So this woman was sitting on the bench outside for about an hour. At one point she was rocking and crying, the next she was talking animatedly with lots of hand gesturing. I thought she was talking to another person outside, but when I looked around the corner, there was nobody there, so I just figured she had a Bluetooth. Eventually, she came and knocked on the door to the lobby (I lock it at night), and thinking she just forgot her key, I buzzed her in. This is how that went:
Her: My boyfriend is supposed to be coming up here to get a room, but he's not here yet, and I don't know what to do. Can I wait inside where it's warm? Me (having heard that excuse dozens of times from the homeless/drifters): No, you can't be inside if you aren't a guest. I thought you'd just forgotten your key, that's why I let you in. Her: Can I at least go tinkle quickly? Me: Quickly. Her (coming back from the bathroom): I heard you call and say that Richard checked in while I was in the bathroom. Me: I haven't had any calls. Her: I HEARD you announce it over the speaker that Richard checked in. Me: We don't have a speaker. Are you talking to me or are you on the phone? Her: *looks at me like I'm stupid* Well can I at least stay inside until after the boom? Me: Excuse me? Her: Can I stay inside until after the big boom, because fireballs are getting ready to start raining from the sky. Me: No, you have to go back outside for that. Her: You're mean! *walks outside to her bench, sits down, and gives me the death stare through the window* Me after 5 minutes of being glared at: *calls non emergency police, because for all I know she's plotting my demise at that point*

Either she's schizophrenic or she's doing a social experiment inside your house.

Either she's schizophrenic or she's doing a social experiment inside your house. The cops said she had a drug history, and they were pretty sure she was coming down off something, and that's what was causing her moments of paranoia, because she gave them all sane, reasonable answers. She lived down the street, and had walked to the hotel. She's not the first, or even the craziest person I've ever dealt with here.
