how did you want to change them? Or do we leave it as it is?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 14, 2017 19:32:44 GMT -5
I don't know. We could just keep them the same?
Post by Deleted on Mar 14, 2017 19:38:47 GMT -5
Yeah that's what I was thinking. My brain is beginning to lose power with all of my Greek mythology homework lol
Okay so when it comes to goods and where they are made, what should their main export be? And main import? Considering their mainly Plains and Highlands and mountains, I would think farming and mining would he their main source of money. Maybe even fishing considering the islands to the north?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 14, 2017 19:49:26 GMT -5
With all the Plains and such, horses would also be highly vauled, so maybe we could tie that in somehow?
Maybe some rare spices and/or herbs?
Mining products are also a good idea.
Post by Deleted on Mar 14, 2017 19:51:07 GMT -5
horses would be neat, they would definitely need lumber so that can come from other countries. I was thinking the southern area be a bit Mediterranean and stuff like wineries, spices, and so forth are grown there?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 14, 2017 19:56:28 GMT -5
Yeah that's clever.
Post by Deleted on Mar 14, 2017 20:01:03 GMT -5
so basically -
horses: West and East Provinces (I will make provinces on political map)
Mining: wherever there are mountains
Spices and Wineries: South Province
Fishing: northern islands
Any industrial activities: large cities
We'll make everything fancy and complete once we finish all of the economy parts so we have everything we need to include
What about currency? Should it be flat or commodity?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 15, 2017 10:52:03 GMT -5
I feel like having it be commodity would be interesting.
Post by Deleted on Mar 15, 2017 10:53:14 GMT -5
Yeah it probably would. Like in gold, silver, or trading?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 16, 2017 10:59:24 GMT -5
Hmm I'm not sure, do you have an opinion?
Post by Deleted on Mar 16, 2017 11:14:38 GMT -5
I would say gold and silver
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 16, 2017 11:16:45 GMT -5
Mkay, let's go with that!
Post by Deleted on Mar 16, 2017 11:24:16 GMT -5
would we need to name the currency? And how do we plan to measure value?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 18, 2017 15:18:14 GMT -5
Omg sorry for the poof I was at a party all of yesterday night and this morning.
I'm actually not to sure on names or anything we could keep it simple and call them ____pieces or something greater like that.
Post by Deleted on Mar 18, 2017 19:50:48 GMT -5
or how about:
Sheol Chaldea Shekel
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 18, 2017 19:51:42 GMT -5
Chaldea sounds pretty cool!
Post by Deleted on Mar 18, 2017 19:55:56 GMT -5
Yeah I liked that one too I was thinking the currency is basically gold coins, but not valued like how the US does it (i.e. dime = 10 cents) it would be valued by the weight. So the more coins, the more something is worth as its measured by the Chaldea (approx. 1 gram) And then silver is weighed in Shekels the same way gold is, but only worth about half of what gold is
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 18, 2017 19:58:08 GMT -5
That's actually really unique!
Post by Deleted on Mar 18, 2017 20:01:11 GMT -5
glad you think so I haven't seen many rps do that she I figured it would be something very different.
So, should there be banks? Or do people hold onto all of their savings by other means?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 18, 2017 20:02:22 GMT -5
We could have banks, but maybe it's rumored that they're corrupt/not insured if robbed so most people don't use them.
Post by Deleted on Mar 18, 2017 20:04:13 GMT -5
it's a corrupt country as it is so that's quite fitting lol. So I would assume most people have their savings hidden around their house, in their cellars, buried under the floorboards and so forth?
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 18, 2017 20:05:16 GMT -5
Yeah, that sounds just about right.
Post by Deleted on Mar 18, 2017 20:07:37 GMT -5
should we have trading centers so people don't have to gold or silver but instead trade like say one deer for ten fish and so forth? There wouldn't be many, but like maybe a few? If we include them that is
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 18, 2017 20:09:52 GMT -5
Yeah, they'd probably be more common in smaller towns than cities just because.
Also, are the neighboring countries going to follow the same currency or is there a conversion?
Post by Deleted on Mar 18, 2017 20:12:24 GMT -5
I was thinking about that. But since they each of them have things they absolutely need from one another, converting money would be sort of difficult and a mess really. Especially if one country values their money like most countries do nowadays rather than how Sanora weighs their currency
Post by lazy penguin on Mar 18, 2017 20:13:36 GMT -5
Yeah, it would also be a ton of extra work to go through that. Good to know though.
Post by Deleted on Mar 18, 2017 20:17:30 GMT -5
Yeah I'll make sure to include that when I write up the description for their economy
As for people's attitude towards money: I would think that it would be like how most things are now with many companies. Money makes the world go round in their eyes I would think. As corrupt as the country is, money is really the only thing that can get them anywhere right? Nice deeds won't get the lower races up the social/racial latter anytime soon
