been seen with Redclaw making plans with her group of rouges to get rid of cats that seemed to be a danger to the clan. It also appeared that he had kits with her. Two little she-cats she had named Whisper and Breeze. Ashblossom found out and left with the kits.
"She told me before she left that she was going to find the cats that Sunstar through out and make a ban of rouges herself. She didn't say much more than that but I know she's probably planning to overthrow Sunstar." Onepath looked at me and lifted his graying chin. "I think we should join her if this is the case." The old toms eyes seemed to glow with wisdom as he spoke. "The world is black and gold with greed and death but the ghost of past memories can change someone if they are willing to sacrifice the things they love" The tom's speech surprised me a bit. This sounded like a message from Starclan and it didn't take me long to figure what it meant. This was a message that war was coming. A war that may be the death of many.
"Don't freak the poor tom out Onepath." The sweet sound of a voice I remember and use to despise rose from the bushes as well as the body of a tall gray she-cat. "I think being kicked out of the clan is hard enough on him without words that make no sense." Ashblossom purred and slid past me to nuzzle the old coot. Three little heads popped out and followed her.
"They've gotten so big!" I stared at the little balls of fur and smiled as they stood proudly in front of me. Tuftkit, the little golden tom, padded up to me with wide eyes. "Are Ghostsight?" I blinked at him and nodded slowly. surprised the tom knows who I was. Sure, I was around him a bit when his eyes weren't even open, but I didn't tell him my name. "Momma says that you're the one who sees cats that aren't there! That's so cool!" While the tom ogled over me, the other kits whispered to their mother. If they were still in a clan, they would be paws' by now. Their kit fluff was now a smooth slick pelt and little claws were large and sharp. Sunstar would have been proud.
Ashblossom nodded to her daughter and looked at us with a serious frown. "It's time for you to join us. We need you both to save the rest of the forest." The proud she-cat who put her pride in front of even her well-being was asking for our help. The help of an old coot and a sick tom. "Will you join The Crusade?"
Chapter 15-
Ashblossom's group was larger than I thought it would be. I looked around the fox den camp that was covered by ferns. The group was almost as big as an actual clan. Some of the cats spotted collars or nasty scars and others were the cats that use to be apart of Thunderclan. To my surprise, I saw Raggedstorm and Drippingrose talking to Nutchest. I padded over to the three to see why they of all cats were here.
"Nutchest? How did you get here so quickly? We left before you." The brown and cream colored she-cat turned away from the large tom and the slim she-cat.
"Ghostsight! I'm glad to see you made it here alright." She purred and flicked her ear, her eyes that once showed pride and strength changed into a playful but motherly look. "You and Onepath were so slow. You'll need to work on that if you're planning to take down Sunstar. Trust me, If anyone knows how strong he is, It's the one who taught him."When she realized she had left Raggedstorm and Drippingrose alone, she turned and started padding away, but not before wishing me good luck and saying her goodbyes.
Shadowclan, Riverclan, Windclan, Thunderclan, Rouges, Loners, and even Kittypets. All kinds of cats were here. The mingled smells were extremely overwhelming. I felt slightly dizzy when I took in everything around me. Cats I've given scars to addressed me like I was an old friend. Was Sunstar really that bad to attract all these cats to fight him? I let my mind wander back to the old memories I had when we were friends. What changed in him to become this way? Surely losing his parents couldn't have been that bad. After all, I lost both of mine but I didn't snap like that. As if my thoughts summoned him, White walked up to me.
"Ghostsight, my boy, I knew you'd be here." His ruffled white fur and torn ear had told me he has been in a fight lately. It still amazed me how much I looked like him. Four or so rouge cats stopped next to my father. "These are some of my friends. The ginger tom is Tooth, The little white and gold she-cat is Cali, The dark gray and black is Rip, and the silver one is Tommy. They wanted to join me in the fight." The chubby tom called Tommy nodded at me. His green eyes shone with kindness as he said hello. Cali seemed a bit feisty for her size. A little pink collar hung loose from her neck. Rip had one full ear gone. Only little shreds of it remained. And Tooth had a fang sticking out at all times with scars all across his face. I shuttered looking at them all. They were all dangerous looking and looked like they could rip me to shreds. As long as they're on our side, We'll win for sure.
"What's wrong kit? Yer fur is stickin' straight up. Yer not afraid o' little ol' me are ya?" Tooth asked me. "Ya got nothin' ta worry 'bout. We'll follow White ta the end o' the world if we have ta. We're on yer side."
Cali nodded but had an annoyed look on her face. Tommy seemed the friendliest in the group besides White.
"They aren't as scary when they warm up to you. That shouldn't take long considering you're White's kin. Don't worry" He whispered to me and then winked before joining his group again.
