Hearts laughed a little bit before adjusting her crouch and mapping the feeling in her head for later. "I don't know. You told me to try it and when I went to crouch down my body seemed to move on it's own. It did really feel like instinct... cool but creepy." She laughed and pushed his shoulder with her paw a little before criuching again and moving forward on her paws. She was silent and swift and then she stopped and her gaze seemed to change from happy to worried.

Thrush felt an unfamiliar warmth course through him at her touch, her sound of her laughter making his eyes shine happily. He was jolted out of his thoughts, however, when she noticed her demeanor quickly change. "Hey," he mewed, his deep green eyes shining with curiosity, "are you okay? What's wrong?"

Hearts stiffened as she heard him but then directed her attention back to the clump of bushes directly in front of her. She was staring straight into it and then staring back at her... were eyes. She quietly but swiftly backed up from the bush until she was beside Thrush again and then whispered to him. "There's something in that thicket of bushes right there... it was staring straight at me. I don't recognize the scent. My eyes could be playing tricks on me though." She looked at him and back at the bush, surely she had just seen a flash of orange?

Thrush panicked as he realized what had been putting the she-cat on edge. When pressed closer to Hearts as he scented the air again and was revolted. The stench of fox filled his nose and made his pelt spike with fear, which he quickly pushed aside - he had to protect Hearts! He couldn't be worried being fighting his own fear while also leading a kitty-pet away from danger! "Okay," he murmured, "it's a fox. Maybe it hasn't scented us yet, since we're downwind, but if we get out of here quick enough maybe it won't foll-" The tom's words caught in his throat as the fox's head emerged from the brush, snarling at the two cats.

Windy was travelling very close to that area, and smelled the fox too. She felt a pang of worry hit her and she wondered if there would be any casualties. Slowly creeping closer and looking from a bush, she saw its head and gleaming brown eyes fearfully. The she-cat resolved to come over and help, so that's what she did. She slowly creeped over to join the two scared cats in battle.

Hearts looked at the fox, her eues widening. "That's a FOX! I've never seen one before... maybe we can clim a tree to get away from it?" Hearts quickly thought of the idea and proposed it to Thrush, hoping it would work since ahe didn't want her new friend to get hurt.

"Good call," Thrush praised Hearts, then motioned to Windy to his tail. "Come on, you'd better get up here with us," he told her, already moving towards the nearest sprawling oak tree. The tom's heart was in his throat, blood rushing in his ears as he waited for the two she-cats to get to safety. He'd wait until they made it to the top as a last resort; if worst came to worst, he knew had the battle training to distract the fox until they could make it to safety.

Hearts followed and gulped as she looked at the tree. She hoped her smaller claws would still grip the tree. Jumping up the trunk she grabbed hold but couldn't find a grip with her back paws. When she finally did she let out breath of relief and pulled herself up onto the first branch.

Windy felt a pang of fear. She didn't know how to climb trees! Breathing heavily with fear, she unsheathed her claws and flung herself onto the closest branch without hesitation. The rough spikes protruding from the tree lightly grazed her, but she didn't care and pulled herself up to sit on the branch.

Thrush waited anxiously as he watched the she-cats scramble up before hauling himself up, his claws digging into the bark and his muscles rippling beneath his dark pelt until he found his perch beside Hearts. "We'll wait until it's gone, eh?" he murmured to the other cats, his pelt prickling as the fox began to sniff at the base of the tree.

"Y..Yeah, I guess." Windy muttered nervously, watching as the fox began to pace around the bottom. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, promising herself that this would end well.

Hearts looked down at the fox and shuddered. It looked so weird... but she felt like she had seen one before as well. The fox was sniffing around but then it's ears shot up and it looked up into the tree. Hearts, out of fear, leaned into Thrush and pressed against his side, shaking. She closed her green eyes tightly, praying the fox would soon leave.

