Hello, so today I drew a thing here are two versions, one with sunbeams and one without them. I would like to know which one you like more. Do you have any other critique as well?? I would really appreciate it.

OOC I'm no expert on dragons so I won't say anything about the dragon, it looks great. However I do think the one with the sunbeams is better, mostly because without the sunbeams, it's hard to see the dragon, but with them, it's brighter over there and easier to see the dragon.

I do think the sunbeam effect looks good, however, the front wing wouldn't be blocking out as much of the light as what is in your picture. I think there should be beams covering pretty much all of the back wing rather than just part way down. I would also personally add a bit of highlighting to the dragon, but really, that's more of a stylistic choice haha.
In general, I really like the design of the dragon, and I think the choice to put a neutral colored creature against a vivid and pretty background was a really nice idea!

I think the sun beam effect would look nicer if there were rays rather than just one cone shape enveloping the subject. It just seems like a cut off in color with no real explanation where the tones shift in a manner that is really harsh on the eyes. Also I think your art needs some more highlights because there's not much contrast, but still, nice work. I like the one without the sunbeam better :")

And it's not even my character so I can't do much.

I love the version the with sunbeams because on the one without, you can't really see the dragon. Great image btw!

I love the one with the sunbeams- gives it a brighter look to it Also, I was wondering if I could feature either one of these in an article for a 'WCRP Newspaper'? I'm in charge of the art section, where I feature art off of the art boards that I think is great, or art that is submitted to be in the paper. I would post a link to this page and tag you in the post so people know who the artist is. Of course, I'd like to ask your permission first. You can say no, obviously. It is your art and you have every right

I like the one with the beams. One thing I have to say is that if you want the dragon to look like they're moving forwards, you should probably make the legs be more horizontal- and if they're kinda meant to be hovering make it look as if they're being tugged upwards where their wings start? Kind of like when a kitten/puppy gets picked up by the scruff, but less extreme. I did a lazy drawing a while back which is kinda what I'm trying to show (I wouldn't copy the anatomy though ahaha)

Contrast I think is the biggest thing that could be improved here. The dragon's face is so dark that it kinda blends in with the wings behind it. Another thing to consider is sub-surface scattering. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subsurface_scattering you can read about that here. Basically it's when some light shines through skin. We should be seeing some SSS on the wings here especially.