"We're going to go back to training. I just thought you'd be happy to know that i'm here" White said with a nervous smile. I smiled back at him and wondered how It would have been to be with him growing up. Even though I didn't see him much, I did love him just like kin should. Looking around again after they left, I realized I wasn't alone anymore. Just before I came into the camp, Ashblossom told me that this was all because of me. She had told others my story and they decided to fight. She said that there are many who want me to be leader. But as always, I passed. I didn't want to be responsible for the deaths of cats. Not after I couldn't save Sunstar's parents. But the longer the day dragged on, the more cats asked and the more I thought about how they came here for me. I was the reason they wanted to fight. No matter if I lead of not, I would be responsible. I will lead.
I will become a leader.
Chapter 16-
Ashblossom had introduced me to all of the group personally which took a few days to do. She had told all of them that she had resigned as leader and that I was in charge. To my surprise, there was no disapproval. All of them had excepted me in a few heartbeats. A few of the cats had stood out to me. A skinny orange she-cat named Twig, A large brown tom with ruffled long fur named Bear, and a tall tan she-cat named Bella who had a fierce look in her eyes. Her fur was so short it looked as if she had none and ears that were large and stuck straight up like some of the dogs i've seen. Each told me how they heard of me. Twig said she saw a starry-eyed cat come to her in dreams, Bear saw one while drinking from the river, and Bella said she heard voices tell her of me. It was interesting how these cats knew of me before seeing who I was. I wanted to talk to them more, but they told me they had to get back to training.
"This is why you shouldn't be so down on yourself Ghoststar" Ashblossom told me while her kits climbed all over my back and clawed my tail. "These cats see the strength that you have never seen in yourself. Don't let Sunstar's words intimidate you." She flicked my ear playfully and scooted a kit off of me. "You're at the same level as he is now. You're both leaders." The kits struggled, trying to leave their mother's grip and whined about not being able to see me much anymore. "The world isn't black and gold as Onepath said. This world is what the cat that it belongs to wants it to be. And in this den, It is your world." Without letting me speak, she shooed the kits away, telling them to play elsewhere and left to go hunt.
After Ashblossom's kind words, I went to train with Tommy, Cali and the others in my fathers group. I've learned a lot from them. They were indeed fearsome fighters like I thought they'd be. Tooth even went a bit far and tore part of the side of my left ear off but It was all for the sake of training. After training, we would all gather to discus battle plans. Cali had the idea to cover ourselfs in ash to make a statement. Twig argued that there hasn't been a fire in seasons and should use leafs and honey instead to use as camouflage. White agreed with her and said we should also roll in herbs or dung to mask our sent. I felt a bit useless for not being apart of throwing out ideas but the looks in their eyes reminded me that It wasn't about me. It was about freedom and taking back what was ours. Not about me.
It's been three or four moons and most of our plan has been made up. In that time span, the kits have been made apprentices. Tuftpaw, Ghostpaw, Hopepaw were training with Onepath. Tuftpaw and Ghostpaw had more skill in it than Hopepaw. The little pale gray she-cat with black paws seemed more interested in training with Vixonwing and Heavyfall. We had even gathered the honey and leafs we needed and Onepath supplied herbs. Everything was going according to plan.
Chapter 17-
The patrols have seen a surprising amount of Thunderclan cats sneaking around our camp. Lucky for us, Bella and Spring had covered the entrance of our fox den with dung. Spring had hiked up to the clan to spy and said not many cats were there. Only Sunstar, elders, kits and maybe two warriors. The tiny black she-cat was no more bigger than an apprentice and her dark eyes and fur make her amazing at hiding. Spring said that it looked like the cats were scattered in the forest in small groups of about three.
"It looks like they're getting ready for a war." The black she-cat mewed. "Battle training constantly." As she spoke, Kink interrupted as always. She went on and on with battle ideas or how these cats weren't to be trusted. I saw the same troubled look in White's eyes sometimes and heard him yelling at night about my mother. I tried to ignore the ghost like she-cat and focused on what my group chatted about.
"Looks as if they're inviting us to start one." Bear growled. Onepath nodded and continued to sort herbs with Hopepaw and Tuftpaw as quickly as he could. Bear looked over at me with sharp golden eyes. "We need to do something before one of us gets attacked before we're ready. I say we strike first so we have the advantage."
Tooth nodded, his eyes full of bloodlust. "I agree wit the fluffball. We out number them anyways. Why don't we attack first and show 'em that they better back down?" Bear looked at Tooth, obviously bothered by being called 'fluffball', but Tooth just smiled at him. "We've been trainin' quite a bit. I think its 'bout time to get on the honey an leafs and go."