Thrush was surprised when Hearts pressed herself against him. He could feel her shaking and swelled with sympathy for the kitty-pet. She probably hadn't experienced something like this in a long time. He wrapped his tail over her shoulders and protectively laid his chin on top of her head as she shut her eyes. The tom, however, kept his ears pricked and watched anxiously as the fox slowly crept out of the clearing below them, letting out a sigh of relief when it left.
Thrush gave Hearts' ear a quick lick and told the she-cat it had left before turning to Windy. "We'd better wait a few minutes before scrambling down - that way we know it'll be out of the area for sure. In the mean time, where did you come from, she-cat? How did you find us?"

Hearts didn't pull awau from Thrush after he told her the fox had left. She did stop shaking thiugh and then heard the tom question the she-cat. Pricking her ears she waited to hear an answer.

"I smelled the fox and your scent, so I obviously thought that something would be wrong. Anyways, I'm Windy." Windy introduced herself briskly with a courteous nod.

"Nice to meet you," Thrush dipped his head to her respectfully. "I'm Thrush, and this is Hearts. We were about to going hunting when we smelled the fox. Speaking of which," he said, glancing down at the ground and tasting the air, "it's probably alright to head down again." He clawed his way down the rough bark, waiting for the cats to follow him to the down.

"Okay." Windy replied with a relieved sigh, slowly scrambling down the trunk with pricked-up ears and smelling for perhaps a lingering scent of the fox. Thankfully it had left the area. "Well, nice to meet you too." She added.

Wally paused. He'd never been as far into the woods as this she-cat probably did on the daily. It looked like he'd offended her, somehow, and he figured he should say something - but he didn't think he was confident enough to follow.
"Um - okay - uh - see you, i guess...." he murmured, backing up against the fence of his garden.
(( sorry - exam and deadline season, going to be a bit slow ))

(It's fine)
Diamond sighed and looked back for a second to smile at him. "Ok... see you again." Then she turned and padded into the undergrowth to look for somewhere to make a temporary "home".

Wally watched the cat leave curiously, jumping back onto his fence to get a better look. Living in the forest seemed a lot more difficult then having housefolk. "Any well-meaning housefolk would take in a cat like you," he called, hoping it was sound advice. He couldn't understand what cat would want to live wild, but he knew that not all cats could find homes.

Diamond twitched her ears at his voice but already knew she didn't have want to stay in two-leg place. She sighed as she padded on, looking for somewhere to stay.
Hearts felt cold when Thrush's heat left her side but didn't show it. Standing she followed the other two cats down onto the ground and then stood by Thrush, looking at Windy.

"Well, Hearts.. Nice to meet you too." Windy introduced herself to the she-cat with a little happy bow, looking around to see where they were. "It seems the predator is long gone, so we can roam free now." She concluded with relief.

Thrush dipped his head to Windy in goodbye. "I think we're going to get back to hunting - just keep a look out for the fox if you hang around this area for very long - and we'll be nearby if you need any help. See you around."
He turned to Hearts, his eyes brightening as he glanced over at the pretty she-cat. "Now, where were we? Hunting "prey", right? Maybe it's time you actually try hunting for real, eh?" he said with a purr before padding out of the hollow, beckoning for the silver cat to follow him with his tail.

(She's actually pale gray, lol)
Hearts purred to and followed him, flicking her tail at Windy as she left. She padded up beside him and looked around. "Ooohh!! I've always wanted to try squirrel! Can we hint one of those?" She looked at him with a pleading look in her bright green eyes. "Pleasssse!"

(oops sorry! haha)
"Squirrel, huh?" Thrush teased, a mrraow of amusement escaping him as he met the she-cat's bright-eyed gaze. He'd hate to disappoint her - the tom suddenly realized he felt a rather large amount of affection for Hearts - but he couldn't promise they'd find a squirrel in this neck of the woods. Resolving himself to help her catch the prey she desired, he happily told her they could do it. "We may have to walk a little bit to find one, if that's okay by you. Scent the air and tell me where we should go - I know you can do it!" he told her encouragingly.

Hearts smiled back at him and laughed excitedly before turning still and pricking her ears with her jaw slightly open. She inhaled once and immediately caught a scent. "What's that thing I smell? It's coming from over there." She flicked her tail toward a shrubbery of gorse at the roots of a oak.
