I usually write in much the same way. I have a beginning and and end and the middle sorts itself out. The Game works that way, at least within its smaller stories. But Will's original story (if I ever actually settle on a name for this story it would be amazing, but I haven't. So 'Will's Story' it will be called) had...I don't know. I needed to see it perfectly mapped out. I've never had so much need to write a story so well and in so much detail. I've been working on it for three years now and I seem to just like it more and more as I go along. It's not the type of story I feel can be planned out in my normal way. ^^' I never even mentioned the type of problems I'm having with the original story. XD That's at least a little better, I think. I want to do a couple of short stories and one prequel trilogy. Another prequel book may also factor into it, if I decide to keep the side idea I had in the same universe. Oh boy. Rattlesnake. My love for him is only surpassed by my love for Will. He's the 'father' of the main character, a shape-shifter, and he started out as a character that I wanted to destroy the four main lake clans. I wrote a couple of stories that mentioned him for Tuesday's Challenges, but nothing really fleshed out him as a character. You may not remember, or have participated, in Brownie's contest to write a one-shot that was supposed to be unedited? That's the turning point for Rattlesnake as I tell the story from one of his cat's POV (a cat called Dream, who will become Rattlesnake's mate later on in the planning stage). Anyway, after I started writing that story I started to use Rattlesnake in RPs. I needed more cats for his group and lacked the motivation to create them. So I started roleplaying in kitcaves. After that, he started to turn from a heartless rogue to a rogue how had to much of a heart. He has to weigh his adopted family against a deadly prophecy and still try to protect the clan cats he hardly knows. Also, I love how I really can delve into his relationship with Dream more by telling things from his view point. I'm working on a story called 3 of Hearts which will center on what I hope to be an interesting love-triangle between him, Dream, and a she-cat called Kite. Who, I need to thank Shadow for, since I created the plot line in that writing workshop she made. Kite being Will's mother. And the story just gets really complicated from there. XD ( That's good, because you can guess how long I can talk on and on about this stuff. XD ) True. I'm fine with it. Paranormal is an instant Yes! and I'm fine with mild gore. It's a good, flexible way to write, even if it is hard sometimes. That sounds good, mint! Planning something so completely feels really good. You feel so prepared. It's amazing.
Oooh, sounds interesting, Mint! I love any story that deconstructs morality and blurs the line between good and evil. It sounds like you've developed a really interesting storyline. And ooh, I smell drama...
[Same, honestly. I could fill entire notebooks with everything trivial about my characters and world ]
Cool, because I started reading this great comic I found called 'Beasts of Burden', about dogs and one cat who hunt paranormal activity - sort of like Ghostbusters with pets, except theres also witches, summoning the dead, and cannibal frogs. You can read some of the shorter chapters online at the Dark horse comics website, but one of the chapters contains mild gore, but its not explicit or anything. And the whole thing is done in watercolour!

Tigerlily is a precious baby. <333 I love your anthro art, Dingo, and this concept art makes me want to start working on some of my characters as well. She is. She is too pure for this world. I love her to death.
thanks, Moon! Concept art is so much fun to make. I've done a heap more recently, so I'll have to update this soon!

XD I've gotten to the point where I do very a little, not going overboard with the rewrites, and the small changes make some of the more fuzzy parts of the story clear. Same. Most of my main characters fight with inner demons, which I find more interesting to write, and to read, for that matter. You are your own worst enemy. Will and Rattlesnake both end up doing that. In the end, Will ends up being more cold-hearted than Rattlesnake. It's a very complex story line, so much so that I always want to improve my writing skills to do it justice. Drama is coming. :3 (I wrote a whole three-four pages about the political and religious set-up for my world. It's information that will rarely turn up, but I still enjoyed writing about. Most of my notebooks are filled with trivial things about my characters.) Sounds familiar. Was it ever published into a print version? Because I think I've seen a book of the same title with dogs and a cat on the cover. Yeah, that's fine. I'll look it up.

Ooh! *dances* It is the same comic. I can order it from my library! I remember it was illustrated by one of the artists I 'follow', in a sense. So, I'd seen the cover before. Cool!

Inner struggles are the best. Its the same for me - the greatest enemies of most of my characters are themselves. If you hold up the mirror, are you afraid of what you'll see? It sounds like Will and Rattlesnake would get along with some of my characters. they can wallow in self pity together. Complexity is good, I guess, but yeah, you definitely want to feel prepared to write it. *chants* Drama drama drama
Oooh, nice! I really need to write all that stuff down. It's mostly just floating around in my head, and I should really write it down before I start contradicting myself XD
I need to get my hands on the print anthology. I love it. There's a bunch of comic books that I'm saving up for, although one of my favourites isn't in print in English, so I have to rely on the online version, but I'd love a print copy :/

Self pity. Yep. Though Will will deny that she regrets anything. Rattlesnake does that mostly when he thinks of Kite. It's very fun to do. Though short story ideas started to pop up like mad. It looks very interesting. I know the feeling. >.< They never translated Magic Kaito (that avatar I used to have, with the guy in the top hat) into English. I really want a print copy, but I think I'm limited to Japanese, German, and French as language options.

