Expanding is always good! As for the shaman, I think it'd be best if it went to you, it makes sense. And the chief to shades if they want it. If not, I'd be willing.
But a public naming ceremony sounds cool!

I could do chief(tess)? Idk I watched Moana and feeling girl empowered right now. But I'd be open to have them married? Maybe un-married and it could be funny watching them flounder.
Which by the way. I think it would be cool if marriage is a handclasp with tattoos that make an infinite loop that connects them together.
If someone else really wants chief I can be the spouse.

I'd be chill with spouse if you were the chief. Or just a random character. Also Moana was so good?? Definitely a good source tbh.
And it'd be up to mads, but that tattoo sounds really cool!

Lol yeah actually me and my boyfriend just watched Moana the other day and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I'm generally not a fan of cheesy animated Disney musicals but the music in Moana was actually good, and the story wasn't really that cheesy. But Moana is probably another reason why I prompted this planning page tbh.
And yeah that's true, that would be cool. Though perhaps the tattoo should be more unique between couples. Perhaps each has half of the symbol, and it's whole when they hold hands, as you said? Incorporating catpants's idea, maybe the families of the two getting married draw most of the symbol on their hands separately, and then during the ceremony the shaman completes it, thus marrying them?
And if no one wants to be the chief(tess) I have no problem with making another character for that. Generally in that situation I make the leader sort of old and then kill them off a bit into the roleplay so a different character can take their place. That would work what with robin being the child of the chief(tess), and if you're wanting a younger character shades then you could too. Otherwise, if you're wanting to be the chieftess, by all means go for it, but you don't have to go that direction if you'd prefer your character be something else.

The whole having an old leader and killing them off is always a good plot device tbh, as cliche as it is?? It works well tbh

I mean. I prefer someone younger and floundering myself but without children. Maybe newly wedded but definitely avoiding parenting at the moment. I just had to parent a kid and lead an executive board full of what I thought to be adults. But apparently not. Maybe younger sibling if anyone wants. But I'll definitely do chief (tess) because that sounds like a fun role to take.

Yeah and I mean for roleplay purposes it's a good way to start the rp without having that sort of weird power vacuum of not having a leader at all, but still allowing a different character to actually have some development as a character before being thrown into a leadership position? Bc let's be honest, if we've learned anything from Clan roleplays it's that nine times out of ten the cat that starts the rp being leader is boring af bc their only character trait usually is the simple fact that they're leader lol. I mean, not always, but a lot of the time.
Edit: sure shades go for it. Just didn't want you to feel like you were being expected to take that role lol.

Oh yeah, I just remembered that I forgot to decide on the color tattoos for different roles. It would have to be colors that could be made naturally using things like berries and flowers, so probably blue, red, green, purple, and orange. I'm thinking red for hunters, green for finders, orange for shapers, blue for tenders, and purple for shaman. What do you guys think?

I mean it's a great plot to have. I think it would be cool to do something like that with a young, spry character thrown into position if I hate them I have no problem killing them but I don't want to be downcasting people who want to be the children of the chief when I don't think I would want my character to have kids yet .

Sorry for the poof, I had dinner!
I have no clue what I would want my character to be, though I do kind of want to claim the wolf as their spirit animal, if that's okay?

The newly married sounds cool, if you don't mind me taking the spouse. And yeah. It's always a good fail safe plot

Yeah. You can take the spouse. Do you have a preferred rp gender? I have no care, I usually rp men so it's a-ok if you want a girl. If you want a guy, I can totally use my Moana and Horizon: Zero Dawn inspiration for a lady.

Or, if I can, perhaps I might claim the role of the next shaman?

Okay so here's my thoughts on everyone's positions:
shades is the young chief(tess) of the tribe, having only recently come to power after her parent, the previous leader died. Her character is newly married to catpants's, and robin's character is the sister of shades' character. That way robin can have the kid of the previous chief(tess) but shades' character doesn't have to have kids yet. Similarly, we could start before the chief(tess) died and then actually roleplay through that transition of power. That would be up to you, shades, if you wanted your character to be chief(tess) from the get go or rp into that.
And yeah you could probably be the next shaman Aviva. The only problem I could possibly see with that is the fact that I was gonna make my character pretty young, probably about 20. I could up his age to something more like 26 probably, but your character would still probably be pretty young. Even if the previous shaman had died when my character was pretty young, his apprentice probably still wouldn't be older than about 10 or so. So it depends on if you'd want to play a character that young. Otherwise, if you'd rather do it a bit later, it might be fun to have the next shaman be born sometime during the rp, bc I would love to see my character struggle with having to adjust to training them and generally deal with a child lol. Plus, since a new shaman being born is kind of a big deal, it might be fun to see during the rp. But it's up to you Aviva. The second idea would sort of get you the best of both worlds I guess, where you could have a primary character that's older but still get to claim the next shaman? Idk. Like I said it's up to you.

I can make a woman! Though I wouldn't be upset if you changed your mind and went with a chieftess. I'm flexible with both. And that sounds great to me, Mad!

Oooh you sniped me. It's really up to you. Chieftess would be cool for dynamic. But the young men I have are just as fumbling and super anxious anyway. The sad thing is. My girl would be a headstrong leader. My boy would be a 'idk how to do this but I hope it works' leader.
So really, what do you guys want as a leader?
And Mads, that idea works perfectly.

My character, girl or boy would just be " kick his butt baby i got ur flower." Incredibly supportive, but opinionated. We could flip a coin for it lmao.

Well, the character I had in mind for the role was pretty young anyway; I was thinking of making them about 14, having just begun training, though I can bump that down to 10 if need be; also, I was thinking of making a tender as well, bc let's be real, not a lot of people are likely to make a character for that role lol

Hm well, I would say probably go with whichever character would be legitimately more suited to the task, since part of them becoming chief(tess) does entail getting chosen for the role over their sibling, robin's character, for one reason or another. Assuming that robin's character isn't completely unsuited to leadership, that means yours would have to at least appear to be competent. And would you prefer to start as chief(tess) or to gain that role a little bit into the rp? Probably not far, maybe a few in-game days to a week or so. I just think seeing the tribe react to the death of their leader and then the coronation of the new one would be very interesting. But it's your call.

But which you want to go for, shaman or tender, is up to you.

lol "have some old guy die first" awesome.
Anyways, I sort of expanded on the marriage ritual? Let me know what you think:
When a couple is to get married, the ceremony takes place at night, always beneath a new moon where the stars- symbols of Asa-kel- are clearly visible. The day before the marriage, no one is allowed to visit with those who are to be married except for their immediate kin- that is, parents and siblings. These family members will spend the day painting an intricate symbol on the back of the person's hand; as always, the left hand for males and the right for females. At dusk, a huge fire will be built and the tribe feasts, though still no one is allowed to see the two who are to be married except for their families. The fire will not be fed after it has been built, and only once it has died down to embers- usually around midnight when the sky is darkest and stars brightest- does the couple emerge. They are led by their parents- or eldest living sibling if a parent is not still alive- to the fire, both blindfolded by a white pelt (as white is the color of Asa-kel). There they must clasp their painted hands, and the shaman will connect the lines so that they form a cohesive pattern that flows from one person to the other. Only once the design is complete are the blindfolds removed and the couple allowed to see the finished design.
I also more cohesively summarized the newborn ritual and added a bit more:
When a child is born, the first person to see it is supposed to be the tribe shaman, who identifies its animal. However, the shaman tells no one what the animal is or what the child's name is to be yet. The shaman then cleans the baby and paints a white mark on its forehead, which is said to attract Asa-kel's attention and incur her blessing, as white is her representative color. The child is then cared for for three days, and in this time if the white mark remains without coming off it is a sign of good luck, while if it does come off, that is an omen of misfortune for the child. Either way, on the third day if the child is still alive and healthy, they are brought before the entire tribe and their animal and name are announced by the shaman to the entire tribe.

The male character would probably be practical. Definitely weaker on the side of hunter and fighter, but a better strategist and full of wisdom. He would never run into anything without consultation. But that pragmatic nature and slight anxiety is maybe what may make others who are more headstrong like him less.
Whereas a female would be less like that and more advanced in fighting. Where she definitely thinks, but it's more on her own, on her feet, without consulting the All-Mother or Shaman on decisions like, killing the enemy or taking the risk.