Most of the group seemed to agree. Even Nutchest and Ashblossom were talking among themselves, telling tales of how Sunstar acted and how we could use that in the battle. I looked down at the toms and she-cats who were ready to give their lives to help the sick and weak. The cats that called themselves Spiritclan warriors. Rip chose the name because 'With our fighting spirit, we can overcome anything. We could drive the evil away and attract the good.' With the clan in an uproar, the only thing I could do was agree. Besides, The sooner Sunstar isn't leading, the better. I told the clan that we should avoid killing if we can and that I would try to talk to Sunstar into letting someone else lead and if it didn't work, we would try it their way. The clan agreed to the plan although some said he would never let it happen or that the only way to solve this was by spilling blood. But how could you kill the only person you have called a friend without simply trying to talk him down from the edge? I could never do that. War and bloodshed only made things worse. After all, That's the reason my dear friend snapped.
Chapter 18-
I scrunched up my nose as Stick slathered some honey on me and stuck on the herbs. I looked down at all the cats, squinting to see them. The camouflage was perfect. The only time I could tell it was a cat was when they moved. Even the kits, Queens, Elders and Onepath had leafs spread across them. We were ready and according to Spring, so were they. She told me she saw a large group of cats led by Sunstar was heading towards us. It was time to go to war. At Sunhigh, Half of our group left to head over to Sunstar's group with me, Ashblossom and all the other cats who were banished from Thunderclan. We decided that because they didn't know how many we had in our Clan that the second group would be all rouges and kittypets.
"He'd see if the cats that were banished weren't there and expect that there's another group waiting for him" Ashblossom mewed quietly.
I nodded at her "We need one group of all rouges and kittypets to pull this off. Sunstar knows White too well so he'll come with us. Rip should lead the other group. Make sure you are far enough from us to not get caught but close enough to come aid us if we need it" I smiled as Rip's eyes filled with determination and gathered up his group.
When everyone was sorted into their groups, mine started heading towards Sunstar's clan quickly, tracking them by scent. The smell of Thunderclan cats stopped at the base of a large oak tree. As I looked up, a crushing weight hit my back and my chest hit the hard, cold ground. Yowls of surprise and pain rang in my ear as other cats were jumped onto.
The harsh, warm breath of Sunstar hit my neck and ears. "You shouldn't have come here Ghostsight. I don't want to do this. They'll just hurt you even more." The surprisingly regret filled voice reached my ears and played an eerie and sad melody of sorry.
The weight of the tom was lifted as Ashblossom tackled him off of me, eyes full of rage and sadness. Hopepaw followed her mother and bit his tail. I huffed, trying to regain my normal breathing rate as well as my balance. When I stumbled onto my paws I headed over to help White bat off Tinydove and Foxtar. The two she-cats put up a fight but later went to help a clanmate.
"Cats of Thunderclan! Spiritclan will no longer accept your violent acts! Sunstar! Face me like the warrior I once knew!" I bellowed to the sky, waiting for him to show himself again. The battle raged on as a pair of blue eyes greeted me. Many emotions filled them. Bloodlust, regret, pain, and betrayal along with anger. In spite of all of this, he smiled. The same smile he had when he'd tell me we were going on patrol. He took a step closer and tears dripped down. Tear that looked to be formed by happiness.
"Ghostsight. I'm finally going to help you. I'm finally going to end your pain"
Chapter 19-
I stared at my old friend, my heart pounding, full of hurt and anxiety. "Sunstar, don't do this. You can change. Go back to the way things were. Just stop hurting others and It'll all be okay" The look in his eyes changed to a sad and almost angry glare. "Please, come back to me Sunstar. Back to the cat that I love. Back to the tom who protected me from cats who would make fun of me. Please, I want that Sunstar." He shook his head, tears dripping down onto the dusty ground.
"Be quite Ghostsight! Just be quite and let me do this for you!" He slid out his claws and glared at me. The once carefree tom now looked destroyed with grief. "Let me take you to Starclan. Let me give you peace and go somewhere where you feel like you matter. I'm tired of seeing you as a nervous wreck every time someone was horrible to you. Every time Buckheart looked at you in disgust. I'm just doing what my mother told me to Ghostsight. I'm doing what's best for the one I love and the best thing for you is death." His voice was shaky and showed that he wouldn't stop until he killed me. I had no choice. I had to stop him.
"Alright Sunstar. I won't go down easily though. I-" Before I could finish, I felt a warm liquid run down my legs. I looked down to see my white fur stained a bright red. I looked up at Sunstar with wide eyes as his claws pierced my chest. My vision seemed to be a bit blurry but I could still see my old friend crying and Kink yelling at me. He removed his claws and I fell down to the ground, watching the ground turn red with my blood. My sight was gone and everything went dark. The last thing I heard was the screeching of battle stop and turn into yowls of concern and Sunstar's weeping as he mewed in a shaky and regretful voice. "I'm so sorry Ghostsight. I love you"
Everything faded to black...