Ooh, I'm intrigued, now! Self pity and self loathing seems to be what some of my characters thrive off, it seems. Note to self: must write angsty one-shots about said characters supporting one another theoughbthe hard times.
One shots are glorious. They are also a dangerous distraction that demands your attention when it really should be given to other things.
Said comic (Wurr) is only available in print in Finnish. The artist keeps saying that she'd like to print in English when she has the funds, but that hasn't happened yet. I don't mind reading the webcomic, though. (Wurr is also a comic I'd recommend - the story is fantastic and the art continues to blow my mind. It's honestly one of my biggest inspirations)

Only my main character, it would seem for me. The rest thrive off similar emotions, but not those pacific ones. Yep, pretty much. XD Then you get to collect them all together and sell them as a complete book. I'll look it up as well. Edit: Found it. It looks pretty interesting.

Oooh, a mystery? Nice!
True true, because a complete anthology is the only way to sell one-shots.
I love Wurr. The artists' English is a little iffy at the start, but she improves in leaps and bounds, and its fine once you hit the second book.

MINT HAS CHANGED HER SCREEN NAME Yep. Book two a mystery. Hope I can pull it off. Yeah... unless you submit it to someone else's anthology. I'm sure that'll be fine. Ah, I love jokes. I was joking with ShiningDiamond and decided to change it because of what we were talking about.

I'm sure you can! I love mysteries! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
True. It's funny, I love writing short stories and one-shots, but I rarely ever read them, unless its fan fiction or on Reddit. Strange.
It was kind of disorientating at first, like 'woah who's that', but I really like it! Did you know that I've never seen a Starbucks store? I think there's only one in my state, but I don't know where it is. It must be close though, since I know people who have been there.
ANYWAY I'm updating the sketch dump today.

If they weren't on every other corner over here, I probably wouldn't know they existed. I've only ever been there for the scones. Have I mentioned yet how cool it is that our tastes are so similar? I dislike coffee. Give me tea or a glass of milk any day. XD Sorry folk, I run on water, milk (soy, almond, or goat), organic fruit juice, and herbal tea. Coffee is out.

I didn't even know they sold things other than coffee??? It is very very cool! I don't really drink milk much - I did when I was younger, but not so much now - but tea and fruit juice are excellent. Herbal tea is the best, but I also really like fruit teas. I also love mineral water. Hmmm, maybe I'll go and make some tea...

Shade's fine. Mostly.
Hahah, me too. My room is littered with WIP's that never get finished because something goes wrong (i.e I stare at it too long and then I start to hate it). For every finished drawing, theres 20 unfinished sketches lying around. I try to keep them all in an accordion folder, but yesterday I found a whole pile that had fallen behind my bookshelf, so its not going too well.

Don't ask me about the differences between countries. Making me feel like a little kid. XD Ah well. I still run on milk, because it's the third type of drink you'll find in my house. The second being tea, but that means I'm not lazy and want to make some. I love pomegranate tea. Wish I had some to make...Peppermint is also great. Ah, my fallback. Mint. I promise that I had no idea it would be one of my top favorite herbs when I chose that as my SN.Shade's fine. Mostly.

Hmmm, interesting. I don't even think we have a prominent chain of coffee shops. there are a couple of different ones, but they're pretty rare to find unless you're in a major city. XD - let me rephrase. I drink a lot of milk but not by itself. I generally make a milkshake or a smoothie every day, so that's my dairy drink intake. nO WAY POMEGRANATE TEA IS MY FAVOURITE TOO??? Maybe you're just psychic.
It's the same for me. unfinished stuff that won't ever be finished gets sorted into the folder, but good sketches get inked and glued into the Concept Book, so at least it means all the good stuff is in one place. *sigh* I feel you, man.

That's the closest we have to a prominent chain of coffee shops. I can't even think of any other major ones... That's a little sad. O.O If I had the energy materials to have it in milkshakes or smoothies I would. Next question. You prefer it as iced tea or normal, hot type? Maybe. o.O I have this large folder that I sort into 'old art', 'new art-but not impressed with it', 'fan art', 'art I'm happy with'. Though I rearrange them and the names change a lot. *sigh* I said I'd post a map I finished today... Motivation needed please. Send collect.

Coffee shop chains are slowly declining, I think. There's couple of odd shops scattered around where I live, but nowhere close to what they used to be. Milkshakes are so good - and so handy, since I rarely have the time to at a proper breakfast before school. I can make and drink a milkshake in about two minutes. Probably hot - I don't drink ice tea much. Plus, with hot tea, you get more benefits - like feeling warm when its freezing cold and raining. You never know.
That's basically it XD *chants* GO GO GO MINT! BE CREATIVE

I am down for tea shops. An actual cat where they serve exotic teas, and maybe baked goods. It can even be seasonal. You do? That's so cool? I have lived in the same town all my life. I've moved suburbs a couple of times, but I've pretty much stayed within a 20 km radius. That's going to change late this year though.
Oooh, cool. Making maps is fun c:
